Sherlock and Watson are old men now, and together they remember the "good ol' days" as they deteriorate, accepting that they will never "live" again. The title is copied after Simon & Garfunkel's song, which inspired me to write this fic. Enjoy!

Lestrade allowed himself the time to take in the nice suit, the condescending expression, the umbrella the man was leaning on with practiced calm. Whoever he was, he seemed quite certain that he had chosen the right person to answer his question.

Doctor John Watson is devastated after the apparent death of his close friend. We join him while he testifies in a court hearing that is investigating Sherlock's suicide.

John showed him that life goes beyond the 1256 shades of grey that Sherlock has catalogued; now Sherlock has the whole world of colour to organise. And Sherlock wouldn't want it any other way.
