The Uchiha enlist the help of a shinobi monk regarding the Clan Heir problem.
"I was orphaned at a young age because of war, but the monks took me in. I was full of anger at first, but I learned through suffering. I gave up the worldly desires, and in such I have found peace," the youngest acolyte of the Fire Temple finished his lengthy story.
His companion, the young Uchiha Heir did not take the hint.
"Why don't you tell me about yourself?" Aishi asked with a patient smile. His teacher, Daiki, always had a way with people that made even the most fearsome individuals spill their heart to him.
"I am Madara, heir of the Uchiha clan," Madara replied curtly.
"You are the embodiment of the imbalance in the world," Aishi informed him. "The impure use of the chakra has made you a vessel of demons that rule you with their unbridled passions. You are in a cycle you cannot escape from unless you strive to change yourself and go closer towards the Ninshu."
"Should I give up ninjutsu and become a monk?" Madara asked sceptically. "That is impossible."
"So you would prefer to bring destruction to yourself and to your clan?" Aishi asked.
Madara's eyes flickered red. "I will not leave my clan. I will complete the pilgrimage, I will purify myself and I will even try the exorcism and the sealing, but that should be enough."
Aishi shook his head. "It is not something that can be resolved by Will, as admirable as yours is. You must empty yourself of hatred first."
Madara had a mocking smile. "I can never get away from hatred. Have you not heard that my clan is cursed with it?"
"This is precisely why you should instead dedicate your lives to get away from it," Aishi pointed out reasonably. Madara frowned. They continued walking under the pale light of the winter sun.
Aishi waited until the hour of the sheep to start teaching the ninja again. "The original use of chakra was to connect people and aid each other in times of need," he said. "We could know each other's thoughts even without speaking."
Madara's expression showed that he would prefer to be alone in his head. "I only need to know what the enemy will do. And for that, my sharingan is enough."
"You apply this to your ninja arts, but try to spread this knowledge so it becomes a benevolent all encompassing-"
He stopped as he saw Madara tune him out.
"You rely too much on your eyes," Aishi continued. "Let us do this exercise, touch my hand and I will tell you what you think."
"No," Madara said flatly.
"Then I shall refrain and you shall try to do it," Aishi replied, keeping his feelings calm and steady.
"You are annoyed with my lack of understanding of the governing principles of chakra usage and reluctance to try to give up my lifestyle to become a monk," Madara replied absently without touching him.
"That is a summary of our discussion," Aishi exploded. "What am I thinking about now?"
Madara's eyes flickered back to him. "Same thing."
"You are incorrect." Aishi replied triumphantly. The sun got into his eyes, blinding him for a second. Then Madara tsked. "You were just reciting some stupid poem you are apparently very proud of," he said dismissively.
"How- did you manage it?" Aishi asked.
"I used mine eyes," Madara replied, eyes spinning red.
Five days later, while watching Madara rake the pattern in the pebble garden, Aishi confessed to the Head Monk all his failings during the journey.
"I did not manage to convince him, and moreover, I gave a blessing to a bandit."
Daiki smiled. "What did the Uchiha say to that?"
Aishi grimaced. "He said he started to like me and wanted to learn. Of course he wanted to learn destruction."
Daiki chuckled. "I see you have enjoyed yourselves."
Aishi ducked his head in embarrassment. "He has been…nicer," he admitted.
"Have you ever seen him possessed?" Daiki asked thoughtfully.
Aishi shook his head. "Not for the whole three months long pilgrimage we have been together. I was informed they had been as frequent as one per week before we met."
Daiki hummed while fingering his prayer beads in consideration. "Has he been less stressed lately? Has he meditated, cleared his thoughts?"
Aishi nodded. "He has not fought any foe during this time either. I think he might be on the road to recovery if he keeps it up. After monk Taiki's exorcism, that did not show any results, it is great news."
"He still has a long way to go," Daiki observed.
Madara suddenly stiffened. The rake's handle splintered and broke into his hand. Aishi and Daiki jumped up in alarm, the older monk signalling for the younger boy to stay back. Madara turned jerkily towards them, eyes red, teeth clenched. A thin stream of blood flowed from the corner of his mouth.
