In the Mess of Things

Ruby stared at the old analogue clock hanging at the top of the chalkboard with hungry eyes. She had a whole laundry list of things planned for lunch and they all started with pinning Weiss against the door and biting her neck as she fought for control. It was mostly futile though. Ruby was a couple of inches taller than Weiss in their school loafers and physically stronger thanks to her weapon of choice. And if she really wanted to, Ruby could keep Weiss still by simply asking her to. But the playful struggle and the ever-looming chance of Weiss using her agility to overpower her made Weiss' energy taste all the sweeter. The thought alone made Ruby's stomach rumble like a beast unsatisfied, gnarling her insides and twisting them about like the knotted roots of a tree.

Just a few more minutes, she told herself with her arms wrapped tightly around her stomach. She continued to keep her eyes locked on the clock to make sure it didn't play any tricks on her, but each time the long hand twitched a millimetre forward, it seemed to jump back by an hour. She was seeing things. She was definitely seeing things. The hunger had officially melted her mind because the class was forty-five minutes, not forty-five hours.

A minute had barely passed by the time Ruby's paper-thin determination dissolved, leaving her as nothing but a tragic ghost of her former self. Ruby was desperate for a bite, even a morsel would do. She glanced over to Weiss with her best puppy dog eyes and whimpered for attention, but Weiss was too engrossed in her notes to even offer a hand.

The rumbling grew stronger and soon it was all Ruby could think about. She spotted the mouthwatering skin showing between Weiss' stockings and skirt and licked her lips. It was right there for taking. Lean, but soft.

Delicious.

Feeling bold, and impossibly hungry, Ruby brushed her leg against Weiss' and savoured the surprise that melted on her tongue.

"Stop it," Weiss hissed, shoving Ruby's leg away. "Keep it together for just a little longer."

"But I'm starving!" Ruby whispered back as she ignored Weiss' personal space and leaned against her. She slyly slid a hand up Weiss' skirt, just high enough to tickle her inner thigh and feel the outline of her lacy underwear. Smooth and silky, just like the taste of her skin. A hint of arousal touched the tip of Ruby's eager tongue before it quickly vanished behind a cold, unfeeling wall. "Aw…" she pouted, tasting nothing but the steel of Weiss' ire. "Come back."

"Stop it," Weiss hissed again, pinching Ruby's wayward hand. "If you keep this up, I won't help you at all."

Understanding the threat was painfully real, Ruby quickly backed off and sunk into her desk, defeated. She lolled her head around, bored out of her skull. She could study like everyone else, but the material made about as much sense as Weiss' need to howl at the moon or chase her tail when she thought no one was looking.

The hunger was growing worse.

If Ruby had known skipping her special breakfast would cause this, she would've gone with Yang and Blake to have normal people breakfast. It wouldn't satisfy her the way Weiss could, but it would've at least filled her belly enough to last until lunch.

A warm hand slipped into Ruby's palm, gently pulling her from her tortuous idle thoughts.

"Huh?" Ruby blinked, lifting her head to look at Weiss.

"I'm sorry, that was harsh of me… just hang on for a few more minutes, okay?" Weiss whispered, playing with Ruby's fingers before squeezing her hand. The desire radiating off of Weiss' skin was absolutely divine, like the warm summer sun on a ripe tomato fresh from the vine. "Feeling better?"

Smiling, Ruby squeezed Weiss back. "Much better."

A small, curious part of Ruby wanted to ask Weiss what she was fantasizing about because it didn't taste like the heavy, meaty lust she was used to. It was closer to the texture of a zefir, something Ruby had only tasted once when she was out with Weiss and they passed a cake shop. Weiss had graciously bought her one to try and the rest of the batch as well when she saw how much Ruby loved it—joy! That's what it tasted like. Ruby had a good feeling she knew what Weiss was thinking of now and happily kept her lips sealed.

The bell rang not long after and, as usual, Ruby had to sit through the cavalcade of idiots vying for Weiss' attention. She was sick and tired of this dog and pony show, but Weiss never did anything to dissuade it. If Ruby had to throw out a guess, she'd say Weiss secretly enjoyed the attention. But who in their right mind would like hearing the same pick-up lines over and over again? The ladies were at least subtle by arriving as a civilized group, but they were the ones Ruby hated the most.

Weiss never made what she found attractive clear. She'd steal a few glances at some pretty girls and blush when a handsome guy smiled at her, but she'd never initiate anything past a friendly conversation or a courteous nod. Ruby had asked a few times to try and see where she landed. She was optimistic Weiss would say she was cute or fun to be around because she was both those things and more, but the answer was always a playful "definitely not you" like she didn't dream about Ruby every night.

Thankfully, there was at least one person in the room not trying to steal Weiss away.

"H-Hey, Ruby! Hey, Weiss!" Jaune shrilly called out as he pushed his way to the front of the crowd. "You've probably already gotten asked, but wanna have lunch wi—"

"Butt out, twerp," one of the macho brutes cut in. He flashed Weiss his finest mealworm smile and slammed his hands down on the desk close to her right arm. He oozed confidence with a spicy hint of B.O, but compared to an Alpha's musk, it might as well be a flower field. "C'mon, Weiss, hang with us for a change."

"Yeah, Weiss!" another flower field cheered.

Raising an eyebrow at the large, veiny hand close to her elbow, Weiss contemplated crushing it but took the diplomatic approach instead. She pulled her hand from Ruby's to gather her things before anyone could try taking them and cleared her throat. The crowd grew silent, their breaths held in anticipation. Buttcheeks probably clenched. They were all hung on Weiss' word like the devout followers of a cult, but Ruby was over this annoying game and killed time by balancing a pencil on her upper lip.

"I already have plans." Weiss' powerful Alpha scent spiked causing everyone to back off except for Jaune who stood there clueless. "Tell the others I said 'hi,' Jaune," Weiss said with a magnanimous smile.

"Aw, okay," he pouted. "Will do."

"Sorry, Jaune," Ruby apologized knowing it was her fault Weiss was always so busy.

Weiss curiously watched them. And from the corner of Ruby's eye, she saw Weiss' upper lip slightly curl up.

"Let's go, Ruby, you're probably starving by now," Weiss said loudly, drawing the attention back to her. She caught Ruby's chin between her thumb and forefinger and kissed her without warning. It wasn't an innocent kiss meant to show a sweet, budding affection, but a hot and heavy one that marked Ruby as Weiss'. And when they pulled away, Weiss asked, in a low sultry tone that tickled the ears, "Will that tide you over until we get to our room?"

"Uh-huh," Ruby murmured with a slack-jawed smile, her thoughts slipping into dangerous, delightful territory.

"Good. Now, everyone," Weiss said, playfully tapping the tip of Ruby's left horn, "get out of the way before I make you."

The crowd promptly dispersed leaving Weiss and Ruby alone.

"Sorry about that," Weiss said, sighing heavily. "It's so annoying."

"Yeah, it is," Ruby agreed, shyly taking Weiss' hand. She loved it when Weiss made her feel like she was hers and hers alone. It gave her a small glimmer of hope that their relationship could go past mere friendship and food and become something more.

"It's a damn good thing you're a Succubus sometimes," Weiss muttered with annoyance clear in her voice. "As long as people know I'm your consort, I get left alone for most of the day. Thanks, Ruby."

"I…" Ruby blinked, her heart breaking as the depth of Weiss' words sank in. "Sure thing, Weiss," she said with a forced smile. "Hey, you wanna eat lunch with the others today?"

Weiss raised an eyebrow, her interest definitely piqued. "I'd love to, but are you going to be okay?"

"Yeah, totally," Ruby lied. "That kiss pretty much filled the tank. Also, I'm pretty sure they're serving steak today."

"Steak?" Weiss' eyes lit up at the word. And if she was in her wolf form, her tail would be wagging up a storm. "Are you sure it's steak? Because the last time you said it was steak, it was ribs. And you know how much I dislike ribs, Ruby. They get my hands all sticky and dirty."

"Yes, I'm sure," Ruby said, rolling her eyes. "Yang texted me today's menu while you were busy with your little 'fan club.' "

"Let's go then!" Weiss exclaimed, sounding more excited about a giant slab of meat than having sex.

"Right behind you, partner," Ruby said, listlessly tailing after Weiss.

The cafeteria was jam-packed with students of all shapes and sizes. Ruby had almost forgotten what being here was like, but when a particularly rowdy bunch rushed past her and Weiss to cut the line, she immediately remembered why she hated it. The smells and sounds were so intense, that Ruby began seeing stars. It was like being in a giant melting pot where all the uninhibited thoughts and desires swirled around, threatening to suffocate her until she devoured them all. She took a strangled breath and inadvertently swallowed a mouthful of a stranger's wanton needs. She gagged and gasped, trying to force it out. She didn't want it. She only wanted Weiss. Sweet, sensual Weiss who only thought of her when they touched and kissed.

"This was a bad idea," Weiss growled as she wrapped her arms around Ruby and held her close. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been so selfish—let's head back to the dorm."

"But your steak, Weiss! If we don't get it now, it'll be too late, so let's get that first before worrying about me, okay?" Ruby insisted once she cleared her palate with the taste of Weiss' protective feelings. "I feel better now anyways."

"No, we're getting you out of here," Weiss said, kissing Ruby's tense brow. "I'm so sorry, Ruby. I'm really, really sorry."

