Prologue
The sun is shining brightly upon the waters of Lake Varykino, causing it to glitter like starlight. It's a beautiful summer day on the planet Naboo and the perfect weather to be outside for a walk. An attractive couple is taking advantage of such a day and is strolling casually across the stone terrace of an impressive lake retreat, constructed for use by the Naberries; a powerful political family who reside in Naboo's main city of Theed.
The woman is indeed a politician while the young man with her is a Jedi Padawan, representing the Order from Coruscant. He has been tasked by his Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to protect this lovely young Senator from those who wish her harm. However, there are other things on the Jedi's mind that he has made quite obvious to the lady with him. After stopping to both gaze out over the water, the young man nervously attempts to make small talk.
"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating. And it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything's soft and smooth..."
And then it happens. A gentle touch on her arm and she's immediately swept away to a time before Coruscant and senatorial duties, a time when the soil of Naboo is fresh under her feet and its mighty waterfalls a constant and comforting sound in her ears. It's difficult to believe ten years have passed since she's been kissed. For a moment, she is transported in time but a stark realization hits her. This kiss is different and the lips upon hers are strange and unfamiliar. This is wrong!
"No, I shouldn't have done that," she strongly declares after pulling away.
"Why not?"
The young Jedi's attraction is plain, but before he gets carried away and gets his hopes up, there's something she has to tell him.
"Because I'm married. Please, let me explain…"
