Welcome back everyone. (THIS CHAPTER WILL CONTAIN MINOR SPOILERS. FROM THE MANGA.) Thank you for all the traction that the story has been getting recently. I seem to mess up with my proof reading so it would be great if one of you guys could beta read for me. It would definitely be a huge help not only for me but for everyone else who's reading. I haven't seen any more reviews on ships so Lei x Ariel and Rudy x Sylphy x Eris x Roxy are locked in. Since this chapter is pretty much prioritizing Rudy's romance, and setting up Lei's, there is no going back. The poll is up on my account on whether I should add Rhitta or not. Please put in your answers. If there are no votes or it's a tie, I'm going to add it. I made the last chapter around 11k words. This chapter will be around the same length since I promised you guys I would.
A/N: Lei is gradually going to build Escanor's personality as he grows older and stronger. So much so to the point where the kind, loving and secondary character kid we've all grown to love will be gone. You'll see some of that in this chapter.
A/N: Rudeus is also pretty confident which will change his interactions with Eris and Sylphy. With that out of the way, Let's hop in!

Chapter 4: A New Job and Some New Friends
About an hour later
As I woke up, I heard the sound of chatter and slight rumbling. Upon opening my eyes I realized we were still in the cart. My mothers hand was still caressing my head. It was soothing so I decided not to sit up. I looked over towards where Rudy was sitting only to find him looking completely worn out. My thoughts were put to a halt when I heard Eris.
"EH? Why do we have to wait until we're home before you can start teaching me magic? I can easily manage the beginner level stuff so start teaching me now." She practically demanded.
Rudy started holding his head in his arms. Sylpy noticed this and tried to speak up for Rudy.
"U-um L-Lady E-Eris?" Sylphy started and Eris quickly jumped back in.
"Speak clearly, stop with that stuttering." Eris ordered.
She was our boss now, not much we could do.
"P-Please leave R-Rudy alone until w-we get back to your h-home. He looks exhausted. If y-you w-want, I can start explaining the basics of magic theory to y-you." Sylphy stammered.
Sylphy seems to be completely afraid of Eris. Poor girl. However she fights on for Rudy's sake. Gotta admit my brother is one lucky guy.
Eris seemed to be thinking for a bit before sitting down next to Sylphy and crossing her arms.
"Well, start the lesson." Eris demanded.
Sylphy looked taken aback before smiling and starting her explanation.
After about 10 minutes of Sylphy's explanation, Eris was bored.
"This is so boring! Skip this and go to the part with magic." Eris proclaimed.
"This is magic." Sylphy announced with a little annoyance.
Eris looked at her and stood up while increasing her posture and crossing her arms again.
"Are you talking back to someone older than you, and your boss no less?" Eris questioned
Sylphy looked at her before looking at the ground and answering
"No, I'm sorry."
"That's enough, Eris, treat everyone here with respect." Ghislaine said from our side of the cart, never once taking her hand off my head.
Eris hesitantly nodded before sitting back down. If I've learned anything from the short time I've known Eris it's that she really respects my mother. So much so that her respect even transfers a little over to me as she doesn't want to mistreat me and anger my mother who cares for me so much.
"Mother?" I started, causing my mom to look down at me with the same motherly smile I've grown to love. "I-I want you to train me how to incorporate beast-like movements into my swordsmanship.
Ghislaine looked surprised for a moment before returning to her natural smile.
"Of course dear. If it's what my little kitten wants then I'll gladly do it." Ghislaine answered.
I smiled before closing my eyes again. Although that didn't last long as my mother wasn't through with me yet.
"What level have you reached with the sword?" She asked.
I internally smirked in my mind before continuing.
"Sword saint in all three styles." I announced quite innocently although internally I was flexing.
My mother was more shocked than I've ever seen her. As I looked over at Eris I saw newfound respect for me in her eyes. Sylphy just smiled since she already knew and Rudy had long since fallen asleep.
"You've grown a lot since I last saw you kitten. I'm very proud." My mother declared.
I was getting kind of annoyed of the kitten business. It embarrassed me. However I set aside my annoyance for the sake of my mother.
"A sword saint and you're younger than me?" Eris questioned with bright stars in her eyes.
I nodded before finally sitting up. My mother let me but looked a little saddened. So I slid closer to her until I was leaning on her arm. This got a warm smile out of her.

Roa
After about another hour we had finally arrived in the town of Roa. Where the Boreas Greyrat family resided. Upon arriving at the estate, Eris hopped out with Ghislaine in tow. She dragged her all the way inside as we followed closely behind them. As we entered we were greeted by a huge amount of beast women in maid outfits. Looking over at Rudy he was sporting a look between perversion, excitement, and envy. I looked at all of them with different eyes. If I was correct, which I usually was, these people weren't here by their own free will. No they were slaves bought by the family. I decided I'd treat these maids with the utmost respect as I worked here and also help them out whenever I could.
We continued walking until we reached a pretty big double door. This room looked important. We entered to see a brown haired man with closed eyes and a smile, sitting next to him on his left was a beautiful red haired woman with red eyes, and a well endowed chest.. She pretty much just looked like a grown up Eris. On the brown haired man's right was a man with grayish brownish hair and red eyes with a look of power washed over his face. He also had a pretty respectable mustache.
"Mother, Father, Grandfather!" Eris hurriedly exclaimed before jumping into her mothers arms.
"It's good to see you have returned safely my dear." Eris' mother said with a tear rolling down her cheek.
"Thank you Ghislaine for ensuring my baby's safety." she added.
"It's an honor, Lady Hilda." My mother answered.
The trio sitting down then looked over at us three kids who were just standing there.
"Hmmm so you are the children Paul sent? I had heard it would just be two boys though." The brown haired man assessed.
We had no idea how to great nobles so we did what we were accustomed to. We bowed.
"Greetings my lord. I am Rudeus Greyrat, son of Paul Greyrat.
I followed suit.
"Good Afternoon my lords and lady. I am Leighton Greyrat, son of Paul Greyrat and Ghislaine Dedoldia, it's an honor to meet you all."
"So your Ghislaine's son huh? I have been waiting to see the Sword King Ghislaine's legacy. I'm sure even if you are quite young now you surely will mold into a very powerful swordsman for our family." The brown haired man said with enthusiasm.
