Author's Chapter - 1
Important story changes! Highly suggested to read.
This isn't a chapter sorry, but just an update on some realizations I had. I wanted this fiction to be both within realistic expectations and used TYPE MOON Wikia, while also allowing for wider maneuverability with some mixed speculations from reddit + my own ideas.
But since someone pointed out that I've went and somehow burned my own shipwreck of a fanfic(I'll find a way to burn it in water somehow)…yes I take any review critically (for now), I will happily continue to modify the story to at least limit it within the Nasuverse boundaries. Simply as both a dedication to Fate and Fanfiction Net. So any Fate experts out there, please help me out here.
I feel like I did a good job for chapter 2, compared to 0 and 1. So I'm going to be a man and avoid my responsibilities. Instead of fixing my mistakes, I'll just bullshit my way with my own version of explanations to tone them down.
(I still get goosebumps from when I wrote Shirou's appraisal)
Of course, I'll scale down the craziness of my imagination, as much as I can.
First Change: Scaling down Mana = 1000 Prana
And here is my first bullshit world build explanation.
The modern era, we have increased our temperature from 0.3 in the medieval era to 0.6 from normal world temperatures.. Now there are 1.04 x 10^44 molecules in the atmosphere.
1.6 ( 1.04 x 10^44 ) - 1.3 ( 1.04 x 10^44 ) = 0.3 ( 1.04 x 10^44 )
3.12 x 10^43 Joules of energy have been pumped into the atmosphere (heat energy is Joules).
0.6 from the deviation. Meaning the balance of 0 from the original world temperature status had long since crumbled in my plebeian eyes, such a change in scale should have destroyed the world. But I'm not a science guy, and the world is still alive. So here we are.
So if the world's balance was 1:1 before, we have shifted to 1.6 physical energy: 0.4 magical energy in the modern era for this Nasuverse timeline. (I shall now call every fanfic a branch of the Nasuverse world tree or whatever it's called)
This explains why mana has started disappearing in the modern era, and also why typhoons, global warming, and other disasters have become more commonplace. Simply because the world had shifted its balance to favor kinetic energy.
And the source of this change was humanity's advancement.
Wow humans are assholes to the world. I feel like siding with Gaia more than Alaya right now.
Of course, Gaia tries to tip the scales back to their original balance. How? By wiping out human intervention. Each disaster is created from the 1.6 physical. : 0.4 magical ratio. Meaning right now Gaia has more power to influence the physical realm where humans reside. Using this 1.6 scale, Gaia ups the temperature first, hoping humans die from the changing temperature. When that fails, she starts using more active means. I.e. typhoons, earthquakes, etc.
Well shit. I've gotten way off topic. Eh, extra words and more world building at least.
Let's say Shirou lived in the modern era, with a mana equivalent of 0.4. Then you threw his soul into another dimension where the mana equivalent is 0.7.
1.3 physical : 0.7 magical balance in the medieval era right?
So Shirou has at around double the mana/od/prana efficiency of the average mage now. Simply because his UBW retained its memories when it got isekai'd.
Sounds like a decent scale instead of 1000x his original power right? Good.
Also, I will stick to calling them mana pathways for other mages, and mix prana circuits/mana pathways for Shirou. Think of it like just different era names for the same thing. Like how a medieval supper is the equivalent of a modern day dinner. Same thing, different words.
Second Change: Average Mana Pathway/Prana Circuit
If there was a magus out there, they would kill me for how stupid my imagination is.
I gave Sakura 2000 circuits and the average medieval magus 150. What was I thinking.
Nope, we are also scaling this one back.
Instead, let's use the scale from earlier. Shirou's 27 circuits are the result of his existence in a world where the mana proportion is 0.4. The average mage during this time had lived in a world with 0.7 proportion.
So, I'll just make the average magus of this time have twice the circuits/pathways a modern magi has. If a modern magi had.
A modern magi could produce 25 units of prana in the fate timeline. Tsukihime's timeline has 40 so I'll just average both and say around 30-35 units. So they should produce around 60-70 units in the medieval era.
I will just bullshit that the mages that kidnapped Sakura could only appraise the quantity of mana pathways, they simply don't have the mastery to examine the quality of each pathway.
Shirou gets to hide his 270 units from them, while still looking like a cripple with 27. Let's give the average person in the medieval era 50 mana pathways instead.
Hey, I'm just trying to bullshit my way into a more acceptable and realistic fate story here.
So the average person can theoretically produce near 60-70 units as long as each pathway manages to produce 1.00 or more units.
The mage caravan was looking for children that had 60 or more mana pathways.
Sakura had the same number of circuits as Rin, which is 40 prana circuits. Rin had an extra 30 sub magic circuits(whatever that is) and could produce 1000 units of magical energy.
Rin could produce 14 units or more per prana circuit. Give the same for Sakura's 40 circuits and she could release 571 units of magical energy.
I will retain their modern capability and scale it from 0.4 to 0.7, so Sakura will get 80 mana pathways instead of the original 40. Still pretty good right?
She will keep her 14 units per circuit/pathway, meaning Sakura in this world has 1151 units of energy.
Wonderful.
I will still try to boost Shirou's magical power from 270 just so he has at least enough energy to fight phantasmal beasts in the future.
Reminder that Shirou fought Primate Murder who has infinite energy because he's a direct child of Gaia, one of her magical constructs created to eliminate humanity. He has infinite access to energy because Gaia also produces all the magic in the world.
600 energy vs infinity, wow Shirou's fighting prowess really carried the fight there. Sure, half of it was noble phantasms but who cares! It's his now. Hehehehe.
Reason for Artificial-Nerves-Turned-Prana-Circuits
More bullshit. I'm starting to think my imagination is bad.
The reason I did this was because this was one of the few magecraft Shirou did. I wanted to actualize his mistakes into potential research. Much like how trial and error led to the creation of the steam engine.
It's a bad idea, but with enough shit mixed up, it can be a good one. Example: Nuclear Energy alone was bad, but when we learned to harness it, it became a good power source.
Now my reasoning as to how and why Shirou and the Einzberns managed to create artificial circuits while allowing them to retain their production of Od after Prana has been stopped to supply them.
Yes goddammit! I want to keep both families together and fix their problems because I believe that Shirou would want to fix relations between him and the family of Illyasviel! Even if she was a Homunculus, she was still an Einzbern.
Shirou could alter his nerves to copy the structure of his circuits, which means that they could learn to produce Od to keep themselves from breaking down.
With the Einzbern mastery of structural manipulation, Shirou's circuits had been upgraded with exotic materials (still looking for references on what to use). After altering and upgrading the fake circuits, they had enough Od production to at least maintain themselves. Then if Shirou reinforced his entire body, he could at least push them to produce a paltry one unit of mana each.
Hence 600 units:
27 degraded circuits = 30 units (based on anime)
570 fake circuits = 570 units
I will die before any of you convince me to abandon this idea! Fight me!
Any future Author Chapters will be more world building and fixing the ideas in my stories. Thank you to everyone who read this chapter!
