Note: This story is mostly in Bella's point of view, so if there's a chapter with Sam's point of view, I will let you all know :) THANK YOU :) for all your kind words, follows and favourites :) It really made my week :) xx
Billy made us coffee, and I noticed my duffel bag was on the kitchen bench, as we sat down opposite the other three. Sam must have noticed this too or sensed it because he suddenly snarled.
"Which one of you fuckers, touched my wife's stuff? For all you know, Bella may have wanted us to stay here, dumbasses." He said to them in an angry tone.
"We made Kim do it, as we had a feeling she'd be staying with you tonight," Jared tells him. I see Kim's eyes widen and she slaps Jared's arm.
"They had to pay me to do it, and I did tell them that it wasn't their decision, and Billy agreed with them, once he'd gotten the news out of these two idiots, that it will probably be best to pack Bella's bag, Incase Sam kicked off and they both left, without Bella's things.
"I'm not as bad as Jared was!" Sam said in defence. Keeping me close to him. Paul snorts and smirks.
"You two ain't that quiet. Chief sent me out to see what was taking you so long after we all turned up, and J went to pick Kim up from work! Unfortunately, I heard you at it. In our second skin, I can hear ya from miles away." I feel myself blushing, and could feel Sam get slightly angry.
"None of you are allowed to swing via the house for two weeks! You can fend for yourselves. Call it a kind of honeymoon period for Bella and I as we can't go anywhere. If Bella wants to invite one of you or all of you, then she can! But I'm Alpha ordering you not to step foot within ten minutes from my front door, or knock on it unless one of us is in danger." I see a look pass over Jared and Paul's faces as he said this. I look at Kim and she smirks at them, then winks at me.
"If you'd like any advice on how to handle this lot, you can get my number off of Sam's phone. I can tell you are nice and not bitchy like the last whore, he dated." I glanced at my husband, and Sam had pursed lips, and narrowed eyes, as he glared at Kim but had no comeback so it was obviously true.
"How's that fair? Kim can say and do whatever she wants but we get slapped on the ass with an Alpha order?" Jared complains as Paul nods.
"Kim's my cousin! You two aren't." Sam points out.
"Now that's all sorted, here is the paperwork." Uncle Billy slides over a pen and paper over and then our coffees as we look through and sign on the end, we just finished our coffees and Billy takes the paperwork, stating we are now officially Mr and Mrs Uley by law, as well as the tribe's customs and ways.
I'd just found out my husband and the two guys opposite are wolves, shapeshifters and what me and Kim are called in imprints/mates. It's when a wolf meets his or her soul mate when I notice everyone suddenly tenses. Kim and I looked at each other in confusion.
"Charlie's cruiser has just turned on to my drive Bella. I forgot you said something about him earlier. What was it you wanted to tell me?" Uncle Billy asks as Sam's arm tightens around my shoulders.
"Umm…" with all the changes, my mind went blank.
"He and mum had a huge row over the phone at the beginning of the week, and he hasn't been the same towards me since. Very cold and distant, I needed a break from him and Forks, which is when I remembered you saying I can stay whenever I would like to. I left Phoenix because of my mother's behaviour and walking down one morning to find her and the latest on the couch going at it! I felt fed up and wanted some stability, and normality of some kind. I thought I'd found that here, until that phone call from Mum, seemed to change everything. I don't know whether I believe it or not."
"I know there's more, that you are not telling me, Bella?" Uncle Billy knows me too well.
"I heard some of the conversations…" I mumble hiding my face into Sam's chest, not really wanting to talk about it anymore, with the arrival of Chief Charlie Swan.
"Do you want to stay or leave out the back way? You can wait in the woods until Charlie is inside?" Uncle Billy suggested, but Paul's comment changed that.
"Too late," he said as the front door opens.
"Your hearing is going soft, Chief!!" He chuckles.
"I got your call, Billy!" He grumbled coming into the kitchen, then noticed everyone in the room, including me. His eyes widened, then narrowed, and his face turned an angry shade of red and purple, to the point the familiar vein looked like it was going to burst out through the skin. It comes out when his favourite football team is losing when he watches matches on the TV.
"Everybody but Sam and Bella, leave. Paul, Jared I want an update on the situation, if Sam's going to be taking two weeks off work, then he can. You two will just have to stop complaining and suck it up. Jared, you had your time, so you can't complain." Everyone got up and left with those words, and as they did so, Kim said.
