Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers.
Chapter 1
In Nebraska, near a small quiet town with an unremarkable name, there was a small white house with a brown roof. The owner of this house could afford a much more luxurious home in a better area, but she did not need it, she just wanted peace and quiet.
The old woman was sitting on the wide veranda of this house and admired the sunset. Today, the sky has turned reddish and yellowish shades. These colors reminded her of one of her acquaintances.
It was so long ago. More than fifty years had passed since his death, and it still hurt her to remember him and their friendship.
Remembering her feelings for him, she realized that at that time she felt something more than a simple friendly affection for him. He was her first crush.
Her hand involuntarily reached for the necklace. Many years of hidden sadness and longing squeezed her old heart as if in a vice. When Alexis was still working, she could not afford to openly wear this necklace because of the strict requirements for the dress code, but now she is retired and could afford it.
The green stone from Mars shone as brightly as it had many years ago. But unlike the stone, time did not spare Alexis.
She's changed. There is no trace of a twelve-year-old girl who naively dreams of becoming president.
Her brown hair had grown out and turned completely gray, it was gathered in a large tight bun at the back of her head. There were wrinkles under her eyes, around her lips and on her forehead. Her figure has also changed with age, she has become a little fatter.
Only in the depths of the green eyes there was still a young light burning, but it was quite difficult to see it behind fatigue, sadness and a lot of life experience, which was not always pleasant.
For many years, she worked to establish good relations between humans and aliens. She visited Cybertron several times on a diplomatic mission, where she met with Optimus, Hot Shot and Red Alert. She certainly didn't have time for personal conversations with them, but it was still nice to see them.
Alexis liked her job. She really liked it. But it happens in life that even the most beloved work can get boring. She is tired of political intrigues, she is tired of hearing conversations behind her back that she has stayed in her post too long and that it is high time for her to give way to the young. Alexis was so tired of this negative atmosphere that she resigned, but before that she made sure that her position fell into good hands.
Her place was taken by a young active woman named Lori Jimenez. Alexis was glad that it was Lori who got her position, because she saw great potential in her.
Alexis didn't get married, she never even had a long-term relationship. Once, a long time ago, she went on dates several times, but the relationship did not go beyond dating. Because of this, she met with misunderstandings of friends and acquaintances, they all behaved as if something was wrong in her. They constantly told her that loneliness was bad, that she should find someone for herself.
After retiring, she traveled around the United States and Europe for a while, until she returned to where it all started.
She's back in Nebraska.
She specially chose the most remote and quiet area so that it would be difficult for her annoying acquaintances with their eternal unnecessary advice to find her.
And now she was sitting here and looking at the sun sinking below the horizon and remembering her childhood.
Suddenly, the silence around the secluded house was shattered by the sound of jet engines.
The jet was rushing rapidly towards a small house. When the elegant machine was already very close, it transformed into a huge robot.
The old woman got up and took a couple of steps towards him. She felt like a young girl, who saw a giant robot for the first time.
He was similar and at the same time different from him. His optics were green. The structure of his frame was different and the color of his paint job also changed. But still there was something familiar about him in the way he stood, in the features of his faceplate, in the look lowered at her.
"Who are you?" She was afraid to mistake another robot for her friend.
"I think you already know the answer to your question," said the seeker.
"Starscream..." Alexis said his name a little hesitantly.
She knew for sure that he was dead. Alexis couldn't believe that he was standing in front of her in this new guise and clearly wasn't going to disappear.
"You survived... But how... I know for a fact that you died then. Unicron destroyed you. There's not a trace of you left..."
"As you can see, I am not so easy to destroy."
"How did you find me?"
"I'm a seeker. Remember? It's very easy for me to find something or someone. And... I must say that the Internet is really a convenient thing."
Starscream moved his hand invitingly to Alexis. She slowly climbed onto the large metal palm. The metal beneath her body was hard and cool. He was real. He was somehow able to come back to life.
The seeker held her up to his faceplate. His optics were studying the old woman intently. It wasn't easy for him to recognize her as Alexis. Everything in her has changed a lot. Only one thing in her has remained the same. Her eyes. Those familiar green eyes looked at him with great surprise.
