Somewhere in New York:
"Come on, Z, it's not that hard, you'll see."
"Easy for you to say, Petey." Zatanna groaned and heard Peter giggle at her current behavior. She was currently bent down, her legs apart and her hands on her knees trying to stay in balance. She was already out of breath, which she found pathetic knowing that they had been there for a total of ten minutes.
"Come on, you can do it." Peter encouraged her.
Zatanna tried to glance up in his direction, but immediately looked back down as she felt one foot making a run from the other. She stared at the white floor in front of her eyes and cursed herself for suggesting this activity.
When Peter first suggested it, it had seemed such a good idea at first, going to the ice-skating ring that had just opened in New York due to the snow. And Zatanna had looked so excited when he had asked her if she wanted to go.
Peter and Zatanna were wearing light winter gear as both of them had powers to keep themselves warm enough without the heavy gear.
But Zatanna had forgotten she was actually bad at ice-skating. Her feet never seemed to coordinate with her brain, she never knew what to do with her arms and her back was always doing back-and-forth movements that weren't exactly pretty to look at.
Zatanna then took a deep breath, trying to calm her agitated heart. How was it possible that she could fight off a dozen criminals while keeping her identity secret and could stand up to an audience of dozens of people almost every night but walking on an iced floor seemed like the most terrifying thing in the world to her?
Zatanna let out a loud sigh. "This has to be in your DNA or something."
Peter snorted and shook his head. "Yeah sure, keep telling yourself that, honey, but I was good at ice skating long before the spider bite."
Zatanna's whole body shot up at the comment, but she immediately lost balance and fell on her back, her feet flying up with the fall, his head hitting the cold floor accompanied by a gruesome noise.
Peter let out a small shriek soon followed by her kneeling next to her. "You okay?"
"I'm fine." Zatanna grunted in reply as Peter began to help her up. "You know, I could use a spell and become better."
"Nope, no spells, no magic, no spandex tonight." Peter stated, getting a confused look at someone coming past them at the last statement. "Tonight, you're just Zatanna Zatara, the most amazing, incredible, and unstoppable woman on this earth. And I'm Peter Parker...high school teacher."
Zatanna chuckled as she raised herself to a sitting position. "Okay. Fine. You win, we'll do it your way."
Peter rolled his eyes and stood up, stretching his hand to her so that she could follow him. "Let's try again." He suggested as soon as she was back up on her feet. "Come on: Your feet can't be so parallel to each other, because then they just go front and back and you'll lose your whole balance."
"Then what I am supposed to do? Because that's the only position that keeps me on my feet." Zatanna complained like a little kid and Peter had to smile at that.
"Keeping you on your feet? Like a moment ago?" Peter snickered.
Once again, he was the aim of her glare that could (and almost did) kill Steppenwolf. "Very funny."
Peter had to bite the inside of his cheek to avoid laughing more at his girlfriend. "No but seriously, form a small angle with the line of your feet and then push to the outside. Then it'll be easier to slide across the ice."
Zatanna doubtfully looked up at him, so he gave her a reassuring smile.
"Come on, take my hand and I'll help you." Peter promises.
Zatanna then carefully grabbed his hand while the other was clutching at the railing. "I'm too young to die." Zatanna muttered and Peter just chuckled.
One of the things Zatanna really liked about Peter over the years is that he could be open and vulnerable, but when he needed to be, he could step up and be there for difficult times. And yet during both those times, he's always acting like a little kid.
Slowly, Peter began to led Zatanna forward along the railing, making slow swipes with his feet, showing her how to do it.
Zatanna tried her best to copy his movement but somehow her feet wouldn't do what she wanted them to. She kept swinging forward and backwards and Peter had to hold tight to her arm so that she wouldn't end up back on the ground, taking him with her in the process.
It took some time, but she was finally getting the hang of it.
Zatanna started to take it slow and was able to actually move on her own. "I think I'm getting the hang of it!"
Peter watched from the sidelines and smiled at the sight. He didn't know what he did to deserve someone as amazing as her, but he was glad she was a part of his life.
But then, his senses went off and he turned away and looked around to see why they would've gotten off, but all he saw was a bunch of people watching others on the rink, taking pictures, or just walking around.
