Chapter One: How a Whale and Dragon save a Demon
~A/N~ So I decided to do a little rework on My Demonic Hero Academia. Izuku is now Izumi and Bakugo is a good friend. I hope you like the change.
Chapter Start!
Izumi's back slammed against a wall for what felt like the millionth time in her life. She was once again cornered by bullies. It wasn't her fault. She didn't go out of her way to antagonize them. They targeted her because of her quirk. Her demonic appearance.
Izumi was a demon. At least that's what everyone told her. They didn't care that she was a wonderful girl or someone with a truly pure heart. They only cared that her skin was black as the starless sky with veins of radioactive green running over her. That her hands were claws, that her eyes glowed green, that she had a pair of wicked goat horns, or that she hand wings and a tail. All those meant she was 'evil' and a 'villain' and that she didn't matter.
The only person that ever seemed to care about her was her best friend. Bakugo Katsuki. He protected her, saved her, watched over her. But now he was gone. Her parents had gotten jobs out of the city. So he had to move away. With Kaachan gone nobody offered to save the little demon girl. Because nobody cared, nobody knew she was alone. Her father slain by a villain, her mother taken away by cancer, her home destroyed during a villain fight. Now she lived alone in an abandoned warehouse. Not that anyone cared.
A kick to her gut brought her back to the present situation. Being beaten up by her classmates. "Please," Izumi begged. She was so tired of being hurt.
"Shut up you demon," One of her tormentors shouted before he delivered another kick to Izumi's stomach. "You should just listen to the teachers and die already," He added.
"I don't want to die," Izumi cried tears running down her face.
"I said shut up!" her bully yelled as he went for another kick. As his kick came something finally snapped inside of Izumi. Mustering all her remaining strength she leaped to her feet and flapped her wings as hard as she could.
"Where are you going!" the bully shouted before he shot a bone out of his arm knocking Izumi off her feet before her wings could lift her.
~Elsewhere~
Today had been perfect. The best day in Sakamata Kugo's life. He finally worked up the guts to tell his best friend and crush that he had been crushing on her since U.A. and to his delight, she returned his affection. So here they were. Together. They had enjoyed their date. He knew not to go over the top. She hated that. She adored the simpler things. Hence the dinner at a mom-and-pop restaurant rather than a high-class one. A movie at a small theatre rather than a large cinema. And now to end the night they were simply walking together and enjoying their company.
"I should've said something sooner," Kugo said embarrassed.
"I think everything was perfect the way it was," Ryuko replied smiling happily. "Who knows what could've happened if you confessed sooner. All we can do is live in the now," She added while taking Kugo's hand.
"You're right," Kugo replied gently squeezing Ryuko's hand.
"And I always will be," Ryuko laughed then stopped seeing Kugo had tensed up. She knew that look. "What did you hear?"
"A scream," Kugo replied.
"Lead the way," Ryuko said. Kugo nodded and the two took off.
~Back with Izuku~
Izumi cried as she curled up. Her bully had torn through her wing. Thankfully after having done that the boy left. Must have thought he'd done enough for the moment.
"Where did you hear it?" A voice asked. Izumi froze her eyes darting around for a safe spot.
"It was around here," A deep voice replied. Izumi's frantic search paid off. There was a dumpster and she knew she could fit under it.
"Wait what was that?" The first voice spoke. They must have seen her crawling under the dumpster.
"I didn't see it," The deep voice said.
"It looked like a little kid," The first said.
"Hello?" The deep voice called out. Izumi flinched and hit the dumpster.
"I knew I saw something," The first said.
'Please don't find me. Please don't find me. Please don't find me,' Izumi chanted in her mind.
"Are you ok?" Izumi could see two people in front of the dumpster. They hadn't tried to move it... yet.
"We're pro heroes. We can help you," The deep voice added.
'Would they really help if they saw me?' Izumi wondered but didn't move.
"Should we move it?" The deep voice whispered.
"No. I'm positive it's a child. Doing that would just scare them more. We need to prove we won't hurt them first," The first voice whispered back.
"That's why I said we're pros. I was hoping that would work," The deep voice replied.