"Give us a call B." I nodded, unable to speak.
"Sit down Charlie. Beer or coffee?" He asked him.
"Strong coffee, three sugars. I'm on call!" He managed to get out through gritted teeth.
"Sit!" Uncle Billy told him, in a tone that even he couldn't seem to ignore. I sat up a bit straighter but didn't leave Sam's side. My husband is tense and has barely moved a muscle since Charlie arrived. He chose to sit in Uncle Billy's usual place, at the end of the table, away from us.
"What is going on, Billy?" He asked once Billy had made us all knew coffees.
"You tell me, Charlie Swan. That girl has been through enough. We all know what Renee is unfortunately like! You've been the only real person in her life, until this week. I don't like seeing my goddaughter upset! She's been more of a daughter, than my own two girls who don't seem to give a fuck about Jake and I." He said.
"None of your business! I don't know what the brat has said, but I wouldn't believe everything she says." I felt my temper flare-up, and I slapped my hands on the wooden table as I got up angrily, leaning forwards in his direction, catching them all by surprise.
"You asshole! You and Mum weren't exactly quiet over the phone the other night, and I heard some things, that I'm not sure I want to believe, until I have actual proof. Your door is opposite mine, and those walls aren't soundproof either." I said surprisingly calmly. Sam pulls me back down and glues me to his side, his lips at my ear as he whispers calming words to me.
"Why is he here?" Charlie asked. Ignoring everything else I said and an actual growl of anger and frustration slipped through my own lips, surprising me and everyone else in the small kitchen. Sam lifted me up in his lap, and I turned so I could face him, and bury my face into his neck so I didn't have to look at anyone. I could tell that Sam is glaring at Charlie, as he held me tightly to him.
"Bella is now officially part of the council and La Push, by being married to Sam, Charlie and there isn't anything you can do about it. They've been together for a while and kept it a secret. That's why they were all here today! Sam popped the question a few days ago, when Bella left to come here, and you and I both know, Bella doesn't like being centre of attention, and Sam is pretty much the same." I don't think I've ever seen Charlie look so speechless, as he stared at Billy with his jaw dropped.
"At least I no longer have to have responsibilities to the girl then." We all stare at Charlie with a shocked look, and even Billy looked a bit speechless this time.
"So it's true, what I headed?" I ask in a tone I don't recognise, or recognise the sound of my own voice.
"Yes. I stole some of your hairs from your hairbrush and did a DNA test! Something I've been wanting to do for a long while, but your mother stopped you coming for two weeks of the summer, and so I never got a chance, to get my own answers, from a memory that's haunted me since I walked in on her and him, after a long shift." Silence greeted his words.
"Who?" Uncle Billy asked. Charlie looked at him with narrowed eyes and responded coldly.
"Like you don't know! I told you my suspicions, and you told me bullshit. We never brought it up again!"
"It's been seventeen years Charlie! A lot has happened and changed in those years, since that night! To tell you the honest truth, I completely forgot about it."
"Some friend you are!" Charlie grumbled, drinking his coffee as he glared at Billy.
"Who?" I ask, trying to stay on topic.
"Terrance Lahote!" He managed to get out, before standing and leaving Billy's kitchen, but stopped in the doorway, and said before he actually left.
"I'll pack your shit. It's up to you, what you want to do about your education." Then he really did leave, and I had a feeling I wouldn't be seeing Charlie for a long while, after today. We all stayed silent for a long time, and Uncle Billy stood in the exact same spot, looking at the same place where Charlie left, frowning.
"At least you won't be patrolling for two weeks, Sam and we have time to prepare ourselves for breaking the news to Paul. Bella do you want to continue going to school or be the alpha's mate/wife?"
"I don't like the idea of being too far away from Sam, so I'd like to fully immerse myself into pack life, and Sam's wife, as we learn how to navigate our new roles." Sam clearly liked that idea and kissed my forehead.
"I'm happy with that baby. Are there any issues or anything else we need to know about in Forks or your mother?" He asked me, and I frowned as I thought about it, everything seemed a bit of a blur.
"Only Mike Newton, being a pain in the ass. I'll have to go back to Fork's high, to collect my stuff from my locker. Oh, and the Cullen family has been behaving oddly around me, ever since I first started." I feel Sam tense.
"In what way Bella?" Uncle Billy asks.
