Chapter 19: Rise Oh Dark Lord

(Outside the Divine Terminus)

Everyone was still fighting the Jambastion army outside the Divine Terminus and it looked like neither side was ready to give in. But then the entire place was beginning to shake like crazy.

Sonic- What the hell is happening?!

Then Link heard a warning sound coming from the Master Sword.

Link- I don't know, but apparently, it's frightening the Master Sword! We need to fall back, now!

Ty- But what about Mario?

Marx- And Kirby?

King K. Rool- Not to mention Bowser and DeDeDe?

Before Link or anyone could say anything, the Divine Terminus split itself down the middle and was beginning to fall apart as this large glowing black spear of dark energy emerged from the opening. The ground was starting to crumble beneath them and it wasn't long before the entire place would be destroyed. As much as they didn't want to leave Mario, Kirby, Bowser, and King DeDeDe behind, everyone quickly got on the Shooting Star, Lor Starcutter, and Bowser's Doomship and took off before the Divine Terminus was completely destroyed. But then Sonic saw something shiny flying out of the debris.

Sonic- Is that…hey everyone! They made it!

Then everyone saw Kirby, Mario, Bowser, and DeDeDe riding a new upgraded version of the Warp Star called the Star Allies Sparkler. Kirby was placed inside the Star Allies Sparkler like he was piloting it from inside of it while Mario, DeDeDe, and Bowser were riding on the back of it.

Marx- Kirby…

Shantae- Thank goodness, they're alright!

Pit- But what is that?!

Pit points to the dark energy forming above where the Divine Terminus used to be. Then Link notices the Master Sword still making that alarming sound.

Link- That must be what the Master Sword was sensing earlier.

Medusa- Oh shit…I remember that now…that…is him…

Eventually, this blob of dark energy formed into a dark cloud. And within that dark cloud, the dark energy began to take a physical form. Kirby flew the Star Allies Sparkler closer as he began to realize what was really happening. After a few moments, a large titian emerged from the cloud. It was at least fifty feet tall, huge muscles around his body, ancient writing around his belly for some reason, and a white heart-shaped mask covering his face.

Kirby- So this is him…the God of the Void and Kimberly's father…Void Termina…

Then in a split second, Void Termina's eye lit up from underneath his mask and he instantly turned his gaze at Kirby with such incredible speed.

Void Termina- So…you are the Star Warrior Kirby I've heard so much about? It's nice to finally meet you in person.

Void Termina began moving closer to the Star Allies Sparkler. Kirby gulped in fear while Mario drew Marco's sword, Bowser readied his fire breath, and DeDeDe drew his mallet.

Void Termina- There is no need to worry. I don't wish to fight you.

Kirby- You…you don't…

Void Termina- I simply wish to make you an offer, my child.

Kirby- Your child? You're not my…

Void Termina- I know. Kimberly was my only child. But I know family when I see one. It's obvious that you and Kimberly are related. Just as much as that man is related to Marco Mario. And I can tell even without Marco's sword that him and Marco are kin.

Then Void Termina extends his hand out to Kirby, seemingly welcoming.

Void Termina- I ask you this, Kirby. Come with me, please. We can rebuild the family I thought I lost. My family reunited at long last. No one would ever hurt you again and you'll never be lonely. Anything you want will be yours instantly. Just come with me and agree to never leave my side.

Kirby felt tempted by Void's offer, but he snapped into reality when he heard Mario speak.

Mario- Tell me this…what will you do now that you're free from your prison?

Void Termina- I intend to rebuild Halcandra…but not before ensuring that no one will ever take my family away from me again! It is clear darkness and evil intentions lurks inside you all! Sure, I lost control of this power to alter the souls of over living beings and was exiled for it, but my intentions were to prevent another incident like with what happened to Lady Lisa, Lord Arkness' wife! She was murdered for one of the most ridicules of reasons! But I've learned to control it better over the years. I even made Marco and Slicor's team behave like perfectly obedient soldiers. And the other inhabitances of all the other planets must be put in their place so I will not lose my family again. I ask once more, Kirby. Come with me, please. Don't break my heart…just like Kimberly did!

(Flashback to a scene from Perfect Tabuu)

Kimberly- Kirby…before I go back to the Overthere…can I ask a favor?

Kirby- What?

Kimberly- You see…there was…someone…a part of the family…who lost his way to darkness…I tried to help him, but…(sigh)…if you ever cross paths with him…will you please help him find his way back to the right path?

Kirby- And who is this person you speak of?

Kimberly- Trust me…when you see him…you'll know…

(End of flashback and back to the situation at hand)

Kirby- So this is what you meant, Kimberly! Don't worry, because I understand everything now. I know what to do.

Void Termina- Well?! What is your answer?

Kirby- I do agree that what happened to you was wrong. All you wanted was to be reunited with your family after believing they were taken away from you. It is a sad story and I sympathize with you…however…I cannot allow you to strip everyone in the universe of their free will!

Void Termina- What?!

Kirby- You started with good intentions, I can tell…but you've lost your way in your anger towards those who took Kimberly from you and the grief that you might never see her again. So much so, that you began to act like those ones you despised.

Void Termina- So…even after I was kind enough to make a generous offer, you would betray me? Just like Kimberly did?

Kirby- Truth is, I made a promise to Kimberly. She asked me to help someone she cared about find his way back to the right path. She might've sealed you away in the Jamba Heart, but she still cared about you. Her father. And clearly, imprisoning you in the Jamba Heart was just as painful to her as it was to you. And I will keep my promise to her and help you find the right path!

Void Termina- All nonsense! But if you won't come willingly, I'll just have to take you by force like I did with Kimberly!

Void reached out to grab Kirby, but Mario swiped at Void's hand with Marco's sword and made him cringe away from the Star Allies Sparkler.

Mario- You're not alone, Kirby. Like how Marco had Kimberly's back, I've got yours!

Kirby- Thanks, Mario!

King DeDeDe- Not like we have a choice since we'll die if we do nothing, but we're not letting you corrupt us again!

Bowser- I am the Koopa King and anyone who defiles me will have every bone in their body broken!

Then Kirby heard everyone on the Shooting Star, Lor Starcutter, Bowser's Doomship, and the Comet Observatory cheering his name. Even Marx. For some reason, Marx's cheer seemed the loudest to him. And this filled Kirby with the strength to keep fighting.

Kirby- Thank you…everyone! Alright Kimberly, it's time to finally set your father free from the darkness that infests his heart once and for all!

Palutena (telepathically to Mario)- One more thing, Mario. Kyrin sent you something…

Then a white star powerup item fell from the sky and hit Mario, transforming him into God Mario (a powerup the author made up).

God Mario- The same powerup Marco and I used to defeat Tabuu? A little overkill, don't you think?

Kirby- Actually, I'd say it was just what we needed. And now, let's show Void Termina the power of true friendship!