"No, Weiss, really—I'm okay!" To prove her point, Ruby pulled away and puffed out her chest and wings proudly. "See?" she said, putting her hands on her hips, tail swishing happily. "Right as rain again!"

Or she was until the tip of her wing accidentally grazed someone's posterior, sending a curious wave of desire shooting through Ruby's body nearly making her puke on the spot.

"Ruby!" Weiss shouted as she aggressively pulled Ruby back into her arms and forced her wings shut. "You stupid, silly girl, don't be stubborn and just come with me."

Ruby covered her mouth with a hand and forced the bile revolting in her stomach to stay down. "I'm okay, really!"

"I'd be more inclined to believe you if you weren't shaking like a leaf," Weiss sighed. "Look, if you still feel bad about me missing a steak lunch, you can pay me back by taking me to the park and throwing my ball this weekend, okay? Does that sound fair to you?"

Ruby carefully thought of the deal and giggled when she recalled the last time they went out to the park. A woman with her child called the city pound in fear when she saw Weiss chasing after a poor, defenceless bird on fire. Her cries to put Weiss down for endangering her baby and the safety of others were met with awkward laughter when Ruby showed the dog catchers Weiss' and Yang's student IDs with their species and secondary forms listed in bold letters.

"You're giggling," Weiss grumbled. "Why are you giggling?"

"No reason," Ruby smiled, kissing Weiss' cheek. "Let's head back."

"I don't like it when you act coy," Weiss grumbled.

Yang caught them on the way out. She was carrying an apple, a bottle of water, and what smelled like a tuna sandwich wrapped in tissue. She unceremoniously handed everything to Weiss, though she was careful not to squish the sandwich.

"Take care of her, okay?" Yang gruffly said to Weiss before turning her attention to Ruby.

There was a lot more on Yang's mind than she let on. She tried to speak several times, but nothing come out right, making her grow more frustrated than she needed to be. But Ruby knew her big sister well and threw her arms around her. The feeling of safety around Yang was different from the one Weiss gave off. It was warm, like a freshly laundered blanket with the familiar scent of lilacs and lavender; cosy, like home on a rainy day with a good book and a mug of steaming hot cocoa.

Ruby swallowed this feeling whole and felt everything wrong inside of her disappear. Poof! Gone. Just like magic.

"Ruby…"

"I'll be fine," Ruby cooed, squeezing her sister tight. "Weiss won't do anything I don't want. Plus, she passed all the tests, signed the papers, and did everything else Dr. Carlisle wanted. My one and only consort is top tier primo goods—if you know what I mean?" Ruby clicked her tongue and winked making Yang wince and die a little inside. "So don't worry, okay?"

"I know, and I'm not… I trust her," Yang murmured reluctantly as she returned the embrace, wary of the territorial Alpha watching them. "It's just hard to accept."

"You knew this would happen eventually, Yang," Ruby whispered.

"Yeah, I did, but that doesn't make it any easier. You'll always be my little sister no matter what happens." Pulling away from the embrace, Yang brushed the hair out of Ruby's eyes and kissed her forehead. "Now, go on and get out of here; I don't want you fainting on me—and crack open a window after your done! Me and Blake don't wanna smell what you two get up to."

Ruby shyly giggled at Yang, feeling like a blushing bride being given away on her wedding day. "I'll see you later, sis."

"Yeah, yeah," Yang said, stuffing her hands into her skirt pockets like she was too cool for school. She walked back into the cafeteria though she couldn't help but look back a few times.

Weiss took a bite of the apple and twisted the cap off the water bottle. "This was nice of them."

"You better be saving that sandwich for later," Ruby said, taking a turn with the apple and water. She bit where Weiss bit and drank where Weiss drank just so she could tease her consort and say thanks for the indirect kisses.

Weiss wasn't at all flustered though and took the apple, biting into it hungrily before offering it back to Ruby.

"No, I'm good," Ruby said, drinking a bit more water to quench her parched throat. They were getting close to their dorms and the anticipation was rising. "Hey," she said after a brilliant thought came to mind, "I have an idea."

"Oh no, are you okay?" Weiss teased.

"Hah! Funny." Ruby crossed her arms and pouted. "Are you going to listen or what?"

"I haven't said no to any of your 'brilliant ideas' before, now have I, oh mighty team leader?"

"For someone who's about to get their dick wet, you should probably be less snarky and more appreciative of me."

"But you like it when I'm snarky."

"Wha—I… you're mean," Ruby huffed, her nose crinkling.

"Again, you like it."

"Ugh!"

Weiss stifled a laugh and took Ruby's hand, putting an end to their little game. "What do you have in mind?"

"We can use my semblance to—"

"No."

"Wait, what happened to never saying 'no'?"

"I never said that," Weiss clarified. "I said I haven't said no yet, not that I won't. Ruby, the last time we tried this, you threw us into a wall—you nearly broke your arm and tail!"

"I've gotten better at it!" Ruby argued.

"Please, let's just calmly walk. I don't want to risk an injury just because you want to return home a little faster."

"A lot faster," Ruby pouted.

"Fine," Weiss muttered. "A lot faster. Happy?"

"Thank you," Ruby chirped, kissing Weiss' cheek as a reward.

Weiss got her wish and they calmly walked to the floor where their room was. It was a straight shot down the hallway with no one around. Ruby had completely given up on her plan, but, to her surprise, the floor lit up with a row of glyphs leading up to their room.

"Just this once."

"You're the best, Weiss!" Ruby screamed with excitement as she grabbed Weiss by the waist and shot off with her, leaving a flurry of rose petals behind them.

They hurried into their room, lips locked before they could even close the door. Ruby didn't waste any time and shoved Weiss against it just like in her fantasy. They ground against each other, tugging at hair and clothes to find anything to hold onto. Ruby could feel Weiss getting hard. The temptation to just go for it was difficult to deny, but Weiss' shirt was coming undone, revealing her delicate, pale neck and her beautiful shoulders. Ruby licked her lips and nipped at the skin, teasing it with her teeth. An angry growl rumbled through Weiss' throat, her hands grabbing Ruby roughly.

"Don't do that," she warned, flipping them around so Ruby was the one against the door. "You know what that area means."

"I do," Ruby said, running her hands up the sides of Weiss' legs before grabbing her ass and dragging her forward. Ruby groaned with pleasure when she felt Weiss' erection dig deep into the gap between her thighs. "You feel so good." Weiss responded by thrusting against her. "Again."

Weiss' alpha musk and the taste of her lust was intoxicating. Ruby had never been drunk before, never even had a sip, but she was sure this was how it felt because she was ready to do just about anything to have Weiss inside her. They'd never gone that far before though. It was always handholding or light kisses, maybe a bit of tongue when Ruby was feeling a little more peckish. It only became what it is now recently to adjust for Ruby's growing appetite, but even this didn't feel enough—she needed the main course.

Their clothes were quickly coming off, one by one without a clear order in mind. Ruby had taken it upon herself to strip Weiss down as fast as she could without her noticing. It was a tricky task but not an impossible one with the use of proper technique. Weiss tended to lose her sense of self once she got a hold of Ruby. She wasn't as quick to bark back and was mostly content to have Ruby's focus on her. The taste of her lust changed too. It took on a lighter texture like when she was flustered or shy. It also became sweeter. Well, sweeter than normal. Ruby liked to think it was the prelude to a more meaningful desire like the ones she tasted in Weiss' deepest dreams.

They were on Weiss' bed now, fully undressed, exchanging more kisses than words. Ruby had found that Weiss was more teeth and growls than what the books told her to expect when the engine started running. There wasn't a fight for dominance or any plays for control, she merely followed what Ruby wanted and left her own pleasure up to Ruby's whims.

Ruby groaned under the pressure, her body desperate for Weiss to take the next step. She begged for her to be bolder, pleaded to her Alpha even, but Weiss remained focused on the juncture between Ruby's neck and shoulder, mesmerized. The call to mark, to claim and possess, was supposed to be impossible to ignore when given the chance, but Ruby never felt the need to worry. Weiss wasn't the sort to mark someone against their will, not that Ruby wasn't willing, but they were far too young to be thinking of forever just yet.

"What do you want, Ruby?" Weiss asked as she slowly slipped a hand between Ruby's legs.

"Anything you want," Ruby moaned, basking under Weiss' careful attention.

"Be a little more specific." Weiss began another long trail of kisses leading from the base of Ruby's left horn down to her breasts where she meandered, teasing a nipple with her teeth and tongue. "Tell me what you need."

"Anything?" Ruby asked with a hint of trepidation in her voice.

"Anything," Weiss repeated as she sat up and stretched, giving Ruby quite the show.

If beauty could be defined with a single word and photo, Weiss' name would come up and this moment would be immortalized forever. She wasn't like any other Alpha Ruby had seen before. She was small in stature, lithe but strong like a ballerina who'd trained for decades to steal the show. Yang liked to joke that Weiss was just aerodynamic, but she'd never seen Weiss glide majestically through the air on her glyphs the way Ruby did.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. And she was all Ruby's.

Ruby eyed Weiss' impressive cock and licked her lips. It was now or never. Weiss had provided her with enough energy to last until dinner and maybe midnight, but it didn't feel right to end it before they were both satisfied. Slipping out from under Weiss, Ruby gently pushed her down and got on top of her. Weiss didn't question her, but she did look quite confused.

