Hour of twilight began on a cool night in early summer. The pinks and purples that dragged in the night sky behind the setting sun. It was going to be a beautiful night.

A black jet swept through ignoring the colored clouds, high above a forest. At the helm, was Batman.

Batman was on a mission. A newfound energy source was circulating the black market, causing quite the stir in Gotham. The source seems endless on its power, and glowed a bright green like the Lazarus Pits.

He had managed to snipe the small battery back before any of the villains could grab their hands on it. Radiation and power levels were concerningly high for such a compact battery.

Having ran tests on it and tracing back to where it came from, had led Batman to an isolated area near the Great Lakes. All he needed to do was to find out who made it and why. Thus, he chose to go about it alone.

Beep. Beep. He was getting close, the readings were starting to resemble that of the battery. Lowering the jet to keep a visual on below. The sky had darken enough to conceal him.

"Scan area, below." He made verbal command, eyes glancing over towards screen to see what it read. He frowned. Nothing, yet-

BEEP BEEP BEEEP-

The power and radiation levels started to spike, causing the device to blare and blink in warning. Batman scowled, trying to get a look as his surroundings as he checked his system gauges out of caution.

He was about to command audio readings of the scan when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Two glowing green lights- no three. Wait. He squinted his eyes, then widened them back open in shock.

'Vultures?'

That wasn't what concerned him though.

They were carrying something-no. They were carrying someones. They looked young. A girl, presumably by the long red hair, swung what looks to be a metal bat. Struggling as two of the glowing birds carried her. Another figured appeared to be a boy, dangling motionless with a red and white t-shirt.

Gritting his teeth, Batman changed his trajectory to follow the vultures. Lives were first priority, even if they possibly were a decoy.

A beam of green light flashed through his line of sight. 'Ambush-?'

Alarms started to blare as more beams of green shot into the sky. The bat plane shook and tilted, as some managed to hit it. Batman tried to keep the plane steady, while initiating emergency protocol.

That was when a horde of glowing green creatures flew through the jet, causing Batman to lose control. Power surge shorting out most of the functions in the plane, as it spiraled down into the woods below.

"Nngh."

"Danny!" Hands violently shook at his shoulders.

Danny let out a groan, curling up. "Mm.. 5 more.. minutes, Jazz.."

"Daniel James Fenton! You get up right now!"

Danny's eyes snapped open, bolting up right. "Mom! I-I swear I was... studying with...uh.."

Danny squinted at his sister who had a very pleased and relieved look on her face. He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Really, Jazz? The Mom voice?"

"Hey it worked, didn't it?"

Danny shook his head with a sigh. He took a moment to look at their surroundings, confused. They were surrounded by trees, no sign of foot trails or camp near by.

They were camping and roasting marshmallows when-Danny felt the rise of panic in his chest. His eyes darting to his sister as realization sat in.

"Plasimus." Danny stated more than questioned.

Jazz nodded, a meek smile on her face.

Danny stood up, looking down at his hands. He had to test it. He closed his eyes, trying to feel his ghostly core, "Going ghost!"

He had expected to feel an embraced by a deep cooling from his core. Instead, he felt a sharp empty pain in his chest and nausea warmed his throat. Buckling over, shaking, as he gasped for air.

"Danny!" Jazz was up on her feet, kneeling over him. She rubbed his back as they waited for the spell to be over.

"Ugh! Can't believe I..." Danny cursed as he tried to get a hold of himself again. "Should of known he was going to zap me! Now..."

Danny bit back that thought. No. He wouldn't finish that thought.

"Danny. There was nothing we could do. We just knew he was setting us up for a trap, and between him and Mom and Dad.." She motioned with her hand, letting him finished the thought.

Between the ghost repellant and family activities, it kept them from speculating and preparing as much as they would have liked. Didn't make Danny feel any better, but feelings didn't matter right now. He had to focus on situation at hand.

He'll think about how stupid he was later.

Danny gave a firm nod to himself, standing straight again. They had to get back to their parents and then they could-

A gust of wind hit their backs, as a whining whirling noise pierced their ears. A loud crash, sound of trees cracking, came from their right. The ground rumbled for a moment.

The siblings shared a look, as fear crawled up their skin. That couldn't have been their parents, could it? Sounded like it fell from the sky.

Either way, Danny ran straight towards it. Jazz, after grabbing her bat, followed quickly behind.

Something large could be seen through the fallen trees. Danny easily hopped over the fallen trunks, slipping off of the last log face first into the ground once catching sight of the scene.

Trees were broken and laying across the ground. Glass and parts were scattered across the ground, and a plane that made a trench in the ground.

A sharp gasp from his sister, as she caught up to the scene, made Danny jolt back into his surroundings. He got up on his feet, and offered an arm to help her down.

The teens cautiously stepped forward to get a look at the crash. Jazz was frowning deeply, gripping her bat tightly. Danny held out his arm as a sign to stop.

There was a large black figure laying among the rubble, outside of the plane. A groan could be heard as it shifted, revealing a bat shaped signa on the chest.

"B-Batman?" "Batman?!" The teens were shocked.

Batman huffed, trying drag himself from the wreck. His vision and thoughts were clouded. A sharp pain in his side reminded him he was alive, but he couldn't tell how bad the injury was.

His head snapped, in direction of his name. Eyes squinting, trying to see through the blur. The figure running towards him, looked familiar. Black hair, blue eyes.

"Dick..." gruff sounded more like a statement than a question.

Danny stopped just few feet away, confused. "Did... Batman just call me a dick?"

