Fenrir's return wasn't spectacular and exciting, he simply was back. After taking Remus to see Tom, Fenrir headed off to find Nathair, who Tom told him was in the library, not that he needed to, Fenrir wasn't at all surprised that Nathair would be there. The teen spent most of his time there that he could even rival that mudblood Granger with his love of learning, but unlike her thankfully he didn't sound like he swallowed the books.

Fenrir didn't alert Nathair to his presence after he had found him in his favorite part of the library, he wasn't like he usually was, he was twitchy and distracted. Nathair was usually still like a statue except for when he turned a page or wrote a note about what he was reading, you could tell he was distracted and uneasy. Uncomfortable at his Mate's unusual and distressing behavior Fenrir stepped out of the shadows and from between the rows of shelves he had been using to hide his presence. It didn't take long for Nathair to spot him and Fenrir was nearly knocked over from the force of Nathair running into him and throwing himself at Fenrir.

Nathair held onto Fenrir as tight as he could as if he was afraid Fenrir would disappear if he let go. It was only after an uncomfortable amount of time had passed that Fenrir spoke up asking to be let go, uncomfortable because the position was held so long and it wasn't exactly a comfortable one to hold for an extended period of time.

"Do you think you could loosen your grip, I'm losing the feeling in my arms," requested Fenrir as he looked down at his chest where Nathair's face was buried.

Nathair jumped back, shocked back into reality by Fenrir's voice, "sorry." Nathair had no idea what had come over him that would cause him to rush at and hold onto Fenrir like that, but he supposed it was just one of those things that you had to deal with being Mated to a magical creature. Of course he had learned all there was to know about Mates and Mating bonds and everything that went with them, but it was one thing to know and another to experience.

"Don't be sorry love, I feel the same way… have ever since you went back to Hogwarts. I worry about you being so close to that demon," said Fenrir, his words filled with worry for his future Mate. Fenrir closed the gap between them and rested his hand on Nathair's smooth and pale cheek as he tilted the young man's face towards his. Nathair wasn't all that close to seventeen but his Mate was becoming less of a child every day and he couldn't deny that his Mate was ever appealing to the eyes… It didn't help that his inner wolf knew he was right in front of him and therefore desired his Mate so strongly that Fenrir was very glad he was so strong that he could control himself. Even if his Mate was young and was to be his in the end it didn't make him a rapeist or pedofile. "It's something that happens when Mates are apart, it gets easier the longer a pair is bonded but that unease, fear, is always there… you just have to remember that you will be together again. It's something all Mates must live with as it wouldn't be feasible to be together for every second of our lives."

"I felt like I couldn't keep still… like there was something wrong…"

"That'll become stronger after we've bonded, when you come of age, and even then it'll take a few years or longer to become easier to stand."

"I guess I'm in for a difficult few years."

"It'll be easier after you finish your job at Hogwarts this year then again when we Mate," as Fenrir continued to hold Nathair's face in his hand as the other hand held Nathair close to him. The warmth of their bodies were making them both hot with desire but they knew better than to give in and broke apart, putting a few feet between each other.

"Well… Remus and your father were hoping to see you and I should get to my rooms and freshen up. Most werewolf packs aren't the most clean and health minded and I do feel like I could use a hot shower."

"Of course… I'll see you at dinner?" Nathair asked, hope coloring his voice as he picked up the book he wasn't doing too well with trying to read and tucked it into his robe.

"Yes, I think I'll ask the elves for a light snack before I shower so I'll see you tonight."

Nathair nodded and before a small bit of Gryffindor courage disappeared he quickly kissed Fenrir's cheek and dashed out of the library, his cheeks a flame with embarrassment. The heat of the flush didn't cool down until Nathair neared his father's office and even then he didn't knock until he was sure he wasn't blushing, there was no need to look over excited in front of his father, not to mention strangers. While Remus Lupin had been friends with his parents and was the Mate of another of his parents' friends Nathair had never met the man except when he was a baby and that didn't really count.

A quick knock and Nathair had his eyes on what he could only assume was Remus Lupin. He was well dressed for a werewolf, who were mostly clothed in what had to be second hand clothes at best as most people refused to hire werewolves and if they did most couldn't keep their job more than a few months before being discovered as it wasn't easy to hide with needing every full moon off. Even though the man was better dressed, he was unhealthily thin and while he had quite a few smile wrinkles, his eyes were darkened with a lingering sadness that made them look like a dark amber.

"Nathair… do come in. Remus please let me re-introduce you to my son Nathair," said Tom as he stood and gestured to his son.

"Yes, I doubt you would remember me that last time I saw you, you not only had another name and family but you were just a small babe," said Remus with a distant sadness in his eyes. "I regret not being able to be there for you or to see you grow up. As I was explaining you your father you were gone before any of us got to the house and with all the loses, your parents, my Mate, you my Lord, and you Nathair, I went mad for awhile and it took me quite some time to get over the pain and come back to myself."