Sylphy ran behind Rudeus before greeting the three.
"U-um t-thank y-you for a-allowing m-me t-the honor of m-meeting you. I am Sylphiette, the daughter of Laws."
After our greetings there was a moment of silence before Rudy spoke up again.
"Sylphiette is here because I had told my father I wanted a job for the three of us, however he wished to split us up. After a battle with my father which I won, he had no choice but to allow Sylphiette to come as well." Rudy explained.
The brown haired man smiled at this before saying "That is fine. I do not mind having another body guard, however she is a kid like the both of you. Does she have any worthy credentials?"
"She is a king class mage like myself, she also can use wordless incantations like myself and Leighton." Rudy finished.
"King class magic and you said wordless incantations!?" The brown haired man questioned.
Everyone in the room seemed shocked. Not only were there 3 kids around the age of 7 and a half standing before them, but also they all used wordless incantations and king class magic with the exception of Lei.
"So both Sylphiette and Rudeus can use King class magic and wordless incantations, what about you Leighton?"
Everyone looked at me which didn't really affect me except for the older man sitting next to his son.
"I am a Sword Saint in all three styles. I am also a saint class mage with wordless incantations. Less impressive about myself I can use wordless incantations on beginner level healing magic as well although Rudy and Sylphy can use it on the intermediate level."
My mother and Eris looked even more surprised, but their surprised faces didn't compare to Lady Hilda's and the brown haired man who had been questioning us.
"Father, do you have any objections to their hiring?"
Everyone turned to the older man who was looking all of us up and down.
"Do as you like Phillip. I have business to attend to." He said before standing up. He then turned around and looked directly at me before asking "Boy, what is your dream.?" The look in his eyes demanded an answer, however they told me if I gave the wrong answer I'd probably be kicked out.
"My dream is to become the strongest swordsman in the world alongside my brother Rudy who plans on becoming the strongest mage. Together we will both become the strongest duo this world will ever see, past present or future!" I declared.
The older man stared at me for what felt like minutes before giving a slight smirk and saying
"A fine dream. ERIS! YOU DO WELL TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT LEFT BEHIND YOU HERE ME!?" To say he shouted that would be an understatement. The whole mansion shook with his words.
Eris looked at the man before nodding enthusiastically. "I will not be left behind grandfather." she answered.
He nodded then walked out.
After he left the room fell into a more calm silence. The previous tension had left. I knew with our amazing credentials there's no way we weren't gonna get hired by this family. All things aside, Rudy and Sylphy are among the very few who can even cast king class magic, and I'm probably one of the only people in the world who is sword saint and saint class mage. Passing up on such valuable pieces would be stupid.
"Alright then. Since my father has already accepted you all, I look forward to seeing what you are all capable of under the Boreas family. The brown haired man declared.
All of us smiled before bowing again and thanking him.
"My name is Phillip Boreas Greyrat, although please just call me Lord Phillip. This is my wife Hilda Boreas Greyrat. The other man who was here is my father. His name is Sauros Boreas Greyrat. Do well to remember our names." The brown haired man now known as Lord Phillip ordered.
"Yes Lord Phillip." Sylphy, Rudy and I said in unison.
"Hmm good, then Ghislaine showed them their rooms. After that take them to the courtyard. I'm sure my father will want to see them demonstrate their skills, as do I."
"Yes Lord Phillip." My mother answered.
Ghislaine led us all to separate rooms where we put down our belongings. We all hadn't brought much. Sylphy brought some clothes and what looked like a necklace along with a few toys she's had since childhood. Rudy brought the sword Paul gave him as well as a small wooden box. I don't know what it contains but he always tries to hide it from me. I never cared enough to look inside. I assumed it's probably something from his past life. He also brought a few changes of clothes and a figurine of Sylphy and Roxy. I brought the sword Paul gave me, the hair tie that Lilia gave me which I now wear as a bracelet, the figurine Rudy gave me and the book on healing magic that Zenith gave me. I didn't bring any clothes because I knew my mother would probably spoil me anyways.
Our rooms were actually pretty far apart. I'm assuming it's because in case of an attack in the night we would need to be by different members of the families sides. I was put next to Lord Sauros' room. Sylphy was put by Lady Hilda and Lord Phillip's room. Rudy was put next to Eris. Even though he wasn't a bodyguard he would serve that role and protect Eris. Mother and I actually shared a room, which I didn't mind personally. She was warm and cozy so I'm sure I would enjoy these arrangements.
After placing everything in our rooms we followed Mother to the courtyard.
"So what do you think they're gonna have us do?" Rudy questioned us.
"I couldn't tell you." My mother answered.
"I bet they're gonna have us fight one another." I gave my opinion.
"I really hope not." Sylphy added.
As we arrived there was a large number of maids outside preparing for the test. Lord Sauros, Lord Phillip, Eris and Lady Hilda were also all present and were sitting peacefully under a tree with the exception of Sauros who was standing with his arms crossed much like a redheaded girl I know.
"Ah you've arrived." Phillip greeted.
"Hmph." Hilda added.
"Let's get on with it then." Sauros declared.
We all walked forward as Ghislaine left our side to stand by Sauros.
"You will all be engaging in a 1 on 1 test battle against the Sword King Ghislaine. If you meet our standards you will remain as workers. However if we find you have been lying about your current abilities you will be fired and removed from the estate." Phillip announced.
Surprised plastered itself on the three of our faces. We had to fight mother? The sword king? How was this fair!? No calm down. This has to be just a test to see our abilities. There's no way they expect us to win. Only to demonstrate our skills.
"Decide among you which one will go first." Sauros ordered.
The three of us looked at each other. Sylphy was understandably terrified. Rudy also looked very nervous. He could barely catch myself and Paul in his king class magic due to our high speed but now he had to catch a sword king? It wasn't very likely to happen. Sylphy without a doubt wouldn't be able to do much. She still couldn't perform 'Deadly Waters' without an incantation yet. So catching someone as fast as Ghislaine would prove even more troublesome for her. I, on the other hand, knew one thing. I can't win. I ran through several possibilities in my head and regardless of what I did I would inevitably lose. That would normally be the case except, It was high noon. For some reason I felt my strongest at noon and if I felt a large amount of energy within my body around this time. I always decided to hold in this energy, but I wonder what would happen If I expelled it outside my body. Only one way to find out.
