A/N: Is it weird that I paired off a Black and a Rosier? I mean I already considered the fact that they were related. They are cousins, but then they're also purebloods so I didn't think to much of it. Anyway, just wanted to clarify that. If you're not comfortable with it then you could always pretend that they are aren't cause the fact won't really be acknowledged in the story.

Oh and I also have an ongoing Camilo Madrigal x OC story if you're interested hehehe.

Back to the present…

After a long day, I finally made it back to the dungeons. In my opinion, that was way too much work for the 2nd week of classes. Then again we were 5th years, which means OWLs. Ugh. Entering the common room I plop myself down on the couch and let out a tired sigh.

Adeline sat down beside me, chuckling.

"Been a long day, huh?"

"I'm drained… mostly because I had to walk here from the astronomy tower. How were your last classes?" Sue me, I wanted to make people believe that I was effortlessly intelligent.

"You mean after you left me in Potions"

"You always take too long" I shut my eyes for a bit, in an attempt to relax.

"I'm not offended, a lot of people think you aren't even human" I heard her tease.

"And you think I don't -"

"I know, I know… You love it" Adeline interrupted.

You can say that Adeline knows me very well now. She's one of the few people who's grown on me. I was usually alone, no surprise there. I'm usually seen with Adeline, Narcissa and Evan. If there are more people with us, that usually means they're with the three I mentioned. Not me.

I felt the other side of the couch dip. I hoped it was someone I could tolerate. I was so exhausted I didn't even bother to open my eyes.

"Say Rosier, A little birdie told me that you're in need of a date to Slughorn's party?"

I almost groaned in annoyance. Instead, I opened my eyes and frowned at the boy on my left. Let's just say that this guy continuously tried to win my favor. I mean a lot did due to my status, name, and since I was my mother's daughter. I inherited her title.

Now if I was to describe him physically in my head, I would say that he wasn't bad looking. Alright, I'll be honest. He was handsome. He had good genes after all. Soft blonde hair and Cerulean blue eyes. However, if there was one advice I'd give you when you're thrown in a pit of snakes. The pretty ones are usually the most aggressive and venomous. This boy wasn't an exception. He was pretty to look at, but if you look close enough there was something sinister hidden behind those blue orbs.

"And what's it to you, Avery?" I kept the frown on my face.

"Well, I happen to looking for one as well…"

"And?"

"You know what I'm asking of you Rosier. Besides, we know it'll only be a matter of time before our parents announce our betrothal" He smirked.

"I know for certain that my parents are yet to consider any of the offers for my hand. I asked my father to postpone that until I'm at least 17. Unlike most, he is a sensible man and knew that I needed time to focus on myself. He also stays true to his word, unlike someone."

His smile faded at my short speech.

"I told you the first time Avery. I do not want these things discussed until the time is right for it. Please respect my wishes this time. We wouldn't want my brother to tell our parents that you've been disrespectful, would we Evan? "

I looked at my brother who was now behind Avery, standing beside the couch.

"No, of course not" He replied with a stern voice. His blank demeanor said it all. Which means it took all of him not to hit the blue eyed boy in blind rage. He knew better though, he wasn't a stupid gryffindor. Evan would wait for the right time to strike. When his opponent was least expecting it while being on their weakest. The point is, he can be fiendish if he wanted to.

"I apologize, Serafina" Avery stated while gritting his teeth after he realized exactly who was behind him.

"Evan" He nodded at my brother before standing up and making his way to the boy's dormitories.

I looked back at Adeline to find her wearing a proud smirk.

"I'm glad to call you my best friend, Serafina Rosier"

"Right back at you, Greengrass" I replied.

"Well, that was another great conversation with one of your suitors" Evan stated. If I was constantly being cold and blank, he was the best at being sarcastic and broody. We had different acts that worked very well together.

"I've warned him already. If I didn't care for our family's name, I would've hexed him a long time ago. Besides, I know you've always got my back"

"Cause no one else would want to do it for you… " He muttered.

I rolled my eyes while Adeline scoffed.

"You guys have a weird way of saying you care for each other. Whenever one does something for the other, you say thank you by fighting. I never knew that could be a love language" She ended with a teasing look. One thing I learned about my best friend was how much she loved to tease. I believe that one of the main reasons why we work so well with each other was how she hasn't managed to piss me off yet.

"We're siblings, it's what we do" I stated before standing up.

"I'll just put my books away, I'll see you in the great hall for dinner. You love birds better go on"

Oh and did I forget mention? My brother was betrothed to Adeline. They didn't really say anything about dating but those stares and hand holding were enough proof that they kind of were. They're very lucky as Adeline already fancied my brother since 3rd year and Evan, though he would never admit it, had feelings for the girl ever since she told him off when he was being mean to me. Of course, at that time she didn't really know how we worked yet. I guess Evan was impressed that the then timid girl stood up to him for his sister when Adeline was only a 1st year. However, the most annoying thing was how they started acting like they were my parents since one of the things they bonded over was how protective they were of me. There were times when the both of them silently agreed on not leaving me alone cause even if they don't say it they're worried about how withdrawn I have become.

