Hello, my fellow readers. This is the first chapter of my experimental fanfic "The Mischievous Shield Hero". Since it's experimental like "Avengers: Assemble on Remnant", don't expect many chapters yet. This crossover fanfic happened when I rewatched "Rising of the Shield Hero" again on Netflix to give me a refresher basically for Season 2. I hope you enjoy the mischievous god's journey in this world as a redeemed villain.
THE MISCHIEVOUSNESS OF THE SHIELD HERO
CHAPTER 1: IN ANOTHER WORLD
This was one of the darkest days that he ever experienced. Loki was choked by the most feared being in the universe, Thanos the Mad Titan, before slowly cracking his neck soon after. It may seem only seconds to everyone, but it was hours for him. As he laid down on the ground, he couldn't move as his life was slowly draining from his physical body. He also couldn't properly hear anything that Thanos was saying, but he knew it was about him to torment Thor, his adoptive brother.
When the gigantic spacecraft was slowly collapsing from the Power Stone that Thanos activated, he slowly drifted away until he felt a hug from someone. He knew it was his brother. Loki wanted to cry as he was going to depart from his family, but his dying body wouldn't let him. He shouldn't have played as a hero, but he couldn't bear to see his brother in pain. If it was in the past, he wouldn't have cared. He always saw himself as inferior to his brother, but it doesn't mean he didn't love him as a family.
'Goodbye, brother. I hope you stop him.' Loki believed that Thor would survive the spacecraft's destruction as his brother survived something worse than a 'simple' explosion.
After the spacecraft's destruction, Loki was drifting around in the darkness. There were no stars, moons, or planets. There was nothingness yet he was still unable to move. He wondered if he was in Hel and this was his punishment which is being alone for eternity. He smiled in his thoughts as it was a fitting punishment for his crimes.
He manipulated Thor in confronting his biological father Laufey after he ruined his coronation albeit unintentionally, attempted to kill his brother and friends via The Destroyer to silence and 'punish' them, killed numerous people on Earth and invaded the planet with an alien army until he was stopped by the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, unintentionally killed his own mother after sending Kurse to kill or capture Jane, banished his adoptive father and took over the throne of Asgard where the realm prosper in peace while other realms were plotting to invade the realm, and indirectly releasing his adoptive sister Hela the Goddess of Death from Hel which killed innocent guards, including his former friends, The Warriors Three.
He deserved this punishment in the afterlife so he doesn't have any regrets, except for one. He wished to redeem himself with the crimes he heinously committed. He wants to wipe it out of his red, as Black Widow would say, before he passes away permanently. But it's impossible now since his soul is drifting around the darkness.
"Loki…" An unknown voice called out to him.
After hearing the voice, Loki immediately woke up. He was able to move this time, but he was still floating in the darkness. He looked around, confused, and wondered who called him.
"Hello? Who's there?" Loki asked, as he conjured a dagger. "Show yourself!"
Nobody responded to him. Loki then saw an object across him. He swam towards it which Thor would definitely laugh at his awkward swimming. He was never a good swimmer to begin with though he isn't entirely bad at it. Anyway, he reached the object which was a book.
"A book? Why is the book in Hel?" Loki asked, as he grabbed the book and read the title. "'The Four Legendary Weapons'. Is this some kind of a fantasy book that humans usually read? Why is it in Hel?"
Loki began to read the book out of curiosity and boredom since there's nothing to do anyway. The premise of the book said that four heroes from otherworlds were summoned in another world to save people from the Waves of Apocalyptic Catastrophe. The four heroes bore their own legendary weapons - The Sword, the Spear, the Bow, and the Shield.
"This seems interesting. A shield is a weapon. If I didn't know who Sif and Captain America were, I would've ridiculed whoever the author is, that a shield isn't a weapon. Their shields are incredibly painful despite their appearance." Loki was interested in the plot so far, as he flipped to the next page and found something odd. "Why… is this blank? Did the author seriously publish this without any wording? Humans are really scums sometimes."
