Chapter 15: Marx's Big Decision

(At another part of the Jambastion Fortress)

Kirby, Ash, Sonic, Eggman, Giovanni, Daroach, Magolor, Taranza, and Ho-Oh were rushing back the way they came as the Jambastion was crumbling apart. Luckily, they saw Mario and the rest of the Super Mario Brothers' Team, Bowser's Team, and the Dream Friends before long.

Kirby- Mario!

Mario- Kirby, what's going on?!

Luigi- Why is this fortress rumbling like an earthquake?!

Sonic- The final Mage Sister caused this place to destroy itself!

Marx- What?!

Ash- No time to explain! We need to get back to the airships outside before this fortress destroys itself with us along with it!

At first, most of the other Dream Friends panicked a bit, but Mario and Kirby did their best to calm them down. However, Marx was getting nervous for several reasons.

Marx (thinks)- Damn it! This means I have to get Mario to the west wing now! But…this God of the Void could still…what am I thinking?! Kirby is my enemy! He killed me when he stopped my plan to have Nova grant my wish! But he also helped me when I was hurt. You agreed to serve Tabuu in exchange for him to bring you back to life! But he is also cruel to everyone and treats us like we're nothing! You know the consequences for disobeying his orders! But…I can't just leave after all that's happened. GHAWW! What do I do?!

Kirby- Marx…you feeling ok?

Then Marx noticed Kirby and Ribbon were staring at him while he was holding his head with his wings and swinging his head around like crazy.

Marx- Uh…just…trying to deal with the stress of our…situation…

Kirby- Well right now, we need to get out or we'll be destroyed along with this fortress. Come on!

As Kirby and the rest were running down the hallway to try and find the way out in time, Ribbon approached Marx.

Ribbon- Marx…I know this is a rough moment for you…but promise me you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

Marx- Hey! What do you mean by that?

Ribbon didn't answer and just flew ahead to try and catch up with Kirby and the others. Marx eventually ran after them.

(At the west wing of the Jambastion Fortress)

Fawful and Infinite were standing next to the generator room and were impatiently waiting.

Infinite- What's taking that little imp so long?! All he was supposed to do is lure Mario to this room!

Fawful- You don't think Marx betray Master Tabuu?

Infinite- He better not if he knows what's good for him. And he had better hurry, because his time is almost up.

Then they notice the fortress was falling apart.

Infinite- What's going on?!

Fawful- Big metal building falling apart! Will be destroyed eventually!

Infinite- Shit! Marx, you rotten…we'll have to escape before…

Then Fawful interrupts Infinite and turns Infinite's head towards the hallway.

Fawful- Look! Mario's coming this way!

Infinite- You're right! Alright…let's see if we can get them over here…

Then Infinite used the Phantom Ruby to make it appear that the other hallway paths were blocked off by fallen debris…except for one.

Luigi- The way is blocked off!

Ash- Ho-Oh, can you clear a way through?

Ho-Oh- Not without tiring me out completely. And I think you'll need me in top condition for later.

Yoshi- Yoshi think he see path not caved in!

Then they see Yoshi was pointing towards the way to the generator room where Fawful and Infinite's trap is placed. Marx seemed to realize this as his eyes widened.

Link- Not like we have a choice. Let's hope it leads to the way out.

Then everyone began moving toward the generator room on the west wing. Little did they know, Fawful and Infinite were using the Phantom Ruby to keep themselves invisible as they hid in the room, ready to activate the transporter to send them to Subspace. Mario rushed into the room and onto the transporter.

Fawful- Perfect! Now we finally be rid of Mario! I have fury!

Fawful pushed the button and the transporter began to lit up. But just as Mario was about to realize he was standing on a trap, Marx flew in and tackled Mario off of the transporter.

Infinite- What the?! Marx, what the hell are you doing?!

Then a barrier appeared around Marx and trapped him inside of it. However, the machine completely shut down as it was about to try and send Marx to Subspace.

Fawful- What happened?! Transporter stopped working?

