Okay so I think I did a good job at showing how effect of being possessed in this chapter- Percy's reaction to what her body is doing whilst she's desperately trying to regain control. And this is the reason why Percy would try and save Luke by the way- because if she found out that Kronos wanted to use Luke as a host, well given her experience, even with the shit he did she'd want to protect anyone from a fate like that after this.

Rage2091: Heheheheheh. I was literally sat there like 'Hah, can't say anything but yes, yes to that. Yes to her being his unwilling host'.
Undeath9087: Yes he does- and I mean, am I ever that kind? Percy is very very awake inside of her own mind, as this chapter shows, and she's very aware of everything that's going on.
Ryan Fowler: Heheheheheh. I love it.
Guest: I mean, anything I tell you would be spoilers. But I will say if Carter, Sadie or Desjardins tried to force him out it would probably kill Percy.
Unknownloser097: That about sums it up I think.
AlexusAP: I mean, you can relax, I've had this specific scene planned for ages so it's not your fault.
Batmanuchiha: HAHAHAHAHAH! You'll wanna kill me again this chapter.
Guest: You'll have to wait and see what will happen with the Greeks- and yeah, Apophis would have declared war on the Greeks too, and given the fact that they believed the Egyptian's to have faded a long time ago they'd have lost purely because they would have been taken by surprise and not had time to prepare for the attacks, also, because one V one Apophis takes all of the Olympians easy.
Guest: Why thank you, I really enjoyed these chapters- there's something about how Percy's fighting in her mind and her body is doing the opposite, the horror of it for her.

Percy was screaming in her mind as her arm brought the khopesh around- but a second before it hit him a hand caught her arm and Percy's head turned slowly as her gaze focused on the gaunt tired features of Desjardins- and inside Percy was sobbing with relief.

"Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you-"

"Oh, you." her voice said, "Well that's annoying. You can't really believe you can stop me."

"I made a promise to Percy Kane." Desjardins expression was almost pained- Percy felt her heart ache for him, but she was also insanely grateful to him. She would rather be dead than to let Apophis use her like a designer suit. "I will not break it now."

"How sweet- what will-" the Chief Lector spoke.

"Ha-wi!" and clearly Apophis hadn't believed that the man would actually harm Percy, because he wasn't prepared- and Percy was flung backwards from the force of the spell, out of the boat and into the water of the Duat- which instantly stilled around her and she rose out of it- and the action had drawn the attention of Sadie and Carter- when Percy's head turned she saw that they'd managed to get Menshikov down- into a glass coffin, and Sadie had clearly been turning, likely to take the scarab to Ra when they'd seen Desjardins attack her.

"PERCY!" Sadie was screaming her name, "Oh gods Percy-"

"Is she okay? Desjardins what the fuck have you done-"

"I think he's turned!" Percy's voice gasped out, "He attacked me I was protecting Ra and he attacked me!" her hand clutched at her stomach as if she was hurt.

"NO! NO DON'T LISTEN!"
Percy was screaming the words in her mind, "DON'T LISTEN TO ME! IT'S APOPHIS IT'S NOT ME!" But none of it left her lips.

"It is not what it seems." Desjardins spoke quickly, "Children you must-"

"He attacked me!" Percy's voice screamed the words, "He's working for Apophis he'll kill Ra!" and no, no no no. Apophis wanted Desjardins and her siblings to fight, he wanted them to take each other out.

And then Percy saw a look of hesitation crossing Carter's face and she followed his gaze to Ra- who was tucking himself behind Desjardins- and yes- yes yes yes! Figure it out! They had to figure it out!

"How dare you!" Sadie was snarling the words as she moved forward- even though she looked weak from the chaos magic all around them. "You hurt our sister I'll-" But Carter was surging forward, even as his avatar form was shrinking, weakening, and he grabbed Sadie's arm, yanking her backwards, a look of pure horror in his eyes.

"No- no-"

"Carter what are you doing let go of me!"

"That's not our sister."

"Run! Run in the name of the gods run you two! Grab Desjardins and Ra and run!"