Suddenly, a light shone from the book. Loki instinctively threw the book away from him as he conjured two daggers again. The light continued to shine despite being meters away from him. It then began to consume the darkness and soon him.
"What in all the Nine Realms is going on!?" Loki asked before being consumed by the light.
Loki opened his eyes and saw several hooded humans standing in front of him. Their faces were pure of joy and awe as they were pleased with themselves while he was genuinely confused on where he was.
'What is this place? Who are these people?' Loki asked himself in his thoughts.
Loki looked down at himself. He was still wearing the same clothing the day he died to the Mad Titan. He can still also use his powers, but he didn't reveal it to anyone yet. He stared at the four hooded humans who were wielding three legendary weapons, which widened his eyes and looked down on his arm. There was a shield that was attached to it.
'Hold on a minute… don't tell me…' Loki realized the current situation.
"It was a successful ritual!" The leader of the hooded figures exclaimed. "Oh please, heroes. Please save this world!"
"What do you mean by that?" The Bow Hero asked curiously while playing with the bowstring, which slightly reminds Loki of Clint Barton who he brainwashed before and the one who fired an explosive arrow at his face for revenge.
"The reasons would be difficult to explain at the moment, but we have conducted an ancient ritual to summon you, the Four Legendary Heroes, to this world." The leader answered.
'I was right. I'm inside the story, or more like, I'm in another realm.' Loki said before slightly cringing at the word 'hero' since his older brother was the hero, not him. 'Why was I summoned in this realm? And how did they summon me? Can they use the Bifrost?'
More importantly, how was he still alive? He was clearly floating in Hel, if it was even Hel in the first place. These humans shouldn't have been able to resurrect and summon a ghost unless they have all the Infinity Stones. Was it even possible to resurrect the dead with the Infinity Stones?
"The very existence of this world currently hangs in the balance." The leader continued his explanation as he and his subordinates then bowed. "Please, heroes. Lend us your strength."
'You should've called the Avengers then, but I doubt they'll come since they have their hands full with Thanos right now.' Loki clenched his fist angrily after remembering the Mad Titan. 'I hope you'll lose, false god.'
"W-" The leader was interrupted by one of the heroes.
"I refuse." The Sword Hero refused the invitation, which Loki kinda reminded him of Sif, except she doesn't wear human clothing and her hair isn't short.
"Yes, same here." The Bow Hero agreed with the Sword Hero.
"Please return us to the world we came from." The Spear Hero agreed with the both of them.
Loki was going to agree as well since he doesn't belong here, but he remembered his only regret which was being unable to redeem from his heinous crimes. He isn't sure whether he wants to return back to Midgard or not, since he's probably dead already if he ever returns. He's just silently listening to the conversation in order to gather more information about the current situation.
The Sword Hero then pointed his sword at the hooded figures, "Don't you feel remorse for forcefully summoning us here without our consent?"
"And not to mention that we'll be thrown out immediately after restoring the peace without any rewards. We would've worked for free." The Bow Hero agreed with the other hero.
"How much of our demands are you willing to fulfill?" The Spear Hero asked curiously. "If we don't like your answer, we might not be so friendly."
Loki rolled his eyes, 'The three common traits of humans - greediness, selfishness, and pettiness. Why am I not surprised? The Avengers are opposite of them… and I'm a bit hypocritical right now, but my point still stands.'
"First, we would like to request an audience with the king of our country, Melromarc." The leader said. "Negotiations for rewards can proceed from there."
The Sword Hero scoffed, "Whatever. Perhaps we can consider that."
The three heroes then followed the leaders to the king while the fourth hero was processing the situation. He realized that this unknown realm was some kind of medieval era judging by the walls and clothing of the hooded figures. He also speculated that the other three heroes were Asians due to their appearance. Anyways, he should've heard about this realm through the Tesseract because of the current invasion or something, yet it's completely undiscovered from the rest of the planets.