I stepped forward before saying "I'll go first."
Rudy and Sylphy seemed to calm down a bit.
"Right Ghislaine. Leighton will be your first opponent. Don't hold back because he's your son." Phillip ordered.
"Never planned on it." My mother answered as she walked towards me with a smirk. She took off her eyepatch which revealed a green eye with a weird symbol in it. Did I get my multicolored eyes strictly from my mother? No her eyes different though I don't know what it is.
I never knew that in the face of a stronger opponent. I would find myself smiling!? I was honestly so happy to test my strength on my mother no less who is regarded as one of the top 10 swordsmen/swordswomen in the world. This is what I've been training for and I'd be damned if I lost without putting up at least a good fight.
"Both sides ready?" Eris questioned.
"Yeah." Ghislaine smirked.
"Let's do this." I declared.
"BEGIN!" Eris announced
As the fight started Ghislaine rushed me with speed I had never seen before, she landed a hit directly on my shoulder which sent pain coursing through my body. Gotta get away I thought. I launched a small wind blast to push her and myself away. IT'S NOW OR NEVER I released all of the built up energy the sun had granted me. The result was something I definitely had not expected.
I grew. I grew everywhere. My body had grown even bigger than my mothers. I had grown just a bit taller than her. Which is saying a lot because my mother is roughly 6'6'' in height. There was a large amount of golden aura circulating my body. My clothes had completely torn up and all that remained of them was a very thin amount of cloth that covered my member.
Everyone was completely taken aback. As was I. I stood there for a few moments looking at my hand before noticing the power increase. To say it was incredible would be an understatement. My power seemed to increase about 5x over. So this is what noon will do to me huh? I looked at my mother who was still completely stunned.
"Lei!? What happened? How has my kitten grown so big!?" She questioned.
I looked at her then back at my hand and answered "Seems I let out my true power. That doesn't matter now, let's continue." I announced.
As I said this I rushed her this time. She was completely stunned by my speed but managed to barely block the attack. I didn't let up though and kept my relentless attack going. As I did she lost more and more ground. I decided to finish the attack with a downward slash which she also blocked.
"Tsk" I voiced. Before retreating back to gain some distance. Sure I was stronger but she was still a sword king and an ex S rank adventurer. She had plenty of experience against stronger opponents. I decided I couldn't win without magic. I closed my eyes which prompted an opening that my mother didn't hesitate to take advantage of. She charged me and prepared a downward slash, but It stopped moments before hitting my head to everyone's surprise. The sword seemed to have collided with nothing but hot air and she couldn't push the sword forward. I stood there with my hand raised at the spot with the heated air before releasing all my mana.
The result was a Red ball of heat and fire about the size of a basketball. My mothers eyes widened as she tried to retreat but it was too late. I sent the ball towards her and it connected to her gut. She was launched to the other side of the courtyard.
As Ghislaine tried to rise back to her feet I put my wooden sword to her throat.
"I admit defeat,'' she said. Although her voice wasn't the least bit sad or angry. No, her voice was full of pride and amazement. I lowered my sword and helped her up before the aura around my body dissipated and I quickly lost consciousness.

3 days later
I woke up to the sound of chatter within the room. As I opened my eyes I caught sight of Rudy who was talking to Sylphy and Eris.
"HE'S WAKING UP!" Eris noticed.
Both Sylphy and Rudy turned to see she had not been lying.
"LEI!" Both Rudy and Sylphy shouted and hugged me.
"Uh, what happened. My heads on fire." I asked, still a little unclear on what transpired moments before I lost consciousness.
"You tell us." Rudy demanded.
And just like that the memories of what happened quickly flowed back into my mind.
"Did I win?" I was a little unsure.
"DID YOU WIN? YOU DESTROYED HER!" Rudy shouted, earning a slap on the back of the head from Eris.
"He didn't destroy her. He barely won. If Ghisliane had made one last stand he would have lost consciousness before he could win." Eris explained
"I see." I said
"You did great though Lei, Rudy and I couldn't come anywhere near as close as you did." Sylphy added.
Oh right they were supposed to fight her too.
"How did your matches go?" I asked, getting a look of disappointment from both of them.
"We both lost although Rudy put up a better fight than me." Sylphy informed me.
"Keep your heads up. I wasn't even sure I'd win until I used that power." I tried to motivate them.
"Speaking of that power, What the hell was that?" Rudy questioned.
I looked down at the bed I was lying in before thinking of a way to explain it. Hiding the power would be impossible now. In the past I had told my family that they had simply been imagining my growth but now it was simply impossible to hide.
"I'll explain it when my mother is here." I replied.
"Then get to explaining." We all turned our heads to the door where we had heard the voice come from, and none other than Ghislaine stood there.
Just my luck. I have to go into this blind. Damn I wish I could have come up with some way of explaining first.
"Well you see." I started. "Ever since I first started training in swordsmanship with Paul I noticed that I would gain power. At first I thought it was just my imagination but after a few months I realized the source of my power is the sun. I call this power Sunshine"
Everyone stayed silent and only expressed their thoughts through facial expressions.
"As I got older my power increased. Everytime I would walk in the sun's rays my body would grow and so would my physical potential to an extraordinary scale. A negative drawback of it is that my pride inflates. That being said I had always felt my strongest at around midday. Around this time I would feel like an active volcano ready to erupt on command. In my fight against you, Mother, I decided to erupt that power out of my body. The result? Well you saw for yourself." I explained.
Everyone seemed to understand now but were still pretty surprised that I had such a power increase with the sun's light.
"I had never used that power you saw before. I only released it against you so I'm not used to it." I finished.
Ghislaine nodded before speaking
"So this Sunshine Power you speak of is the reason behind that increase in strength?"
I nodded.
She smiled before coming to the bed and hugging me.
"I'm relieved." She started, "I thought it was something much more concerning but If it's only your power then I have nothing to worry about." She finished while squeezing me tightly.
"This is unfair, why do you have a cool god given power? I want one. This is exactly why I won't teach you my magic." Rudy whined.
If only he knew. I have no doubt Truck-Kun gave me this power. It's so obvious. He killed me and forced me to look at the sun one last time. He granted me this gift and for that he will receive my eternal loyalty.
