Chapter 8 Frost Bite Island part 1: Ammonian Army Recruits and Late Modules.

Shantae walked into Rottytops and her Brothers' house, heading directly to Rottytops. She was going to keep her promise to the lost soul she believed to have once been Rottytops herself. Ventus' heart itself made sure she would keep this promise, even if a little unnecessary.

"Look who's back. What's this I hear about you and Risky Boots?" Abner asked before Shantae could move another inch, he heard that Shantae was working with Risky and he didn't trust it due to his own dealings with the pirate woman.

"Just tell the truth." She heard Ven's voice say before she could play dumb. She took a deep breath and let it out before looking back at Abner.

"There is a threat to the Sequin Lands, a threat that even Risky is anxious about and planned to take care of." the former half-genie answered, continuing to elaborate.

"There is a man named "The Pirate Master" a threat that once ruled over the seas long ago, And Due to Risky's actions that lead to her taking over my magic half, she turned my former light magic into dark magic, which may have started waking the Pirate master from the dead." She added.

"She cannot visit places that the Pirate Master draw power from directly, so I'm helping her by destroying the places she labeled as "Dens of Evil." She admitted. "So far there is only one Den of Evil Left."

"So what brings you here then?" Abner asked with a huff, understanding the situation a bit more.

"Well, two things actually." Shantae said. "The first one is about something that happened on the last island, I found a place, a place called "The village of lost souls." Abner looked surprised when she mentioned it, while Rotty looked intrigued.

"You don't need to say nothin' more." Abner said with a sigh. "I know all about it."

"About what?" Rotty asked.

"My night job, something I'm working on." Abner said, trying to keep it a secret. "None of your biz, sis."

"Awwwwww..." Rottytops whined a little, wanting to know more.

"Well, anyways, I found this there." Shantae said, holding up the lost soul.

"How cute! It's a wandering soul!" Rotty exclaimed happily. "It must've been separated from it's body and can't find it's way home!" She added with a giggle.

"But whose soul is it?" Shantae asked.

"Only one way to find out!" Rotty answered. "You just gotta trigger the right memories!"

"Maybe this fellow committed some foul deed in life... something he'd never forget." She continued. "Or true love... someone he or she will remember for all of time." She feigned swooning.

"Or, something embarrassing!" The zombie gal exclaimed. "Like, maybe he did diaper commercials as a child... and he still wears them because he misses being in the spotlight!" She said, laughing at the soul.

"YER WRONG!" A voice said.

"Who said that!?" Shantae asked in shock.

"COMFERT 'AN CONVENIENCE AIN'T N-NO CRIME!" the voice said, it sounded like Barracuda Joe.

"Woah... it's... it's Barracuda Joe!" Shantae exclaimed, looking at the lost soul.

"See! That wasn't so hard!" Rotty giggled as she gave the soul back to Shantae. "Here, take his spirit back to him. He'll be up and about in no time!" She added.

"Well, assuming you kept the body." She laughed. "If not, I've got a few spares lying around." She joked.

"Wow! I can't believe it!" Shantae said.

"It's not a big deal." Rotty said, shrugging off the good deed.

"Listen Rotty... I.. I met someone in the village of lost souls." Shantae began, getting a stare from Abner.

"She explained some things to me, and.. well.. I just wanted you to know that whatever happens... I'll always be your friend." She said with a smile, giving Rotty a big hug.

"Really?" Rottytops asked.

"Through thick and thin!" The former half genie declared. "No matter what."

"Big brother?" Rotty looked to her brother, unsure of how to respond, but he was smiling.

"Think she means it sis. Don't mess it up this time." Abner said, chuckling.

"Can we have her for dinner?" Rottytops joked.

"That's the kinda garbage I'm talking about!" The zombie man sighed. "Now, get outta here Genie girl, I appreciate you bein' friends with Rotty here, but You got stuff to do."

"Oh.. Abner, when you go to the Village of Lost souls, if the guy guarding it gives you a hard time, mention the name Ventus.. he'll know who that is and let you pass." Shantae whispered to Abner.

"The hell you talking about?" Abner asked.

"I kind of have a sleeping heart of a boy named Ventus connected to mine somehow... the Hexer.. he saw into it and seems to trust him. Just tell the Hexer that Ventus knows you and would vouch for you if you were the one carrying his heart." She added, still whispering.

"Ah.. well, I sure hope to meet the guy and thank 'im once his heart his back in his body then." Abner nodded, patting Shantae on the head before sending her back on her way.