"Oi, you coming?" The Spear Hero asked.
"I'll be there." Loki the Shield Hero said, as he then followed them far behind as he doesn't trust anyone in this new realm.
The four heroes walked down the hallways of the castle. Loki wasn't really impressed with the structure and decorations since Asgard was way more amazing than any human castles. It's also the fact that castles like this will one day fall into ruins in the near future like all the castles on Earth. The four heroes then stopped in front of the giant double doors.
As they stepped inside, the bright light from the sun shone at their face. They found themselves in a room filled with finely dressed nobles and soldiers. All of their eyes were directly at the heroes, specifically at the Shield Hero.
'I can tell by the glazes. It seems that I'm already targeted for unknown reasons.' Loki mentally said as he glared at the nobles who immediately changed and stared at the other heroes. [1]
The four heroes soon stopped in the presence of the king. Loki stared at the king's eyes. He could tell that the king wasn't pleased to see him. He doesn't know why but it must've been something to do with the shield. He already despised the king as he reminded him of what his older brother would've become if it weren't for his temporary banishment - a cruel and idiotic king.
"I am King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII." The king introduced himself to the heroes. "Heroes, we ask for your names."
"Ren Amaki, 16 years old, high school student." Ren the Sword Hero introduced himself.
"I'm Motoyasu Kitamura, 21 years old, university student." Motoyasu introduced himself.
"Then I guess I'm next. Itsuki Kawasumi, 17 years old, high school student as well." Itsuki the Bow Hero introduced himself.
"Ren, Motoyasu, and Itsuki." King Aultcray recalled their names, completely ignoring the God of Mischief as the nobles began angrily staring at the hero of the shield.
Loki smirked, 'So that's how you all play huh? You're going to really regret that.'
"Now we shall explain the situation." King Aultcray proceeds with the explanation. "Our country, Melromarc, and the world in which it resides is presently bound for destruction."
The three heroes then closely listen to the explanation while the mischievous god continues to observe his surroundings while also listening to the story.
The king explained that there is an apocalyptic prophecy for this world. According to it, the "Waves" which plunged this world into destruction will converge and crash in rapid succession. If the catastrophes from these Waves aren't stemmed, the world will be destroyed.
Since ancient times, each country has had a tool known as a Dragon Hourglass, and it indicates when the next wave will arrive. The first Wave struck Melromarc before the four heroes were summoned. The countries' knights and adventurers managed to repel the first Wave. However, the second and third Waves will be too tremendously powerful for them. Until all of the Waves have passed, the Hourglass will continue to turn. There's only less than one month until the second Wave arrives.
"We were complacent and underestimated the Waves." King Aultcray said while clenching his fist. "After we saw the true horrors of the Waves, we came to realize that only the Four Cardinal Heroes could combat them."
Loki was amused that the knights and adventurers wouldn't even try to repeal the second and third Wave despite having magical attributes and weapon mastery within them. The Avengers would've been able to handle them for a while and most of the team members don't even have any special abilities. He deemed this world's humans as weak compared to Earth and other planets. He couldn't believe the residents of this realm were so pathetic that they had to ask for help from teenagers. [2]
"We followed the records and summoned you. We have not a single moment to spare." King Aultcray continued.
"I understand the situation." Ren said. "I hope you aren't suggesting that you summoned me to work for no reward."
"Naturally, after the Waves have been successfully repelled, you will be provided with sufficient reward." An elderly noble said.
"Oh?" Motoyasu was now interested. "Well, if you promise, then sure."
"I'll cooperate as long as you stay on my good side, but don't expect any loyalty out of me." Ren agreed with the conditions.
"Yes, same here. Don't think you can pull a fast one on me." Itsuki threatened everyone, including the king.
Loki rolled his eyes, 'These guys think that they're better than everyone else, yet I also acted like them six years ago. I'm no different than them.'