"Weiss, do you like me?" Ruby asked, biting her bottom lip. She knew the answer was a resounding "no" from the logical side of Weiss' brain, so she was asking the wolf side for a crumb to give her courage.

"Yes," was the surprising answer though. Weiss looked up at Ruby with a soft, loving look she'd only seen in Weiss' dreams.

"R-Really?" Ruby blushed, the gears in her head grinding to a stop. She was shocked. Well and truly shocked. Even if it was just meant as friends, Weiss had never admitted to feeling anything for Ruby other than a mild, lukewarm tolerance.

Weiss ran her hands down the length of Ruby's body, her thumbs tracing the outlines of Ruby's taut muscles with the delicate touch of an artisan molding her masterpiece. "You are so beautiful, Ruby."

"I… you're not lying are you?" Ruby asked with trepidation. She was suddenly extremely aware of her nudity and crossed her arms over her chest.

"No," Weiss smiled. "Why the look?"

Scratching her head, Ruby uncrossed her arms and sat on Weiss ' hips. "I've been thinking this for a while now, but you are one strange Alpha, Ms. Schnee."

"Hmph, how so?" Weiss asked with a hint of amusement tickling her tone.

"Well, for starters, we've been sleeping together for a couple of weeks now, but you've never pushed me to go all the way," Ruby said, pointing out the most glaring subject. "You also don't chase the Omegas around like a horndog." Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Well, it's true!"

"I'm not here to screw around, Ruby. I'm here to become a huntress," Weiss said. "I refuse to let my biological need to seek out a mate get in the way of reclaiming my family's legacy."

"And me?" Ruby asked, her shoulders dropping. "Where do I fit in all this?"

"You are my partner, and as annoying as you are, you're…" Weiss scrunched up her nose like she was about to say something unsavoury. "Ugh, you're my friend, Ruby," she managed to force out. "My closet friend."

"I'm sitting on your dick."

Weiss snorted, her smile returning in full force. "How can anyone think you're some innocent little girl when you talk like this?"

"I'm okay with it," Ruby slyly chuckled. "Makes it easy to shock them."

"I don't think Jaune'll ever recover from the smoothie incident," Weiss laughed along.

"That wasn't my fault and you know it!" Ruby huffed in faux annoyance. "I'm a Succubus. I thrive off of sexual energy and fluids—what did he think was in that cup?!"

"An actual smoothie?"

"It sort of was. It had strawberries, bananas, and—"

"My semen."

"Yeah, whatever! I can get it straight from the source now." To prove her point, Ruby patted Weiss' chest and gave her a little scratch behind the ears. "You're tastier than any steak and juicier than a ripe tomato. I can have you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and never get tired of you."

"I will never get used to that," Weiss muttered to herself with an astonished look.

"Intermission over!" Ruby boldly announced, stealing a quick peek at the clock.

"What do you want to do today, Ruby?"

"I want to go all the way."

Weiss sniffed the air, her left eyebrow rising in question. "You're nervous."

"This is my first time, of course I'm nervous," Ruby said, laughing at herself for even trying to hide from Weiss' powerful nose.

"If you're sure you're ready then okay," Weiss said. "We don't have a lot of time left though, so why don't we put a pin on it here and schedule something for the weekend? I can take you out to a nice restaurant and book us a hotel—make things a little more romantic for the both of us—what do you say?"

While the idea sounded lovely—perfect even— Ruby didn't want it. Weiss smelled her fear and understood what Ruby wanted to say before she could even formulate the right words.

"I really, really like you, Weiss," Ruby said, her gaze darting between Weiss' pretty pink lips and her calm blue eyes. "I want this."

Weiss closed the gap between them, their kisses soft and gentle. She laid Ruby on her back and licked the base of her left horn, sending a pleasurable shiver running down Ruby's spine making her toes curl. Ruby tried to stifle her moans by biting down on her bottom lip, but her horns were incredibly sensitive and Weiss knew where and when to kiss and bite her. She felt like a video game character reacting to the buttons Weiss pressed.

Ruby came not long after.

"Weiss," she weakly panted.

"Feeling good?" Weiss asked as she inched back to sit between Ruby's legs.

Wiping the sweat off her brow, Ruby tiredly blinked. "What are you doing now?"

"Tell me if anything hurts, okay?" Weiss said, her lips brushing against Ruby's clit. "I mean it, Ruby. If you feel any discomfort, you tell me right away. Got it?"

Ruby managed to squeak out a weak "uh-huh" before Weiss ran the broad side of her tongue up Ruby's wet slit.

They'd done this a few times in the past when Ruby burned more calories than she thought she would. It still felt a little weird and ticklish at the start having Weiss prod around with her tongue, but Ruby attributed that to her general lack of experience than Weiss' delicate and gentle technique.

Ruby let out a loud groan when she felt two fingers slip inside her while Weiss moved the tip of her tongue in slow, tenacious circles. A third finger joined followed shortly by the tip of a fourth.

"Ow, hey!" Ruby winced. "What are you doing?"

"To see if you can take my knot." Weiss carefully pulled out and kissed Ruby as an apology. "I don't think you're ready for that yet, so I'll try to pull out before that."

"What? No!" Ruby huffed. "I want the full experience!"

"If we had more time to prepare then maybe," Weiss said as she leaned back and squared the tip of her cock against Ruby's entrance. She pushed it in a bit and gauged Ruby's reaction carefully. When Ruby nodded to continue, Weiss pushed it in a little further before pulling back and thrusting deeper. She kept this steady pace going until she bottomed out. "Are you okay?" Weiss asked, brushing the hair out of Ruby's eyes. "Nothing hurts?"

"It's a little uncomfortable," Ruby answered honestly, adjusting the pillow so her horns didn't dig into the fabric. She had ruined three in the past and didn't want to add a fourth to add onto her conscience. "Keep going."

"It's, uh… it's a little colder in here than I thought it'd be," Weiss chuckled as she slowly began thrusting again, making sure to hold Ruby's hand throughout.

"Sorry," Ruby blushed, taking deep breaths.

"No, no, I like it," Weiss smiled, kissing Ruby's cheek. "It's kind of refreshing to be perfectly honest."

"Really? Oh—" Ruby gasped when Weiss hit a really, really, really good spot. Weiss was still speaking, but Ruby's mind had gone foggy. "Oh wow."

Sweet and fluffy with a savoury meatiness to it—this was what lovemaking tasted like. It was a perfect combination of love and lust with the sharp tang of excitement trailing close behind.

Ruby groaned in pleasure when Weiss pulled out and thrust herself in again in one swift motion, jostling Ruby out of her airy thoughts. Sharp teeth nipped at Ruby's neck, teasing the skin where a mark would go, only this time the risk was quite real. Ruby had never seen Weiss lose herself to her desires like this—not even in her wildest dreams. Thinking fast, Ruby pulled Weiss in for a kiss and held onto her tight.

Weiss' thrusts were picking up speed; they were both close. That was when Ruby felt something swelling inside her and quickly realized it was Weiss' knot.

"Pull out. Pull out, Weiss!" Ruby winced, the swell of Weiss' knot stretching her far more than the four fingers Weiss tested. "Weiss!"

Weiss ripped herself away from Ruby, hand over her mouth with a look of absolute disgust. Ruby tried to reach for her, but Weiss backed away until she fell off the bed.

"Are you okay?" Ruby asked as she scrambled over to check on Weiss.

"No, I'm not okay!" Weiss roared in frustration as she got up and backed away even further. "I hurt you!"

"It was an accident!" Ruby huffed in annoyance, more at herself than Weiss. "Please come back, I want to try again."

"No," Weiss firmly said as she undid her ponytail and shook her hair out. "I'm going to take a shower. Don't follow me."

"But what about—"

"I can finish in a cup if you still need it, but I'm really not in the mood to continue."

"No, it's okay," Ruby said with a crestfallen sigh.

Weiss gathered all her clothes without saying another word, but the look on her face told Ruby there was nothing she could do to fix it.

Pulling her legs to her chest, Ruby let out a defeated sigh and willed herself to get dressed after taking a moment to decompress. She also cracked the window open and sprayed the room with an air freshener as promised. And it was only after the room smelled like a crisp ocean breeze that Ruby realized she'd been scented.

"Aw, Weiss." Ruby let out a little chuckle as she pulled her lapels up to her nose and breathed it all in. Her consort, her lover, and maybe something more if they could work things out—Ruby wanted to spend all day swaddled in this soothing scent.

Weiss stepped out of the shower looking as fresh as a daisy. She was only gone for a few minutes, but it was enough to raise Ruby's alarms. She quickly sniffed the air and sighed with relief; Weiss still smelled like her.

"How are you feeling?" Weiss asked as she brushed Ruby's bangs away and cupped her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I let instinct take over and—I didn't mark you did I?" Weiss yanked Ruby's collar down and saw the beginnings of a nasty bruise but no bite marks. "Ruby, please tell me I didn't mark you!"

"Relax, Weiss, you didn't," Ruby said, fixing her clothes before Weiss could tear them off to double-check. "And would it really be so bad if you did? Accidents happen and we clearly like each other—well, I certainly do at least. What about you?"

"I…" Weiss took a step back, anxiously rubbing her forearm.

As the seconds passed and the silence grew louder, Ruby swallowed her pride and forced a smile. Still no change.