"Hey, everything okay?" Zatanna asked as she came past and ran into the railing to stop herself. Seems she still needed to work on the stopping.
"Yeah, yeah, I just thought that something was wrong." Peter apologized.
"Come on, you said it yourself. Until someone actually does come to threaten the city, no Spider-Man." Zatanna reminded him. "And if anything does come up, Miles will handle it. If he needs help, he'll call us."
"You're right. You're absolutely right." Peter promises and lets the feeling go and they began skating hand to hand.
"So, you talk to Bruce lately?" Zatanna asks.
"Nah, it seems his new Robin's been taking a lot of his time." Peter told her, thinking of the new girl Bruce found who wanted to help the Dark Knight keep the city of Gotham safe.
He doesn't really talk about her, but when the others usually meet up, they chat and talk at their new headquarters they've been building out of the old Wayne Mansion that was burnt down years ago.
They've repurposed it with Bruce and Peter's designs, with Barry's speed, and they were able to create a new headquarters they call the "Hall of Justice" out of it.
In a dark alleyway, there was a arms deal going down with the newest of the biggest weapons on the black market.
"Keep treating me like this, the cops might just get a tip on your fucking face." The dealer promised.
"I'll take my chances." He promises when one of them were crying in pain and dropped to the ground. "What was that?!"
"Why can't you guys sell something nice? Like stickers or pizza?" Miles' voice called out and was immediately met with a punch to the face as Miles became visible for them all to see him.
"Crap! It's Spider-Boy!" One of them say as they pull their guns out.
"He can't take all of us!" Another stated.
"Care to make a bet?" Miles stated as he leaped over one of them by grabbing their shoulders and leaping before using a web to send him back down and kicking him in the face.
One then aimed at his back when Miles did a spin and charged up a Venom-Punch and smacked him in the face, finishing them off.
"Let that be a lesson to you..." Miles said when he looked at the time and was shocked as he had somewhere to be. "Oh, just don't do that again! I need to go!" He then shot a web out and began to make it to his date with Hailey Cooper.
GOTHAM:
Off the shore of the city, a crate that was on its way to STAR Labs in Central City before it was hijacked by two people who were currently driving away as fast as they could to escape.
"Where's Raymond and Benny?" The driver asked.
"He got them already!" The passenger stated as he looked out the window for him. "Just go! Before he gets us!"
They kept driving; unaware someone was tailing them from above. But to them, it was all clear.
"You think we lost him?"
"I think we did." The driver said with a sigh of relief.
But before they could think anything else, the Batman landed on the hood of the vehicle. "You were saying?"
"Shit!" The passenger said as he shot the window, only for glass to go flying everywhere and them to close their eyes, seeing Batman was gone.
But they then missed the batarangs all over the way out and all of their tires get popped and the car is sent swilling into the crates and their crate gets thrown out.
Bruce then walked over to the men as one of them crawled out to grab their gun. He then stepped on their hand, causing them to scream.
"Who are you working for?" Bruce demanded.
"Nobody!" He promised Bruce. "Look, we just boosted the truck-"
"Lie again and crashing to the wall head on will be the least of your worries." Bruce promises.
"No, I..." the man was saying when they hear something beeping and saw it was coming from their crate. Once it opened, fog came out and what stepped out looked to be an Android human shaped being with glowing eyes as it immediately scanned the area once activated.
"What the hell is that?" The thug asked Bruce.
"The AMAZO Project." Bruce informed him.
"What's the hells an AMAZO?" He asked.
"An highly advance, cybernetic android designed to copy the powers of super humans." Bruce stated.
"What kind of super humans we talking?" The thug asked when Bruce had to dodge as AMAZO slammed the ground and sent out a shockwave that sent several of the crates toppling over.
"All of them." Bruce stated before dropping the injured crook and charging at AMAZO. Throwing smoke bombs as a diversion, Bruce didn't realize they already enhanced him with all of Superman's abilities (all except enhanced skin) and he was able to see right through it.
That didn't however stop Batman from getting a kick in his face, sending the Android flying backwards. But as soon as it was down, AMAZO got back up and sent a powerful punch that sent Bruce flying into the crates and leaving a dent.
"Wow, a toaster on steroids." A female voice said, and Bruce looked up to the crates and noticed that Stephanie Brown, AKA the new Robin, was standing at the top of the crates, holding her staff in both hands as the wind was blowing her hair gently in the breeze.
