Hello guys, in which Percy, Carter and Sadie are awesome siblings, and at some point in the future Carter's gonna look back at his comments and say 'Huh. I brought this on myself didn't I?'
Replies:
Rage2091: Percy just lives to prove people wrong. And we love her for it.
Undeath9087: Percy is just like 'As the baby of the family until the new babies are born I have to make sure you live in constant chaos. It's my job. But like, good chaos, not bad chaos'.
Thickneck: I'm planning on the minific- though depending on how long it all turns out to be I may just do it in one fic, and technically it's more like two going on three years I guess since TLT happens a couple of months before Percy turns thirteen.
Jubby1905: We all love penguins.
Guest: Darn right you do.
Ryan Fowler: Percy is ridiculous and everyone loves her.
fugy: I mean, you are not wrong. At least they pay attention to the magicians and stuff and they help. Even if their help isn't always the best.
Posaitan: Thank you! And yeah, Percy still doesn't like portals but she can do it- and she does enjoy going bird mode these days.
Guest: I mean, she will be soon.
Guest: It does also mean that less people would make the connection between her and Poseidon because Poseidon kids usually have black hair and sea green eyes, they'd take one look at this strange girl and be like 'uh, who the fuck is she?'
batmanuchiha: Percy is just like: That asshole was in my head I want to fight him but also I am sorta terrified at the same time.
Guest: The gods are just generally better people I'd say, like, not all of them obviously but in general. And the Brooklyn House guys would just be like 'Wait, you're telling us that your gods basically raise child soldiers to go do things for them?' cause like, I love Camp, I do. But Brooklyn House is the superior home for any kids.

There was a long moment of nervous silence after Carter's question, before Felix spoke up. "What makes you think we're hiding anything?"

"Are you sat on a penguin?" that came from Sadie, "You four were supposed to be waiting for us-" and as if on cue Percy shifted slightly- she didn't mean to but it wasn't exactly comfortable being used as a chair, and Felix wasn't expecting it- so he slipped off her back, yelping loudly.

"PERCY!"

"I would say we can explain." Walt's voice was long suffering, "But I doubt we need to-"

"Hey!" Percy popped up, no point in hiding now that Felix had yelled her name- and both Carter and Sadie's eyes widened in shock at that.

"PERCY!" Carter yelled her name, in a very different tone than Felix had used. "What are you doing here?"

"How did you even get here?" Sadie added, "What were you thinking?"

"I was thinking that I've been bored out of my mind and I wanted to help you guys." Percy declared firmly, a stubborn look on her face.

"This is your amazing team?" that came from a man stood with Carter and Sadie. He was tall and stout, with a rugged, weathered face, feathery red hair, and hands as rough as bark. He looked about forty, but it's hard to tell with magicians.

He might have been four hundred. He wore a black suit with a bolo tie and a large silver Lone Star belt buckle, like a Wild West marshal."

"Plus one." Sadie's voice was slightly strained, "JD, meet our little sister, Percy Kane."

That made the mans eyes widen slightly. "The one who-"

"The very same." Percy gave a winning smile, ignoring the glares her brother and sister were aiming at her.

"She's not supposed to be here-"

"Well." Percy gave Carter an innocent look, "I heard a rumor you guys were gonna be here so of course I had to check it
out. I portalled out here and hey presto. Here I am. To help you."

"You-" Carter's lips twitched very slightly, "You're insane Percy."

"Just don't blame us." Walt snorted, "You know how your sister is."

"A force of nature?" Percy asked hopefully, which earned a snort from Sadie.

"I guess you could call a natural disaster that. Percy you should go h-"

"If you're about to tell me to go home I'm about to tell you where you can shove your wand." Percy met her siblings gaze. "I need this you guys. I can't just stay stuck inside forever. I'm fine. You have to let me prove it eventually and I want to help. I need to help." because it had been killing her, doing nothing, knowing that Apophis was rising slowly and she wasn't being allowed to help stop him. After what had happened- she needed to be involved in this.

