Guess whats back? Back again? The first chapter of the SotD Rewrite is here! After reading your reviews, i have finally decided on what to do! The result will be seen in this chapter and throughout the story.
It was the middle of the night, the darkness of the night being illuminated by the street lamps, the star and the moon.
Suddendly, a door was slammed open, music and loud chatter coming from the inside.
"You're outta here!" The owner of a bar shouted, throwing a drunken man through the door and into the pavement. "And don't come back!"
The owner shut the door as the man sighed. "Whatever. Its not my fault his daughter is a whore…" He said, getting up, grabbing the bottle he was thrown out with, deciding to finish it on the way.
The man stumbled across the road, sometimes taking a sip from his beverage.
As he passed by an alleyway, a distorted voice called out.
"Strong Ishijima, I presume."
The man, hearing his name, looked at the alleyway. From the shadows walked out a person, wearing a black and red jester costume that looked like very used. Their face was hidden by a jester's hat, along with a simple white mask, with holes for their eyes and a smile drawn with a marker.
"Great, another clown…" Ishijima muttered.
"Oh no, I am not a clown." The masked person twisted their hand, a card appearing betwen their two fingers. "Here is my card." He threw the card.
Strong Ishijima caught the card and stared it. The card wasn't a business card, but more a card from a deck of cards used for poker. Except this one wasn't used, because the card was the joker.
"Let me guess. Your name is Joker?" Ishijima asked sarcastically with a deadpan expression.
"It is a pleasure to meet you." The clown named Joker took a bow. "I was wondering if you would indulge me in a duel."
"Pass. I have had enough clowns for a lifetime." The former champion said, taking a swig of his bottle and beginning to walk away.
"Ah, do you mean Sakaki Yuya?"
Strong Ishijima stopped, looking back at Joker with fury in his eyes.
"It would be a lie if I said it was a close duel, considering you were completely destroyed by him and his Pendulum Summon. Or are you perhaps that weak?" Joker mocked.
"…I changed my mind." Strong Ishijima said, throwing away his bottle and putting on his Duel Disk, activating it. "I'll gladly take you on, you clown! And after that, im taking that mask off!"
"Wonderful!" Joker said, throwing his arm out, revealing a dark yellow Duel Disk. He activated it, revealing a purple blade.
"DUEL!"
Joker: 4000 LP
Strong: 4000 LP
"I shall take the first move, if you don't mind." Joker said. "I set a monster face-down and set one card face-down. That will be all for my opening act."
"All that trash talk and thats the best you can do?" Ishijima scoffed. "This will be over in a second. My turn! I activate Wild Feast LV5! This allows me to Special Summon two Level 5 monsters with their effects negated! Come! Lava Battleguard and Swamp Battleguard!"

"But they won't be here for long as I tribute them both to Advance Summon Battleguard King!"
(LV 8 Warrior/Effect/Earth ATK: 3000 DEF: 1100)
"Oh, you summoned your ace monster on your first turn." Joker said, clapping sarcastically. "Im impressed."
"What about this, then? Battle! Battleguard King attacks your face-down monster!" Ishijima said as Battleguard King swung its mace at the face-down monster.
"Enterror Crunch Hippo effect. When its destroyed, I can add one Level 5 or higher Enterror monster. I add Broken Telescope." Joker said, unfazed.
"I set two cards face-down and end my turn." Ishijima said.
"My turn. Draw. I summon Enterror Whip Cobra." Joker said as a black snake with blood dripping from its mouth appeared.
(LV4 SC: 4 Earth/Reptile/Pendulum/Effect ATK:1700 DEF:900)
Ishijima looked at the brand new monster. For some reason it reminded him of the one Sakaki Yuya used.
"Now, let us activate Whip Cobra effect to change your monster attack and defense." Joker said as Cobra used his tail to hypnotize Battleguard King, putting him on one knee.
(Battleguard King 3000 = 1100 ATK)
"I also deal you damage equal to the difference. Unfortunately if the difference is over 1000, the damage is halved." Joker said as Whip Cobra slashed his tail at Ishijima.
Ishijima: 4000 – 1900/2 = 3050
"Battle! Whip Cobra attacks Battleguard King!" Joker said as the monster bared its fangs and jumped towards the giant, biting it.