"I'm glad that you accepted our request." King Aultcray said. "Now, heroes, open and confirm your statuses."
"What do you mean 'statuses'?" Motoyasu asked.
"Huh? You haven't noticed it yet?" Ren was surprised that his fellow heroes didn't understand. "Don't you see some kind of icon or whatever in the corner of your view?"
The two heroes were looking everywhere for the icon while Loki saw it already in the lower right corner. He saw it before when he was summoned, but he didn't think it was a huge deal.
"I see it now." Itsuki said.
"Try focusing your attention on it." Ren said, as the heroes did what he said.
Suddenly, a screen popped in front of them and Loki almost took out his dagger due to his instincts. He was genuinely confused about what he was seeing, but he stared at it with concentration.
LOKI LAUFEYSON
Level: 1
Age: 1,054 years old
Species: Frost Giant
Gender: Male
Equipment: Legendary Shield
XP: 0
HP: 230
MP: 400
Attack: 120
Defense: 100
Agility: 91
Dexterity: 98
Luck: 18
'Interesting.' Loki stared at his status screen. [3]
"Level 1? This is unsettling." Itsuki said.
"Yes, I don't know if we can fight like this." Motoyasu said. "More importantly, what is this?"
"It's a spell called 'Status' which only Heroes can cast." The elderly noble answered.
'I don't know what in the world is this, but my… 'status' or whatever humans call it is decent.' Loki then stared at the heroes. 'Why are they worried though?'
"So what are we going to do?" Itsuki asked.
"You will embark on adventures to develop the legendary weapon in your hands and strengthen it."
"So we aren't strong from the beginning?" Itsuki worriedly stared at his legendary bow.
'Can I even 'level' up with this shield? It's different from that soldier's weapon.' Loki stared at the shield before sighing as he secretly conjured a dagger. 'Okay. It seems I can still conjure my daggers.'[4]
"Alright. For now, we need to improve ourselves." Ren said.
"I guess grinding levels is all we can do." Itsuki said.
"So the four of us will form a party-" Motoyasu was interrupted by the elderly noble.
"Pardon the interruption, Heroes." The elderly noble said. "You will be forming separate parties and embark on separate adventures."
"And why is that?" Loki asked curiously, as the heroes were surprised since he didn't speak until now.
"According to the records, each legendary weapons' nature conflicts with the others." The elderly noble answered. "When they're in proximity, they mutually interfere with development."
'I see. But I can't tell if they're lying or the records are true.' Loki mentally said.
"Dusk will arrive soon. You should rest well tonight and embark on your adventures in the morning." King Aultcray said. "We shall assemble companions for your adventures by then."
A lady then walked up to the heroes, "I shall guide you to your rooms. This way, please."
The four heroes were shortly escorted in their rooms and given meals by the servants and maids. The heroes make themselves comfortable in the fancy guest room as they feast on royal meat and bread that are provided by the royal chefs.
Meanwhile, Loki distances himself from the humans as he goes towards the balcony for some fresh air while recalling what the people said while being escorted.
'They said they've summoned the Four Legendary Heroes!'
'All four? In our country?'
'Is that all right? That means the Shield Hero…'
Loki speculated that the four heroes aren't meant to be summoned in the same country, especially him. The four heroes were meant to be summoned in different countries with different heroes which means the king probably broke the rule and summoned all four of them in Melromarc due to desperation and an incoming humiliation he'll soon face.
Loki chuckled, 'I'll love to see that day.'
"They treat us well for being 'legendary' heroes." Motoyasu said. "The girl that brought us here is pretty cute and adorable."
"And the food tastes strange, but it's not entirely bad." Itsuki said.
'Food from Earth and Asgard were much better than whatever I tasted tonight.' Loki was disgusted by this world's food.
"I gotta say. This place has the same concept as Emerald Online, even the food looks the same." Motoyasu said.
"Emerald Online? What kind of game is that?" Itsuki asked.
"You don't know Emerald Online? It's a very popular game in our country. I've been playing it for a while now." Motoyasu answered.