And somehow she must have managed to get that across because Carter sighed heavily, "You stay with me." he ordered, holding out his hand- and Percy almost flew across the room towards him, grabbing his hand tightly and letting him yank her into his side, his arm moving so that it was draped over Percy's shoulder.

"Well-" JD was staring with wide eyes, "It's nice to meet you all. Come with me."

The museum's main foyer was a vast white room with empty café tables, a stage, and a ceiling high enough for a pet giraffe. On one side, stairs led up to a balcony with a row of offices. On the other side, glass walls looked out at the night time skyline of Dallas.

JD pointed up at the balcony, where two men in black linen robes were patrolling. "You see? Guards are everywhere."

The men had their staffs and wands ready. They glanced down at them, and Percy noticed their eyes were glowing. Hieroglyphs were painted on their cheekbones like war paint.

"What's up with their eyes?" that came from Alyssa, Percy turned her head slightly and saw that the girl was whispering
to Sadie.

"Surveillance magic." Sadie told her, "The symbols allow the guards to see into the Duat."

Alyssa bit her lip. Since her patron was the earth god Geb, she liked solid things, such as stone and clay. She didn't like heights or deep water. She definitely didn't like the idea of the Duat—the magical realm that coexisted with their own.

"Cool!" that came from Felix, and Percy glanced back at him, "I want glowing eyes."

He traced his finger across his cheeks, leaving shiny purple blobs in the shape of Antarctica.

Alyssa laughed. "Can you see into the Duat now?"

"No," he admitted. "But I can see my penguins much better."

"We should hurry," Carter reminded them. "Apophis usually strikes when the moon is at the top of its transit. Which is—"

"Agh!" Khufu held up all ten fingers.

"In ten minutes," Sadie grimace, "Just brilliant."

"Eh it'll be fine." Percy tried to sound light hearted, as if something in her chest hadn't just twisted painfully at the thought of having to deal with anything to do with Apophis again.

She'd be fine- she'd literally forced him out once, he probably wouldn't be eager to risk it again. Hopefully.

And when they approached the entrance of the King Tut exhibit Percy couldn't help but laugh, "Awe, if I knew this was where you were coming I'd have just waited inside-" and that made Carter twitch.

"You're a menace Percy Kane-"

"Hey!" Percy waved at the guards, who were still stood- and huh, she hadn't noticed the leopards on leashes when she'd rushed off before. And they both gave her dirty looks.

"How did you get complete access to the museum?" Carter directed the question to JD, who shrugged.

My wife, Anne, is president of the board. Now, which artifact did you want to see?"

"I studied your exhibit maps," Carter said. "Come on. I'll show you."

The leopards seemed quite interested in Felix's penguins, but the guards held them back and let us pass.

Percy looked around as they headed into the exhibit- she hadn't spent much time looking when she'd first arrived, after all her focus had been on finding the others, she hadn't known how much time she had- but she was willing to admit that it was a good exhibit, extensive, with sarcophagi, statues, furniture, bits of gold jewellery. There were Sabti, statues of
monsters and gods, most of which Percy had met.

Percy felt Carter squeezing her shoulder as they walked, and she shifted slightly, pressing into his side.

"Are you okay?" his voice was soft, "Percy if you get tired or-"

"Carter I will kick your stupid stinky butt." Percy murmured the words to try and avoid the others hearing them, "I can't- you can't just hide me away from the world forever 'cause of what happened-"

"Okay- okay so maybe we've been a touch too protective but it's only been a month Percy." Carter pointed out quietly,

"And... what happened was huge. Your first big trip outside of the First Nome should not have been here." he shook his head, "Especially not since Apophis has been attacking personally-"

"See, see that's all the more reason I should be here." Percy declared, a glint in her eyes, "I- I need to do this Carter I'm not scared of him I refuse to hide from him. I am the only person who has ever forced him back like that. I'm the only person he's ever-" she pulled a face, "Y'know." and Carter winced, because yes, yes he did know.