"I get it, don't worry—hey, we should probably start heading to class," Ruby said, fighting back the tears.

Ruby had a foot out the door by the time Weiss snapped out of her thoughts.

"Wait! Ruby, listen," she said, catching up to Ruby and taking her hand. "Your feelings aren't wholly unrequited."

"That doesn't mean they're reciprocated either," Ruby said, snatching her hand back. "It's fine, Weiss, don't push yourself. I know I'm not worthy of being yours, so let's just drop it before things get even more awkward."

"What? Ruby, no!" Weiss huffed in frustration. "It's the total opposite—I'm the one that's not worthy of you!"

Ruby blinked, her jaw-dropping.

"Werewolves mate for life, Ruby," Weiss said in a quieter more thoughtful tone. "What we have is fine for now, but what happens when we're older? You're going to need more energy than I can provide. And if I mark you, anyone with a working nose will know to stay away. How are you going to build a harem to feed yourself if you have me around? You're going to starve to death, Ruby!"

Weiss' voice echoed through the empty hall like a poignant howl.

Another pregnant silence hung in the air.

Ruby eased up her stance and said the only words she could think of. "Is that all? Is that really all that's stopping you from being with me?" Weiss looked visibly shocked, but Ruby wasn't having it. She pinched the bridge of her nose and forced out a long, heavy sigh through her gritted teeth. "I don't want to be like the others of my kind who treat their partners like they're just there for food and a good time. I want a connection—I want to fall in love and I want a family someday! I don't want someone with me just because I need to have sex to survive… that's just… that's just a cruel way to live."

"Things are too uncertain, Ruby," Weiss insisted, trying to get Ruby to see her point. "I don't want to fall victim to my instincts again. So if you want to keep me on as your consort, please don't ask me to do what we did today again…"

"Okay," Ruby said without a fight, her tail swaying sadly.

The rest of the day was abysmal for Ruby. Weiss avoided her at every turn and sat as far away from her as she could. And when it came to dinner, Weiss gave Ruby a strawberry smoothie before heading off to the cafeteria to join the others. Ruby tried to follow after her, but the throng of hungry students all packed together like sardines was too much for her poor nose and tummy, so she went back to the dorms alone and spent the rest of the night studying in Weiss' bed.

Yang's and Nora's laughter echoed through the halls signalling everyone's return. Ruby threw open the door, ready to yell at her partner, but Weiss wasn't amongst the group.

Blake clued in first and said, "She's in the library."

"Oh…" Ruby's shoulders slumped, head hung low as she stepped aside to let her team in. She noticed Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora standing by their door awkwardly, unsure of what to say or how to explain the mood.

Thankfully, she didn't have to.

"We'll catch you guys in the morning," Yang announced with her arm slung around Ruby's neck.

"Alright, goodnight," Pyrrha said as she wrangled her curious team into their own dorm.

Once the door was locked, Ruby shuffled back to Weiss' bed and slid under the covers. She curled herself into a ball and turned away from the others, preparing to spend the night alone.

Yang took a seat at the edge of the bed and stroked Ruby's head, careful to avoid touching her horns.

"Did you get into a fight with Weiss?" she asked, peeking over to see Ruby's face.

"No."

"Then why's Weiss being extra… Weissy?"

"You really don't wanna know, Yang," Ruby grumbled, pulling the blanket tighter around herself. "You should probably get off her bed. You know how much she hates it when people touch her stuff."

"Oh, right." Yang hopped off the bed like it was made of water and began pacing about. The heat around her was rising and her hair was glowing like sparks shooting off flint. Yang was in big sister mode, wracking her brain for ways to fix whatever was upsetting Ruby, but this was a situation she couldn't touch. "Well, if it's worth anything to you," she said with her hands falling limply to her sides,
I hope you guys work things out."

"She'll be back eventually," Blake chimed in from the other side of the room.

"Weiss isn't above renting a hotel to avoid us," Yang pointed out with a hint of anger in her tone.

"Normally, I'd agree with you, but I have it on good authority that Weiss is legitimately in the library to study."

"How do you know?" Ruby asked, sitting up to face her.

Blake let out a low frustrated groan and showed off a nasty looking textbook with words that were too long for Ruby's short attention span to read.

"Wait," Yang said, squinting her eyes at it, "is that for the test you've been stressing out all week for?"

"Mhm," Blake pouted. "I'm actually heading over to the library right now to study with Weiss and a few others from our class."

"Really?" When Blake nodded, Ruby let out the breath she'd been holding and fell back into bed. "Thanks, Blake. I owe ya one."

"No problem," Blake chuckled.

After Blake left, Ruby and Yang did some studying of their own before heading to bed. Yang was out like a light, but Ruby kept tossing and turning. She'd gotten so used to falling asleep to the sound of Weiss' breathing and her all-encompassing warmth that it felt wrong to be here without her. The temptation to fetch Weiss was almost impossible to deny, but Ruby held fast and continued to hope Weiss would eventually come home.

Hours ticked by slowly. Blake came back at around midnight and went to bed, but still no Weiss. Ruby was officially beginning to worry that she'd spend the night without her consort.

Blake was fast asleep now, her soft breathing a stark contrast to the roaring chainsaw above her. How she managed to catch any sleep was a mystery. But at 1 p.m, the door creaked open and shut.

"Weiss?" Ruby whispered, peeking out from under the blankets. She watched her consort tiredly walk over and slide in next to her, arm tossed over Ruby's waist. "Goodnight."

Weiss responded by pulling her closer.

Sighing in contentment, Ruby snuggled deeper under the blanket, her consciousness slowly drifting away. And when she opened her eyes next, she found herself in front of a large rustic house with tall windows and a beautifully scaped lawn with a pond. She walked inside and noticed the home was more well-defined than in her previous forays into this particular dream. There were more knickknacks scattered about like lush, vibrant house plants, some colourful toys left haphazardly in the hall, and photographs lining the walls. The house felt lived in—it felt real. Then she heard the telltale signs of a happy family making a mess in the kitchen.

Ruby looked at her left hand and kissed the silver ring she had on. One day, she thought, one day this ring would be on her finger in real life. But until then, she'd be content with this blissful dream.

"I'm home!" Ruby loudly announced as she poked her head into the kitchen. An older Weiss was standing by the oven covered head to toe in flour and batter. "Hi."

"You're home early," Weiss said, wiping her hands on her apron.

"Not too early, I hope?"

Weiss gave her a warm smile and shook her head. "Perfectly punctual as always."

"I missed you," Ruby said, taking the time to appreciate her wife's presence.

"What about us, Momma?!" shouted two little girls as they tackle-hugged Ruby's waist.

"Of course I missed you too," Ruby said, unable to remember their names or decipher their faces from the dream's fog.

"We're baking cookies!" the taller of the two announced.

"Your favourite kind!" the younger one added.

"Really?" Ruby gasped, pretending to be just as excited as her daughters.

"Mama burned the first batch though," the older one snickered.

"Hey!" Weiss huffed with her arms crossed. "I wouldn't have burnt them if you two didn't insist on making more!"

Ruby stifled a laugh.

The dream shifted and they were in their bedroom. Weiss had just stepped out of the shower wearing nothing but a loose robe and towel. She was making some idle chatter by rambling on about the weather tomorrow and what to pack for lunch while she got ready for bed.

They were in their own little bubble. Nothing existed outside of it.

"I love you," Weiss whispered, her lips leaving a trail of searing hot kisses leading towards the mark on Ruby's shoulder. She teased the skin around it with her fangs, biting down gently between thrusts.

Ruby whispered the words back, doing everything in her power to keep this little piece of heaven going.

"I love you," Weiss said again.

Ruby's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the dawn of a new day. Yang and Blake were still in bed, fast asleep, but Weiss was gone and so were her things.

"Damn it," Ruby cursed with a little burp chasing after.

Weiss' dream had stuffed her completely, like a three-course meal at her favourite restaurant. But as Ruby got up, she realized she was too full. She felt heavy and bloated, so food was the last thing on her mind. But lo and behold, there was another special smoothie waiting for her on the nightstand with a little note from Weiss saying she might be late for lunch.

Ruby reluctantly reached for it and took a sip. Strawberry and bananas with a little something-something added in for a growing Succubus. It was good to know that even if they were fighting, her consort wouldn't leave her to starve and suffer.

"Mm, morning, Ruby," Blake murmured, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Morning, Blake!" Ruby beamed, her tail swinging happily.

"Did Weiss come back?"

"Yup."

"That's good to hear." Blake yawned and turned to face away from the light. She fell asleep again, leaving Ruby alone with her thoughts and her special smoothie.

Ruby didn't want to risk another Jaune incident and carried her smoothie with her throughout the morning, taking little sips here and there to stretch it out. The smoothie and all the energy she had stored from last night's dream ran dry just in time for lunch. And judging by the hungry gazes directed towards her, Ruby had a sinking feeling she was hungrier than she realized.

Yang was thankfully immune to the Succubus' Pull so she kept Ruby safe until they found Weiss. But when they did, something primal took over Ruby and she saw red.

Weiss was with an Omega, a tall, pretty woman with long fluffy hair, rosy cheeks, and a bright, perfect smile that was hard to refuse. They were talking—just talking—with a respectable space between them, but Ruby could see the telltale signs of someone preening for attention. Weiss was blissfully unaware of this, which was strange for an Alpha so high up in the hierarchy, but that didn't change anything.