Her outfit is consisted of green tights with black ankle-high steel-toed boots, green elbow-high gloves, a short-sleeve green t-shirt underneath a red armored vest with a yellow letter "R" over her left pectoral muscle, a yellow utility belt and a black cape that has a yellow interior. As well as a black-and-white domino mask, with her hair blowing in the breeze.
"Need some help?"
"No." Bruce said, almost sounding sarcastic, but with his voice, you can never tell. He then raced back to the cybernetic Android as Stephanie watched him run.
"Okay, well then, I'll just stick around and take a few notes for superhero school." Stephanie said jokingly before jumping and landing on the back of the sideways truck and leaping down before running at the Android.
The said Android was lifting a crate and sent it flying at the two. Bruce was close enough that he was able to duck and miss it, but Stephanie wasn't as lucky, and she ended up needing to jump in order to escape getting pummeled by the crate.
Running up to the Android, Bruce dodges the rubble he was carrying before Stephanie used the diversion to jump up and whack AMAZO with her stick and then using it again to stab the weak point in its neck, causing it to malfunction, followed with Bruce coming back and the two using their grapple guns to give them some height and the two sucker punched AMAZO, damaging his face and circuitry further.
Bruce and Stephanie then got some night and Bruce sent several batarangs flying into AMAZO. But all of them did nothing, as AMAZO just ended up batting them all away.
"I think we're gonna need something better." Stephanie stated as Bruce said nothing when the batarangs all blew up, and the two of them ran from the destruction and fire.
"You think that'll stop him?" Stephanie asked when a flaming AMAZO came smashing through the crates and made his way up to them, his exoskeleton melting and revealing his circuitry. "Never mind. I have my answer."
"We need to get to higher ground." Bruce said and the two used their grapple guns when AMAZO took to the skies.
"He can fly? Why the hell can he fly?" Stephanie questioned as AMAZO grabbed her and Bruce used his other grapple to grab onto his foot. "Hey, any helpful tips would be very handy right now!"
"He has the same weak points as every human." Bruce tell see.
"Oh!" Stephanie understands what he was saying and grabbed one of her batarangs and stabbed AMAZO in the eye, causing him to malfunction.
He then dropped Stephanie and she was caught by Bruce who used his grapple to get them both to the ground safely. They also saw as AMAZO crashed into the ground but got back up on his feet and his non damaged eye began to glow and shot a beam out of it and went for them.
"Lasers!?" Stephanie asked as she and Bruce leaped in opposite directions to avoid the beam. "Why the fuck does he have lasers?!"
It seems that it held a grudge against Stephanie as he was mostly aiming for her as she was dodging and blocking every attack of lasers he sent at her.
But Bruce saw it as an opening for him as he sneaked behind AMAZO and placed something over his remaining eye and damaged eye, and he tried to pry them off.
"I really don't think that putting putty on his eyes is gonna stop him." Stephanie said when Bruce revealed a remote and activated it, followed by AMAZO's head exploding and going everywhere. "Oh, Plastique. That-that makes more sense."
CENTRAL CITY:
Barry Allen was currently racing down the streets towards another crime happening downtown.
Apparently, his old friend, Hartley Rathaway, AKA Pied Piper is back on the loose and us using his seismic gauntlets to cause mayhem.
Hartley sent a gigantic blast of energy down at the police cars that were approaching, causing some of them to be sent flying, when Barry quickly sped in, his blue electricity sparking off of him as he quickly saved the officers from the crashing cars and immediately sped over to Hartley and did a quarterback tackle (something he picked up from Victor) and sent him flying into the side of a building.
"Really? Hathaway, you've got to find a better use of that tech." Barry said with a scoff. "Now, come on, take it like a big boy, take off the gloves, and nobody gets hurt."
"I have a better idea, Flash." Hartley said before he raised his hands in a surrender gestures before releasing two blasts that caught Barry by surprise and sent him flying into a glass logo.
"Okay." Barry groaned as he got back on his feet and stood up with determination. "My turn." He then quickly began to speed around Hartley and punching him, hard enough he was sent flying off and into the hood of the police truck. But while he was flying, before he could notice, Barry took his gauntlets and tossed them to an officer.