"I activate my Trap, Battleguard Tenacity! My monster isn't destroyed by battle!" Ishijima said as Battleguard King just shrugged off the snake.
"But you'll take the damage." Joker remarked as Whip Cobra slashed its tail at Ishijima.
Ishijima: 3050 – 600 = 2450 LP
Ishijima massaged his chest where he was hit. For a second he was sure he felt pain. Maybe he has been drinking too much.
"How unfortunate. But it would be dull if the antagonist didn't put up a fight. I end my turn with your monster attack returning to normal." Joker said.
"For some reason, your Dueling reminds me of Sakaki Yuya and Sakaki Yusho." Ishijima said. "Don't tell me you're a fan?"
"A fan? Oh far from it. However, I am VERY familliar with their work." Joker answered vaguely.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"All will be revealed eventually." Once again, Joker answered vaguely.
"Very well. Then im going to beat it out of you." Ishijima said. "My turn draw! Battle! Battleguard King attacks your Whip Cobra!"
"I activate my Trap, Enterror Escape Act." Joker said. "When a Enterror is targeted for an attack, I can return that monster to my hand, nullify the attack and destroy the attacking monster."
A cannon appeared, where Whip Cobra entered, before shooting it at the other monster.
Ishijima gritted his teeth. "I banish Battleguard Tenacity in order to prevent the destruction of a Battleguard monster!"
Battleguard King put his arms up, defending him from the assault.
"Your Battleguard monster can only attack twice on monsters. Since my field doesn't have any, you can't attack." Joker said.
"I know my own cards effects." Ishijima said through gritted teeth. "I set one card face-down and end my turn! Next turn, you're finished!"
"Next turn?" Joker repeated, before laughing loudly. "There is no next turn. The only thing waiting for you is despair. My turn! Draw!" Joker looked at the cards in his hand. "How ironic that you would lose the same way."
"Same way?" Ishijima repeated, before widening his eyes. "You don't mean…"
Joker grabbed two cards. "I, using the Scale 1 Enterror Broken Telescope and Scale 8 Rusty Clock, set the Pendulum Scale!"
Two monsters.
"No way, not again!"
"With this, I can now summon monsters from Level 2 to 7 at the same time! Powers of darkness! Open a rift in the dimensions and let chaos enter the battle field! PENDULUM SHOKAN! Appear, my monsters!"
"Enterror Whip Cobra, Enterror Knifish. And from the Extra Deck, Enterror Crunch Hippo!"
The portal opened up, with three monsters appearing, two of them being new. One was a fish the size of a pocket knife, and the other was a big black hippo with his jaw open, with blood dripping from its mouth.

"You can also Pendulum Summon like Sakaki Yuya!?" Ishijima asked, before he realized something as he looked at Crunch Hippo. "Wait, how did that monster come back!?"
"Pendulum Monsters are sent to the Extra Deck when they are destroyed, and I can also Pendulum Summon them." Joker explained.
"How did you and Sakaki Yuya get these powerful cards!?"
"A magician never reveals his secrets." Joker answered, doing a mock bow.
"Fine. One of the many things im gonna ask you when I beat you." Ishijima said. "Trap activate! Battleguard Bind!"
Chains sprouted from the card, binding all of Joker's monsters.
"Oh?" Joker said, interested.
"I was saving this for when I fought Sakaki Yuya again, but you're a perfect practice. When my opponent Special Summons one more monsters, this card prevents them from attacking or changing their positions. Whats more is that they can't be used as tributes for an Advanced Summon."
"Hmmm, we'll see." Joker said ominously. "For now im going to activate Enterror Whip Cobra effect, changing your monster attack and defense and dealing you damage equal to the difference."
(Battleguard King 3000 = 1100 ATK)
Ishijima: 2450 – 1900/2 = 1500 LP
"THen I activate Enterror Knifish effect. I can decrease your monster ATK by 600 and deal you 600 points of damage."
(Battleguard King 1100 – 600 = 500 ATK)
Ishijima: 1500 – 600 = 900 LP
"Again?" Ishijima said, touching his wound and seeing blood. "This can't be real…"
"Oh but it is." Joker said, catching the former champion attention. "What you're feeling is just the beginning."
"Bluff all you want, but the fact is you can't attack with your current monsters!" Ishijima said.
