Sully: Hey, guy in green. You're one of the new recruits, yeah?

Link: ...Link.

Sully: Oh, you're that 'hero' that's got everyone talkin'... Huh, I was expectin' a guy with a little more meat on his bones... not a pretty boy in a weird get-up...

Link: ...

Sully: Let's see what you got! I'm not gonna pass up on the chance to humble a 'legendary hero'!

Link: ...All right. Don't hold back, then.

-Scene Fade Out/In-

Sully: *pant* Fine... I yield...

Link: Phew... Good fight...

Sully: Damn... I really lost... to you?... You pack way more of a punch than I expected...

Link: ...I'm not sure why you care so much about my appearance... but you should've given it your all from the start... You're a very skilled fighter... The match would have been a lot closer if you hadn't misjudged me.

Sully: Tch! Yeah... I get it. Gods, I should know better than anyone not to look down on the opponent before the fighting's even begun.

Link: ...Why's that?

Sully: Cuz I'm a woman. Can't tell you how many meatheads I've come across that thought I'd be child's play before I kicked their asses to the curb. Despite all that, here I am thinking the same damn things about you.

Link: Let them think what they want... The more my enemies underestimate me, the easier it is for me to win... I might not need that advantage in every encounter, but... when it comes to life-or-death situations... I'll take anything I can get.

Sully: Hmm... That's a fine way to look at things, I suppose. Hey... Sorry 'bout judging you too quickly. Hearing everyone around camp talk about this 'Hero of Time' was starting to annoy me, I think.

Link: ...All good. To be honest... I'd also prefer if people stop... talking about me so much...

Sully: Hah! What's this? Can't handle the attention?

Link: Well, I... I can handle it... but-

Sully: Ah, is this a weakness I've found? Maybe if I sweet-talk ya enough, I'll have the upper hand in our next bout! Of course, that shouldn't work on a legendary hero like you, eh Link? Not someone as handsome, brave, strong, and heroic as-

Link: P-Please stop...

Sully: Psh! Just messin' with ya. Guess that's all it takes to get you flustered. Your face got red real quick!... But seriously, I promise to give you a real fight soon. I admit, treating you like a pushover was a mistake on my part. You'll get my best next time!

Link: ...Looking forward to it.

Sully: Link! You out here!? Hel-looo!?

Link: ...Over here, Sully. Is something wrong?

Sully: Nah, nothing serious or anything. No one saw you at dinner, that's all.

Link: Ah... That's for me, then?

Sully: Sure is! Robin asked me to grab some stew and get it to ya. Said you'd probably be out in the forest.

Link: ...Sorry, I... tend to lose track of time when I'm training... Thanks for bringing me this.

Sully: It's fine. I'm the same way. Once I get into the zone, it's hard to take me out of it! Do try and show up from now on, though. I won't keep filling in as your mother.

Link: ...Will do, Sully. Thanks again...

Sully: ...Hey... Before I leave, can I ask you something?

Link: ...Sure.

Sully: What's with the odd look? The green tunic... the silly hat... the pointed ears... I mean, I get that you're from another world or whatever, but... I'm still pretty curious.

Link: ...I grew up in a place called the 'Kokiri Forest'... It's inhabited by the Kokiri, a tribe of people that keep the appearance of children no matter how much they age... This is just the style of clothing that they wear.

Sully: Huh... makes sense why you spend so much time out here, then... Hold on, though... What about you? You're no child. Are you not one of them?

Link: ...For most of my life, I... thought that I was... Turns out, I'm a Hylian, not a Kokiri.

Sully: Does that bother you? You grew up while they stayed the same size. I'd bet your old forest friends started to treat you differently once they found out.

Link: I don't think they meant anything by it... but yeah, they seemed... apprehensive of me, afterwards. Of course... I was already a bit of an outcast even as a child for... other reasons...

Sully: What about these 'Hylians'? Do they dress differently from you?

Link: ...I'd say they dress like you all do. Besides the pointed ears... a typical Hylian would fit in just fine in this world.

Sully: So, even though you're not one of those forest kids, you keep on dressing like a giant green bean, huh?

Link: ...Heh... I wouldn't put it quite like that...

Sully: Why? Wouldn't it be easier if you dressed like you're expected to? Everyone in the Shepherds respects you for fighting with us, Link. I can tell you, though, that you get a fair amount of strange looks in that outfit. I know that I was surprised when I first saw you.

Link: ...That's true, but-

Sully: Even in Hyrule, you must have stuck out like a sore thumb! What I'm asking is, why put up with it? Don't you get tired of-

Link: This is just who I am, Sully. Perhaps I do look a little odd to some people, but I'm okay with that. I'm... comfortable with it.

Sully: ...

Link: Sully... Is this something that you-

Sully: Hey, sorry for grilling you with all these personal questions. You've... given me something to think about... I'm gonna head back. Enjoy your stew...

Link: ...Hmm...

Link: ...Mind if I join you?

Sully: ...Oh... Hey, Link. Hell, you might as well. I got this campfire roarin' all by myself, but not a soul to enjoy it with.

Link: ...I'd be glad to, then.

Sully: ...

Link: ...Sully, would you be okay... answering a few questions for me?

Sully: My turn to be interrogated?

Link: Y-You don't... have to answer... I'm also fine just sitting by the fire with you.

Sully: Nah... that wouldn't be right. I asked you all that private crap the other day, so fair's fair. Go ahead, shoot.

Link: Alright... Do you feel... out of place, Sully? Like you don't fit in, maybe?