Sylphy walked over to Rudy and patted his back to calm him down while Eris took a different approach and hit him on the head again.
"Shut up. He's Ghislaine's son so of course he's gonna be amazing. Just train harder." Eris announced. "That being said, I won't fall behind." She added.
I smiled at this before raising my hand to which she walked forward and shook it. A new rival has entered the pact. Now there's four of us.
After everything had settled down they explained what had happened in the past 3 days. I couldn't believe it. Someone had kidnapped Eris and Rudy but they managed to escape. They went on the run for a whole night before returning back to Roa. Once they arrived they were attacked again and Rudy protected Eris with his life. However right before they could be killed my mother arrived and killed the kidnappers. Sylphy had slept through the whole thing. I can understand the subordinates' hate for Eris but this was obviously too far. They deserved the death penalty in my books.
After they finished explaining we all went outside for sword training. Sylphy even joined in. It was around 6pm so the sun had almost set giving me no chance to release the full extent of sunshine but I didn't mind. There was always tomorrow.

2 months later
2 months flew by in the blink of an eye. I hadn't progressed in sword skill or magic necessarily, but what I did progress in is my mastery of Sunshine. I spent every single day exerting the full power of sunshine from sunrise to sunset. This increased my size and power as midday approached. And as it left I slowly lost size and power until night time. Rinse, repeat. I also had the honor of guarding Lord Sauros in his daily affairs. It helped the whole body guard look that during the day I was only a few inches shorter than him and at noon I was considerably taller than him. Sauros had specially made clothes for me. They would be baggy at night but during the day they fit perfectly and during midday they would squeeze my figure but not enough to rip the clothes, it was perfect.
That way I could keep training without having to change clothes. Of course I could choose to just not let out the full power of sunshine which would make me grow but not much, however I really wanted to master this power. Mastering it could only mean a positive future, and as things stood now I was easily the strongest in the whole entire house. Originally I was to be paid 5 silver per month but after my power display they brought that up to 1 gold and 5 silvers. It's still less than my mothers but it's probably due to her also working as Eris' sword trainer. Since I started getting paid I haven't spent a coin. I haven't forgotten our reason for coming here after all.
As I was walking through the halls with Lord Sauros one day I was approached by Rudy who seemed happier than usual.
"Rudy, what's got you so happy?" I questioned while looking down. It was around midday at this point so I towered him.
"Eris' dance teacher asked if she could have some of my class time in order to prepare Eris for her 10th birthday in 6 months. Rudy explained. It took some time for everyone but they eventually got used to my changing in height and muscle.
"Her 10th birthday? I had no idea it was approaching." I stated honestly.
"That's because I didn't tell you!" Sauros announced.
I wasn't exactly close with Sauros but I spent a lot of time with him. I didn't hate him but to say I liked him would be a bit of a stretch as well. Afterall he is enslaving my people. Sometimes he even has me stand guard while he rapes them. Some may say it's not rape simply because they aren't saying no but they obviously don't want it so it's rape in my eyes. That being said If you look past that he's not a bad guy which is why I don't hate him. However I still don't like taking orders from someone as almighty as myself.
"So what will you do now Rudy?" I asked
"I'm probably gonna go hang out with Sylphy, she should be in her room right now right?" Rudy answered before asking a question.
"Yea, Lord Sauros and I just came from that way. She just returned to her room." I explained.
"Alright then I'll be on my way." Rudy said before giving Lord Sauros a nobleman's bow and walking away."
"See you later then." I waved.
Lord Sauros and I continued walking until we stopped at his study wheresome beast women maids were lined up in the hallway.
"Wait here Leighton." he ordered
I bowed, and respected his command. He walked along the line of women until he stopped at one with blonde hair and bunny ears.
"You follow me." He demanded.
"Y-yes." She responded and followed him into his study.
As the door closed I could see the look of relief but also fear in their eyes. They had not been chosen but their friend had been. I decided to make some small talk and hopefully relax their nerves.
"It's good to see you all again. I don't know if you remember me. I'm Leighton. I usually work with you guys in the kitchen at night time." I started. They seemed to think about my words for a moment before all of them gasped.
"Your Leighton Greyrat?" One of the girls with dog ears and brown hair questioned.
"Yes. My body grows when I'm in the sunlight. The form you see at night is more or less how I actually look. This godly being you see now is the definition of power. You're free to bow." I explained.
Ever since I decided to master sunshine my pride has been a bit of an issue. Sure my power and size increase but that is nothing compared to my huge increase in pride.
The girls seemed taken aback before smiling.
"It's good to see you Mr. Leighton. Thank you for offering your strength to protect us and our masters." A girl with white hair and cat ears spoke up.
I nodded
This was exactly the praise I had been looking for. Finally some people understand my excellence.
"Indeed you're very welcome." I started. "Now then. I really don't understand the concept of losing my freedom. I couldn't stand for it. Why do you let yourself be forced to do things that clearly go against your freedom?" I asked with a tone demanding an answer.
The maids were caught off guard. They hadn't expected a bodyguard directly responsible for protecting Sauros to be so against the concept of lost freedom. However they remained quiet. Not because they didn't want to answer but they couldn't. They had been branded by a slave seal. They couldn't talk bad about their master or go against them without consequences.
I already knew all of that but by looking at their faces I could see their thoughts clearly.
"I have a question. This is a one time offer. Do you want me to help you leave this place?" I asked.
The maids were stunned. Simply nodding their head wouldn't trigger the seals so I knew they should be fine to answer. However when I saw them all shake their heads in denial I was completely surprised.
"We can't leave. We have loved ones here. If you ended up taking us all it would cause a huge problem for everyone in the long run. Thank you for your offer but will serve." The brown haired girl explained.
I nodded before remaining silent. As did the rest of them. A few minutes later the door to Sauros' study opened. Out walked the blonde. She was wearing a brave face for the sake of her friends but I knew she was hurting inside.
"Leighton come inside. Beast women, you're free to return to your duties." Sauros ordered to which everyone complied.

A few hours later
Sauros had finished his work within his study and ordered me to return to guard Eris which I promptly did. When I arrived at Eris' room inside were Rudy, Sylphy, and Eris herself. Rudy seemed to be telling a story about the time we had saved Sylphy from the bullies.
