A/N: Two updates in one day? When I feel kind of burnt out with my other two unfinished work, mostly because I don't know where to take them. So, I thought I could give this new work a shot.

Plus my statistics tell me that my last two chapters haven't been doing as well as my other chapters so I thought maybe you guys can feel it too, that I;m really unmotivated and I need something else to work on.

Anyway, I really hope you like this one.

Chapter 1

I slammed my locked shut as I headed towards my biology class, also known as my last and most hectic class of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it was brutal sometimes. Plus, it was also the last class that stood between my swim practices.

Hi, I'm Arizona Robbins, the state freestyle swimming champ of Seattle. My family comes from a Marine background so it isn't a huge shocker that I was an excellent swimmer it was in the genes. My elder brother Tim was also on the swim team, which meant I had to work harder to earn the respect of the people on my team.

Because I was the state champion, I was the leader of the women's swim team as well and that too when I was only in the ninth grade. Even my brother wasn't the captain of his team which gave me immense pride.

Earlier this year, about three months ago, my team and I competed at the national level where all the swimmers across America, the best of the best, competed. This was Tim's second year competing but it was my first. I remember, I was so nervous and my couch had me put in only one style of swimming, which made training easier but then I only had one shot to win.

I came in third. I have never hated myself more in that moment. The women there were not only taller but faster and just… Tim of course won his second gold medal and I was happy for him. But I was more concerned that I didn't.

The winner, man I hate her! I hate her from the bottom of my heart! She was so smug before the practice trying to give me pointers about how I can swim better because she saw me warm up and I wasn't having any of it. Of course at that time I didn't know I was competing against her and that she would win.

It didn't help that she was a gorgeous Latina with curves in all the right places. She had long jet black hair and tan skin. I mean my skin was a bit tan too because of being in the water for so long, but her skin seemed to be that way naturally. Unfortunately, I couldn't get her name apart from looking at the scoreboard and seeing 'Torres, C' and a time that was ten seconds faster than mine.

Ten seconds!

Anyway, like I said before, it's been three months and I should probably stop thinking about it too much.

I made my way to class and took my seat next to my best friend Teddy. She and I go way back. We met in San Diego where both of our families had moved. Yes, she is also a Marine and then as luck would have it, both of our families moved to Seattle like four years ago and we have been best friends ever since.

"Dude, did you finish the homework?" I asked as I put my stuff on the table.

"I got through about half of it but then Owen came over and you know-"

I immediately closed my ears. "I don't want to hear it."

"Oh come on! It's just sex!"

"It's straight sex! There's a difference, trust me!"

Teddy rolled her eyes. "Please, you and Lia are basically virgin marys."

No point in lying about what's true. Yes, I haven't gone all the way with any of my girlfriends. I just, I don't know. I'm not ready or at the moment it never felt right. I don't know what stopped me, but I just couldn't.

"So what! Lia and I, we are good where we are."

"I'm sure you are." Teddy teased, I was about to answer but the teacher came in and began the class.

Lia and I have been dating since I got back from the swim meet, roughly about two months now. She is an exchange student from Italy and has that sexy Italian accent which was good in my books, but unfortunately we have just Algebra and Calculus in common so we usually hangout after school.

Lia sometimes comes to my practices, but she never really stays for the entire duration. She says that it's not fun watching me going back and forth from one end to the other, but oh well, I can't force her to come, can I now.

After class Teddy and I quickly dump our books in our locker before carrying our gym bags out to the pool.

"So, what is it?" Teddy asked.

"I told you Teddy, I don't know what surprise the coach has for us."

"But, you're the captain! He has to tell you, right?"

I shrugged. "Believe it or not, he doesn't. Besides, my captaincy ends in another month and based on my performance, I don't think I would get to be captain again."

Teddy grabbed my shoulders as we stopped walking. "You came in fourth in the toughest category against girls who were twice your size! That is something! Of course you are going to be captain, who else could it be?"

"I don't know, someone older, someone who can get the medal. God! The coach has been hounding me about doing better and 'being more like my brother! I hate it!"

"Relax, you are going to crush it next year and lead the team to victory!"

Teddy and I headed to the changing rooms and put our swimsuits, caps and goggles on and took a quick shower before making our way to the pool.

The school had a great swim team and it was pretty tough to get in. Since my brother didn't have any classes after lunch he was probably already in the pool, messing around with his team.

What bothers me more, is that he not only won gold for Men's freestyle swimming, but he also won another medal for mixed medley swimming. For those who don't know what that means, it is two men, two women swimming in four different styles for 25 meters each. His team won a bronze medal each. He won two medals and I had nothing.

Just as we are about to get in, the coach stops all of us. He orders everyone to get out of the pool and line up in front of him by the pool. This was strange, we never did this.

"Today, is a great day. We have a transfer student from Miami high joining our swim team-"

"Coach, she has to audition, those aren't till for another four months!" I said.

"Yes, Robbins is right. But she comes with a great experience that we had to make an exception," he explained.

Oh goodie, she's a female. This sucks, I am already losing my captaincy and now I have a newbie on my team who claims to be the shit? Why was I having such a tough day?

"You all might remember her from our swim meet where she won three gold medals."

Oh no! The only person I knew who won three medals was the person who beat me. She won the other two medals for the category for which Tim came in third and then women's relay. Please, don't let it be her.

I see someone walking up from the coach's office as she came and stood beside him.

"This is Callie Torres and she's now part of Seattle Grace High's swim team"

Oh fuck!

A/N: So… Should I continue this? This is my first attempt at a high school AU and I liked this angle. I have few of the things planned out which you may or may not like and some that you definitely won't. But yes, this is what I had in mind when I teased that I wanted to write something like this.

Anyway, did you like it? Your reviews do help!

Do you think Callie should be cocky about being a national champ? Or be a bit more humble and reserved?