Then Fawful and Infinite saw that a wire on the transporter was cut, rendering it useless.

Infinite- Someone cut the line…

Fawful- Must be ****ing traitor!

Marx- Wasn't me who cut it…but I was trying to stop you from imprisoning them in Subspace.

Infinite- Marx…you disappoint us. Tabuu took you in when you were killed by Kirby. He made you better than ever and gave you your chance to get revenge for Kirby ruining your scheme. And this is how you repay him?

Fawful- Marx was warned that betraying Master Tabuu has price to pay! And now Marx traitor must pay!

Then a giant mechanical mouth with teeth appeared from Fawful's headgear as he launched it at Marx. Marx closed his eyes and turned his head…waiting for the end. However…Marx just heard the sound of metal clashing in front of him. When Marx opened his eyes, he saw Mario had blocked mouth from Fawful's headgear with Marco's sword.

Mario- It's ok, Marx. I've got your back.

Marx- Huh…but…why…?

Then Kirby appeared next to Marx and offered to help him stand back up.

Kirby- Because…that's what friends do.

Marx- Friend…even after all I've done?

Ribbon- I think what you've just done has just revealed who you really are. A friend.

Kirby- And friends help each other.

Marx began to cry a bit as he was overcome with a joy he never felt before. Then Mario knocked the mouth of Fawful's headgear back as Fawful and Infinite and knocked them to the ground. But before they could get up, Marx flew up to them and split himself in half to create a blackhole that sucked them up. Marx put himself back together again, but it was clear that Fawful and Infinite were crammed in Marx's mouth.

Marx- I have a message I'd like you to give to Tabuu. Tell him…I…QUIT!

Then Marx spat out a laser from his mouth with Fawful and Infinite still riding the energy blast. The laser shot through the window and exploded in deep space. After it exploded, a firework image of Fawful and Infinite in pain appeared for a brief moment.

Sonic- Uh…guys…this place is still falling apart!

But then a large space craft appeared near the window. And on it was a very familiar face to Mario and Luigi.

Rosalina- Hello again, Mario Brothers.

Luigi- Rosalina?

They look and see the Comet Observatory outside the Jambastion Fortress.

Rosalina- I'll tell you why I'm here later. Right now, you all need to jump on the Comet Observatory before it's too late!

Then Mario and the rest jump out the window and safely land on the Comet Observatory before the Jambastion Fortress exploded.

Rosalina- Are you all alright?

Shantae- I think so.

Magolor- But what about our airships? The Lor Starcutter was…

Adeleine- I don't think you need to worry about that.

Then Magolor looks towards Adeleine was pointing and saw the Shooting Star, Lor Starcutter, and Bowser's Doomship being towed by the Comet Observatory.

Mario- It's great to see you again, Rosalina, but how did you know we were in danger?

Rosalina- Kyrin informed me.

Mario- And what would we do without him…

Boss Cass- So, is it finally over now?

King DeDeDe- The fortress was destroyed and it must've destroyed the leader of that cult too.

Rosalina- Afraid not.

Then one single structure from the fortress emerged from the ruins of the Jambastion Fortress and flew across the galaxy.

Meta Knight- What is that?

Susie- That must be the Divine Terminus. That was here Void's heart was placed after Kimberly imprisoned it.

Bowser- Then that must be where we'll find the asshole responsible for all this trouble! I say we take the fight to him right here and now!

Mario- Rosalina, do you think you can get us to the Divine Terminus?

Rosalina- I'll take you as far as I can without endangering my Lumas. We should be able to reach it in an hour.

Mario- Ok, we all have an hour before we get there. Make sure that you're all prepared when the time comes. Understood?

Everyone nods their heads. Meanwhile, Marx looks over to what is left of the Jambastion Fortress.

Marx- Hey…Jayx…if you can hear this…I just want to say…thank you for helping me find my way when I was lost without even realizing it.

As the Comet Observatory was flying away, a faint laughter could be heard. It sounded very similar to the laugh Marx makes in Kirby Super Star, but the source of the laugh was nowhere to be seen.