"And then I punched Somal right in the gut and kicked him in the face." I said introducing the others to my presence. It was around 3 pm so I was still relatively big but not as big as before.
"Oh Lei you're here." Sylphy greeted.
"Yea just finished up with my guard duties." I explained.
"I hope my grandfather is working hard for you." Eris teased.
I chuckled before saying
"He definitely has me hold the full power of sunshine every moment I'm around him." I expressed my exhaustion.
I mean I would have done it anyways but still the fact that he orders me to do it is annoying.
"He's your boss after all. If you didn't listen to him then you kinda don't deserve to get paid." Rudy voiced.
"Shut up 5 silvers a month." I spat back
Rudy got paid 5 slivers because he was a king class mage. He didn't have any job besides teaching Eris. Even Sylphy made 1 gold a month for being a bodyguard.
"I don't need the literal representation of the hulk telling me what to do." Rudy joked.
"The audacity. Learn your place human. Or I can guarantee you this hulk will smash you." I threatened.
The girls didn't understand the reference but they did understand that things would get violent soon if they did nothing.
"Rudy, Lei, please stop fighting, come on your brothers." Sylphy pleaded.
"Calm down boys, you're supposed to be working together, not against each other." Eris explained.
I for one was already calm. I couldn't contain my seething pride. I wouldn't apologize. Never. Rudy seemed to have the same view because he started to form a water ball.
"Then by all means muscle brain. Try and smash me." Rudy taunted.
My patience had run out. I blitzed him before being met with a face of water. He launched through the window in Eris' room and down 3 stories until my body violently hit the ground. I was more or less unharmed but It was disgraceful. I got back up and jumped back in through the window.
"Follow me." I simply said.
The look in my eyes was cold. Rudy however was unfazed and followed me out of the window and into the courtyard.
"Apologize now and all will be forgiven." I said. There was no anger in my voice but it was cold.
After I said this Eris, Sylphy, Ghislaine, and Phillip all ran outside of the house and to the courtyard.
"Like hell I'd apologize to a muscle brain like you. Hate me all you want. I'm not saying sorry." Rudy responded.
"Hate you?" I started the cold look in my eyes unchanging. "Why would I ever feel hate towards someone weaker than me? No. All I feel for you is pity. You have to fight the strongest after all." I voiced my stance.
"Both of you stop right now I order you too!" Eris demanded
Rudy and I never took our eyes off each other as we began our battle. Rudy started by throwing another water ball at me to which I tanked. I remained unmoving. He continued with a barrage of little water balls until he decided to switch it up.
"DEADLY WATERS!" He shouted. In a matter of seconds a dome of water surrounded me.
"It's over. Apologize." He demanded.
I remained in the water for a few seconds before raising my hand ever so slowly. Then a large amount of heat started to form in my hands. Which caused the water to boil. It was painful. I won't lie. But the pain wasn't coming from him but my own heat.
"CRUEL SUN." I gurgled within the water. From my hand a ball of red fire formed. The water did nothing to extinguish it. I launched it which caused all the water around me to evaporate.
Rudy was taken aback but used wind magic to quickly dodge out of the way. The had stopped and exploded right where he had previously been leaving a good sized crater.
"ENOUGHHHHHHHHHH! Sauros who had just arrived outside with some maids in tow shouted at the top of his lungs.
I looked over at him, the cold look never leaving my eye. Rudy walked over to Eris who was pretty upset. I couldn't hear what he said to her but I assume it was an apology.
"LEIGHTON COME HERE!" Sauros ordered.
I remained unmoving. My pride wouldn't allow it.
"Or what?" I questioned.
This actually put a look of surprise on Sauros' face.
"Then your relieved from your duties here." Sauros coldly said.
Hearing this my cold stare only grew colder.
"Grandfather, surely you can't mean that?" Eris questioned.
"I said what I said Eris. If he can't listen to my orders then I have no use for him." the old man explained.
Finally I decided to speak up.
"Then I'll take my leave." I said coldly before walking away. "I don't wanna serve someone who rapes women anyways." A look of surprise plastered itself on the maids faces as well as Sauros, Phillip.
Before I could say anything else or take another step I was struck in the back of the head. I immediately fell unconscious.
When I woke up I was still in the courtyard though, the crater I had previously made was no longer there. Everyone was still there but it seemed darker. If I had to guess I'd say it was around 8 pm. My body was back to its normal size.
"Apologize Lei." My mother ordered.
I put two and two together. She was the one who knocked me out. Then I guess they left me until night time when I wasn't influenced by my pride to get my true feelings.
"I-I'm sorry Rudy, Lord Phillip, Lord Sauros, and Eris. I was acting extremely prideful and wouldn't take orders from anyone. I said some things I didn't mean. Please forgive me!" I begged my forehead, kissing the ground.
"You're fine in my books. Just don't do it again." Eris ordered.
"Thank you so much, I won't." I promised.
"I should apologize too. I knew you were prideful during the day but still decided to push the issue. I'm sorry." Rudy apologized and hugged me. "We're brothers and nothing will separate us. We'll move past this little fight together." Rudy added.
"It would hurt to lose out on someone of your skill. Just please try to avoid a situation like this again. I can't guarantee our leniency if there's a next time." Lord Phillip demanded.
"I've grown to think of you as one of my own in this time we've spent together, Lei." Sauros started. "I didn't know my relations with the beast women bothered you. Now thinking about it though, I understand. I wouldn't be happy if someone were having their way with my daughter against their consent. So I'll not only forgive you, but I will refrain from having my way with the maids as often as I have been. I won't cut it off completely, nope I'm addicted, but I'll water it down." Sauros admitted.
"I would greatly appreciate that Lord Sauros. Thank you very much." I voiced my gratitude. In the corner of my eye I could see the maids crying tears of joy. It wasn't perfect but they wouldn't be forced against their will every day now. It was a compromise I was willing to accept.
After that everyone went to their rooms. My mother and I returned to ours. She spent a good portion of time explaining how she didn't like what he did either and expressing her gratitude to me. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows though. She threatened me. She told me If I ever end up in a situation like that she would hunt me down to the ends of the earth and wear my skin as a dress. I shivered at the thought and begged for her forgiveness.

