Disclaimer: I own nothing

Author's note: I would like to correct a mistake I made in the last chapter's overview section, I have worded something wrong and want to set it straight. While I don't want to completely focus on the story line of the shantae series, It does not necessarily mean that it won't be the main focus.

I will have more than one chapter focused on the kingdom hearts crossover, and even will have Shantae go on her own adventures in different worlds.

Also, I know I said that the story will go through two of shantae's adventures first, but To add more kingdom hearts into the story, we'll actually bring back a certain sleeping keyblade wielder early. Anyways, I hope you do enjoy this fanfiction.

Pirate's Curse Chapter 2: Saliva Island part 1, the Map.

Shantae rushed out of her Uncle's lab, spotting Risky Boots still in town, nobody bothering to apprehend her. The Scuttle town folks never were super bright, but even Shantae knew that it was the self proclaimed queen of the seven seas.

That didn't matter right now, she needed to know about the Pirate Master so she ran up to her, Risky gaining an annoyed look on her face.

"Well? What do you want? You're off the hook so get lost." The pirate woman ordered.

"This Pirate Master guy. He sounds pretty dangerous." Shantae said, referring to the unknown evil very lightly.

"Dangerous?" Risky asked, "He was the greatest threat Sequin Land has ever known!" She retorted.

"The last time he showed up, it took the combined power of every last Genie to defeat him." Risky explained as she sighed at Shantae's naïve nature.

"Wait, you're talking about real Genies?" Shantae asked, surprise on her face. "They captured him?"

"He's dead." Risky said nonchalantly, "But don't let that fool you. With the Genies gone, the Pirate Master will do everything he can to regain the dark magic and rise again." She explained, the black and purple smoke must've been dark magic then.

"The Pirate Master must be stopped, or Sequin Land is History." The pirate woman added. "After all! He has no right to destroy what I've worked so hard to conquer!"

"Uhh... well, maybe I can help!" Shantae said, wanting to help keep the evil at bay.

"Ha! A runt like you wouldn't stand a chance against a foe like the pirate master!" Risky scoffed. "I can deal with this myself." She huffed.

"How? You couldn't even fight a single Cacklebat on your own!" Shantae retorted.

True. But if I destroy the dark magic at its source, I won't have to fight at all." Risky stated. "Cutting off the power he feeds on should keep him in the grave where he belongs." She added.

"I'm only lacking one thing... a map of the Forbidden Isles." The pirate woman explained.

"That's easy. Just try the library over at Sequin Land Palace." Shantae replied.

"I can't go to the palace! They'll clap me in irons!" Risky sighed at Shantae. "Unless..." she said, hinting to what she wanted Shantae to do.

"Hey, don't look at me! Those guys want to clip off my monster whipper!" Shantae exclaimed.

"But you seem to have come across a new weapon, that strange blade you somehow summoned without your magic protected you from the cacklebat with more ease than your hair." Risky said with a sigh.

"I don't even know how that appeared, and I don't know if I can make it appear again!" Shantae said with her own sigh before she remembered her dream from last night, that boy said something about a key.

"Call upon the key when you need it." She whispered to herself.

"Hm, what was that?" Risky asked, confused.

"O-oh! Sorry. It's just.. I think that blade had something to do with a strange dream I had last night. I've been having weird dreams ever since I became human." Shantae explained to Risky.

"Hmpf, oh well. I guess I'm on my own then." Risky replied. "But.. I might reconsider my position if you fetch me that map. It's your choice." She added with a smile.

Shantae sighed and she went to visit Sky's hatchery, needing to borrow Sky's library card to go to the Sequin Land Palace library for the map.

"Shantae? I thought they had you under lock and key." Sky said, confused as to why she was visiting her.

"Uhh... I'm on my way to the palace library to get something to read so I can pass the time. Is it alright if I borrow your library card?" She asked, using her acting skills so she didn't seem suspicious.

"You, read a book? This I have to see." Sky said with a laugh, giving Shantae her library card. "Just don't ruin this card like you did the last one!" She said seriously.

"I nibble when I'm nervous!" Shantae replied with an embarrassed look.

"Just don't lose it." Sky said, patting her younger friend on the head.

Shantae bid her friend farewell and she went to the guard at the edge of the town.

"Let's see that library card." The guard said and Shantae handed him the library card.

"Golly, they say that the camera adds ten pounds, but in your case it gave you blonde hair and a totally different face! Amazing!" The guard said, just proving how unassuming and idiotic the townspeople can be sometimes.

"Head down this path to reach Sequin Land Palace and the library, good luck!" The guard said, wishing Shantae safety on her journey before handing back the library card.

Shantae ran down the monster infested path, and deciding to try and see if she could summon that blade again she held out her hand, calling to whatever that "key" was.

