[DREAMWORLD PARADOX CHAPTER 01: AN INVITATION]
Devil Dragon Stand Knight's A/N:
Long ago, I wanted to continue someone's legacy... but I failed for my ambitions got the better of me and I let my hubris define my decisions. I hurt people I cared about, and I deleted the story out of shame... but now, I am starting over, this is a new beginning!
This is a three-way collab between me, Enriks-Da-Writer, and Caw-zrs6.
EnriksD8's A/N: I'm reposting these in Archive of Our Own (AO3) since JokerCurry (Devil Dragon Stand Knight on FanFiction and TheAstureDevil on DeviantArt) had approached me and Caw_zrs6 on wanting to have this collab story go from beyond FanFiction's borders and into new areas.
Anyways, these aren't just reposts of a story from one site to another, these are also fixes I have made since the original had a few errors. What exactly has changed? Well…
In general:
01 – Overall grammar has been improved.
02 – Some extra details to better characterize some characters.
03 – Extra additions to some descriptions.
In this chapter:
01 (2022-05-02 A.D.) – Added line breaks for the actual letter the Eds receive.
Anyways, enjoy the story, folks!
In the peaceful town of Peach Creek, Wisconsin, three young boys were going about their day. They all shared the same name and were the thickest of thieves, doing just about everything together. They were Edwin Horace Alba, Eddward Marion Skyrise, and Eddy Skipper McGee.
At Ed's house, he was busy reading the latest Spider-Man comic book. Ed was a relatively tall young man with tanned yellowish skin, a unibrow, emerald-green eyes, feathery auburn hair, and freckles. He wore a green jacket over a red and white striped undershirt, baggy purple pants, and black boots.
"ED!" Barked a younger girl's voice as Ed saw his little sister Sarah coming downstairs. "You got a letter!"
"OH BOY! MY CATALOG ENTRY!"
Ed happily snatched the letter from his sister's hands and ripped it open to read what was inside. He found it was not his catalog entry like he had expected, but something different. Something that genuinely excited him.
"I MUST TELL EDDY AND DOUBLE-D!"
Jumping through the small window that led from his bedroom out to the backyard, Ed squeezed through and made his way to Double-D's house first.
Eddward, or Double-D as his friends called him, was working on an invention. Double-D was a young man of average height with pale peach skin, golden blonde hair that was covered by a black sock-like hat, baby blue eyes, and a gap in his front teeth. He wore a tomato red t-shirt, purple shorts, red knee-high socks, and light blue shoes.
A beeping got his attention as a Roomba he modified to act as a delivery and retrieval unit came in through the makeshift dog door into his room. It was carrying a letter in the two pincer arms it had.
"Thank you, ROO-BA." Double-D thanked his drone as he opened the letter with an energy letter opener of his design and read the contents inside. His eyes widened in surprise at what he saw before a crash was heard and he turned to see Ed had kicked down the door.
"DOUBLE-D! WE MUST TELL EDDY!"
"La-La-La-La~!" Sang Eddy in the shower as he finished scrubbing himself before getting out and drying himself off. He then went and got dressed in his signature clothes after he finished up.
Eddy was a slightly short young man with pinkish skin, chocolate brown eyes, and shady blue hair with three asymmetrical spiny stalks jutting out. His clothes consisted of a yellow t-shirt with a purple collar and a red vertical stripe running down the side, baggy light blue jeans with a wallet chain attachment, and bright red shoes.
As he checked himself out in the mirror to admire his looks, he noticed a letter on his table that wasn't there before. Curiously, he opened it before reading the contents inside. His eyes quickly trailed over it several times to make sure he was reading it right before a wide and silly grin spread across his lips.
"Oh yeah, baby! This is the big break!"
Suddenly, Eddy and Double-D came in through the back patio door that led to Eddy's room. Letting his friends inside, Eddy could see they also had letters the same as his.
"EDDY! LETTER!"
"Did you get one too?"
Eddy grinned and showed it off. "Feast your eyes, boys!"
The Eds all smiled at each other as they looked over their letters, each one meticulously written with care addressed to the three of them.
Dear Ed/Eddward/Eddy
We are proud to inform you that you have qualified to enlist in our special union school known as the Azeasany Institute of Magic. Formerly known as Canterlot High, due to the abundance of magical occurrences, it is expanded its borders to all sorts of unique individuals. The Sakurada Monarchy has even allowed itself to assimilate itself into the school's funding to provide for everyone.
Come join us so we may introduce you to new friends, new opportunities, and new adventures! We are really looking forward to meeting you!