Apophis had never bothered with possession before, not until Percy had come along, the perfect chaotic mix of Greek and Egyptian, with the added perk of being a child of the most restless and chaotic of the three brothers- the one that least liked restraint.

It was obvious why he'd chosen her, even if none of them liked to accept that fact.

"Just- what if he tries it again."

"Then I'll force him out again." Percy shot back, "I know I can do it now. I won't- I refuse to let it happen again Carter I won't give him any space to get in. And I don't think he will anyway. Not yet. Not when I have everything to fight for because he's learned his lesson."

"I hope you're right." Carter pressed his lips to the top of Percy's head "Because if he gets you, he wins. And he knows that. He knows Sadie and I can't hurt you."

"Hmph." Percy gave him an annoyed look, "I know- you actually stopped Desjardins and like, I know it worked out for the best but I literally told him to-"

"Doesn't mean I have to like it."

Then they came to a stop outside of a room. The doorway was flanked by two giant obsidian sphinxes with the bodies of lions and the heads of rams. Percy's brows furrowed as she thought and then, "Criosphinx's right?"

"Yep." Carter ruffled her hair gently, "Dad would be proud." he glanced back, and Percy followed his gaze, noticing that Sadie and Walt were a little way behind, though they were very quickly catching up, and Sadie looked very unhappy about something, Percy had no clue what of course but she was looking around as if she was looking for something or someone, and Walt looked confused about something.

"Agh!" Khufu warned, holding up five fingers.

"Five minutes left," Carter translated.

"Give me a moment," JD said. "This room has the heaviest protective spells. I'll need to modify them to let you through."

"Uh-" that came from Sadie as she and Walt rejoined the group, "But the spells will still keep out enemies, like giant Chaos snakes, I hope?"

JD looked annoyed at that. "I do know a thing or two about protective magic," he promised. "Trust me." He raised his wand and began to chant.

Carter took that as a chance to pull Sadie aside, pulling Percy along with them, since there was no way he was going to let her go right now.

"Are you okay?" Carter's voice was soft, and Sadie hesitated.

"I- I'm fine. I just saw something weird back there. It was probably just one of Apophis's tricks." "He's good at those."

Percy muttered the words. "I-" she closed her eyes, "I don't think he's here yet though." and Carter and Sadie both
shifted at that.

"You- you'd know?" Carter's voice was very gentle, with just a hint of fear in it.

"I think so." Percy admitted quietly. "He was inside of my head you guys. I- there's bound to be some kind of connection after that. I saw some of his mind, he saw mine."

"You saw some of his mind?" Carter's brows furrowed, and Percy winced.

"It- yeah. Bits. It's hard- thinking about it, most of it's kinda fuzzy. I have to focus to remember much about what he was thinking-what I learned. It hurts my head."

"Then don't think about it." Sadie declared, grabbing Percy's hand and squeezing tightly before glancing around, her gaze focusing on Walt- who was stood staring at a golden throne in a glass case. "Listen you two can I-"

"Go." Percy pulled a face, "I can't believe you two are still being gross and dancing around one another." she mimed being sick, which made Sadie flick her ear.

"I don't care that you were in a five month long coma I can and will beat you up-"

"Hah, you wish." Percy shot back, "I kick your butt every time."

And with that Sadie darted off to join Walt, and Percy rolled her eyes. "At least you and Zia stopped being all gross and silly over it quickly."

"Uh huh." Carter let out a soft laugh as they moved back towards JD, "That's because Zia and I are the sensible ones."

"I best not ever be as silly as Sadie is when it comes to stuff like that when I'm grown up."

"You won't be." Carter laughed, "If only because I'll be beating back any boys with a stick. You hear me Percy Kane, you're not allowed to date any dumb guys until you're fifty, which I mean, by magician standards is still practically a baby so let's make it a hundred-"

"Carter!" Percy's face flushed bright red and she groaned, "You're the worst."

"Ahem." JD let out a little cough to get their attention again. "We can go inside now."

"Right." Carter's back straightened. "We're ready!"
