It had always served as the perfect analogy for her situation and had she been more poetically inclined, she would have been amused by how well it described everything. This is the sequel to "Milking It For All It's Worth," the one where Sherlock goes to the supermarket to pick up a bottle of milk, and ends up bringing home his very own John Watson. It is posted at AO3 as "The Sequel to the One Where Sherlock Goes to the Supermarket for a Bottle of Milk and Ends Up Taking Home a John Watson." They allow longer titles over there.

Five friends died of natural causes at almost the exact same time at Christmas and of course it's only a matter of time until Sherlock Holmes gets involved. However, by pursuing this cold case, he finds himself going against the most powerful man in Britain. A man who would sacrifice anything.

All of the physical pain was nothing compared to the screaming agony inside his heart as Sherlock observed the abandoned warehouse burning and slowly crumbling to pieces – together with the body of John Watson. John is dead.

John thinks Sherlock should get some sleep. Sherlock doesn't agree. John tries to persuade him but somehow it is Sherlock's agenda that ends up being carried out. As usual. (A 221B ficlet in tagless dialogue. As usual. Part 7 of the series for those who are counting.)