Ruby stood taller with her wings flared out.

"You okay?" Yang asked with a hand on Ruby's shoulder.

Ruby paused to look at her sister and gasped when she realized she was looking straight at her instead of up. A piece of her childhood died at that moment. But Ruby couldn't dwell on it for long because a loud girlish laugh echoed through the hall, drawing her attention away from Yang and back to the bitch presenting her neck, hoping to catch Weiss' eye.

"Weiss!" Ruby called out as she zipped over to her consort, leaving a trail of rose petals fluttering behind her. She threw her arms around Weiss' neck and hugged her like they'd been apart for years.

"Hello, Ruby," Weiss grumbled, angry that her conversation was interrupted. "Could you give me a minute here? Hello, Yang."

"Hey, Weiss." Yang waved from behind Ruby. "How'd the test go?"

"I think I died," Weiss whimpered.

"Sounds brutal."

"You have no idea," the Omega chimed in with an equally grim expression. "Weiss and the rest of our study group did pretty well though."

"I know Blake and I did exceptionally well, but Rothschild looked like he was struggling," Weiss added, perking up a bit.

"Definitely!" the Omega laughed, flipping her hair off her shoulder, sending a wave of her disgusting Omega pheromones wafting towards Weiss.

But once again, Weiss was completely unaffected. She was also seemingly immune to the Succubus Pull which only got stronger the more possessive and hungry Ruby got. And judging by the curious, hungry gazes of the few brave and stupid enough to drift closer, Ruby was starving.

"How did you do on question twenty-one: a?" Weiss asked.

Upset that Weiss' attention was on someone else while she was starving for affection, Ruby draped her wings around Weiss' waist and interrupted the conversation again.

"Thanks for helping me find Weiss, Yang," she said, flashing her sister a big toothy grin with forced cheer.

"No problem, um, I guess I'll see you guys later," Yang said, taking the hint she was no longer needed. She awkwardly shifted between her feet before waving and walking away.

The hungry crowd was growing denser by the second, but Weiss still refused to budge despite Ruby's subtle urging.

"Soooo," the Omega said, holding her books below her chest, "is this your partner?"

Weiss eyed Ruby with a deep-seated frown and muttered, "Unfortunately."

"She's cute."

"I suppose—if you like things that cling to you nonstop with feet colder than the Atlas flatlands," Weiss said without a struggle as Ruby clung to her even tighter.

"Hey, is it true that you're a Succubus?" the Omega boldly asked Ruby, her ample chest rising with pride as she presented herself to the most desirable Alpha on school grounds. Her gaze flitted between Ruby and Weiss as she bit her lip and played with her hair.

"Um… yeah." Ruby shyly shrank back behind Weiss, her wings rising up to cover both their shoulders like a cloak. "Why do you ask?"

Weiss wrapped a protective arm around Ruby's waist, and even though she knew the omega could hear them, she still whispered "you're prettier" in Ruby's ear.

"I heard you guys are pretty rare—like, almost extinct rare. Is that true?"

Ruby sank deeper into her shoulders, nose pressed against Weiss' neck, breathing her Alpha scent in.

"Are you two a couple?" the Omega asked, enviously eyeing how intertwined Ruby and Weiss were.

Ruby noticed a substantial spike in the Omega's arousal and urgently tugged on Weiss' blazer. But Weiss didn't back down.

"That's none of your business," Weiss coldly muttered, her powerful Alpha scent fighting to suppress the noxious fumes closing in on them.

"Sorry!" the Omega yelped, backing down and baring her neck to Weiss. "Um… I…"

"It was nice seeing you," Weiss said, standing tall. "I hope you did well on the test."

"Thank you."

The Omega scampered off with her tail between her legs leaving Ruby and Weiss and anyone stupid enough to stay behind. The most notable onlooker was a large Alpha with muscles as big as his head and a couple of Omegas and Betas standing close by. He fearlessly stepped up to Weiss, undoubtedly enticed by the Succubus' Pull, and cracked his knuckles.

"Is that supposed to be intimidating?" Weiss asked, putting herself between Ruby and the other Alpha.

"Not at all, little puppy," he cooed sarcastically as he brushed his muddy blonde hair back, flexed his pecs, and flashed Ruby a smarmy grin. "Hey, gorgeous, why don't you ditch the shrimp and come with me and my pack?" He threw a thumb behind him towards a group of guys and girls all itching to get their hands on Ruby. "Got some real thick studs and a couple of sexy ladies here who wanna get to know you better."

"Ew," Ruby gagged, her face turning green. She covered her mouth with a hand, praying she didn't throw up on Weiss' back. She honestly couldn't believe this third rate Alpha with a rotten scent like month old expired milk, meat, and trash was trying to entice her.

Weiss snorted out a laugh, amused by Ruby's unrestricted disgust.

"What's so funny, pup?"

"This silly show you're putting on," Weiss smirked as she took Ruby's hand and told her to unfurl her wings. "You think you're all that just because you're big and burly, but I have news for you—you're nothing."

The other Alpha let out a booming laugh that rippled through his pack making them seem more like hyenas than noble wolves like Weiss.

"Look who's putting on a show now?" the other Alpha laughed, gesturing back to the pack to continue mocking Weiss.

"Leave us alone," Weiss demanded firmly.

"Mm, no. No, I don't think I will because you're not fit to be a Succubus' consort," the other Alpha said. He glanced at Ruby, dragging his eyes down her body and then back up to her horns. "Are those bite marks?" he asked with a steadily growing smirk. "Holy shit, they are! You're freakier than I thought! Hey guys, check it out! She's got a taste for the wild side!"

The hyenas started whispering amongst themselves excitedly like they'd just learned something juicy.

"Ey, c'mere and lemme get a closer look." The other Alpha reached for Ruby's horns, but a brilliant pale blue glyph appeared in the middle of his forearm, stopping him dead in his track. "What? Hey!" he screamed as he tried to free his arm to no avail. "Let me go, you crazy bitch!"

"Don't you dare touch her," Weiss hissed.

"She isn't yours!"

"Ruby doesn't belong to anyone!"

Weiss' Alpha scent spiked again, only this time it continued to rapidly rise, easily overtaking the other Alpha's scent and Ruby's ravenous Succubus Pull. But it didn't stop there. Weiss' scent blanketed the hallway like a thick layer of undisturbed snow on an old mountain pass—cold, beautiful, and impossible to deny.

"Submit, pup."

The rancid Alpha and his pack backed down without a word and made way for Weiss and Ruby to pass.

"My sincere apologizes," the other Alpha mumbled with wide fearful eyes.

"Don't ever cross our paths again," Weiss said, barely giving him a passing glance. The glyph disappeared and the other Alpha fell to his knees, rubbing his arm.

Weiss whisked Ruby back to their dorm where they recklessly tore at each other's clothes between passionate kisses. Weiss was like a different person as she ravaged Ruby but was still as sweet as candy on Ruby's tongue. And by the time they fell into bed, Weiss had left a visible mark on Ruby's neck and a few on her chest. Ruby was loving the attention though and savoured each kiss like her favourite meal. But with her belly full to the brim, the Succubus Pull lost its potency, releasing Weiss from the lustful haze she was under. At first, she was confused and then she was downright embarrassed.

"I'm so sorry, Ruby!" she said as sat up and checked on Ruby. "I don't know what came over me."

"I did," Ruby blushed. Weiss pulled her left hand out from under Ruby's skirt and blushed when she saw how slick her fingers and palm were. "Sorry."

Weiss awkwardly offered her hand to Ruby. "Do you want to, uh..."

The question was left hanging in the air like the angel ornament Yang made as a kid using sanitary pads, tape, and a bit of yellow food dye.

"No, I'm good," Ruby replied just as awkwardly. "My goo doesn't taste as good as yours even if it is coming off you."

"Could you pass the tissue then?"

After cleaning themselves up and tidying their clothes, Ruby and Weiss sat on opposite sides of the bed, unable to look at each other. Ruby spent that time twiddling her thumbs trying to think of something to break the tension, but nothing felt right or appropriate enough to pull them out of this funk. Weiss was a lot braver than Ruby though and took it upon herself to do what she couldn't.

"I'm sorry for putting you in that situation," Weiss murmured after the silence and Ruby's incessant fidgeting got too much for her.

"It wasn't your fault," Ruby said with a smile as she playfully bumped her head against Weiss'. Weiss bumped her back and it became a little game between them until another silence fell, but it was a comfortable one where they both acknowledged each other's part in the problem.

Ruby gently took Weiss' hand while she shyly scooted closer and nuzzled her cheeks and nose against the crook of Ruby's neck. The action had a bit of force to it—an urgency—like a puppy asking for a walk or begging for food. And from what Ruby studied about werewolf culture, she understood that, depending on the context, this was their way of seeking forgiveness from a partner or someone they held dear. This action was mostly reserved for Omegas and young pups though so when an Alpha did it, it was a sign of deep respect and devotion.

"I didn't like seeing you with that Omega," Ruby painfully admitted. "She was obviously flirting with you, but you were just ignoring it. Why?"

"Because I have no interest in her?" Weiss said as she straightened her already immaculate clothes and hair. "And even if I was, what right do you have to interfere?"