Batman could only assume how badly he must of hit his head. Dick was grown. Had been for a while. He knew that. So, who was this? Batman glanced between the teens, realizing there was two of them. The older one had long red hair.

"Does it matter Danny?! He's bleeding!" Jazz huffed, sliding down beside him. Her eyes trained towards the bleeding wound on his side. "Be-besides Dick can be a name of a person."

"By choice?" Danny kneeled down, trying to look for more injuries. His eyes frantically searching, eyes that were a piercing cold blue even in the dark. Almost as if they glowed.

Batman squeezed his eyes shut. His head was splitting apart. He couldn't think.

"I think Batman got a bad concussion. I don't know if anything's broken, but the rests are small gashes."

Jazz gave a slight nod then took off her blue plaid shirt, revealing black top underneath. She used it as a make shift bandage. "I think that's the best I can do until we can get supplies.. or a flashlight. Luckily, he won't bleed out." (To death was implied.)

"Ok. ok." Danny took a minute, reeling in all the information of the past 30 minutes. Trying to think of what to do.

Hearing shouts and the GAV (Ghost Assault Vehicle. AKA Fenton's RV) revving in the distance. That couldn't be good.

"Jazz, please tell me you have your phone?"

Jazz gave a meek smile, hand still tenderly on Batman's side. "It was charging in the GAV."

"Crud. Mine's dead in the tent."

They couldn't stay. The plane didn't look safe, small flames danced around it. Batman seemed out of it, which could be a blessing IF he had his powers. He needed medical attention. Mom and Dad were fighting for their lives, against ghosts- and there was also chance ghosts will be after them.

Jazz seem to come to the same conclusion. She gently shook at Batman's shoulder, his eyes snapping open at the touch.

"Batman? Can you move at all?"

The bulky man grunted in response, even if he couldn't, he would. He couldn't let himself be a burden, especially on children. The teens took to each side of him and helped him up onto his feet.

He stumbled forward, but the two kept him from falling. They stood there for a moment, testing if this could work.

"Ok, I think we can do this. Now which way was-"

Danny pointed towards the sky, "That way."

"Wait-How did you-"

"Ursa Major. "

"Tch, of course. Stars. "

"Hey, it works, doesn't it?" Danny stuck his tongue out at his sister. "I could of used one you didn't know."

"Thank you for not inconveniencing us."

They reminded Batman of his kids. He wondered if taking time during a crisis to tease each other was a sibling thing. He cleared his throat, to try and get them to focus.

"O-oh, sorry."

They tried to walk forward with the three of them, at first. Making it to where Jazz dropped the Fenton bat, when Danny pointed it out.

"This isn't going to work. Jazz take the lead."

Jazz furrowed her brows then blinked with an "Oh!". She carefully let go of Batman's side. Danny shifted his hold on the man, taking a bit to get a nice grip.

Danny sighed relieved. It was easier to take most of the weight than fighting for balance.

Jazz held the Fenton bat in her hands, ready to attack if necessary. "Ready?"

"Yeah-oh wait! No, take the specter deflector. Its in my pocket." Danny wiggled his leg, remembering the device sticking out of his pockets. He was impressed it didn't fall out.

"What- no Danny! What if I need to-"

"Its fine, I'll just deal with being shocked if that happens. Nothing, I'm not use to. "

'Use to?' Batman tried to listen to the teens, but just like his vision, it faded in and out. Still he wondered why the boy was so use to being shocked.. in fact. Why was he holding up his weight so easily?

Jazz frowned. Hands on her hips.

"Pleeeeaasse? Just wear it. You can always take it off once we're out of the woods ."

Jazz glared him down.

"You wanted to test it out tonight anyways, now would be the perfect time."

"Fine. But only because you make a good argument." she grumbled, yanking the device from Danny's pocket. "Don't complain if you get shocked."

"Yea, yeah. Let's go before my legs give out." Danny huffed. Even though he was fine with carrying Batman now, he wasn't sure how long he could last.

Jazz snapped the belt, and led the way. She kept her eyes and ears open, while trying to scout the easiest route. They couldn't carry Batman over fallen logs or heavy brush. Steep dips wouldn't be good either.

It was hard as the forest was dark. Still Jazz used her bat to help test ground and objects where she couldn't see them. The darkness of the forest, however, did not affect Danny.

Batman made a small note to himself. Despite the sister walking in front of them, Danny was the one leading them. He would tell her which direction to go, or if there were obstacles in the way before they ran into them.

"Ghost, right."

And He warned of attacks before they happened.

Jazz smacked the ghost right in the head. It looked like a glowing green bear with moose antlers and five red eyes. The shield activating anytime the bears claws came near, allowing her a chance to whack it again.

Batman wasn't sure if he was hallucinating. The sound of the bat, the rotten smell of decay, and the echoey growls made him lean towards real. But the situation itself did not.

"Doing ok, Danny?" Jazz looked back at her brother. She had splotches of ectoplasm on her and the ghostly bear appeared knocked out for the time being.

"Just keep going, Jazz." Danny grunted. Batman was getting heavy. He seem to be shifting from awake to a sleep walk state. The constant change in weight was hard for Danny to keep up with.

Besides. Side eyeing the 'unconscious' bear, he didn't think it would stay down for long. Ghosts didn't get injured the same way humans did, since their bodies were mostly composed of ectoplasm. Without disrupting the ectoplasm, ghosts were nearly impossible to beat in a fight.

"Right, soo-"

" Dead ahead."

"Actually Dead is to our left." Jazz pointed to the bear with her bat, before heading in the correct direction.