Eddy smirked as he turned to his friends after they finished re-reading their letters together.
"Pack your bags, boys! Tomorrow, we're heading to that school and showing everyone just how cool we really are!"
"I've never seen you so excited for school before, Eddy." Double-D teasingly said. "This has to be a miracle in its own."
"FANCY MAGIC SCHOOL GOOD FOR ED!" Ed cheered, all three Eds showing their excitement in various ways.
In another house nearby in the Cul-De-Sac of Peach Creek, Rolf Yvorik, the resident foreign kid from a faraway land known only as 'The Old Country', was tending to his crops.
Rolf was a tall and lean boy with washboard abs. He had tanned skin from dutiful farm work, a unibrow, navy blue hair, and light brown eyes. He wore a yellow t-shirt with a red horizontal looping stripe, baggy light blue farm pants, and orange and cream-colored farm shoes.
"Rolf, you received a letter!" Came the wisened old voice of his dear Nana. After going to receive the letter, Rolf went to the privacy of his room to read through what was inside. His eyes widened as it was revealed to be the same letter that the Eds each individually got.
"An offering from the Gods!"
Without thinking twice, Rolf immediately got packing as he decided to let his family know first.
"Mama! Papa! Nana! Nano! Rolf has been given an offer to attend a special school that caters to the ones of special talents! Rolf requires plenty of food for the trip to start his own farm when he arrives!"
In an apartment complex somewhere in another part of Wisconsin, three young men who were best friends and roommates were currently relaxing. They weren't ordinary boys and because of that, they found solace in each other when they first came into each other's lives.
The first boy was currently playing on a Nintendo Switch. He had pale skin from little to no sun exposure, hazelnut-colored eyes covered by a pair of oval glasses, messy and curly black hair, and was currently wearing a black turtleneck sweater, blue jeans, and black dress shoes. Around him were various video game cartridges.
The second boy was busy putting together an OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon model together. He had mocha brown skin, dark brown eyes, ragged dark brown almost black hair, and was wearing a black muscle shirt, military camo cargo pants, and boots. Around him were fully assembled models of different robots and vehicles.
The third and final boy was checking out a Yugioh tournament recording on his computer. He had fair caucasian skin, light-brown eyes with a small dot in the bottom right area of his left iris, and short black hair. He wore a grey t-shirt with the Smash Bros logo on it, an Old Navy jacket worn on top of it, wearing only the right half while the hood rested on his left shoulder like a pauldron and the rest of it draped behind him like a cape, black shorts, and white sneakers. Around him were stacks of cards.
A doorbell rang to get the three boys' attention as the first boy paused his game on his Switch to go and get it since his friends were busy with their own thing. Seeing that it was a letter addressed to all three of them, he opened it up and scanned the contents before perking up.
"Hey, fellas, listen to this!"
The second and third boys stopped what they were doing and made their way over to see what their friend was on about. They all read the contents and looked at each other as if contemplating the offer written in the letter.
"What do you guys think?" The first boy, Ben Shigura, asked his two friends.
"I'd say it's pretty suspicious, but I figure why not? Nothing interesting has happened here for the past year or so." The second boy, Enrico Aquilla Azkalero, said with a shrug.
"This just might be our big break, guys. There just might be more people like us!" The third boy, Chris Wright or Caw as his friends called him, said with a smile.
"Still, to think we'd be invited by one of the prestigious schools in the country. That's like a... a one in a million chance!" Ben said, still rather surprised by the offer.
"Well, chance or not, it'd be rude to turn these people down," Enrico noted. "How fast can you guys pack your bags?
Devil Dragon Stand Knight's A/N:
And so, the Eds plus Rolf and three young boys who aren't what they seem will be going to a special academy catered to all sorts of unique individuals. What adventures will be found there and what new friends and foes will they make?
This is my revival effort for Dreamworld Paradox and helping me out are Enriks-Da-Writer (Who owns Enrico) and Caw-zrs6 (Who owns Chris). There will be other OCs who belong to good friends of mine that will appear later down the line but not until later.
Enriks-Da-Writer's A/N:
Yeah, let's hope this doesn't get shagged by hubris and blindness again. Also, I didn't even try with that school name. Literally just booted up a fantasy name generator and made it as official sounding as possible.
Caw-zrs6's A/N:
Same here, Enrico. That's the thing about Ben, he sometimes doesn't really tend to think things through, although he is getting better at it. Anyways, I'll be providing the basis on how each chapter will go, as well as doing various little touch-ups in order to ensure that you, the reader, have a wonderful experience reading through our revival.
