Smith and Aleph are now freed from their imprisonment inside the Zion mainframe and on a direct path to 01, the city of the machines. Meanwhile in the Matrix, Persephone finally faces the fact that her husband's obsessive pursuit of "magic" has turned him into an utter stranger. Sequel to Awakenings, my previous story.

This story takes place in the events between the first and second films in "The Matrix" trilogy after the epiphany of Neo as the One.

Enigma learns the truth about this world from painful experience. Luckily, she found some semblance from Nebuchadnezzar's crew and citizens of Zion, making her life much easier. Neo couldn't open his eyes yet. He didn't want to look at the clock to realize only a few minutes had passed since he had fallen asleep. Trinity tried to get up, but Neo wouldn't let her. She was the only thing keeping him relaxed and he just needed a little more of her.

Updated and reworked for hopefully a better read. Resurrections brought me back to this story and I decided to give it a facelift. Follows a new captain and his crew during the six months between The Matrix and Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions.. Dedicated to Colin Wilmot who was killed in Afghanistan. Finally it's finished.

After meeting with the Oracle post-Resurrections, Trinity and Neo fight in the Construct and make up. But it's only the start of their new chapter with the Oracle as they discover their destinies are tied up with hers.

The broadcast signal is breaking down, Switch is stuck in confusing code limbo, Apoc gets antsy. Technobabble and swearing ensue. (Once again not clear whether this falls on the shipping or friendship side of things. Can be read as both.)

Behind the calm facade, there might be a moment of getting lost in old daydreams. Apoc having a moment of gloomy thoughts. (Switch and Apoc again, not quite a story, more of yet another introspective exploration within my little head canon world.)

"I thought the story was over, even as I carried in my bones an ache that could not be shaken." Trinity and Neo discover more about their strange legacy in Io, and Bugs asks them to meet the one who's been keeping it alive.

A small missing scene between Trinity waking up on The Mnemosyne and re-entering the Matrix to kick the Analyst's ass. Even Trinity needs a moment to process and adjust, but some things never change.

An examination of Smith's re-awakening, wherein he must reconcile his "past life" and his new "human life." His struggles will lead him to reach out to some old faces...

"We're one link in a chain of impossible things," Trinity says softly. Post-Resurrections, Trinity and Neo make their first change to the world.

After a dunken night of fun that neither of them can remember, Neo and Trinity spend the following day hungover, searching for Neo's missing boot. As they piece the the events of last night back together, they pray that no one saw what they had done in their inebriated state.

Trinity was never reckless, except for the times it could cost her everything. Tiffany never thought her life could be different, until she started dreaming about Trinity. "Storytime onboard the Nebuchadnezzar, kids, gather around," Tank crows, beating the metal jug of Dozer's moonshine with a bent spork.

Her eyes met his. She could barely form a coherent thought and Neo had to strain to hear her over her panting. "Neo, please, just…" she trailed off, trying to catch her breath as Neo's fingertips circled her again. "Please what?" Trinity could barely get the words out, her want for him overpowering every attempt at speech. Neo planted gentle kisses along her jaw, covering her in lo

Neo had tricked her in the beginning. After long days in the Construct, Neo would collapse in his small room and, despite her better judgement, she would pay him a visit bearing dinner. His room had been spotless then. Now, Trinity wished could go back in time and slap some sense into herself. Of course his room had been clean. Neo didn't own anything but the shirt on his back.

One of his early days out of the Matrix, Neo ends up in in a conversation that goes a little different than expected (because some people on the ship need a special interest besides searching for the One.) Weird fluff for fun.

"To miracles happening, in spite of my best efforts not to let them. But I'll tell you what I've always believed. Nothing can keep a good woman down." Trinity's first hours with Neo after being resurrected. And having it out with Niobe for putting Neo in Neo jail.

"I think they know better than to expect us back on time anymore," Trinity says, between breathless kisses. Neo and Trinity defy their doctors' orders to take things easy in Io. (Also, young!Trinity processing her visit to the Oracle with Morpheus.)