"I understand and like my father I don't blame you… everything is to be blamed on that twinkly eyed twit. I hope both you and Sirius will be better now that you'll be back together again. I've recently found out about my own Mate and a few days were difficult enough to be apart and we haven't even bonded yet."

"Huh… yes. I understand when you met Siri that it didn't go all that well, not that I'm much surprised he always had a rather narrow minded view of things and his dislike of all things dark never helped much either," said Remus as they all sat down to continue talking. "His relationship with his brother and his disappearance didn't help matters. They didn't get long but he blamed everything he could on the dark side."

"Yes, too bad he wasn't like his brother Regulus… he was one of the best that had joined me before my disappearance."

"I've never heard of Regulus, is he dead?"

"Yes, I wanted to ask that as well," said Remus as he looked rather concerned. "I didn't know much about him but for a short time he was like a little brother to me."

"No, something I let Sirius know when he had gotten better and was on the mend," said Tom as he got a devious look on his face. "He has been very loyal and as far as I know hasn't wavered in the job I gave him many years ago."

"What are you talking about father?"

"Yes well I haven't spoken about him because he's hiding in plain sight and is going to stay that way until it's time to give Dumbledore a shock."

The smile on Tom's face promised chaos and destruction and gave Nathair a warm feeling that showed his father's and Bellatrix's influence on his sadistic side.

HP/FG - TW

The last week of winter hols went by rather fast and before Nathair knew it was New Year's, or the night before. Everyone had gathered at Malfoy manor to carry out the New Year's tradition, a series of rituals meant to bless the coming year and help renew the earth's magic. As they gathered outside around a huge bonfire as they carried out the rituals. Most of the rituals involved the burning of magical plants and what not, most while saying spells in latin.

Narcissa, Lucius, and Severus had gone to get Bella, Remus and Sirius, and a few other death eaters from the safe house so they could participate together, not that they couldn't have done so with everyone else that was at the safe house as they did their own series of rituals along with all the other people who hadn't turned their back on magic and remembered the importance of giving back to magic.

Remus and Sirius were living in the set of rooms Sirius' had been given to live in at the safe house, though had separate bedrooms for the time being as they got reacquainted with each other after so much time apart, and after talking with Tom, they decided they were going to join them for the New Year rituals. Nathair had spoken with Remus a few times, as he wasn't restricted like his Mate and was able to go where he wanted, and they had started a tentative friendship. Remus had been asked by Tom, who knew of his advanced knowledge to lend whatever help he could to Nathair's education. Remus had been rather shocked by Nathair's skill and power as well as how advanced he was in his magical learning and had done what he could to teach the teen. Which with the short amount of time before he returned to Hogwarts didn't give them much time in the present, but the months before the end of the school year would give Remus time to plan more to teach Nathair.

Nathair met his father and Fenrir in the entrance hall as they waited for the others to join them before they headed outside to carry on with the rituals. The three were wearing the traditional white robes made from a thin linen and equally thin slippers, it was best to wear the purest clothes, or better yet no clothes at all, to get in touch with the magic of the new year and allow it to flow around and through them easily without much unwanted interference.

Soon Bella, Narcissa, Lucius, Severus, Draco, Rabastan, Rodolphus, Barty, Remus and Sirius arrived in the same white linen robes and they all walked out into the cold snowy grounds. They all quickly grew uncomfortable from the cold but the most uncomfortable was Sirius who had not participated in any new year rituals since before he left home. However, since his rescue from Azkaban and new view towards magic he was willing to take part in the rituals. Barty Crouch jr was uncomfortable for a much different reason, he had been in love with Rabastan for years before being sentenced to Azkaban and since their escape the two had started courting each other and this was the first time Barty had joined in any family like traditions other than the few he had done as a child.

Far enough away from the manor, greenhouses, and gardens was a large pile of wood for the bonfire, a large copper cauldron, and everything else they would need for their rituals. Nathair. Tom, Lucius, and Severus all grabbed one of each of the four elements as the group gathered around the copper cauldron before starting the ritual.

"Terra mater, patrem caelo,

Placere benedicere de adventu novus annus,

Benedicite caeli in vita nostris,

Benedicite ignis et nostris cordibus vestris,

Benedicite aquae in animabus nostris,

Et magicae terra benedicat nobis."

Soon they all fell into a hypnotic state and continued performing the rituals and it wasn't until the sun rose that they finished and went to bed both exhausted in body and mind but alive with the power and strength of magic. As they had thanked and given back what they could to magic, magic had given back to them and had set upon restoring their connection to magic, for it was a witches and wizards connection to magic that kept it alive and them in touch with magic itself.