"Well, I—"

"Ruby, I've said this before and I'll say it again, your appetite is growing exponentially and it'll get to the point where I can't satisfy your needs alone." Weiss looked down at her lap, hands clasped together. "I will do all that I can for you. You're my partner and my best friend above all else, but I can't commit myself to something unsustainable."

"This again?" Ruby groaned.

"Yes, 'this again' because I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation here."

Ruby glowered at Weiss. "I understand completely."

"No, I really don't think you do," Weiss growled, her Alpha scent accidentally spiking. Though instead of the crisp snowy plain Ruby was familiar with, it reeked of fear and anxiety, like she was backed into a corner with no way out. "I know I shouldn't be greedy with your time or act like you belong solely to me, but my brain keeps telling me otherwise. It tells me you're mine and that no one else can have you—I have to fight to stop myself from treating every person that looks at you as a potential challenger to my claim on you… I hate it, Ruby. I hate it. This isn't me."

"Why do you have to fight it?" Ruby asked, gripping the bed sheets tight to avoid throttling her stupid self-sacrificing consort for thinking something so asinine. "I'm yours and no one else's."

"I'm flattered, but have you really considered what'll happen in the future when we're mated and the mark keeps every possible suitor away from you?"

Hung up on the word "when" not "if," Ruby's mind drifted to the idyllic recurring dream she devoured last night. The more she tasted it, the more she wanted it to become reality.

"I wouldn't mind at all," Ruby murmured with a dreamy smile. "It sounds perfect actually."

"Ugh, why won't this sink in? You're going to starve, Ruby!" Weiss angrily roared as she shot up from the bed to confront Ruby head-on. "You are going to starve," she repeated with emphasis, pain and tears clear in her eyes. "I have read and studied every book available to me about your people, but there hasn't been any recorded evidence of a Succubus claiming a single partner and living a long, healthy life."

Ruby was stunned and hurt by the dismissal, but she still went to Weiss and held her.

"They lived to their early forties at most," Weiss murmured as she rested her forehead against Ruby's shoulder and weakly returned the embrace. "Losing a mate is like having the other half of your soul ripped away from you. It can drive you insane…"

"We're studying to become huntresses, Weiss. Anything can happen to us without warning," Ruby said, her wings instinctively wrapping themselves around Weiss. "If I'm going to die young, I want to die without any regrets. And I know that if I let you go, I'll be making the single biggest mistake of my life… you're all I need, Weiss. Why can't you see that?"

Ruby's words hung in the air like a balloon filled with all her hopes and dreams. But instead of taking the string and gently bringing it back down to earth, Weiss chose to pop it.

"That's… that's wonderful to hear, and truly, I'm flattered, but I still don't want to risk it." Weiss pulled away and took a step back, her tear-filled eyes looking everywhere but at Ruby. "I'm going to head to the cafeteria and see if there's any food left. Will you be okay by yourself?"

Ruby stared at Weiss in disbelief, muttering, "Y-Y-Yeah. Yeah, I'll be fine."

"Okay, um…" Weiss nervously kneaded her hands together and gnawed on her bottom lip. "You've got an appointment with Dr. Carlisle after lunch, right?" she asked, her eyes peeking up before darting away again.

"Mhm."

The taste of bitter medicine and old rotten fruit flooded Ruby's mouth making her salivate and heave.

Weiss looked worried, but instead of asking if Ruby was alright, she said, "I'll take notes for you."

"Thanks."

"I'll see you in a bit then."

Ruby closed the door behind Weiss and weakly stumbled back into bed. Her thoughts were reeling making her upset stomach even angrier. She tried to settle it down by taking in some deep breaths but each one was more difficult than the last. Her tears were freely falling at this point so she grabbed her pillow and screamed until her voice gave out.

After the tears died down and Ruby caught her breath, she freshened up and used the time between now and her doctor's appointment to think about the horrid taste in her mouth. It stuck to her like a thick paste even though she'd brushed her teeth and gargled some mouthwash.

The door to the exam room opened and Dr. Carlisle walked in with his slate-blue eyes focused on a manila folder filled with Ruby's documents. He looked up to check if she was in the room and smiled when he saw her.

"Has it been a month already?" he asked, pushing his thick-rimmed glasses up.

"Yup," Ruby replied with a less than cheery tone. Dr. Carlisle gave Ruby a once-over and nodded as he jotted something down. "How've you been, Doc?"

"I've been good, thank you for asking," he replied, closing the folder. "First thing's first, I'd like to check your height and weight, can you follow me please?"

Dr. Carlisle led Ruby to a weight and height scale and took her measurements. He seemed impressed by Ruby's growth and said, "You're up by an inch since we last saw each other. You've also maintained a healthy weight. Have you noticed any other changes?"

"My horns feel a little heavier and my, um"—Ruby shyly gestured to her breasts—"they feel bigger. My clothes are starting to feel a little tight too…"

"Hm." Dr. Carlisle led Ruby back to the medical bed and had her take a seat while he went to his desk and wrote down some notes. "Make sure you wear properly-fitted garments," he said carefully to avoid causing Ruby any discomfort. "Anything else?"

Ruby fiddled with the tip of her left wing and shrugged. "Not really?"

"What about your diet? Any changes to that?"

"Nope, it's still the same as it was last time."

That made Dr. Carlisle take pause. "Can you explain further?"

"I mean it," Ruby murmured. "I get hungry, yeah, but not to the point where I lose myself to it."

"Have things progressed with Ms. Schnee?"

"Yes and no?" Ruby shrugged. "We tried going all the way the other day—I mean, we did go all the way—but we didn't finish."

Dr. Carlisle's eyes narrowed, his lips pulling thin. "What do you mean? Were you two interrupted because I can acquire proper accommodations for you two—"

"No! No, we weren't—there's no need to go out of your way for us." Ruby ruffled her hair in frustration as she shrunk in on herself causing her wings to rise in defence. "I wasn't exactly prepared to take the knot… it was easy in her dreams. But in real life? Not so much."

"Have there been other attempts?"

"No," Ruby pouted.

Dr. Carlisle tapped his pen on the table, eyes narrowed at Ruby in focus. "And you're sure you're not hungry?"

"Nope, not at all," Ruby shrugged again. "I honestly got way too full during foreplay. I was kind of worried I'd throw up on her, but I didn't, so everything after was a bonus."

"Interesting…" Dr. Carlisle quietly hummed. "Ms. Schnee is a particularly virile member of her species. But to supply a Succubus at such a crucial stage in her life alone… say, has Ms. Schnee marked someone?"

"No."

"Peculiar," Dr. Carlisle muttered under his breath. "I'll have to call her in to ask some questions, but do you have any theories?"

"Well, I know she's in love with me," Ruby said with a shy giddiness to her tone. She tried to keep a calm and mature demeanour around her doctor, but her tail had a mind of its own.

Dr. Carlisle heard the soft thumps Ruby's tail made against the bed and chuckled when Ruby tried to stop it.

"You are one curious case, Ms. Rose," Dr. Carlisle said after both their giggles subsided.

"Thanks?" Ruby blushed as she hugged her rambunctious tail to her chest.

"Are there still no plans to add to your harem?"

"Nope. Never!" Ruby shouted angrily. "Weiss is insistent I find someone else because she's worried she isn't enough, but I keep telling her I don't want anyone else! The thought of someone other than Weiss touching me grosses me out—in fact, I know it grosses me out because I can't even bump into someone without nearly throwing up!"

"Any particular reason why?" Dr. Carlisle asked, concerned.

Ruby immediately lowered her hackles and clasped her hands over her stomach. "The energy tastes rancid like spoiled milk… It doesn't matter if they're a nice person. I just can't."

"And you've never felt this way about Ms. Schnee?"

"Never," Ruby answered with a lovelorn sigh. "Her energy has always tasted clean to me. Like a cup of water with fresh ice—none of that old back of the refrigerator stuff. And when we got closer, her happy moods became sweeter than my favourite soda. And her lust… it's like digging into the best damn steak dinner ever, but that sweetness I love is still there like a tall, fruity drink on the side."

"What about her anger? You used to complain about Ms. Schnee's temper all the time."

"It's spicy, but the good kind of spicy that makes you want more," Ruby said, brows furrowed together. "Weiss has mellowed out a lot now that she's more settled and away from her family's reach. She's still a little prickly, but that's just part of her charm."

Dr. Carlisle was writing everything Ruby said, nodding whenever she paused to keep her talking. It was a little embarrassing to have her deepest feeling written down like that, but Ruby understood it was to better understand the Succubus species and help future generations.

"And you're positive Ms. Schnee is the only one that tastes like this?"

"Yup."

"And she hasn't marked you?"

"Other than a few hickies, nope," Ruby laughed.

"Any thoughts about it?"

"Yeah, of course I've thought about it, who wouldn't? I mean, have you seen Weiss? She's, like, the prettiest girl ever!"

"I see…"

But despite the eagerness in her voice, Ruby had a disheartened look on her face. "Weiss takes the mark seriously. She won't mark me just because we're doing it—she wants a life partner. She wants someone who'll be with her no matter what, through thick and thin… so I want to give her the same respect."

"You've thought this through a lot, huh?" Dr. Carlisle said, impressed.

"My feelings for Weiss are the real deal," Ruby said with conviction. "Seriousness aside, I wanna go on at least one date before deciding I want to spend the rest of my life with her—she does scent mark me every morning to help keep me safe though. But really, who'd wanna go toe to toe with me? I carry a giant scythe around!"