6 months later
It was the morning of Eris' birthday. All the most important figures in the Asura kingdom would be there. I had even received word that the king might pop his head into the event. To say it was a big deal was an understatement. That being said, It meant security for the event was going to be tough. Not only would it be Sylphy, Ghislaine, and myself but it would also be a few of the king's personal knights.
In the past 6 months I have greatly progressed. The day after my little fight with Rudy he told me that I had become a king class mage. I was confused until he explained. Since my attack had completely nullified his spell and not only did it nullify it it overpowered it, he said I was at least king class now, if not higher.
That was great news although for all I knew I could be higher than king class in the magic department. I wouldn't ever be able to find out unless I fought an emperor class mage or higher.
As for my sword skills, I'm very happy to say I have earned the title Sword King Leighton. It was truly a historic moment. One that my mother had deemed to be the case after I had finished sparring with her.
Lord Sauros said he wanted to use my title as well as my mothers along with the power of Sylphiette and Rudeus to gain the support of the kingdom.
The party would be held within the evening. Lord Sauros decided that this would be the best course of action. He wishes to keep my power of sunshine a secret for now. I myself have no objections.
"Wake up Lei." My mother demanded. Truth be told I was already awake. I didn't want to get up. So I said a line that I haven't said since my first life.
"Just 5 more minutes." I pleaded.
My eyes were closed but I could hear Ghislaine getting off the bed.
"No wake up now. Today is a big day, not only for the Boreas family, but for Eris and all of you as well. Your existence will be presented to the world today." She explained.
I groaned before slowly crawling out of bed. It was still early morning and the sun hadn't even risen yet.
Ghislaine walked out of the room and I followed after her.
"Are you excited?" She questioned.
"Of course. I get to see a king. Hopefully a few beautiful noble women as well." I voiced my enthusiasm.
Ghislaine was a bit surprised.
"Since when were you the type to care for women?" She asked.
"I don't really, but I'm only getting older. I want to get married one day and enjoy a peaceful life as the strongest with my kids. So it's only natural I would be ready to seek a wife right?" I queried.
"I guess my little kitten isn't so little anymore." She said while smirking.
I smiled at her words. Being around her really did calm my soul.
As we arrived at the dining hall we were greeted by some maids.
"Good morning Master Leighton, Sword King Ghislaine!"
"Master?" I asked.
"You helped us. We're indebted to you. Calling you master is the least we could do." The blonde haired bunny girl explained. "Do you mind?" She asked, pouting a bit.
"Not at all, just caught me off guard. Call me what you like." I answered honestly
In response to my words the maids' attitude became cheerful.
"Anyways, it seems like we're a bit early, so let's train outside." Ghislaine jumped in.
"Sounds good to me." I agreed
We spent around 4 hours training and another 2 hours rehearsing proper etiquette to greet nobles and royalty. It was around 10 am when Rudeus came outside.
"Good morning Lei, Ghislaine." Rudy greeted us.
"Good morning Rudeus." Ghislaine returned
"What's up Rudy." I said.
"Just woke up, you ready for today?" Rudy asked.
"Yea I think I am a little nervous though." I admitted.
"Yea me two." Rudy agreed.
"You'll both do fine. Don't forget Eris is the main event. You both as well as Sylphy are just a way to bolster strength to the Boreas family." Ghislaine explained.
"About that, when Eris got kidnapped I didn't take credit publicly because you didn't want to start conflict between the Greyrat houses correct?" Rudy questioned.
"I know where you're going with this." Ghislaine started. "You wanna know why they would want to present you now right? Rudeus nodded. Ghislaine continued. "My guess would be because Lord Phillip and Lady Hilda are tired of doing nothing. They want their children back. If they have the support of the country along with 2 king class mages, a sword king, and a sword king mage." Ghislaine finished.
"So basically we're an end to a means?" I asked.
"Yes, pretty much. I'm sure your pay will be increased though after this declaration. Probably about 5x what we're getting now." Ghislaine explained
Rudy's eyes sparkled.
"That means I'd be making 2 gold and 5 silvers." Rudy calculated. His grin was that of a greedy merchant.
"Yea that means I'd be making 7 gold and 5 silvers." I voiced, much to the annoyance of Rudy.
"That's just about enough to go and pay for a few years of tuition for Ranoa Magic Academy." Rudy cheered.
"The point of overpaying you is to keep you from leaving." Ghislaine explained
Rudy sulked at this. I however didn't really care either way. I never really wanted to attend Ranoa. I just didn't want to be left behind. Staying with Eris and taking care of the Boreas family didn't honestly seem that bad to me. I was pulled out of my thoughts as Sylphy and Eris came outside.
"Good morning Lady Eris, and Happy 10th Birthday." Rudy, Ghislaine and I all said and bowed.
"C'mon guys you don't need to bow to me. Thank you though." Eris explained.
Eris sure has changed. She was always pretty nice to me but she was a total brat to Rudy. It seems she even treats Rudy with respect now.
"Good morning Rudy." Sylphy announced.
"Good morning Sylphy." Rudy returned.
Damn. So much for my sister figure. She doesn't even care enough to greet me or my mother. That sucks. That sucks a lot. However I still couldn't help but be proud of her. She had been making significant progress with magic and could use king class magic without incantations now. She also could use advanced healing magic without incantations which is HUGE.
"Well then shall we go prepare for the party?" I asked.
"Don't you think it's a little early? We have about 8 hours." Rudy pointed out.
"You can never be too prepared." I explained.
Everyone nodded and entered the house.

7 hours later
Most of the guests were arriving. Sylphy, I and Ghislaine were all at the front door letting people in. This was the real deal, If someone wanted to attack they would do it now. That meant us bodyguards how to be on high alert.
"IT'S THE KING!" A noble who was waiting to be let in shouted.
Sure enough there he was. An old bearded man followed by a fat bald guy with a cheeky face. In front of him were several guards wearing very expensive looking armor. They cut the line and continued to walk towards the door but halted upon seeing us.
"Sword King Ghislaine. It has been a long time. You look as strong as ever." The King of the Asura kingdom spoke.
"Yes it has. Ghislaine said, getting on one knee. "It's an honor and a privilege to speak to you once more."
The king looked over at Sylphy and myself.
We both followed suit and got on one knee.