"Who said I was going to?" Joker asked. "The fun has just begun! I activate Broken Telescope Pendulum Effect. I target my Enterror monsters and I can add one Enterror Ritual Monster with Level equal or less than the targeted monsters combined."
"Ritual Monster?" Ishijima repeated.
"Yes, I am an old fan of the classics. I will activate the Ritual Spell, Chain Manifestation, which allows me to Ritual Summon a Enterror monster from my hand, as long as I Tribute monsters that reach its level. I tribute Whip Cobra and Crunch Hippo!"
A door with loads of locks and chains appeared behind. His monsters turned into balls of fires, going into the locks, unlocking them. Soon the door slowly opened, with a dark mist unveiling.
"Master of the dark arts! Be released from your imprisonment and dazzle the audience with chaos! Ritual Summon! Descend, Level 7! Enterror Cuff Magician!"
Out of the door came a monster with a very tall top hat, a long-horned mask for its face, a cropped red eighteenth century-esque suit worn open with the collar popped, stitched heart designs on the shoulders, a white ruffle tie, a black, tailed corset running down its torso; large, black, feathery wings starting at around the small of its back; claws; red coverings on its legs resembling pants and boots with blade-like heels. Its wrists were handcuffed with very long chains, but it didn't seem bothered by them.

"That monster… why does it resemble that monster so much?" Ishijima asked himself.
"Cuff Magician gains 300 ATK points for each Spell or Trap face-up on the field. I count two, so he gains 300 ATK."
(Enterror Cuff Magician 2500 + 300 X 2 = 3100 ATK)
"Those monsters… the resemblance… the catchphrase…" Ishijima said, as if he was piecing something together. "Wait, you couldn't be...!"
"It seems you figured out who I am." Joker said. "This will make this even sweeter! Battle! Enterror Cuff Magician, attacks Battleguard King! Bound Slash!"
Enterror Cuff Magician took out its hand cuffs, before slashing at Battleguard King, destroying it. The shockwave cracked the walls, a few pebbles hitting Joker mask, cracking it a bit, revealing a single red eye, while Strong Ishijima was sent flying.
Ishijima: 900 – 2500 = 0 LP
WINNER: Joker
Joker approached the fallen duelist. "Man you're weak. I didn't have to use Lupin's full power." He remarked.
Ishijima was on the ground, too injured to get up. Joker walked towards him and knelt next to him. "You're… the kid that went missing…"
"Right on the spot." Joker said, the distorted voice gone. He took his mask and hat off, revealing the face of a young man, with long black and yellow hair.
"Sakaki… Ren…" Ishijima muttered. "I thought… you were… dead."
Joker chuckled. "Trust me, sometimes it feels that way. Though I haven't been using that name in a long time. I go by Joker now." He said, before he patted Ishijima chest, not caring for the pain Ishijima felt. "Anyway, Its time for you to pay."
"P-Pay?" Strong Ishijima started to panic. "Pay for what?"
"Oh, don't play dumb, Strong Ishijima." Joker said as Cuff Magician appeared, grabbing Ishijima with his cuffs. "I know you're not as pure as you lead your fans to believe."
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Ishijima yelled, seeing red eyes appearing in the darkness. "Im innocent!"
"Oh, I think you do. After all…" Joker leaned into Strong Ishijima, as if he was whispering a secret. "…I was there that night."
Strong Ishijima widened his eyes. "Y-You were…" He said, stammering.
Joker laughed, a maniacal smile on his face. "Oh man, thats the face I wanted to see. It was worth the wait!" He said, before he snapped his fingers. "Au revoir, faux champion."
Cuff Magician dragged Ishijima into the alley once again, the former champion screaming and dragging his hands across the ground. Soon after he disappeared, sounds of bloodshed echoed across the alley, as a pond of blood began to form.
Joker was unfazed by this, taking out a notebook, flipping to a particular page. He patted his pockets. "Oh for the love of…" He groaned before turning back into the alley. "Does anyone have something I can write with?!"
Out of the shadows something flew by, which Joker caught easily. He looked at the item and raised an eyebrow. "A bit dramatic, but it will do." He said, crossing a name off the list. "One to go." He dropped the item, revealed to be a torn-off finger.
He looked at the full moon in the sky, hearing the birds chirp, smelling the flowers of a nearby shop, while the cold wind rustled around him. He closed his eyes, hearing the screams die down. "Guess its time for a family reunion…"