"Thanks, Flash." The officer said.
"Just doing my job." Barry said before seeing the time. "Oh, shoot, I'm gonna be late!" He then quickly sped off and left the officers behind.
"What, got a hot date or something?" Another officer asked the thin air.
But it turned out that he actually did indeed have a date with a certain woman.
He quickly sped and got changed from his suit into some normal attire before heading up to a coffee shop where he sees Iris West.
Smiling, he headed on inside for his first official date.
LEXCORP FACILITY:
"Please...please!" One of the scientists pleaded for mercy when the newest attempt at cloning Peter Parker, AKA Subject KA1N3, was slowly marching towards the scientist. "Mercy!"
"Did you show any mercy to the others that came before or after me?" The Subject questioned as he reached and grabbed the scientist's face.
The scientist then let out an ear piercing cry as the Subject stayed still and watched him cry in agony. Once he removed his hand, it was revealed that he had scorched his entire face with just a touch.
He then walked out of the shadows to reveal he looked exactly like Peter Parker...if it weren't for the fact his entire left half of his face looked like it was completely scorched from his cheek, all the way back to his ear, and from his chin all the way up to his forehead. Even his left eye looked as if it was scorched and bloodshot.
"I showed you the same mercy." Subject KA1N3 stated before walking up to the sealed steel doors and ripping it off its hinges with his own hands and saw he was finally free.
If only he knew where the hell he was.
In another part of the faculty, Subject J3S51KA was being looked over by some of the scientists when she saw the whole place began to go under lockdown.
Seeing this as her chance to finally escape, she ripped herself free of the restraints, always keeping her true strength a secret for an opportunity like this.
She punched both of the scientists at the same time and flipped backwards and pried her chair free of the ground before tossing it at the computers, attacking several of the people and destroying their data at the same time before running out the doors where she was met with a dozen armed personnel.
But luckily, J3 was quick with her senses and immediately jumped onto the ceiling when the armed men opened fire, giving her enough time to jump at them, tackling the first of them and then grabbing the other two to her left and right before using them to slam into the others, busting a few heads open in the process, but not enough they'll die.
"Hey, what's happening?" A childlike voice asked in one of the cells and J3 looked to one of the other cells and sighed.
She knew she wasn't going to leave anyone behind and quickly raced over before hacking into the cell. Sadly, they use the same code for all the cells and doors in the building. So all she had to was memorize the one they would use to put her back in her cell in the end of the day.
When the door opened, J3 was met with the few last of the attempts of cloning Spider-Man.
He was a younger boy, as the cloning process was interrupted by that psychotic Superman and Wonder Woman clones they invented here. And let's say he had the attitude of someone of his age.
"Oh, hey, Jessica." R0S5 greeted her with a smile.
The clones, when they were forced to be together, would try to get to know one another, even though they were all technically the same person. They all have different memories, different fragments of who they were supposed to be. They even all gave themselves fun nicknames based off of their assigned numbers.
Due to them calling her Subject J3S51KA, she was given the nickname Jessica. Taking that a step further, Jessica gave herself the last name Drew based off of a vague memory from the memories that she was 'born' with.
The grumpy and sometimes psychotic clone with the half cooked face they were actually friendly towards, but he was always sour towards them. They decided to call him Kaine, but he didn't seem to like the name. Even though they could tell he liked how much they cared.
Then there was Subject R0S5, the only child of the group. In fact, they even joked how they were basically a little family. Jessica being the older sister trying to keep her siblings out of trouble, Kaine the brother who doesn't care what's happening and was always annoyed by someone or something, and then there was Ross (R0S5) who was the irritating little brother doing whatever he thought he could.
"What's happening?" Ross asked her.
"I'm breaking out of here. Wanna come?" Jessica asked casually, almost as if it was a conversation of the older sister sneaking her brother out to take him to McDonald's or to the movies without their parents knowing rather than them escaping the prison they've been calling home.
"Yea!" Ross cheered as he stood up.
"Then let's get out of here." Jessica said as she reached on the wall and tossed a gun over to Ross. It wasn't a real gun, rather than a device that shoots out synthetic spider fluid since none of the scientists here could figure out how Spider-Man made them, and even though Jessica knew how to make them, she wasn't going to share her secrets to these scientists.
