Beatrix stared up at the canvas ceiling of her tent, sleep alluding her. She had been laying there for at least an hour, but she was awake as she had been at noon. It was frustrating, and the more frustrated she got the less sleepy she was, and the less sleepy she was the more frustrated she got. It was an endless loop. One she was determined to break.

She sighed, and kicked off her blankets. She pulled her nightclothes off, and put on just enough clothes to be decent along with her boots. She pushed open the flap of her tent in time to see Wynne and Alistair trading off watch duties. Once Wynne was inside her tent, Beatrix left to follow Alistair to where he went to stand to do his watch duty.

She sneaked up behind him, and slid her arms around his waist. He let out a surprised squeak that he would absolutely deny making when he noticed her arms. His face was flaming red when he looked over his shoulder at her, obviously embarrassed by his reaction.

"Hey, I thought you were asleep," his voice was still a little tight when started speaking. He placed his gloved hands over hers, running his thumbs over her hands.

"Couldn't sleep."

"Bad dreams?"

She shook her head, "No, thankfully. I just couldn't fall asleep. I thought I could keep you company instead."

"Keep me company, hmmmmm?" he joked. She could practically hear his eyebrows wiggling.

She snorted, "Alistair, you know that's not what I meant."

He feigned shock, "My dear lady, what did you think I meant? I was simply trying to clarify what you said."

She chuckled, and shook her head against his back. They fell into a comfortable silence. She wasn't sure who started it, but they began gently swaying back and forth in time to some imaginary song. She hummed contently as she felt more relaxed than she had in days. For the smallest of moments she forgot about the Blight, and she remembered it, she found herself hoping for more moments like this when it ended.

"I love you," she whispered.

"I love you too."