"How could you say that Carter?" Percy's voice was hurt, her eyes were filling with tears that she didn't want to shed.

"Carter you're my big brother- y-you know me you gave me your handkerchief the day we first met."

"He's right." Desjardins called out. "I am sorry- I had to stop her- she was about to kill Ra."

And Percy could see Sadie's expression shifting from angry confusion to grief and fear.

"Menshikov did tell you." Percy's voice remarked, shifting from scared and pleading to amused, "I think I chose well don't you?" her hands rose-and the water beneath her rose upwards like a platform, so that she was higher than them, looking down on Carter, Sadie, Desjarins and Ra. "Oh I do like this body- so young yet so much power- a child of two worlds- yes she is a perfect fit for me."

"You're sick." Sadie's voice cracked as she shook her head, "You're sick you're insane-"

"Now now-" Percy's lips smirked despite the fact that all she wanted was to scream until she couldn't make another sound. "I can be merciful- do as I told you before and I will spare you both. The old men must die but you two can live and serve me, serve and protect her. Would you not like that? Just give me the scarab."

"Never." Sadie's voice cracked, "I'd rather die."

"Well that is a shame." Percy snapped her fingers and the glass grave of Menshikov blew up- as did Menshikov, after all, Apophis had no need for him now.

The blast was more powerful than anything Percy had ever seen, she watched as a high-powered wave of sand and glass shards hit Carter, Sadie, sending them flying backwards from the force of it, before the sand and glass enveloped them, beneath her, it even hit the sun boat, sending it rocking violently, throwing Ra and Desjardin's off their feet.

Percy was screaming again, screaming uselessly in her mind. Nothing she was doing was her, her body was moving against her will.

"Calm down my little host-"
the voice hissing in her mind was deep, powerful, "You cannot fight me. I am Apophis. I am Chaos itself, my power is unrivalled, you should think yourself lucky that I chose you."

"Let me go! Get out of me please get out!" Percy was begging frantically, desperately trying to seize control of her body again, but it was useless. Apophis was one of, if not the, most powerful powerful beings in existence and he was inside of her body, what chance did she have against that?

As the sand and glass settled around them Percy's head tilted and the pillar of water lowered her, she could see Carter, led in the sand, covered in blood, his body still- nononono. Percy couldn't contemplate that, couldn't let herself think about that.

And as Percy's head turned to scan the piles of sand that littered the shore, she realised that she couldn't see Sadie so- she must have been buried- Percy felt sick, she wanted to scream and throw up. She'd never felt so helpless before in her entire life.

"Where did you go, Sadie Kane?" her voice was singsong, "Where's the bad little girl with my scarab? Don't you want to help your baby sister. How cruel of you- but then you're good at that aren't you." her voice was mocking, with a razor edge- and as terrified as Percy was she hoped that Sadie couldn't hear what the voice was saying, "Always so mean to poor little Percy, jealous, blaming her. Do you think being kind now makes everything better? I'm in her head. She doubts you-"

"LIAR!"

"She thinks you still hate her, thinks you blame her, prove that you don't, prove you love her. Give me the scarab."

"I'll kill you! I'll kill you how dare you try and hurt her!"

"You can do nothing." If Percy had control of her body she'd have staggered back at the force of those words. "Your body is mine now. Your power is mine, your thoughts are mine!"

Nothing moved- Percy wasn't sure if she was relieved or worried about that. "Never mind." Percy's voice spoke eventually. "It doesn't matter. I'll dig your body up later. First, I'll deal with the old man."

Percy felt her body turning towards the sun boat- Desjardins was still, slumped against the railings of it, Percy's heart clenched but she couldn't stop, couldn't check to see if he was alive, her head was already turning to focus on the throne of fire- where Ra was hiding, she couldn't quite see him but Percy knew.

"Hello Ra." her voice was light, friendly, despite the fact that Percy knew that was the opposite of how the snake controlling her felt, "It's been a long time."

A feeble voice from behind the chair said, "Can't play. Go away."

