My Love. Boarded train to Charlottetown at 935am on 30th, will arrive by 1stJl at 11am. Can't wait to see you. Meet me at station café. I LOVE YOU.

Gil.

Anne cannot hide her excitement while she sits on one of the two-seater booth in the station café in Charlottetown Train Station as Gilbert asked her to on his telegram before he left Toronto yesterday.

To make herself busy, she reads his telegram over and over again, stands, walks around, looks outside the window as if willing the time to make its turn faster and let her meet the love of her life soon – not that she hadn't waited so much already, but knowing that they are only moments away from seeing each other once again, after the long dreadful months of separation brings her soul outside her body in excitement and all other feelings in between.

But doing these things doesn't calm her nerves at all and as the time tick its turn to eleven in the morning, she is quite sure that her heart has been beating the same rate as the train. So, she stands up and pace to and fro some more when she heard the faint whistle of the train slowly filing all her senses.

She hastily gets her bag and hat, went to the counter, and pay for her tea and scones she ordered over an hour ago that was never touched anyway.

She run her way to the platform caring a little less about her "not so lady like demeanor" and muttering her apologies to all the people she has bumped into while the train travels closely to halt. She was panting when she stopped at the end of the platform so she can see all the carriage as the train passes her by.

Like a little girl in a candy store, she can't help but jump up and down as she surveys the inside of the carriages in the little space the window of the train provided from the outside.

One, two, three, four, five… her concentration is nothing to be contend with trying to check each and every passenger inside the train hoping to see Gilbert before he actually does sees her. She just hoped that he opted to seat in a window seat on the right side of the cabin. And then… six, seven, eight… there he is – the love of her life. The sun to her skies, the stars and moon in her universe. The summer in her life. The only person she can imagine her romance – not the tragical one – fulfilled. There he is Gilbert Blythe, smiling his charming smile, full of love and adoration just for her, only her…

The long journey from Toronto to Charlottetown is very tiring especially for someone who just came literally from a dreadful final examination and is taking extra units on his medical degree.

He has been exhausted with all the late night studying and practical and written exams he has done for the past couple of weeks just to make sure that he maintains his spot in the U of T Chancellor Awardees. It is the most prestigious award the whole University offers to its students as it entails a scholarship grant that will help him with the expenses and secures him an apprenticeship position in Toronto General Hospital which is the biggest and advance hospital within the region.

There are also renowned professors that works there in almost all medical fields and practices who are fond of him and are willing to impart their gained knowledge to him through the years. Gilbert feels so blessed meeting these people, he is surrounded by many that believes in his intelligence, perseverance and capability. He always thanks his lucky star that after living most of his pre-adult life in misery and grief, now with Anne, his medical school and budding career, a family he has gained after losing his own, he always thinks that everything is at last falling into places. Everything he has dreamed of and wish for is already in his life, especially Anne, his beacon and his love – his one and only love.

He worked hard to finish his studies as soon as possible because he wants to be with his family and with her. It has only been how many months – and mostly apart if he may add – that he and Anne finally got the courage to admit their feelings for each other, set things right and started courting. That blessed day that Diana talked him out in the train, when he run towards Anne and kissed her for the first time, that is the day he will always be thankful for.

And now, seeing an exuberant Anne Shirley-Cuthbert jumping up and down while ferociously waving her hand at him, with a smile he would pay millions for to see each day for the rest of his life, all the exhaustion he felt has literally gone away and was replaced by happiness, excitement, and love. Love for the only woman he will only love for the rest of his life.

When the train came to a full stop, he saw her run towards the entrance of the carriage he is in. He stood up very quickly from his seat, got his bag from the overhead cabin and started walking towards the door, he wanted to be the first to disembark the train. He itched to hug and kiss her for the past days, smell her sweet scent, feel her warm and soft body against him and kiss her lips and smooth skin. He missed her so much it aches him physically.

"Anne! Oh, Anne, my love!" he yelled as he came barreling towards her and hugged her so tight, she almost stumbled if not for his strong grip. "I missed you so much, my love." he murmured on her hair.

"I missed you so, Gil. So, so much." she counter then she discreetly planted a kiss on his exposed neck. He felt shivers all over his body. "I missed you every day." Anne added as she tightens her arms embracing his waist and buried her face more on his chest. "You smell so good." she added on a muffled voiced. "Back at you, my love. I miss everything about you." he whispers in her ears.

"Hold on!" she squeaks while leaning back slightly to properly see his face without breaking their embrace. Gilbert raised his left brow as a questioning gesture to her sudden reaction to something he doesn't know. "What?!" he asked.

"You've gotten taller from the last time I saw you!" she said wide-eyed, her blue orbs shinning with amazement. "And you cut your hair! Short!" she said incredulously while trying to run her fingers through what so little has been left from his mop of hair and then pout.

"Whhaat? Do I look stupid with this hair?" he chuckled and then kissed her hard. "Stop pouting." he whispered while looking intently in her eyes.

She knows this. She knows full well what her mindless pouting or lip biting do to this man, it was demonstrated as often as he caught her doing it. "Stop! I know that look." she said while looking at his now dark, dark brown eyes. "Just to remind you future Dr. Blythe, we are in a train station, in the middle of the majority of Charlottetown's population, not married nor engage to be of such display of affection." she said sternly, indicating a quality of a newly graduate of teaching major. She as well worked herself to the bone so she can finish her studies at Queens earlier than the usual.

"Oh…" he muttered. "Yes OH, so if you are quite contented with your welcome hug and kiss, shall we leave the platform and let these people pass through and go on about their day?" she added while batting her lashes at him, trying to look cute.

He chuckled and let her go – only half heartedly though. He took her hands to his and kissed her knuckles as he cannot bare to not connect with her in any way. "Where are your bags?" he asked as they started to take steps away from the platform. "Oh, I only have these." she said raising her satchel a small bag. "I had my other things transported to Avonlea with Diana the other day as she travelled in a carriage with Aunt Jo and Cole." she explained.

"That's a better idea. I don't want you carrying so much around." he smirked.

"What do you mean?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Don't fret my love." he said hurriedly as he knows where that tone is going. "I didn't say that of any ill comment, I'm just glad because, I can do… this," he said snaking his arms around her waist making them more closer while walking. Anne did the same and smiled contentedly. She gave him a quick kiss on his cheek before asking, "Are you hungry, love?"

"Ravenous, actually. I cannot bring myself to eat anything at all the whole journey because I am so excited to see you after all those months we are apart. Apparently letters and words is far more inadequate than being together like this." he said earnestly then gave her temple a lingering kiss which made Anne's hair stand with his ardor.

"Well, that can be arranged! I haven't bought our tickets back home yet and we still have plenty of time to get lunch and get you some rest before we start another train journey to Avonlea." she said with a hint of excitement and mischievousness in her eyes.

"Why Ms. Shirley Cuthbert, I would love to do anything with you." he looked at her sideways with that stupid grin Anne hates and loves at the same time. She rolled her eyes as a response.

"You stupid, stupid boy." she said with a stupid grin in her face as well. They walked down towards the Charlottetown Square in their own bubble of happiness, unbothered and unaware of everyone else around them. Summer breeze is in the air, and it made this moment even special to them both.

"Going home to Avonlea will never be the same again." Gilbert said to himself as he raises his face towards the sky.