Lo and behold the blade appeared in her hand with a flash of light, it was amazing, but something confused her? Why did that boy from her dream call it a key? It surely didn't look like one.

She'd have to dwell on it later though, she cut through monsters with ease, picking up gems they dropped as she ran through the field, soon finding herself in the forest that was surrounding the Palace.

As she was walking through it she encountered another cacklebat, this one put up much more of a fight, having been transformed longer and had recovered from the process of being corrupted.

She dodged it's attacks and blocked against a few bites as she landed hit after hit against the creature, but she would cut through it soon enough, then she sucked up the dark magic using the magic lamp.

Afterwards she would finally make it to the Sequin Land Palace grounds, she spotted her friend Bolo, surrounded by zombie children

"Bolo? What are you doing here?" Shantae asked.

"Everyone in Scuttle Town thinks I'm a screw-up..." Bolo Admitted. "So I'm picking up odd jobs at the Palace. Painting fences, installing lock and whatnot." He explained.

"And now you're babysitting?" Shantae asked with an amused look on her face while she motioned to the zombie children.

"Oh, the undead kids? Naw, they're just here to chew the fat." Bolo replied with a chuckle. "Mine. I can't escape. Got any flesh pops on you? I need 3 of 'em." He asked, needing help.

"You can find them in the sewers below the Palace." Bolo added, directing her to go to a sewer entrance, which was currently being blocked by a giant red chubby squid.

She started to walk over but she noticed a man in a fancy suit and bird on top of his top hat. She decided to talk to him first.

"Hi." She said, greeting the man in a simple manner but he sighed. "What's up sir?" She asked.

"Oh, don't mind me. I'm just flummoxed because I dropped something very important down the drain." The man said. "You see, I'm a traveling brochure salesman." He explained.

"That's a very interesting profession. You must have seen some exciting things in your travels, huh?" Shantae asked with a smile, only to be looked at like she was an idiot by the man.

"Travels? I've lived here in front of the palace my entire life." The man said.

"But I thought you said..." Shantae asked before she was interrupted.

"Your generation makes me sick with your arrogance!" The man exclaimed. "I sell vacation brochures of places to travel to!" The man said, explaining his profession. "And I dropped my very last Vacation brochure down this drain." He said, pointing to the drain.

Shantae walked away, and as she passed by the palace door she heard a man speaking.

"Oh me oh my! That blue haired lad installed our new lock backwards, upside down, and inside out!" The man's voice said, commenting on the poor job that Bolo did on installing the lock.

"Now we're trapped inside without a Royal Gate Key!" The man said, giving Shantae an Idea, she summoned that blade earlier and pointed it at the keyhole, a small beam of light shot from the blade and it unlocked the gate, dispelling her keyblade afterwards.

"Huh! It's open!" The guard said as Shantae sneaked away as the guard opened the front gate and headed to Bolo for the Gate Key, which he took out of his mouth, another guard escorting him away from the undead kids.

Shantae then walked over to the giant red squid, wanting to at least see if she could still find that man's traveling brochure.

"Oh fuss and fret!" The giant squid said, Shantae recognizing him as being the Squid Baron.

"Squid Baron? I haven't seen you in a while. What's the matter?" She asked the giant squid, that looked more like an octopus to her.

"Oh, you know. Post Boss Syndrome." Squid Baron said, unknowingly breaking the fourth wall while talking to the former Half-genie.

"Now that you've embarked on a new adventure, I feel like I'm destined to become some kind of filler boss." He explained.

"I'm not sure I follow." Shantae sighed, confused.

"You know, I was a major enemy last time, but this time... I just feel like we're going to have to battle again. Just to round out the package." Squid Baron said with his own sigh.

"Package?" Shantae asked, really starting to get confused.

"You wouldn't understand." Squid Baron sighed. "I just need to get away. Someplace warm."

"Maybe it's time for a vacation Squid Baron! A change of Perspective could do you good." Shantae replied, thinking back to the mention of the vacation brochure she could get for him.

"Say... You might be onto something. I've always had a fairly flat view of the world." The giant red squid said in agreement.

"Kind of staring at the same four walls, you know? Repetitive, high stress music. I could use a change of scenery." He added, confusing but he had the spirit.

"There you go!" Shantae exclaimed happily.

"If you think of a good vacation spot, please let me know." Squid Baron said, "Meantime, I'll go cry in a corner." He added before he went and did just that, uncovering the sewer entrance.

Shantae then entered the sewers, running around the small maze, fighting yet another Cackle bat before she found the travel brochure locked in a chest somehow. She collected three flesh pops for the zombie kids as well, just to be nice to them.

Once she exited the sewers she handed the flesh pops to the kids before going back over to Squid Baron.

"Solid Snap! Is that a travel brochure!" The squid baron exclaimed excitedly as Shantae handed him the brochure.