"Would you like a treat?" Apophis asked. "We used to play so nicely together. Every night, trying to kill each other. Don't you remember?"

Ra poked his bald head above the throne. "Treat?"

"NO YOU IDIOT RUN!"

"How about a stuffed date?" Percy's voice offered, and she plucked one out of the air, and she could feel the chaos magic, feel Apophis' power- she'd never felt anything like it. It was suffocating. "You used to love stuffed dates, didn't you? All you have to do is come out and let me devour- I mean, entertain you."

"Want a cookie." Ra said, poking his head out further.

"Of course," Percy's hand plucked something out of thin air- and her eyes focused on it and she blinked rapidly, and it was her blinking. The cookie was blue. Percy's hand moved- and it was her moving it and she shoved it into her mouth, the taste was just like her moms, it filled her with warmth, she swallowed the bite she'd just taken, dropped the cookie- she knew she didn't have long, "DESJARDINS! CARTER! SADIE SOMEONE HELP ME! KILL ME!" and Desjardin's stirred, lifting his head and staggering to his feet as Ra let out a panicked noise and scrambled backwards- then the Chief Lector slammed into her, smashing her against the burning throne just as Apophis managed to seize back control.

But even if Percy wasn't in control of her own body she could still feel it- and the scream the emerged from her mouth wasn't just Apophis' but hers too as the heat seared her skin, the flames licking at her skin, at her clothing.

Percy's hands gripped Desjardins arms, and his gripped her arms in return as they grappled.

It was an even battle- somehow, Desjardins tried to drove her away from the throne, and Apophis, controlling Percy's body tried to push Desjardins into it, even as Percy screamed in her mind, desperately trying to urge Dejardins on.

And out of the corner of her eye Percy could see Carter moving- and she sobbed with relief inside as he moved, clearly searching for Sadie- good, good they needed to know if she was alive too. Gods the fact that Carter alone was alive was amazing.

But Percy's focus was quickly dragged back to the fight as her voice screamed, Desjardins was summoning words of power, clouds of hieroglyphs surrounding her- but Percy could feel Apophis' power, could see the red light swirling around them, dissolving the spells with the pure power of Chaos.

Ra had fled to the stern of the boat to get away from the fighting duo- he was cowering under the tiller.

And all the while Percy fought to seize control from Apophis- seeing Carter alive filled her with a new sense of strength and purpose, and she remembered Ptah's words to her.

She understood them now.

Strength. Defiance. Perseverance.

She had to stay strong, have to persevere, had to keep fighting every second, keep defying him no matter what else happened. She could do it, she had no choice.

And Percy had never done anything so hard- it was exhausting, fighting back.

"I won't let you win I won't I'll never stop fighting."

"Your courage does you credit girl but you bring yourself nothing but pain! Give in, stop this fight!"

"No. No never I won't I won't let you win." The only way she'd stop fighting would be if she died, if her will broke because she couldn't just let him destroy the world, take her family from her

"You will give into me Persephone Kane. With you I will combine two worlds, I shall devour Ra and the rest of those fools and I shall destroy any who would attempt to stand against me- you are a bridge between the two worlds, you are mine."

"I am not! I'm my own person. I'm a Kane I won't give up not ever!" she didn't feel the heat of the single tear dripping down her cheek.

But she did feel it when Desjardins yelled, taking advantage of Apophis' momentary distraction "Heh-sieh!" and she was yanked backwards by an invisible force, flying high over Carter and Sadie's heads and landing in the sand, maybe forty feet away from them.

Percy blinked rapidly- she could feel Apophis' shock, and she desperately fought for control- and it was painful- her whole body was agony as it was but it was a deeper pain, like her soul was being compressed, crushed by the force of Apophis' power.

She couldn't move- but- Apophis' focus was on her, which meant he wasn't moving either.

Gods but she hoped that Carter and Sadie would take Ra and run.

But even as she had that thought she knew it would never happen- after all, she'd never leave Carter or Sadie alone if she were in their place.