She made it back to Risky and she then headed to Scuttle town, needing to get more supplies. Once they made it to Scuttle town, which took shorter time due to Risky's ship's steam engine finally started working properly.

Once they were there they would note that the entire town was now coated in metal, some buildings turned into long ranged cannons, even Sky's Hatchery roof was transformed.

Shantae rushed over to the place, finding Ammo Baron just outside the place.

"Not you again!" Ammo baron yelled, sighing. "I thought you were out of my hair for good!"

"You should be ashamed of yourself for what you've done to this place." Shantae huffed, crossing her arms. "The last Mayor wasn't too bright.."

"That's an understatement! Haw!" Ammo Baron laughed.

"But at least he cared about us! You're just using this place for your own selfish gain!" Shantae said.

"It's my town now, and I'll do what I want!" Ammo Baron declared. "Drat! When's that blasted Targeting Module going to Arrive?" He asked.

"And where's Barracuda Joe?" He added. "I can't install it without him, have you seen him around? Kinda nondescript guy?" Ammo Baron asked.

"Ummm... he's kind of... petrified right now." Shantae said.

"Fa! Well if you see him, tell him to stop being petrified!" Ammo baron cursed under his breath, "and where are my new recruits? Come to think of it they never did come back from the Palace." He added, Shantae thinking of heading over to the Palace after un-petrifying Barracuda Joe.

"What's taking them so long!? I can't get this show on the road without them either!" He complained. Shantae just ignored him and headed into Sky's hatchery, headed right over to Joe's petrified body, pushing his soul into his body.

"Wake up Joe!" She shouted and the stone cracked and faded away, revealing Barracuda Joe, alive once more.

"Hmm. Barracuda Joe's Alive." The man said, much to Sky's Disbelief, as she was gonna stop Shantae from doing whatever she was going to do so she could leave Joe as a testament to how she was going to be single forever thanks to her Dad's Antics.

"This, this is absolutely incredible!" Sky exclaimed happily. "I... how did you accomplish this?!" Sky asked, Shantae, hugging her.

"Shantae, you're the most amazing friend ever!" She said, her excitement not dying down. "I'll never question your judgement again!"

"Er-hemmm. Joe's had time to think." Joe said. "An' urrrr... Lotta fish in the sea An' all that." He added as he started walking off.

"Whelp. Back to work!" He announced before he ran off.

"WHAT!?" Sky asked in shock. "COME BACK AND MARRY ME YOU SCUMBAG!" She yelled.

"You... you probably didn't want to marry him anyways... Before I knew the soul I found was Joe's, Rottytops told me that he still wore diapers... you definitely wouldn't be into a guy like that." Shantae said, calming Sky down.

"I guess it's for the best then." Sky said, coming to terms with it very quickly, letting Shantae go on her way.

"All men are idiots, at least I have Wrench." Sky sighed to herself, her warbird Wrench agreeing with her by letting out a caw.

Shantae made her way all over to the Palace, finding two girls that seemed very familiar, they were just standing next to a large buff guy with pinkish red hair, wearing a pink polo, two silver armor like wrist bands, and boots that had fur on the inside. He had one eye, much like Ammo Baron.

She heard the talk of an enchanted blade, which must've been a sword she found on Tan-line Island, it was different from Risky's sword and her own sword so she definitely assumed it belonged to the polo wearing buff guy. She walked over to him and handed him the blade.

"Is that... is that the Enchanted blade?" He asked, smiling. "You found it?"

"Here you go." Shantae said, shrugging and continuing trying to just let him take the blade.

"My blade!" The buff guy said, "now that I have it I better make myself scarce. I feel like my friend Bran-son is about to... make a sudden appearance!" He announced, like some sort of super hero from a comic book.

Shantae however wasn't really into this so she left, managing to slip away as she heard the guy shouting from a distance, something about matching purses, then all of a sudden it changed to adventures about fighting the "grim reapers" ghost and a place called "castle bone-face."

As she continued to walk back she saw the two girls running past, it really was the girls from Saliva Island. Who knew they worked for the Ammo Baron. Once she made it back to town she walked to Risky's ship, she was there and she was done restocking her supplies.

"I take it you're ready to shove off and get to Frostbite Island?" Risky asked.

"Yep, I am really glad I didn't stick around the Palace." Shantae answered as she walked up onto the ship. She didn't really mind the yelling she heard from the pink polo wearing guy, she just knew she had to hurry back so that she could continue her own adventure.