Itsuki raised his eyebrow, "What are you talking about? This isn't an online game. This is clearly a game in the third dimension called 'Dimension Wave'."
"No, it's not." Ren disagreed. "This world is an RPG. It's very identical to Brave Star Online."
Motoyasu stood up, "Let's try to agree. An RPG is such and what I imagine, right? You know what it is too, don't you?"
There was a brief silence in the room while Loki was confused by their conversation the whole time. He guessed that these humans were probably talking about "video games" that he heard so much about from one of his brainwashed agents back in 2012.
"Just in case. Who's the current president of America?" Motoyasu asked. "Ready…"
The three heroes answered different questions which confused Loki since the president of America is Matthew Ellis after he won the election from Barack Obama. He learned about it from one of his brainwashed agents. Loki wondered why the humans answered differently. Was there a new president? Then, why did they answer three different names? He was slightly confused.
"Who is the commander of the army!?"
"What do you like the most!?"
"Who won the war against the West?"
"What is the name of the Prime Minister of Japan?"
Itsuki sighed as he took a seat, "It seems that we come from different Japans…"
"That's right, our answers were different from one another." Ren agreed with the Bow Hero.
"I thought we were from different regions, not different worlds." Motoyasu then realized the fourth hero. "Hold on, weren't there four of us?"
The three heroes then stared at Loki who was admiring the outside scenery as it slightly reminded him of home. He was in deep thought as he was surprised and shocked that the other three heroes were from different Earths, meaning that he isn't in his universe anymore. He finally knew why he didn't recognize this world because it never existed in his designated universe.
"Oi, aren't you too quiet? Can you speak?" Motoyasu asked with a rude tone.
"Yes, I can speak. I just prefer not speaking to strangers." Loki said, which slightly angered the Spear Hero by his tone.
Ren then observed the Shield Hero's accoutre, "You don't look like Japanese. Where are you from?"
Loki chuckled, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Are you done with questions now? I'll continue looking over the balcony. Thanks."
As Loki rolled his eyes and continued observing the scenery, the three heroes found the fourth hero to be quite rude. They could tell that he isn't a friendly type judging by his attitude. They prefer if they wouldn't get too close to people like him.
Motoyasu scoffed, 'I'm grateful that we wouldn't form a party together, especially with a guy like him. And the fact he has a shield…'
"All right, we should sleep now." Ren ordered his fellow heroes. "We have a big adventure ahead of us tomorrow."
The two heroes agreed with him as they headed into their rooms, leaving the plates and remaining food on the table for the servants to clean up. Meanwhile, Loki stayed behind as he doesn't trust the room he was given by the king considering he's currently being despised. He'll sleep in the living room instead as the area is big enough for fighting potential intruders.
"I should be sleeping as well." Loki said, as he laid down on the sofa.
After quietly sleeping on the sofa, Loki began to have a nightmare. He found himself back at the Commodore, which was filled with corpses of the Asgardians. He looked around the gigantic spaceship and saw Thor who was immobilized by Maw. As he ran towards his brother, he was grabbed in the neck by Thanos. He was starting to feel the unbearable pain again as he tried to wiggle out like before, but he was unable to. Then, his neck was snapped which caused him to wake up from his nightmares.
Loki gasped as he touched his throat, "W-Why… was… I… h-having… t-t-that dream…?" [5]
For the first time in his life, Loki was afraid of dying. He didn't want to experience it again when his slow death was too painful for anyone, even to a self-proclaimed god. He rushed back to the balcony to have some fresh air.
"Damn you, Thanos." Loki cursed at Thanos as his entire body was glowing green from anger before he calmed down by using his mother's breathing techniques that she taught him when he was a child.
Loki stared at the scenery once again, as he began to think about his family - Thor, Odin, Frigga, and all the Asgardians. He missed them very much and would love to see them again. He wouldn't like to stay in this wretched realm due to the immense gaze from the nobles. He would prefer choosing Midgard, as he actually committed a crime for the humans to despise him. He wants to be with his family once again.