Sully: ...What gives you that impression?

Link: When I told you why I wear clothes like this... and how I don't care about what others think of my appearance... you reacted strongly... It makes me wonder if you're bothered by a similar problem.

Sully: Damn... I really am easy to read, huh?... Yeah, you hit the nail on the head with that one.

Link: ...What makes you feel that way?

Sully: I'm a woman, but I don't act like one. Hell, I don't look much like one either... The Shepherds do a fine job of making me feel welcome, but, compared to your average lady, I'm just a brute.

Link: ...

Sully: I hate it when people look down on me because of how I look or how I act. Some folks think that, 'cuz I'm a woman, I should be more feminine. Then, there's others who look at me strangely when I do change the way I am since they're so used to me. It's so damn frustrating! I want to be a warrior that everyone respects... a warrior that isn't sold short just because of my gender... but I want to show my feminine side sometimes, too!

Link: If it were possible... I'd take you to the Gerudo Wasteland in Hyrule. It's home to a warrior race composed of only women, and they're some of the strongest, most fearsome people I've come across.

Sully: A warrior race of only women? Hah, sounds like I'd fit in well with 'em.

Link: You definitely would... They don't let themselves be limited by what others might expect of them. Despite keeping their bodies in prime condition, they still find plenty of enjoyment in clothing and beauty.

Sully: Sounds like I could also learn a lot from 'em...

Link: As for your problem... You know what I'm going to tell you already... don't you?

Sully: Yeah... I do. It's your easygoing outlook on all this that's got me questioning it so much. You don't care how others look at you or what they think of you. When your opponent holds you in low regard, you view that as an opportunity. I wish I had that same mindset, but my damn ego is too proud to give in...

Link: ...You only need to work at it, then.

Sully: Work at what? My mindset?

Link: ... You're one of the most disciplined soldiers in this army, Sully. I'm sure you understand better than anyone what kind of willpower is needed to hone the body... You say that your ego is too proud? Then... start training and improving your mentality. It can be done, as long as you're willing to put in the effort.

Sully: *sigh* I don't think you realize how stubborn I can be about this kinda thing... but all right... I'll do it. My goal is to strengthen my mind until I won't be bothered by some dumb-ass who can't keep their opinions private. I won't allow these idiots to keep me from being my ideal self!

Link: I wholeheartedly support you.

Sully: Oh yeah? Then, you wouldn't mind being my coach, right?

Link: ...Me? Your... coach?

Sully: Hell yeah! I need someone to tell me when I'm getting too full of it. If I'm gonna be battling against my own damn thoughts, I'll need help knowing when I'm losin'. You'll be able to keep me honest... Keep me on the right track, y'know? What do you say, pretty boy?

Link: ...Well... I did say I'd support you, so... sure, why not?

Sully: Link! We need to talk.

Link: Uh... Sure, Sully. Could you... let me into my tent for a minute, though? I just need to-

Sully: Not until I've said my piece!

Link: A-All right...

Sully: I'm going to Hyrule with you.

Link: ...

Sully: ...

Link: ...What?

Sully: You heard me, damn it!

Link: I-I did... but...

Sully: So, will you take me or not?

Link: ...I... I don't know... I need to... process this...

Sully: ...Look... I know this is coming out of nowhere, but I'm not sitting on my thoughts any longer. When I see something that I want, I do whatever it takes to get it. I'm sure as hell not gonna pussyfoot around and let it pass me by.

Link: ...

Sully: Truth is... I don't really care about going to Hyrule. I've never been there, and I wouldn't give a damn if I never get the chance to see it.

Link: Then... why-

Sully: But I do care about you... It... really caught me off guard when I realized how much I care about you. I mean, c'mon, it's not that much of a surprise... is it? You're the only person I know who really gets me... Also doesn't hurt that you're able to kick my ass in a fight on most days...

Link: Wow...

Sully: Oh, wipe that damn grin off your face! I know I'm terrible with this mushy crap. Always have been... What's different now, though, is that I'm comfortable with it. I'm comfortable being... uncomfortable, and you're the one who inspired me to change in this way.

Link: ...I wasn't-

Sully: I've had my fair share of desperate men throw themselves at me. Not as many as a pretty princess would probably get, but still a few. And I told them all the same thing; 'You have to be better than me. Someone I can respect.' Well, I've known you for a while now, Link, and I can say with certainty that I respect you. A whole damn lot. So much so that... I think you're the one.

Link: I wanted to clarify that... I'm not smiling because I was making fun of you. I'm smiling because I'm happy, Sully... Very happy...

Sully: S-So... You like me too!?

Link: I think you're amazing, Sully. It's difficult finding something about you that isn't amazing... Your work ethic... your confidence... your strength...

Sully: Even my looks? I'm definitely not that-

Link: You're beautiful whether you're wearing a flashy dress or a suit of blood-stained armor... I knew this from the moment I met you.

Sully: ...W-Well... Damn. You sure shut me up quick...

Link: This is really what you want, though? You might not ever get to see Ylisse again if you come with me...

Sully: I'll miss the folks here, for sure, but I just... want this more. Rest of the Shepherds might think I'm crazy for jumping ship to another world, but I don't pay attention to that kind of chatter anymore... All that matters is you n' me.

Link: Let's... Let's do it, then. When the fighting ends... we'll go to Hyrule.

Sully: Phew! Man, I feel great after that! How 'bout a match then, pretty boy? Let's show the rest of these slackers who the strongest pair in the Shepherds is!