A glint caught his optic. The sunset ray of the sun reflected off the green stone on her chest. She was still wearing it. She hadn't forgotten him.
"You've changed a lot."
"Well, you've changed, too."
They were silent for a few moments and just looked at each other, getting used to the changes in their appearance, until Starscream decided to continue the conversation.
"I think you want to know, why I'm here? I've come for you, Alexis. I don't want to be separated from you anymore. My spaceship is ready to depart, but there is one more passenger missing on board. And that passenger is you, Alexis."
Starscream saw an excited expression appear on Alexis face, which, however, quickly changed to a sad one. The former Decepticon had a bad feeling about this.
"Thank you for the offer, Starscream. But I'm afraid I must disappoint you. And I'm sorry about that. You see, I'm too old for space travel. If you had only come for me even thirty years ago, I would have agreed to go with you without hesitation. But now I'll be a burden to you."
"Don't say that, Alexis. You will never be a burden to me. You're too light for that."
Alexis felt the arm around her body tighten.
"Listen, Starscream, I'm glad that you remembered me after all these years. I'm glad I met you again. I was very glad to know that you are alive. But you don't have to do anything for me. Find yourself another passenger - young and from your race. I won't be offended if you do that."
"But I need you, Alexis. Only you."
Starscream wasn't going to give up. He could certainly take her with him against her will. This is exactly what he would have done if he was still a Decepticon. But he had changed and did not want to solve all his problems through physical strength. Besides, he respected Alexis and wanted her to go with him voluntarily.
"Look at me again, Starscream. Look at me carefully."
The green optics met the green eyes.
"I'm old. I might just die while traveling. What will you do when I feel really bad and I need medical help? There's nothing you can do to help me. I don't think you want me to die in your arms. However, you can still visit me here from time to time, if you really value our friendship so much. You must understand that people are very weak, unlike transformers. Believe me, I want to go with you with all my heart, but my decrepit body will not allow me to do it. Unfortunately, we are too different to be together."
Starscream was a little disappointed. When he finally remembered Alexis, he went in search of her. He had expected to meet a twelve-year-old girl, not an old weak woman. He somehow forgot that people change a lot with age.
However, he clearly saw that a young impetuous soul was trapped inside this old body. Is there any way to put her soul, consciousness and mind in another stronger and longer-lived body? It was almost impossible to do this, but there was still a small hope for it. There was one myth that approached the solution of the current problem. Of course, this was just a legend, but any legend still has a real basis.
"Alexis, would you like to become a transformer yourself?"
For Alexis, this question sounded unexpected and a little strange.
"Is this even possible?"She asked.
"I've heard of a legend that is common among the Autobots. Onсe, an Autobot named Seaspray went with his comrades to a distant planet, from where strange signals were sent. This planet was under the control of the Decepticons, who enslaved the locals. There Seaspray met an organic woman named Alana and fell in love with her. Their feelings flared up suddenly and strongly. But as you can understand, they could not be together because they were from completely different species. However, they found a solution to their problem. There was a well on this planet that allowed living beings to change their nature."
"This story was very interesting and romantic, but as you said yourself, it's just a myth, a legend."
"If I find this planet and find the well, will you come with me when I get back?"
He looked at her pleadingly. Starscream hoped that she would agree.
Alexis understood how difficult it was for him to ask or beg for anything. Not so long ago, by the time standards of transformers, of course, he was a Decepticon who was not used to asking for something, he was used to just taking what he wanted. But it seems that he tried to change and he succeeded in it. Alexis was proud of him. Even as a child, she saw potential in Starscream.
She very much doubted the possibility of the existence of the mysterious well of transformation, but it was difficult for the woman to resist the seeker's pleading gaze. She could see that he was hoping that she would agree. Alexis couldn't take away his hope.
No. Not only his hope, but also her hope for a new meeting with him.
She decided to agree and confirmed it with one word, "Yes."
"Do you promise?"
"I promise. And... Starscream, even if you don't find the well, you can always come back here. I will always be glad to see you."
Starscream smiled at her, gently squeezed her fragile human body and lowered Alexis to the ground. Then he transformed and soared upward. Starscream made several circles around the woman's house, saying goodbye to her in such a peculiar way, and disappeared into the evening sky.