The fluid on the other hand they broke within the week.
Jessica and Kaine didn't need the web shooters since when the scientists were poking them when they were just DNA and accidentally gave them both organic webbing.
Making their way into the halls, they saw that they really are high targets (big shock) as they sent what seemed to be every guard in the facility.
Ross quickly used his powers and was sprung to the ceiling and clutched onto the ceiling before leaping and kneeing the guard in the face.
"Whoo! I've never felt so alive!" Ross cheered as he used his pistol to shoot a web strand that he used and attached to one of the other guards before tossing him into the others.
Jessica made her way over to the elevator when she saw Ross wasn't letting up and was having too much fun fighting the guards.
"Hey, Spider-Boy! Did you forget our goal is to escape?" Jessica asked him.
"Oh, come on! I'm just getting warmed up!" Ross complained when Jessica saw they were coming in with new taser guns.
"Watch out!" Jessica cried and shot a web out to stop them, but the strand was too late as by the time she reached the gun, it already shot out an electrical pulse that went flying and shot Ross in the back, sending him toppling. "Ross!"
She then goes to get him back when she suddenly senses something and turned to see more of them with taser guns and dodged a blast from the weapons.
Seeing that she's too outnumbered, she knew she had to leave Ross if she wanted to save him. If he gets captured, they'll take it easy on him, since he's the last of the experiments. But she'll be able to come back and save him.
If they both get captured, they won't ever have another chance to escape again.
Jumping at the elevator shaft, she broke the doors down easily and shot two strands of webbing to use before using them as a slingshot and sending herself flying up several stories.
Crawling up as fast as she can, she made her way up the shaft and leaping to each side in order to get up higher. But her problem got worse when the elevator made its way down.
Seeing no other way out, Jessica grabbed the side of the shaft before letting her legs fall limp and then swung herself upwards and broke through the floor of the elevator with her feet and landed on the ceiling. Inside, she sees there were a few guards who were startled by her appearance.
"Hi!" Jessica greeted before shooting two in the face with her webbing with her arms crossed and then pulled the two of them into the other two guards and knocked the four of them out.
Sighing in relief, Jessica dropped off the ceiling and pulled the emergency stop on the elevator before taking a minute to pull herself together.
Believe it or not, but she's still not used to the whole 'being a girl' thing. Considering in all of her memories, she's a boy.
Their finally hit her.
She knew exactly who could help her burn this place to the ground. She needs the Justice League.
The only problem was she doesn't know where any of them are. She only has the memories of Peter Parker up to the fight with Superman. That's as far as the memories go.
The only reason she knows the Justice League because the scientists talk about them a lot.
If she's going to take down this organization, she needs to find the team. And in order to find the team, she needs to find her donor.
She needs to find Peter Parker.
And she knew exactly where to find him.
Hitting the tenth floor button, then putting the elevator off emergency mode, she made her way to the one place she knew had answers to help her and Peter before making her way out.
On her way back to New York.
Back to Zatanna.
Back to Peter Parker.
He needs to know the truth.
About everything.
GOTHAM:
Victor was currently back home with his father working on a few matters, just using his powers to help as many people as he could in a minute.
When he was looking all over the world, seeing how many others needed help, or who needed to be put away, he came across something interesting.
He watched as he saw someone wearing a hood over his face and just staring at his own reflection.
Wondering why, Vic took a closer look and saw that he looked awfully familiar to someone he knows. Except for the gigantic bruise on the side of his face.
He then saw the man punch the window he was staring into and stole a loaf of bread before walking down the street and then leaping, followed by him crawling up the wall and escaping before anyone could notice what happened.
Using his abilities, he took the memories of his face and ran it through facial recognition in order to find out who he is. But he was surprised that this man has no birth certificate, hospital visits, or anything else.
But he found something.
His entire face was a 92% match to none other than Peter Parker.
"Oh my fucking god." Victor finally understood what was wrong and quickly friend to get in touch with Peter, but he wasn't picking up. He then woke back up to reality and needed to get into contact with Peter.
Now.
"Dad, I'm gonna need to head out. Something came up." Victor said as he stood up and grabbed his jacket.
"Something wrong?" Dr. Stone asked his son.
"I'm not sure yet." Victor said as he placed his jacket on and headed out the door.