"Who are these two." His majesty questioned.
"The boy is my son, as well as a bodyguard for tonight's event. His name is Leighton Greyrat. As for the girl, she is also working as a bodyguard. Her name is Sylphiette.
I couldn't see anything but the ground as I kept my head down out of respect but the king stayed quiet for a little before speaking again.
"These two children are bodyguards? Do they meet the necessary requirements to ensure the safety of everyone?" His majesty asked though it sounded more like a demand.
"You needn't worry about your majesty." Ghislaine started. "My son, like myself, is also a sword king." Not only that but he is also a king class mage. As for Sylphiette. She is a King class mage who can use wordless incantations. Please do not underestimate their skills; they will ensure your safety as well as everyone else in attendance." Ghislaine finished.
I couldn't see the king's reaction to our credentials but I'm sure he and the others were surprised to say the least.
"You may rise." The King commanded.
All of us got up and raised our heads.
"I will leave my guards with you, though if what you say is true Sword King Ghislaine, I doubt you'll need them." His majesty said before entering the mansion. As he and his entourage walked in I couldn't help but notice a girl pass by behind him. I couldn't see her eyes but I could see she had pale skin and long blonde hair. She also seemed to be around my age. As she walked inside I turned around and watched until she disappeared into the crowd.
"See something you like?" Ghislaine teased.
I remained quiet. She was beautiful, yes that's true, but that's not what caught my attention. I'm sure my mother must have noticed it too. It was her scent. It was simply divine. It caught me off guard.
As we let in more and more nobles, eventually the last of them had entered.
"We will stay out here and prevent anybody from entering." The guards informed us.
"Very well then we will make sure no problems arise within." Ghislaine responded.
The guards nodded and we entered the party. It was packed. Everyone had one thing in common though. They were all rich. Rudy caught sight of us and waved us over.
"Hey guys I guess you're done letting everyone in?" Rudy asked.
"Yup it went smoothly." Sylphy answered.
I nodded and Ghislaine started to walk towards an area where she could get a better look at everything.
Right, we're still working.
"Do you know when Lord Sauros will give the speech?" I asked.
"No idea." Rudy answered. "I'm sure it will be right before Eris' dance.
"I see." I said before turning away. "I'm gonna get back to work holler if you see anything suspicious."
"You got it." Rudy guaranteed.
As I walked through the group of nobles I couldn't help but notice they were staring at me. Not in a good way. I guess the stereotypical human racism towards beast people exists within the Asura Kingdom. I mean I already had believed it but experiencing it was another thing entirely. It's a good thing the party wasn't during the day. I wouldn't have been able to control my pride. If someone decided to say something.
Eventually I found myself near the King. That blonde girl I had seen before was right behind him, standing next to a brown haired boy with brown eyes. Did my nose lead me here? It really doesn't matter. I'm just a body guard so I won't say anything.
I walked right past them and continued towards where I smelled Eris, although something caught my shirt. I looked back only to see the same pale blonde. Only this time, I could see her eyes. She had beautiful blue eyes that reminded me of Zenith's ocean blue eyes.
"Do you need something?" I asked
"You forget yourself." The brown haired boy said before grabbing my arm. "How dare you speak that way to the princess."
Princess? I looked back at her a bit surprised and she just gave me a playful smile.
"My apologies. I had no idea. I am a bodyguard for the Boreas family. My job is guarding the people. Please remove your hand from my arm." I apologized then asked nicely.
"Hmph as long as you understand your mistake." the brown haired boy scoffed before letting go.
I bowed slightly before turning around only to be stopped again. I looked back only to see that the princess had grabbed my shirt again. I stared at her until she spoke.
"I couldn't help but notice your eyes are beautiful." She complimented. Her voice was gentle, I felt like my head was melting with each word she said. I snapped myself back to reality.
"Oh t-thank you." I responded. This prompted a smile from her. It was small but it had something hidden behind it. Something familiar that I didn't like.
"Your eyes are quite beautiful as well." I was being honest.
She gained a slight surprised look but then her smile got a little wider and that's when I realized why I didn't like that smile. It was the same as Rudeus' smile. The same one he would show when he was staring at Lilia's breasts.
I decided I needed to get as far away from her as possible or she would definitely have me end up putting a baby in her. Her next words sealed the deal of fear in my heart.
"Would you like to act as my personal bodyguard tonight? I'm a bit scared. A big boy like you could surely protect me." She teased but her expression was cute.
No. Calm yourself. This is exactly what she wants. I'm sure even at her young age she's taken others to bed already. I must not fall victim to her words.
"Excuse me Ladies and Gentleman, I would like your attention." Lord Sauros announced.
Everyone stopped talking and turned to the gray haired man.
"I must be going." I bowed to the princess and her brown haired attendant before moving towards Sauros.
"Thank you for your attention." Sauros continued. "I would like to thank everyone for coming to celebrate my daughter Eris' 10th birthday. I would especially like to thank His Majesty as well as First Prime Minister Darius Silva Ganius for attending. Before I introduce my daughter for the main event, I would like to take this opportunity to show the strength of our family." Sauros paused and looked towards Phillip who walked beside his father before clapping twice.
"That's our queue." I whispered
Rudeus, Ghislaine, Sylphy, and I all made our way to the Sauros. Once we stood beside him we kneeled with our heads down. Just like we had rehearsed.
"This is the power of the Boreas Family." Sauros started again. Starting from the left. The young blonde you see is named Rudeus Greyrat. He is the son of Paul Greyrat, former member of the Notos house." After Sauros said this, he took a pause which prompted many nobles to whisper amongst themselves. Then he continued, "He may look young and he is, however the power he possesses is immense. He is only 8 years old but already has the title of King Class Mage. Not only can he perform King Class magic, but he can also use wordless incantations." The nobles weren't whispering anymore. They were freely talking amongst themselves.
"Next." Sauros started again. "Many of you know this one. She is the Sword King Ghislaine Dedoldia. She is among the top 10 swordsmen/swordswomen in the world. Her power should be known by you all by now. Half a year ago my daughter was kidnapped and it was Ghislaine who single handedly killed all the kidnappers. With the help of Rudeus protecting Eris, these two have shown their ability." Sauros paused again. This time what the nobles were saying could be heard a bit.