"Apparently, I don't smell bad or Sam wouldn't be this close to me, it's weird. I had to sit next to Edward Cullen, in most of my classes, and his eyes turn black sitting as far away from me as we can get. I went to the Cullen's house once or twice too because we had to work on a maths project together, which was even stranger. He didn't even have a bed in his room, just a piano, and his own personal library, stacked with CDs and books."
"Did they… try anything funny?" Sam asked through gritted teeth and I lifted my head to look up at him.
"Like what?" I asked, feeling a bit confused.
"Was you in a relationship with Cullen?" He asked.
"Oh god no!" I say shaking my head, "I definitely don't feel comfortable around them, that's for sure. The pixie-like one Alice, kept on staring at me oddly, after saying we are going to be the best of friends, after Edward introduced me to his family the first day of the project, before Christmas, and has barely spoken to me since. I've not seen or heard from Edward Cullen since the second day we almost completed the project. I guess it won't be happening at all now." I explained.
"No!" Both Uncle Billy and Sam said.
"We should tell her Chief, she's marked, and my wife! Jared's forbidden to tell Kim, cause Kim likes to gossip, she doesn't know exactly what he is but knows he's different. If she accidentally let slip our secret it could either go really badly for her, or all of us, or people will not know what to think," Sam said.
"What?" I asked, feeling a little confused.
"I'll call Carlisle first before we tell Bella." Uncle Billy got his phone and put it on speaker as the ringer sounded through. Dr Cullen answers on the second ring.
"Chief Black, is there a problem? You said you'd only call me if there ever was one!" He said.
"Yes and no, I wanted to consult you before revealing your secret to our newest pack member! She's human, and now married to our Alpha, which took place today. She's my godchild, who is also half Quileute, a new discovery, we also discovered today.
"I see… she is clearly family, and part of the pack, for you to inform her of your secrets, and she should be made aware of her surroundings. Is she from Fork's or La Push?" He asked Uncle Billy.
"She's lived in a few places, but now she'll reside in Forks, and won't be returning to Forks, only for picking up her things at Forks, high." Uncle Billy gave him a cryptic response back to his question.
"Is she anyone I would know?" He asks after a while.
"Isabella Swan is now more than likely a Lahote, and the wife of Samual Uley, Alpha of this generation's pack of La Push, Washington. She is the true Alpha's mate, and therefore a part of this world." Silence greeted his words.
"Oh dear…" he said, after a time, and Sam tensed.
"What do you mean oh dear, Cullen?" Sam growled.
"I do believe my daughter's gift has let her down for the first time if what you are saying is true, Chief Black."
"Why would I lie about this? I can send you a photograph of their marriage license, and the mark on her neck, if that is what it takes? Sam barely allows me near her, so don't even think about asking to see Bella yourself." Uncle Billy warns him.
"Photographic evidence will be good enough before I give you my final answer." He hung up the phone then, clearly waiting for the evidence of our coupling. We stare at the phone in silence for a time, until Uncle Billy walks around the table so he's opposite us and slides his mobile phone over to Sam, who glared at it before reluctantly leaning forwards to pick it up.
I lean back and reluctantly move my hair so he can take the photo, of our mating mark. I didn't like this at all, and I could tell Sam didn't either. He slid the phone back over to Billy after he checked the photo.
Jake came stomping through the kitchen as Billy's phone rang, but he paid no attention as he made a beeline for the fridge, scratching his ass through his shorts. He grabbed a Coke, turns around and freezes as he sees Sam and I at the kitchen table, then looks at his dad.
"Jake, I would keep your mouth shut if I was you," Billy advised him! "Go to your room, or spend the night at the Clearwaters, this is council business."
"Why does Bella get to stay?" He demanded.
"Because she's my wife you dumbass," Sam answered for him before anyone else could. Jake's reaction is rather amusing indeed, as he stares at us with a dropped jaw and wide eyes. His lips start moving but no sound comes out of it until Uncle Billy speaks.
"For just this once Jacob Emphram Black, please do as you are told, and not argue. Maybe one day you will understand, but I hope and pray that day never comes. I'm tempted to send you to live with your sister Rachel in Florida. Your behaviour lately, hasn't been the best!"
"The fuck?" Jake says completely bewildered and shocked by his dad's words.
"The forest has ears, Jacob, I've told you this." Jake doesn't actually respond and goes to his room, slamming the bedroom door.
"Carlisle said it is fine!" Sam moves his hands to my face and turns my head to face him,
"The Cullens are Vampires, baby."
