The problem with walking out of the Underworld was that, despite Orpheus's best efforts, it stayed with him. Hades considers this a fair trade.

Persephone's speakeasy housed premium vintages of the world up top, of summer sunshine and autumn winds, of the moon and stars above and the fertile soil below. But the ones sealed in the back, never opened, contained her memories of better times.

Orpheus wasn't the first to enter Hadestown while living, but he was the first to walk out again.

The Lord of the Underworld keeps a lyre in his vault, and the Lady a red carnation in her hair. Or, the 'Hades is Orpheus but older' meme taken literally.

Hope is the thing with feathers, so they say, and insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. To Hermes, they are one and the same.

She wishes she could remember. He aches to forget. Eurydice and Orpheus are shells of their former selves. What will it take to learn their song again? An old friend? A train? Springtime? Perhaps there is no choice but to write a new song – together.

The fields are green and the fruit is fat and ripe on the vine. They hardly need Persephone here to coax them along anymore. (Hades/Persephone. Pre-canon. Written for Yuletide 2019.)

Orpheus sings the melody, but Hades doesn't take the melody well.

She didn't want to feel anymore. Eurydice had been hungry too long for Orpheus to return. To feel his love again. Like they always had. But now. . . He was gone. Really gone. One shot. Angst.

"There was a railroad line on the road to hell, there was a young man down on bended knee, and that is the ending of the tale Orpheus and Eurydice." No, that's not the ending. It continues. It's still an end, it's still a sad story, and it's still a tragedy, but you're still gonna read it.

On the day she left, the Underworld was darker, and when she pulled away from Hades' kiss his eyes were blank. When she returned to the earth above, the sun sparkled. The crops grew again, the oceans calmed, and the people rejoiced. Spring had come again. [based on hadestown]

Orpheus and Eurydice find a way, because that's what Orpheus and Eurydice do.