"Fascinating. Ruby, have you ever considered the possibility you might have imprinted on Ms. Schnee?" Dr. Carlisle suggested.

Ruby pursed her lips together and thoughtfully nodded. She always knew she was a little strange compared to the other Succubi and Incubi she'd met at the Dream Walker's support group. The last time she went, the young ones were all eager for the change to happen while Ruby watched from the sidelines with her nose buried in a book. She was dreading the day the change took over but couldn't stop herself once Weiss warmed up to her. It was like a magnetic pull or a pie sitting out to cool—you just had to follow it.

"Hm, we might be seeing some solid evidence of your secondary traits coming through. This could also explain why you're so comfortable with Ms. Schnee."

"Because I'm part Tiangou?"

"Yes."

"I guess that does explain a few things," Ruby hummed.

"Either way," Dr. Carlisle said as he pushed his glasses up, "I'd like to book you a session with the school psychologist to really understand what's going on here. I hope you don't mind, Ruby."

Ruby giggled at her doctor's eagerness and said, "I don't. If I can help others better understand what's going on then I'm all for it."

"You truly are one special girl, Ms. Rose." Dr. Carlisle turned away to scribble something down on a different notepad.

"Yeah, I know," Ruby laughed. "A monogamous Succubus, that's something you don't see everyday. Ah, I can already hear the others in the support group calling me a freak."

"You aren't a 'freak,' Ruby, but I will admit that I've never heard of a Succubus being able to satiate their hunger on different energy."

"I'm pretty sure we all can, but the stereotypes make it hard for us to accept anything else," Ruby said. "It's kind of sad if you think about it—only eating one thing and starving when you can't even though there's still so much on the table."

"All the more reason why your journey with Ms. Schnee is so important." Dr. Carlisle ripped out the sheet he'd been writing on and handed it to Ruby.

"What's this?" she asked, squinting at the messy scrawl with more loops and squiggles than a rollercoaster.

Dr. Carlisle pushed his glasses up and plainly said, "Your birth control prescription."

"Oh." Ruby blushed and quickly stuffed the paper into her pocket. "Thanks."

"You can never be too safe," Dr. Carlisle said sternly.

"I know, I know," Ruby awkwardly laughed as she hopped off the medical bed and headed towards the door. "I'll see you next month, Doc."

"Take care, Ruby. I'll be in touch."

Things with Weiss were about as sticky as sticky could get without getting industrial adhesives involved. Ruby tried to mend things whenever the opportunity arose, but Weiss was Weiss and only budged when Ruby needed to feed. And when it was time for bed, Ruby was worried she'd have to sleep in her own bunk, but to her surprise, Weiss pulled the cover aside and tucked her in like she always did ending the night on a sweeter note. The next morning, however, started rough. Ruby woke up feeling like the weight of the world was threatening to crush her. She tried to push it off and go back to sleep, but the mass of warm, soft fur didn't budge. And when she refused to get up, a long, wet tongue dragged itself across her face. Ruby knew then and there that doggy weekend was upon her.

"Good morning, Weiss," Ruby yawned as she wrapped her arms around her consort's neck. Weiss eagerly buried her head in the crook of Ruby's neck and showered her with happy puppy affection, nearly smothering her in the process. "Weiss, stop! I can't breathe!"

But Weiss didn't relent and only increased her fervent cuddling. She even licked Ruby's horns and gnawed on them a little leaving light scratches and teeth marks to stake her claim over her.

"Ew, ew, ew! Doggy slobber!" Ruby whined between her peals of laughter.

"You two are adorable," Blake sleepily murmured with her head barely peeking out from under the blanket. Weiss looked at her for a brief moment and snorted. "I like you a lot more when you're like this. Quiet… and on a tight leash."

Weiss shot Ruby a long, hard look and crinkled her snout, revealing her front teeth.

"She says that you'd better watch yourself if you don't want fur all over your bed," Ruby translated. Blake retreated further into the shadows, muttering quietly to herself. Weiss pawed at Ruby's shirt and grumbled something back. "She says you're as flea-ridden as her, Beta Pather—seriously, guys, why can't you get along?"

"We get along just fine, don't we, disgusting dog?"

There was a split second where Weiss looked truly offended, but a perfectly timed tactical head scratch distracted her enough to save Blake from an unfortunate fate. Ruby lavished her adorable, fluffy consort with all the love she could give, and in return, Weiss' unfiltered affection filled Ruby's belly to the brim like a towering stack of pancakes à la mode with all her favourite fruits and whipped cream.

"I love you," Ruby mouthed, her face buried deep in a sea of white fur. Weiss scampered off her soon after, nails scraping against the wood floor, and came back with a blue collar that had a laminated copy of her student ID attached. "You want to go out for breakfast?" Weiss wagged her long, bushy tail and nodded. "Your favourite café by the airship docks or the one by the pier?"

Weiss barked once and dropped the collar into Ruby's lap. She barked a few more times to tell Ruby the meal was on her today and suggested they also go see the movie Ruby had been dying to see.

"Sounds like a date," Ruby giggled as she fastened Weiss' collar around her neck and double-checked the clasp keeping Weiss' ID to make sure it was secure.

Weiss put a paw on Ruby's thigh, her big blue eyes telling Ruby that it could be if she wanted it to be. Ruby had to hold herself back from jumping at the chance. As wonderful as doggy weekends were, they had a steep downside to them that made it difficult for Ruby to take anything Weiss said or did to heart. As a wolf, the strict girl Ruby fell in love with took a backseat and let her Alpha side take over. She was relatively the same except she was a bit more brash and impulsive, like a queen with complete dominion over her kingdom. She had no issue throwing her weight around as a purebred Alpha, but since she didn't have any Betas or Omegas under her command, Weiss was essentially a spoiled lapdog who monopolized Ruby's time. She also tended to let her deepest desires slip out when she was alone with Ruby.

On their way to the café, a couple of kids, a boy and a girl no older than six and four, ran up to Weiss and asked if they could pet her. Ruby tried to say no because human Weiss hated it when people treated her like a domesticated dog, but Alpha Weiss let them do as they pleased while the parents watched in horror.

"Are you sure it's safe? Where's his leash? Shouldn't your dog be on a leash?" the children's mother frantically asked Ruby when she saw Weiss' big, sharp teeth. "I hope he doesn't bite…"

"Yes, I'm sure. And no, she doesn't need a leash, ma'am. That's my partner, not my pet," Ruby smiled as she pulled her copy of Weiss' student ID out from her wallet and showed it to the lady. "See?"

The woman and her husband blinked in surprise as they carefully read Weiss' ID line by line. The father's eyes darted between the pure white wolf and the girl pretty enough to be a princess in the picture with a look of pure disbelief, unable to connect the two beings together.

Thankfully, the mother didn't take much to convince and clapped her hands together. "Oh wow, she's pretty!"

"The prettiest," Ruby boasted.

"Well, once she's back to her normal self, please tell her thank you for making my children's day."

Weiss heard the comment and barked twice, spooking the poor woman who could only smile and wave.

After wishing the family well and seeing them off, Ruby knelt beside Weiss and scratched her ear.

"You really love kids, huh?" Ruby murmured, kissing Weiss' cheek. The taste of joy and excitement tickled Ruby's tongue telling her more than words could ever hope to express.

Weiss licked Ruby's nose and yipped at her, tail wagging faster than a whip. Her bright, shining eyes told Ruby she wished the children could've played for longer and that she couldn't wait to have pups of her own. The Omega from yesterday with her fluffy hair and large chest popped up in Ruby's mind like a buzzing fly that wouldn't leave. She tried to ignore the sour taste in her mouth, but couldn't hide it on her face.

Weiss tilted her head.

"Why the face? I'm fine, Weiss."

It was a poorly put together lie that didn't fool anyone, not even Ruby. Weiss glowered and grumbled, telling Ruby to fess up before she changed her mind about the movie.

Ignoring the fake threat, Ruby insisted she was fine, but one look into Weiss' caring eyes made Ruby regret her stubbornness.

"Alright, you caught me," she said with a forced smile, unable to keep the charade going. "I guess there is something I want to talk to you about."

Weiss licked Ruby's cheek and whined, her tail laying flat over Ruby's.

"Nothing's wrong, you worrywart," Ruby laughed. "But it is sort of serious so I hope you'll listen."

At the café, sitting across from each other at a table for two, Ruby watched Weiss browse the menu with a lopsided smile on her face. They must've been an odd sight like a corny joke told over drinks with friends. Ruby didn't pay the lingering stares any mind and Weiss was too busy with her own struggles to notice. She was trying to decide between the turkey bacon sandwich and the club sandwich. The easy answer would be to order both and split the halves, but Weiss felt that would be unfair to Ruby who wanted the seafood penne.

By the ten minute mark, Weiss looked up from the menu, snout crinkled as she tapped on the club with finality. She barked once, using her indoor voice, and yipped.

"You want the club for sure?" Ruby asked with a sleepy half-lidded gaze, cheek resting in the palm of her hand. Weiss nodded. "Are you sure?"

Hesitation struck Weiss like an arrow and her paw wavered between her two choices again.

"Weiss," Ruby groaned as she slumped across the table and grabbed both of Weiss' paws, "why can't we just order all three and share?"