The two headed to Frostbite, the journey taking under an hour due to Risky Recognizing a shortcut. Once they landed and got off the ship onto the freezing cold island, Risky began her usual talk.

"This is it. Frostbite Island." She said, smiling. "End of the line."

"Oh my gosh it's freezing!" Shantae exclaimed, trying to cover herself so she wouldn't feel the cold on the bits of her skin that were exposed. "I'll take the burning sand and lava any day over this!" She added.

"We'll find the fifth and final den of evil here. If we can destroy the source of his power one last time... the Pirate Master will be finished!" Risky said, ignoring Shantae's cries of being cold.

"I'm r-r-ready!" Shantae said, running off, trying to keep moving to keep warm in the freezing place. As she trekked through the frozen land she saw Ammo Baron talking to a crocodile person wearing a neat suit and a strange metal helmet, it was Techno Baron.

She listened in on the conversation, wanting to know what was happening.

"Blah... blah... won't tolerate any more of your delays!" Ammo baron yelled.

"Calm yourself Baron!" Techno baron replied. "The weapon will be ready to fire, I promise you! But you can't rush art!" He added.

"Art?" Ammo Baron asked. "We're talking about a device that... Ka-Blam-O! Turns villages into slag heaps." He said.

"Sssss... you worry to much." Techno baron feigned calm. "The weapon will function. I designed it myself. The Palace will fall. And when it does... you will have complete control over all of Sequin Land!" He announced.

"Sequin Land!? HA!" Ammo Baron laughed. "I won't stop there! The entire world will be my garage!" He declared. "Lock! Load! Shoot the Core! BOOSH-WAAAAH!"

"Yes, yes." Techno baron said, tired of Ammo Baron's ramblings. "Why don't you return to that Scuttle Town where it's nice and Cozy. I'll have the device sent to you the moment that it's ready."

"You're stalling, Techno Baron." Ammo Baron sighed.

"Relax! My assistant has everything under control." The crocodile man said.

"That module had better come soon!" The mechanized military madman grumbled before he headed off.

"You there! Peasant!" Techno baron said, pointing at Shantae. "Run ahead and check on my Assistant! See what's taking him so long with that Targeting module! Rough him up if you have to!" The man said.

"He's in my base somewhere in propeller town!" He added, pointing to a flying town straight ahead. Shantae just shrugged and ran in the direction.

She had to fight a few heartless on the way there but she climbed up into the flying town which was inhabited by nothing more but Techno Baron's robot army, which she destroyed on her way to a place that looked like a lab.

She found who else but Bolo there, tinkering with some weird contraption she believed to be the targeting Module.

"Bolo!" Shantae sighed. "You're working for the Techno Baron!?" She yelled.

"Sure, why not! I've got glasses." Bolo said, pointing to the X-ray specs he had on. "He said I looked super smart, so he made me his Assistant!" He added with a goofy smile. "Someone finally appreciates me!"

"I feel like I'm on top of the world!" He announced happily.

"Well... yeah! We're a thousand feet in the air!" Shantae told him.

"Look, I don't want to mess up on my first day, I just put the final touches on this doohickey." The guy said, handing her the targeting module. "It's supposed to go to the Ammo Baron back in Scuttle Town. Could you deliver it for me?" He asked.

"Fine!" Shantae huffed, taking the module and she headed back to Risky's ship, fighting the last three cackle bats on the way back. She made it back to Risky, explained her how she couldn't find the den of evil and was forced to go deliver the targeting module.

The pirate woman sighed and complained but nonetheless she took Shantae back to Scuttle town, making use of the short cut once more. Once they arrived back in Scuttle Town, She delivered the targeting module.

However, thanks to Bolo's terrible workmanship on it the cannon that Ammo Baron had built blew a hole into the wrong place, creating a crater in Frostbite island. Shantae left to go back to the island as Barracuda Joe got to work on fixing the Module himself, which would no doubt take a while.

"So the damned idiot saved the day for the palace?" Risky asked, amused by the outcome of this.

"Yeah, I can't believe it but even his own mistakes come with great outcomes sometimes." Shantae shrugged as she laughed.

"I will thank him later though. I do doubt he'd take it as a serious thank you if I mention that he did a terrible job making the module however." She added.

"Well, let's just hope that crater leads to the den of evil." Risky said. "We are one den away from putting an end to the Pirate Master's plan!" She added with a smirk.

Chapter end. Sorry if this chapter was a bit too goofy.. The Shantae series can be that way, also this was all necessary for the story to continue, believe it or not.
