Written for the One True Podcast 2013 Christmas Charity Drive. The prompt was "Sherlock/Molly - a science-y gift of the magi". I had a REALLY hard time with this prompt, so I can't imagine this is what you were hoping for, but it's all I could think of. I hope you still like it.

Sherlock mustered all the courage he could and hung up, dropping the mobile with a clatter on the roof, and he gazed into the horizon, no longer knowing how he should feel. Ficlet prompt given by a friend. Takes place shortly after Reichenbach. Sherlock stayed clean while in London, but fleeing the country after faking his own death and being forced to go into hiding has taken an unfortunate toll on his sanity. Sherlock must go to desperate lengths to drown out John's voice, and his own guilt gets the better of him. (Look up what 'bell ringer' means.)