A sharp glare was sent Ruby's way followed by the sound of Weiss slowly slapping her tail against the ground in admonishment.

"I know it's not right to order more than we can eat, but we both know we'll get hungry at the park." Weiss tried to argue, but Ruby grabbed her by the cheeks and dragged her forward, kissing her. "No, not listening," she said, punctuating each word with a forceful kiss. "We're ordering both sandwiches and my penne. We're also ordering the white chocolate cake and the iced coffee you love."

Weiss balked at the sudden kisses and whipped her head around the room to see if anyone saw.

"No one's watching. And even if they are, so what? We're not doing anything wrong," Ruby said as she struggled to keep Weiss focused on her.

Weiss looked down at the menu, ears pressed flat against her head.

"I'm not embarrassed to be seen with you."

A quiet whimper escaped Weiss' lips followed by a long and heavy sigh.

"I don't care what anyone thinks and you shouldn't either," Ruby lovingly murmured as she smooshed Weiss' face and played with her jiggly jowls. "I love both sides of you, though I do wish you were a little more forceful with me when we're in bed; I kinda dig the whole Alpha thing that happened last time."

Weiss shyly pulled away and hid her face underneath her paws, tail wagging happily.

With one hurdle done and dusted, they ordered their food and had it in front of them within twenty minutes. But before Ruby could even take a bite of her delicious looking penne, she realized she was far too full to eat. Weiss had already devoured the first half of her turkey sandwich and was eyeing the second half when she noticed Ruby's grim expression.

"Sorry, um." Ruby tried to eat the scallop she had on her fork but couldn't bring herself to do it. After a moment of quiet introspection, she said, "Weiss, I'm different from the other Succubi and Incubi."

Weiss snorted incredulously and took a sip of her coffee.

"Yeah, yeah, tell you something you don't already know," Ruby grumbled. She put her fork down and tiredly rubbed her face with both hands. "Ugh, so much for eating something solid…"

Weiss gave her a warmer look and asked her if this had anything to do with her appointment yesterday afternoon.

"It sort of has to do with everything that happened yesterday," Ruby answered glumly.

Weiss whimpered again and laid a paw out for Ruby to hold.

"Dr. Carlisle thinks the reason why I'm so attached to you is because I might have imprinted on you." Ruby took Weiss' paw and idly played with the fur between her adorable little toes. "I know how much you hate how our biology dictates our lives, but would it really be so bad if we let this one thing lead the way? I love you, Weiss. No one's ever made me feel the way you do."

Weiss sighed and reiterated her argument from yesterday nearly word for word.

"Stop it, Weiss. Stop reminding me about the risks because I know them better than anyone else. And ya, I'm scared, but that doesn't change the way I feel about you," Ruby said, her eyes welling up. "Why can't we just give things a try? I'm not asking you to marry me or mark me for life. I'm just asking you to be my girlfriend."

Weiss got up from the table and sat next to Ruby, nudging her gently for a hug.

"I know you love me too, Weiss," Ruby murmured as she wrapped her arms around Weiss' neck. "Please don't look at anyone else. I want you all to myself… "

Weiss gently pulled herself out from under Ruby's arms and tugged on her sleeve until she got out of her chair.

"The bathroom? You gotta go now? Like, right now?" Ruby sighed as she rubbed her eyes dry with the heel of her palm. "Fine. Let's go."

Ruby held the bathroom door open and stepped aside, but Weiss stubbornly huffed and dragged her in.

"Weiss, I know I just said I loved you—and I really, really do—but I don't want to watch you use the bathroom. I—whoa!"

"Shut up and lock the door," a fully human Weiss commanded as she grabbed Ruby by the shirt and slammed the door shut behind her.

Ruby did as she was told and tried her best to avert her eyes, but Weiss was so pretty without her clothes on it was hard not to look.

"Ruby, focus!" Weiss snapped when she noticed Ruby's hungry gaze dipping. "This is serious."

"Sorry!" Ruby yelped. "I couldn't help it, you know how I get around the fifth member of Team RWBY."

"I—ugh! Look, I'm sorry for making you cry," Weiss struggled to say with her cheeks and the tips of her ears tinged pink. "Hurting you was never my intention."

"I know," Ruby murmured back, shuffling between her feet. "You're too kind to do that on purpose."

"My head's still a little fuzzy from the change, so forgive me if my words are clumsy, but let me make something clear to you." Weiss gently ran her fingers over Ruby's left horn before cupping her cheek and kissing her. "I feel the same way you do," she whispered, her eyelashes brushing against Ruby's flushed skin. "And perhaps I've imprinted on you as well because I can't see myself with anyone else but you…"

"Then why do you keep pushing me away?"

"You know why," Weiss sighed.

"You're thinking way too far ahead, you silly overgrown puppy," Ruby tiredly chuckled as she rested her forehead against Weiss'. "We can't control what happens in the future, but we can control what happens now. Be with me, Weiss. Just say yes and we can put this all behind us."

"What if I can't keep you satisfied?"

"As long as you keep loving me the way you do, I'll be fine."

"But—"

Ruby rolled her eyes and cut Weiss off with a kiss. Weiss tried to pull back and continue the argument, but Ruby kept kissing her and kissing her until she gave in and kissed her back.

"Let's say we do try dating," Weiss shyly murmured, "what'll change?"

"Hopefully nothing and everything all at the same time," Ruby laughed with her arms draped around Weiss' shoulders.

"And you're fine with our first date being, uh, doggy weekend? Ugh, Ruby, I care about you deeply, but why did you have to name it that?! Couldn't you have come up with something more refined?" Weiss complained with a fresh blush on her face.

"Maybe when you stop being so cute," Ruby teased. "So… girlfriends?" Weiss pursed her lips together, back ramrod straight. "Weiss?"

"You're not going to let this go, huh?"

"Nope," Ruby smiled. "I'm dead set on you, Weiss."

Staring off to the side, Weiss contemplated the cards before her. This was a pivotal moment in both their lives, so Ruby held her breath and crossed her fingers.

"I-I suppose I'll be in your care then," Weiss said, pretending like she wasn't as giddy as Ruby.

"Is that a yes?"

Weiss shyly nodded. "Yes, Ruby, the answer is yes… but the moment it becomes unsustainable we—"

"Nope!" Ruby exclaimed as she grabbed Weiss' face and smooshed her cheeks together. "No 'buts'! We're going to give this a proper chance. That means no scary 'what if' scenarios, got it?"

"Okay, okay, now let me go!" Weiss growled. She pried Ruby's hands off her and held them close to her chest, nudity all but forgotten. "Honestly, I give you an inch and you take a mile…"

A sly smile slowly crept up on Ruby's face, her eyes gleaming mischievously. "I've taken more than just an inch," she purred, the tip of her tail brushing against Weiss' thigh, rising higher and higher. But Weiss caught it before it could travel to somewhere risqué. "Ah! My tail! My tail!"

"You are incorrigible!" Weiss grumbled, letting it go. "Keep that thing away from me or else."

"But you love me," Ruby snickered with her mischievous tail held to her chest, safe from Weiss' swift hands. She leaned against the door and dreamily sighed. "I can't wait for our next date-date! I'm going to hold your hand and hug your arm—oh my god, I get to hold your hand!"

"Ruby, we have sex on a near-daily basis. Holding my hand at this point is a little trivial, don't you think?"

"That doesn't count!" Ruby exclaimed. "I would literally die without it—oh my god, we can do it for fun now!"

"What did I get myself into?"

"Something mutually beneficial!" Ruby beamed, poorly mimicking the diplomatic tone Weiss loved to use when she was being cheeky.

Rolling her eyes, Weiss gave in and sighed. "Ugh, forget it," she grumbled. "We'll postpone the park and… doggy weekend for now. Just hurry up and get your backpack so I can change into my clothes."

"Your clothes?" Ruby blinked, her jubilant cheering cut in its prime.

"My clothes."

Ruby felt a bead of sweat drip down her neck. "Um…"

"Ruby, please tell me you remembered to pack the clothes I asked you to."

Another bead.

"Ruby!"

"I'm sorry!" Ruby yelped as she watched her girlfriend change into a snarling wolf with her big, sharp teeth bared and poised to strike. "I love you?" Ruby sheepishly added when Weiss glowered at her. "I really, really love you?"

Weiss snorted in disbelief as she sat on her hind legs and pulled the handle down causing the heavy steel door to swing wide open. Ruby fell back, her arms spinning wildly to counteract her momentum or grab something to stop her fall, but it was no use. She landed on her bottom unceremoniously and squished her poor, fragile tail, eliciting a pained squeak that grated on the ears.

Feeling that she'd caused enough mayhem for one day, Weiss strode over to Ruby and licked her cheek before heading back to their table, tail wagging happily.

But before Weiss could get too far, Ruby stifled an obnoxious giggle and said, "I can see your butthole."

Weiss' tail dropped as she swivelled around and snarled. She didn't need to speak to tell Ruby that she had better be prepared the next time they sparred because, girlfriend or not, Ruby was done for.

Thank you to Anonymous for commissioning this piece. I've had this idea lying around for so long, but I never really had the courage to write it out.

Truth be told, this story was done ages ago (months to be exact) and I had permission to upload it, but one thing after another kept popping up and now I'm elbow deep in my new project. I figured now was as good a time as any. Thank you for reading. o/