"That's amazing." One man said
"From the notos house, that can't be good." Another said.
"What's the Boreas family think they're doing?" One of the king's aids said.
As I glanced up I could see the look in the King's eye as well as his ministers. They were pissed. Very pissed. Why? I wouldn't know. Though they're anger was apparent.
Sauros continued. "Our next representative of the Boreas' strength is none other than young Sylphiette. She may look fragile, but do not for a second underestimate her. Sylphiette is also a King Class Mage who can use wordless incantations just like Rudeus. She can also use wordless incantations with Advanced healing magic at the young age of 8 years old."
This announcement caused an uproar from the crowd. It was obvious that most everyone there was mad now. Though I'm sure this is what Sauros wanted. After all, If I was right, he basically wanted to declare war on his son, Phillips brother and reclaim his grandchildren. If he planned on doing something so extreme he would need the threat of power. I can also see why he didn't want them to see my sunshine. Even without it I'm a Sword King, not to mention I could also use Cruel Sun, but with Sunshine I have speed surpassing that of a normal Sword King though I'm nowhere near Sword Emperor. It's a trump card that he wishes to remain a last resort.
Sauros decided to wrap this up. "Finally we have Leighton Greyrat. Son of Paul Greyrat, and Ghislaine Dedoldia. That's right you heard me correctly. He has Notos blood and also that of the Sword King Ghislaine."
I looked up to see the princess' face. That pervy smile she had was gone. The face she made now was just as bad. It was the look someone makes when they want something so bad they'd kill anyone and anything to get it. That was the face she was making at me. She started whispering something in the brown haired boy's ear to which he nodded, his stoic face never changing.
"Leighton is the strongest servant I possess. He is a Sword King much like his mother. He is also a King Class Mage who can use his magic without any incantations. He can use beginner level healing magic without incantations. He is Rudeus' younger half brother." Sauros finished.
When I looked at the king again I froze. He was staring daggers at me. I felt like he would order my execution at any second, I couldn't bear to look into his eyes any longer so I averted my gaze back to the princess. She was smiling sweetly at me. An act no doubt. I could tell she wanted me. For what I hadn't a clue but she did want me.
"This is the power of the Boreas family. I hope you will all do well to remember it. Now then who here is brave enough to gain the respect of our family and take my daughters hand in a dance." Sauros announced.
Eris looked worried. I wanted to get up and ask her what's wrong but we were ordered to keep our eyes on the nobles for reactions and report them to Phillip after.
A brown haired boy different from the one accompanying the princess approached Eris.
"May I have this dance?" he asked as he bowed and held out his hand.
The little brat is smooth. I'll give him that.
"You may." Eris said nervously before stepping forward and taking his hand.
The music started. At first the dance looked to be going well, or at least from what I could see out of the corner of my eye. We were still supposed to be watching the nobles. That is until I heard a thud. The boy fell on his face. The music stopped. Eris was standing there before crossing her arms.
The nobles didn't take long before they started trashing Eris. Calling her violent and other names along those lines. Eris could definitely hear them but decided to play off the strong unbothered look. I know Eris. There's no way this didn't bother her.
Rudeus walked past me. I guess he got tired of seeing Eris embarrass herself and said screw the orders.
"May I have this dance lady Eris." Rudeus asked smoothly while bowing and extending his hand.
"You may." Eris said this time with a bit of a blush.
As the music started they began dancing. This time they were flawless. Not a single mistake. I don't know how Rudy managed to pull that off. I decided I'd ask him later. The dance ended and they received light polite applause from most in attendance. Once the applause died down the music started again this time for the general population of the party to dance.
We were finally allowed to stand up and as I was going towards Rudy to ask what he had done a familiar blonde stepped in front of my path. The brown haired boy is right beside her.
"That was quite the introduction Lord Sauros made for you wasn't it?" the princess asked.
"Indeed it was." I politely responded.
"I wouldn't mind having someone of your skill, not to mention charm, serving me." She offered.
I didn't know which serving she meant but either way I was good on that. I'd rather avoid any royalty especially with that look her father gave me.
"I truly apologize but I am loyal to the Boreas house." I bowed.
She looked a bit disappointed but more annoyed. Even then she still looked beautiful. With how she acts and her beauty there's no way she hasn't claimed anyone.
Before she could say anything else I walked away.
She whispered something. Normally a human wouldn't be able to hear it but I'm not a human.
"Mark my words, I will have you one day, Leighton Greyrat."
A shiver ran down my spine. She seems like the type who gets what she wants by any means. I felt conflicted about that. There was so much charm in her, she was beautiful and bold, and not to mention a princess, but I didn't like any experienced women. Nope I had to be the first man or it wouldn't work. So I decided to do something I would probably regret. I turned around and stopped mere centimeters from her face.
She was stunned. Her bodyguard tried to push me away but I grabbed his hand. I then asked what I needed to know.
"How many people have you slept with?"
She was taken aback by my assertiveness no doubt, after all she had been the one chasing me this whole time and now I go and ask her a question like that.
She looked down and started playing with her thumbs a bit before looking back up at me and answered.
"I haven't slept with anyone, although…"
I continued staring at her, my face unmoving from hers.
"I'm quite the sadist." She whispered. It was so quiet only I could hear.
I deadpanned.
"I understand." I said with a stoic face.
She was crimson red. I'm sure she has never been through such embarrassment. She started to smile in a pervy way again. Don't tell me she's enjoying this. So she's a sadist and a masochist…
"Thank you for your honesty." I bowed before releasing the brown haired boy's arm and walking away.
"I'm Ariel Anemoi Asura. But please just call me Ariel." She announced.
As I looked back one last time I can only say her smile belonged to a goddess with light rosy cheeks. I found myself blushing. I decided to keep moving, and so I did.

I also plan on drifting from the original plot to avoid major spoilers but of course some of the main plot points will still be the same. Lei x Ariel locked in. Pretty hard writing their romance though just because Ariel is almost as pervy as Rudy if not more so. I tried to tone that side of her down but even that seemed just impossible. With Sauros declaration of power a new arc will be born from it. The Greyrat War arc is what I'm gonna call it. It will most likely be wrapped up by the end of the next chapter and after that we can move onto Turning Point 1. Super Excited. I really wanna see where this story goes.