Daiki and Aishi approached the boy cautiously. Madara looked down at his bleeding left hand and started screaming before his eyes rolled back, his body went limp and he fell unconscious on the carefully arranged pebble pattern before any of them could get to him.
It happened between one breath and the next. Just as the fireball sprang from his lips, his vision blurred momentarily as another pair of eyes opened over his own. Madara felt himself shoved from the center of his own head and crammed in a corner.
A new feminine voice shouted in surprise as she took in the new visual field. His chakra paths were overflowed for one second, making him feel as if he had been electrocuted while in water.
The possession had begun. His whole body tensed, as the new consciousness of the demon, was flailing around, wreaking havoc on his muscles. He reined it in with practice, trying to steer it towards the most natural movements, the most balanced ones. Fighting a possession head on never ended well. The only thing he could do was make it give him some control over his body in order to survive it.
For the first time, the consciousness shifted back and sensed him.
"Get out," Madara growled, spiking his chakra for good measure.
The akuryō only seemed fascinated. "Who are you?" It asked curiously.
"Uchiha Madara," he replied flatly.
"Madara?!" The demon asked in surprise. "As in the codfish?" It snickered. "Oh wait, you are Uchiha Madara," it said with glee. "You are a firebrat. Got it? A fire brat."
Madara saw himself bending over, laughing helplessly. "C'mon, that's a great pun," the akuryō continued petulantly when Madara showed no reaction.
"I fail to see its genius," Madara bristled. "Hold thy tongue, gaki." The demon's insults stung. He would have loved to give it form and rip it into pieces, or better yet, squash it. His sharingan activated at the thought.
"You couldn't find a better insult, brat?" It said gleefully. Madara remained silent. "Oooh," it commented in surprise as it finally realised. "That's a neat roast. Hehe, roast, get it? Because you-"
"Because I have a fire affinity, yes," Madara snapped.
"My, you are such a firecracker," it said with glee. There was a meaningful pause. Madara did not take the bait. The gaki sighed and started rummaging into his consciousness but soon grew either weak or bored and the presence petered to a diffuse feeling of foreign presence inside him. It was almost peaceful.
"Can you do a split?" It asked suddenly.
"A split?" Madara asked, aghast. "No, don't-"
His body moved without his accord as usual, a doll moved by invisible strings.
"You are a bit stiff," the evil spirit observed with what sounded like reproach. "Wait, you can use chakra, right?" The excitement spiked again, making Madara feel a sliver of fear. Usually they let him use the chakra how he wished to. "Let's walk on water!" The demon exclaimed enthusiastically.
The next hour was spent running downriver while the demon oohed, aahed and shrieked in joy, all the while providing pseudo witty commentary to the situation.
Madara was so overwhelmed, he was right among the Senju before realising it. He would have passed them by as well, thinking them an illusion conjured by his mind, if not for the fact that his trouser got caught in a fishhook.
The Senju stared at him, nonplussed. Madara started back. The demon snickered. "Lol, the fisherman caught a madara!"
"Oh, go fuck yourself sideways," Madara snapped at it inelegantly, using the vocabulary a previous possession had taught him.
The Senju attacked.
Notes:
Fire temple and such are canon (At least in anime.) What Hagoromo Otsutsuki taught is quite close to some Buddhist teachings. The names of the monks are taken from Buddhist monk names (yeah, I did serious research for this XD).
(as an aside, there are quite a few articles detailing the mix of Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, Confucian ideas from the show)
I figured I should show some base personality Madara as well. Also, the Uchiha took his problem seriously; I tried to show some things they might have tried.
Madara has of course many meanings. It is spot (pattern), 真鱈 (Madara) is Pacific cod- this is why the SI jokes that the Senju has caught a fish.
斑紙魚 (Madara shimi)Is firebrat . It's a hexapod (cockroach XD) . The pun is this time with English, as the SI calls Madara a fire brat.
akuryou= evil spirit
gaki means brat but the original Buddhist term means hungry ghost, some spirits that are tormented also by hunger and thirst. They represent beings who are driven by intense emotional needs in an animalistic way. Madara gives educated roasts XD
Next chapter will be about 100% less serious XD
