And in the east of the Misty Mountains, Thranduil returns to his father and learns the meaning of joy again, unaware that Sauron never forgets nor does he forgive.

Éowyn is an endlessly fascinating character to me. This is her story, to my mind. Chapter 1 how she became a shieldmaiden. This story will eventually merge with my story of Faramir, "Bound by Duty; Bound by Joy" where they meet. It is her story in that story arc.

Someone poisons King Ar-Pharazôn's wine, and Elrond is held responsible. It's up to the famous detective, Teti of Harad, to get to the bottom of it.

Legolas is on his way to a visit in Rivendell with his sister. The journey gets dangerous but at least he and their guards get his sister there safely. Or so he thought.