Loki shook his head, "And that'll be impossible. I don't even know if I'm going to be alive if I return to my universe. I wouldn't want to stay in a voided place for eternity."
Loki already decided that he'll fulfill a role as the 'Shield Hero' in order to redeem himself for his wrongdoings back on Earth. This was a more deserving punishment than stuck in the void for eternity.
"What should I do?" Loki asked himself as he couldn't sleep due to the nightmare.
Loki went outside of the guest room to sneak into the royal library. He wants to learn more about this realm in order to survive. He's aware that he'll be humiliated by the king one day, so the citizens of Melromarc wouldn't want to aid him in the future. Before Loki left the guest room, he left an illusion of himself laying down on the sofa in case one of the heroes woke up.
Loki sneaks inside the library by turning himself into a snake. He was grateful that he was still able to use his mother's magic. Once he's inside the library, he scours through the books. He's impressed with the high quality cover, but it isn't as impressive as Asgard's books and scrolls. He picked numerous books and started to read them. [6]
Loki learned about other nations in this realm. There are seven nations - Faubrey, Melromarc, Siltvelt, Shieldfreeden, Zeltoble, Reiki, and Q'ten Lo. He was fascinated by the nations, particularly Faubrey, which is basically a modernized country from Earth due to a past hero; Melromarc is ruled by the queen; and Siltvelt and Shieldfreeden were demi-human nations.
"Melromarc is ruled by the queen? Then why is Aultcray currently ruling the kingdom?" Loki wondered. "Does she have business with other countries?"
Loki then read about the three races of this realm. The races are humans, demi-humans, and beastmen. He's already aware of humans, but he's fascinated by the other two races.
"'Demi-humans are a human-like race of beings. In this world, these demi-humans have animal-inspired characteristics. Similar to humans, they have a wide range of personalities from kindness and compassion to cruelty and heartlessness'." Loki finished reading the information about the demi-humans. "Huh, so they're like fauns or centaurs as humans call them. And this race is discriminated against by humans… of course they are. Why am I not surprised? Humans enslaved and slaughtered their own kind, but in this world, it's a subspecies of their kind."
The information about beastmen is basically the same as demi-humans, except they actually look like animal beasts. Loki compared them with Minotaurs as a reference in order to understand. He couldn't believe there are three different races living in this realm. He wondered if they're other planets in this universe. It would've been nice for him if there's a Bifrost for him to travel to other unexplored planets.
Loki then learned about the magic of this realm. Magic is probably superior to his magic but inferior to the second rate sorcerer's magic, whom he envies. He is interested in learning this world's magic if he has the 'attributes'.
Loki stared at his shield, "Or maybe I don't need to learn about them."
Loki took out the book about the Legendary Weapons to learn about his shield. He ignored the information about the three weapons, but as soon as he reached the designated pages, the pages were ripped by the king and nobles. He could tell that these pages were ripped out of anger and disgust.
Loki chuckled, "I'm amused. Fine, I'll learn my 'weapon' the hard way then."
As Loki continued reading various subjects, he was filled with rage due to how humans treated the demi-humans and beastmen. They reminded him of the humans back on Earth and himself when he wanted to rule above them. He wondered if the reason why he was summoned in this realm was to help the demi-humans and beastmen, which reminded him of a certain page.
"The Church" Loki then read about the church. "Huh, so they don't worship any gods here. The humans worship the Church of the Three Heroes while the demi-humans and beastmen worship the Church of Shield."
There were also other religions, such as the Heavenly Emperor and Dragon Faith, but Loki was much more interested with the churches about heroes. He was slightly smiling that the demi-humans and beastmen worship him, since he always wanted followers though he doesn't deserve it since they probably worship the previous Shield Heroes instead of the current one.