Adeline was lightly blushing when she turned to me, "You're sure? You know we can wait so we can all go together"

I waved her off.

"I'll be fine Mum. I am very sure that I can walk towards the great hall without anything bad happening to me"

She rolled her eyes once more, while my brother was looking at her. The corners of his mouth were slightly turned up.

"Alright, we'll see you there" She said before quickly hugging me then taking a hold of Evan's hand to drag him to dinner.

They can be very sweet it's disgusting

After I put away my things, I was already on my way out when I bumped into none other than Regulus Arcturus Black.

"Fin" He nodded at me.

"Regulus" I replied before asking,

"On your way to dinner?"

"Yes, care to join me? " He smirked.

"I would usually say no but today I'm quite hungry, lead the way"

Regulus, ever the gentleman, offered me his arm. I took it and we made our way to the great hall.

Alright, let me explain. I know I usually become a cold hearted monster when boys try to be all close, but Regulus was kind of my friend? He never confirmed it and I don't exactly know how it works as my only friends are Adeline and Narcissa. The two girls often argued about which one of them was my best friend so I really didn't need to ask them if they already considered me to be their friend. That would have been awkward. This is why I hate emotions. Anyway, you can say that Regulus and I became sort-of-friends when we got paired up in Potions. That resulted in us brewing an exceptional potion in record time according to Professor Slughorn. Ever since, he would start studying with me and ask me questions about classes we have together. He had this soft personality that was hidden behind a tough front. I noticed this when he started scooting over so I could sit next to Narcissa, or when he lets me borrow a book from the library that he had found first. All in all, I've learned to appreciate his company. Probably more than I should.

"How have you been?" I asked.

I watched as his expression darkened.

"You know?" He replied.

"Well… No, you just confirmed it to me. I simply heard the rumors"

There had been whispers of Sirius Black finally leaving home. However, from what I heard I don't think he could even call it that anymore. Regulus looked unaffected but I knew better. They act like they despise each other cause it's the only way they can show that they care without putting each other in a difficult place. Regulus would be shunned if his people found out that event a small a part of him cares for Sirius. Sirius, in turn, would be in danger if he'll continue to try and take Regulus with him.

"I'm fine. It's better this way. He was a disappointment after all" He scoffed lightly.

"True.. but I'd definitely miss Evan, even if he is a big disappointment" My statement caused a small smile in his face.

For a moment we were just walking. Sometimes I'm tempted to let my walls crumble when I'm with Regulus, but I knew he wasn't that different from other heirs. If I asked him whether it never, not once, crossed his mind that he was doing this because of my status… I knew he wouldn't be able to say no. After reminding myself of this fact I loosened my hold on his arm and put a little more distance between the two of us. If he noticed he didn't do anything to show it.

"Have you talked to him lately?" Regulus asked.

"No… not really. All your brother ever does is annoy the life out of me. It's like it's his mission to make my life miserable by gracing me with his presence. I wouldn't remember the you two being brothers, if it wasn't for your appearances" I almost rolled my eyes.

Sirius Black was a stupid ball of horribleness. I already hexed him about five times. It only seemed to fuel him more. Whenever he we did have a conversation he always asked me how I'm so stiff and then proceeds to tell me that he'll make me show my 'true colors' someday. It was really stupid since the only way he attempted to do this was through lame jokes. "What do you call two quidditch players who share a dorm? BROOMATES!"

I let go of Regulus' arm once we were nearing the doors to the great hall. We both knew the rumors would go wild once people saw us. We simply couldn't deal with all the attention, especially when our parents were definitely going to know about it somehow. Word goes around , and it isn't always the truth. Especially since that little cockroach Rita Skeeter is around.

I nodded at Regulus before going inside first and making my way to the space beside Narcissa.

"Cissa" I greeted.

"Took you long enough, I almost thought you were going to skip… " She trailed off while she was looking at something, rather someone, behind me.

I turned to see Regulus making his way at the end of the slytherin table several spaces from where we were sitting. Then I looked back at the blonde girl who's mouth was now hanging open.

"Narcissa you'll catch flies" I said before placing some food on my plate.

The girl snapped out of it and gave me the largest grin, which almost made me wince. How does one's face endure such an expression?

"I knew I wasn't mistaken when I saw you on his arm last year! How come you've never told me!?"

"There's nothing to tell"

"Don't give that thing where you dodge every question with that cold expression of yours. I've known you since we were in diapers for crying out loud"

"Which means you also know that you can't make me tell you anything " I replied in a soft voice before eating.
