"So, you fell from the sky into a world and body that shouldn't be yours after your previous body supposedly died from an incurable illness?" a unicorn asked a small female startouch elven child softly "i have trouble understanding how this is a bad thing"
"Because i don't know anything?! I'm in a body that looks like it's 6 or 7 years old and i have nothing except the clothes you just made for me!" Said the star elf "thanks for those by the way. Didn't know unicorns could make clothes...and have such good taste"
"Thanks, but i only edited some fabric i found"
"Where did you-" the elven girl was about to ask curiously before the unicorn cut her off
"A dead corpse"
"...uhh, what?" Asked the girl nervously
"They were killed by a soulfang serpent" said the unicorn, calming the girl down
"Gross...but i can live with it" said the girl as she inspected her startouch elf themed clothes before noticing the the unicorn was walking away "wait, where are you going?"
"I don't stay in one place for too long" replied the unicorn calmly
"Can i go with you?"
"No, my species are highly sought out by humans for dark magic ingredients. You'll be in danger if you stick with me" replied the unicorn calmly
"You're talking as if I'm not a homeless child who literally doesn't know how to walk properly, has no survival skills and just fell into this world less than a day ago. I am in danger just by existing!"
"...you make a good point" said the unicorn in realization as he approached the girl "but don't blame me if it gets dangerous"
"Don't worry, I'll blame whoever threw me in this world"
The unicorn ignored that and lowered his body, signalling for the girl to climb on. The girl did so and the unicorn began moving forwards
"Wait, before we go, what's your name?"
"I don't have one" replied the unicorn bluntly, causing the girl to put a hand on her chin and ponder
"How about we give each other names? I don't think i can keep my old name with all of...this" said the girl gesturing at all of herself
"Do as you wish" replied the unicorn calmly
"How about 'Amequs'?"
"That just means 'friend' in ancient draconic" replied Amequs in disappointment, expecting something more spectacular
"Well, you're my friend, I'm bad with names and i know latin. Besides, I'm gonna have the last part spelled like the word for horse, it fits...i think. Anyway, It's your turn now."
"Hmm...Natanova"
"Oh, that's a cool na-...is that a reference to me dying and coming back or are you calling me a child for the name i gave you?" Asked Natanova as she narrowed her eyes while staring at Amequs
"Well, you're a child so i thought it'd fit" said Amequs passive aggressively
"Geez, i thought unicorns were all wisdom and rainbows, not sass" said Natanova with a deep frown as she crossed her arms
"Being hunted for life does that to you" deadpanned Amequs, causing the startouch elf to feel a little bad
"Well...can you at least call me 'Nova'?"
"As you wish. Now let's get going...I'll tell you about this world on the way"
This was the start of a lifelong friendship

Nova gazed at the starry sky absently, she instinctively felt the connection between her and stars. Amequs explained the primal sources of magic (plus dark magic) to her, which she already knew regardless, but It was still weird to think about where she was now. She was supposed to be stuck to a hospital bed while occasionally going outside in a wheelchair, not...whatever this was.
Nova then looked at her hand; it looked similar to the starry sky above her, she was an elf now. That thought made her think if it was possible for her to do magic. She didn't know the rune or the spells even, but it didn't hurt to try something small.
Nova took a deep breath and tried her best to use her connection to the stars and spoke "fastis sidere". The star symbol on her chest started glowing as her eyes did the same before a circle of constellations appeared above her hand. "It worked!"
Amequs curiously turned his head to Nova upon hearing that. Nova excitedly extended her hand in front of one of the unicorn's eyes ro show him the circle "what does it do?"
"It's a calendar" said Nova enthusiastically "to keep track of time"
"I can already do that by looking at the sky or with some paper" deadpanned Amequs, causing Nova to frown "you have a surprising talent in magic and you use it to make this?"
"It's my first spell, you jerk! Be proud or something!" Said Nova angrily as some stars that were on her cheeks started glowing as if she was flushing. She quickly calmed down and easily crushed the star calendar in her fist, turning the spell off "but wait, you said i have talent?"
"Yes, it was your first spell and you didn't use a rune and somehow, you knew that ancient draconic was used for magic"
Nova started laughing nervously all of a sudden "oh, it's just uhh... latin was usually used for magic in stories where i come from"
"Interesting" said Amequs calmly, causing Nova to sigh in relief
The silence that followed was deafening. Not even a single creature around them let out a sound. The only thing that was heard was Amequs's footsteps.
Nova decided to cut silence and ask "what are the chances that if i study all types of magic, i delve into dark magic out of curiosity and slowly become corrupted"
Amequs took a really really deep breath before answering "how am i supposed to know that?"
"I just thought, y'know, unicorns were rare mystical creatures that could look into your heart or something" said Nova as she played with her white hair
"Just snap off my horn already"