"The king really despises these two races huh." Loki stared at the pages about the demi-human and beastmen which were filled with insults like "DAMN, BEASTS" or "EVIL WRETCHES", so it was almost difficult to read the pages.
Before Loki could learn more about the realm, he heard someone entering the library. He used his telekinesis to return all the books instantly before he turned himself into a snake. As Loki was about to head back to the guest room, he was curious when he saw a beautiful lady entering the library before exiting again a few seconds later. He wasn't drawn by her beauty, but his instincts told him that she's planning something… mischievous.
"Nobody is more mischievous than me." Loki muttered to himself, as he slowly followed her from behind.
As Loki continued to follow her, he observed more of the castle's structure in order to find the weak spot in case things get dirty between him and Melromarc. When the lady then entered the king's bedroom, Loki speculated that she was probably related to the king though he doesn't see the resemblance. A young mistress, maybe?
After entering the bedroom slowly, he saw the king waiting for the lady. He instantly hid behind a shelf and listened to their conversation.
"Where were you Malty?" King Aultcray asked.
Malty happily smiled, "I was having some 'fun', father. Why did you think so?"
King Aultcray sighed, "Forget I asked. Do you remember the plan to expose the Shield Demon in front of the people?"
"Why wouldn't I? I've been waiting for the day to expose the filthy demon!" Malty answered while maniacally chuckling. "That boy deserves the humiliation for the crimes his predecessors did to Melromarc!"
"Yes, he brainwashed and deceived numerous demi-humans because of the 'discrimination'." King Aultcray clenched his fist in anger after remembering the crimes of the previous Shield Heroes. "We didn't discriminate against those filthy animals when it's true they're evil beasts from hell! They don't deserve to have equal rights as us, humans!"
Malty smirked while pretending to shiver at the mention of the other two races, "Why did they even exist? They bring nothing but poison to our world!"
"I don't know, but they'll wish they never existed! But first, that Shield Demon must be humiliated so that he'll never have a simple life ever again!" King Aultcray exclaimed while laughing, as his daughter did the same.
Meanwhile, Loki cringed at their laughing while his heart was filled with anger after learning that he's going to be humiliated by the king and princess due to the heroes of shield before him. He then hears about their plan, much to his disgust but also an opportunity to use it in court.
Loki mischievously smirked, 'Do you really think that you can deceive a deceiver? You wish you hadn't.'[6]
CHAPTER 1 END
I hope you enjoyed this chapter. You could see how Loki is very well aware of his surroundings and angry gazes from the people, compared to Naofumi who was more excited to be in a fantasy world after he was isekai'd.
[1] Loki is already aware that he's being hated already by the nobles' eyes because he has already experienced them back on his homeworld, especially from Odin Allfather.
[2] Loki may have changed from being the usual God of Mischief, but it doesn't mean his attitude did. He'll still see anyone inferior to him, but this time, he deemed humans in Raphtalia's World to be weaker than Earth and Asgard.
[3] Loki has much more impressive stats at Level 1 because of his biology and has combat experiences for the past 1,000 years which is the same as Thor. He's basically stronger and agile than ordinary humans. Don't worry, I won't make him overpowered when he reaches whatever levels he would be in. I don't know how leveling systems work in Raphtalia's World to be honest. I only made this fic for Loki to have a second chance in life.
[4] Loki is suffering PTSD after being murdered by Thanos. I mean, who wouldn't be? He practically witnessed the destruction of Asgard and witnessed half of his people being massacred by Thanos and Black Order before being murdered by the Mad Titan. You could say that this is basically karma for inflicting PTSD into Tony Stark after he brought an alien invasion back in 2012.
[5] Loki would definitely need to learn about the world he's in. He has to be knowledgeable so he could survive in an unknown world like in Sakaar where he had a fun time after befriending the Grandmaster which took him weeks to succeed per his words.
[6] It seems Loki already has a mischievous plan for the princess and the king already. It should be easy to deceive them considering they've never met anyone like him.