"I'll handle this," The first said. "I know you're under there,"
"Don't hurt me," Izumi begged.
"I wouldn't dream of it. I'm Ryukyu a pro hero," Ryuko said as she knelt but didn't look under the dumpster. "What's your name?"
"I... Izumi," Izumi replied softly.
"We heard a scream can you tell me what happened?" Ryuko asked.
"They hurt me so I don't forget," Izumi replied tears forming in her eyes.
"What?" Ryuko asked hoping she had misheard the child.
"I'm a monster. Monsters get beaten up by heroes," Izumi said before freezing again. She'd just confessed she was a monster to actual heroes. She was so dead.
"I've never heard of a monster hiding in fear," The deep voice said in a surprisingly soft voice.
"Don't hurt me," Izumi said trying to hide further under the dumpster.
"I promise you I would never," The deep voice said. "I'm the pro hero Gang Orca," Kugo added hoping his well-known name would help soothe the child under the dumpster.
"Heroes hurt villains and monsters... I don't wanna get hurt anymore," Izumi whined.
"She's going in circles," Ryuko whispers.
"You know I used to be called a monster too," Kugo said.
"R... Really?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, people were scared because of how I looked. They thought I would attack them," Kugo said. "So while I probably haven't gone through it as badly as you. I have some experience," He added.
"So... you won't hurt me?" Izumi asked.
"Never," They both replied instantly.
"O... ok," Izumi said softly. The two heroes stood and took several steps back giving her space.
They watched as a small girl crawled out from under the dumpster. They both knew what she meant by monster and villain now. The girl truly looked like a demon. From the clawed hands and feet to the goat horns and the wings her physical appearance screamed demon. Her posture however told them she was anything but. She avoided eye contact and stood hunched in on herself. She was doing everything she could to look as small as possible.
A small snicker caused Ryuko's eyes to snap to Kugo. "If you're a villain then I'm death itself," Kugo said getting the girl to look at him in shock.
"Yo... You're not scared?" Izumi asked.
"Not even a little," Kugo replied before he slowly took a step forward. "Your wing is hurt," Izumi flinched her back against the wall. Kugo stopped seeing the girl trying to keep some distance between them.
"We can help you. If you want us to," Ryuko said placing a hand on Kugo's arm.
"Y... You'll help me?" Izumi asked unable to believe their offer was true.
"If you'll let us. We know a doctor that will look you over. She won't be afraid of you," Kugo said.
'What if they are lying?' Izumi thought. She looked at the two. If they wanted to hurt her nothing could stop them. Somewhere deep within told her to give it a shot. So she took a tentative step forward. The two heroes didn't move. They let her have full control and wouldn't risk scaring her.
Izumi slowly crept up to the heroes watching both of them closely. Her eyes snapped to the woman's hand as it slowly rose. She kept her movements slow and obvious. She offered her hand to the girl.
'Save me,' Izumi thought as she took her hand. Then everything went dark.
"Izumi!" Ryuko shouted as the girl collapsed into her arms.
"Take her. I'll call ahead," Kugo said as Ryuko lifted Izumi into her arms and took off. She couldn't change in the alley. Kugo followed pulling out his phone.
"Come on pick up," Kugo said as the phone rang. He kept his eyes on Ryuko as he exited the alleyway. A moment later the shorter blonde was gone and in its place was a dragon. With one last nod, she took off.
"U.A. Front Office," A voice answered.
"This is Gang Orca I need to speak with Recovery Girl and Nezu immediately," Kugo demanded.
"One moment," The voice said.
"What's the situation?" A squeaky voice asked.
"Who's hurt?" A calm elderly voice asked.
"While on a... patrol Ryukyu and myself found an injured girl. Clear signs of abuse. She's currently on her way to U.A. with Ryukyu. We need her looked over.
"I'll make sure to allow her in," Nezu responded.
"I'll ready a bed," Recovery Girl replied.
"Thank you. I'll be there shortly," Kugo said.
"Good, we'll need the full story," Nezu replied as the line went dead. Kugo put his phone away and took off towards where he left his truck.