"Wowie! Look at all these snapshots! Sand and surf!" He began describing the pictures. "Free-spirited yet responsible sporty co-ed girls frolicking on the beach!"

"A sweating tennis player drinking from a perspiring glass of water with a slice of lemon!" He continued. "Old men with wispy patches of pepper grey hair, matching pants suits with a proud navy blue sailor's stripe!"

"SHIRTS UNBUTTONED TO THE THIRD BUTTON!?" He asked in shock as he yelled. "I MUST FIND THIS UTOPIA AND PURCHASE A TIMESHARE POSTHASTE!"

"How can I ever repay you?" Squid Baron asked Shantae, who was just watching his rant with amusement. "Oh! I know!" He said before handing Shantae an oil dropper.

"What is this?" Shantae asked.

"It's squid oil! I expelled it fresh this morning from my ink siphon." Squid Baron said without shame.

"Eww! Eew! Eew!" Shantae exclaimed, repulsed as she put it away, thinking that while it was gross it could have a use later.

"Whatevs, Later loser!" Squid Baron Exclaimed as he "ran" away. The former half-genie sighed and she just entered the now open palace, being greeted by the guards, they weren't the same as the ones from before so they didn't stop her.

She headed all the way to the Palace Library where she was greeted by the old librarian whom she heard acted in the court for a single day at some point.

"A visitor!" The librarian greeted her with a smile. "Let's have a look at you." He said as he was handed the library card.

"Hoo hoo hoo! This library card doesn't fool these old eyes." He exclaimed, his glasses not doing much of anything to stop him from actually mistaking Shantae for Sky.

"You used to come here all the time. The relic hunter's daughter, right?" He asked, Sky's father was a relic hunter like Shantae's Uncle, but Shantae just agreed so that this could go by quickly.

"And what's this, a court summons!?" The old man said, noticing A court summons sticking out of her pocket, he took it and read it.

"It says here that..." he began. "Hmm... scissors, jigsaw, goat mouth... WHAT!? They mean to cut off that long, winsome hair?" The old librarian exclaimed in distaste.

"That will never do. Why don't I just... file these papers away until the Sultana returns." He said, keeping the court summons. "I'd like to give you a knowing wink now, but sadly my eyelids no longer work." The man chuckled.

"Please and take whatever you came for." He added. Shantae thanked the man and looked around the library, finding a globe map with a paper map sticking out of it, she opened it up and took the map. It was the same map that Risky must be looking for.

"Thanks so much sir!" Shantae said again as she started to leave.

"Wait! Before you go.." the old man said as he limped over to her.

"You have a bright and strong heart young lass.. to hold another heart within yours is a great act of kindness." He said, speaking some kind of nonsense.

"That young lad's heart is sleeping though, makes me fear what caused it." He whispered, Shantae not hearing it as she left, confused more than ever.

After a short trip back to Scuttle Town Shantae went to Sky's Hatchery and returned her library card.

"Back Already? That was fast." Sky said as she greeted Shantae.

"I got what I needed. Thanks." The purple haired girl said with a smile.

"Look, I know you caught all the blame for what happened with the Ammo Baron. So I sold off some of my warbirds to help you bounce back." Sky said, before handing her some cash.

"Woah! Sky, this is your entire nest egg!" Shantae said in surprise, thanking her yet again.

"Just try to stay out of mischief." Sky replied with a laugh.

Shantae then left and stopped by the shop to buy a few potions and some hair products before she headed to her home to get a few more things, having to fight the fourth cacklebat for the day in front of her light house.

Afterwards she sucked up the dark magic then went back to the town's port to give Risky the map of the forbidden isles.

"Well? What took you so long?" Risky asked, clearly impatient at the moment.

"I found this at the library, is this the map you were looking for?" Shantae asked, handing her the map.

"I guess the little good for nothing is good for something after all!" Risky laughed as she looked at the map.

"So... will you let me help?" Shantae asked.

"Only if you agree to do EXACTLY what I say, when I say it." The pirate woman answered. "The Pirate Master is my foe to contend with, not yours!"

"And when this is over, we go our separate ways." Risky added.

"I can't believe I'm saying this... but, it's a deal! Let's beat this guy together and save Sequin Land!" Shantae agreed. "Hmm.. hold on. How do I know you won't pull a fast one?" Shantae asked, not fully trusting Risky yet.

"Would I lie to you?" Risky asked in reply.

"Well.." The former half genie was going to answer since she knew what Risky was like.

"Anyways, say hello to the Steam Powered Oceanic Tinker Tub Mark 2!" Risky exclaimed as she led Shantae on board the ship.

"Mark 2? What happened to the first one?" Shantae asked.

"You happened to it." Risky deadpanned with a sigh.

"Let's just get going before I change my mind." She huffed before she set sail, heading to the first forbidden Isle, Saliva Island.
