Danny patted his chest, glancing at himself. T-shirt was normal, then patted his face and hair. He couldn't tell if anything was still ghostly. His eyes begging towards Jazz for an answer.
Jazz bit her lip, looking panicked staring at her parents. She glanced at Danny locking eyes, but realized she pulled a wrong expression as Danny's eyes widened. She quickly gave him a weak smile but it was too late.
The ghost boy's breathing was rapid as he clung tightly to the thermos in his hands, as if its his lifeline. Looking back at his parents, waiting for a reaction. Any sign.
The bats instinctively all stepped in closer, unsure of the Fentons' reactions. Cass narrowing her eyes, to focus in on them. She relaxed her shoulders, motioning for the others to step back. The others did so reluctantly, all keeping guard, as the Fentons moved forward lowering their guns.
"Dann'o!" Jack rushing to Danny.
"How did you get up here?" Maddie muttered more to herself, staying behind looking puzzled.
Danny stiffened in fear, holding out his arm and waving it. "W-wait -don't-!"
Jack swept up Danny, bringing him in for a deathly tight bear hug. His cheek rubbing against Danny's hair.
"You caught the Wisconsin Ghost! I'm so proud of you!"
Danny was glad he didn't need to breath as Jack crushed him in the hug. It still hurt though, especially in his condition. Plus he couldn't feel his..
A loud clank of metal hit the floor. Danny's eyes widening in dread, as he listened to it roll. His father's hug made him drop the thermos. God, he hoped it didn't-
Click. A burst of light. Hit.. the release button...
Plasmius floated in the air, blinking. Just as confused as everyone that was staring at him. Plasmius blinked, then glanced between Danny and Jack's face.
A smirk crawling on his face as he flew up into the ceiling with a "Tata~"
Everyone stared up at where the ghost disappeared speechless. Taking in what just happened.
Jack looked back at his son, with a sympathetic smile. Danny's face blank, as he refused to breath. As if breathing will make it all real.
"Ah, That's ok Danny boy! We'll get 'em someday." Jack smiled, his arms loosening but not letting his son go.
Danny didn't move anything, but his eyes as they snapped to Jack.
"Its not your fault, boyo. Ever since the accident you can't seem to hold on to anything! Nothing to feel bad about." Jack's poor attempt in comforting his son.
Danny never once in his life had felt so close to murdering his father as he did in this moment. Eye twitching. Trying hard to keep his eyes from flashing green. Breath Fenton.
"Jack. I got a reading." Maddie gasped, back into ghost hunter mode as she prepared to chase.
"Coming Mads!" Jack letting down his son, ruffling his hair. "We'll work on your hunting skills another day. As for today, just leave the ghost hunting to the professionals for now."
Wrong. NOW He had never felt so close to murdering his father.
"Stay safe kids, BONZAI!" Jack ran back out the room, with Bazooka back on his shoulder, ready to blast.
"Love you, sweetie! Glad you're safe, we won't be long." Maddie blew a kiss to her kids before running after Jack, showing him the way.
Jason was vibrating with anger, pushing up his sleeves as he stomped forward, only to be blocked by Dick's arm.
"Don't."
"I just want to talk." Jason growling, as Dick gave a stern glare. Jason returning the glare with a defiant one, but didn't move forward.
Dick extended his other arm, stopping Damian from pulling out his sword. Dick giving the stern look to Damian. "Sheath it."
Damian huffed sheathing his sword, with a grumbling.
"Not you either!" Dick frowned at Cass, who stomped her foot in anger. She turned around crossing her arms with a huff.
Tim the only one not focused on the Fenton parents, as he was more concern with how silent and still Danny stood. Though he did have a fleeting thought of sabotaging the Fentons' finding gear to keep them in one spot.
"Danny?" Jazz walked up to her brother, her suit powered down and the device hanging on her hip again.
Danny kept a blank face, but side glance at Jazz to let her know he heard her.
"Its ok.. to let it out." Jazz smiled, reaching her hand to touch Danny's shoulder.
Danny furrowed his brows slightly, trying to think what she meant. They lifted when he come into realization. Danny flicked his eyes back and forth, glancing back at his sister with a raised brow, as if asking if she was sure.
Jazz let out a soft laugh, "Yes Danny! This whole night is what I would call a wtf moment. Besides I doubt you'll hurt anything like this."
Jazz gently using her knuckle to push at where Danny's core usually was, as a hint. Danny frowned at her at the mention but nodded slowly. He glanced around, before picking up the thermos, holding it out to her.
"Danny, I don't think I-"
Danny shoved it in her face, adamant.
Jazz sighed, "Ok, fine. Yes. I promise I'll suck you into the thermos if your powers magically get full strength again."
Danny frowned.
"Don't worry, Danny. Go on." Jazz gestured.
The bats glanced at each other then at Danny, wondering what he was going to do.
Danny nodded, mostly to himself letting out a deep breath. He shook his hands, then brought them up to his mouth, almost as if he was praying. He squatted down to the floor, taking another breath.
He brought his hands away from his mouth shaking them in the air again, then deeply inhaled, his eyes closed.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Danny screamed out, his eyes glowing green as the floor shook under them. The tile under him cracking a bit.
He stopped, panting heavy for a moment, coughing a bit. His throat burned. "...Structure ok?"
Jazz stomped on the floor, checking around. The bats still stunned, not sure what they expected. Then they mimicked Jazz, stomping to check the room's sturdiness.
"Your good Danny!" Jazz said after checking with the bats who all nodded with a shrug, that it seemed fine.
"One more?"
"Yep, should be fine." Jazz double-checking with the bats, who shrugged.
Danny nodded, taking another deep breath. He sharply inhaled, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUCCCCCCCKK! FUCK! FUCK THIS!"
Danny standing up, panting. The tiles were cracked into small pieces under him. "FUCK this trip! Fuck Vlad, he can burn in hell! Fuck this bullshit. Seriously! FUCCCCCCCK Me... UGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!"
Danny was finally letting it out, as he paced in his spot, flailing his arms around. "HE WAS IN THE THERMOS! Not EVEN for a minute! And then-ughhgughghugh..."
Danny took a breath, staring at the ceiling. Regaining composure.. at least enough to keep ranting. "And then Dad, DAD. THE MAN he wants DEAD! Hugs me saying he's proud of me-which has been months since he said that!- AND THAT! That what causes Frootloop to ESCAPE!"
Danny groan, running his hands through his hair. "And now he's sooo going to rub it in next time! And I can't fucking retort shit to that! Because its either my fault, which be a bit more bearable.. or DAD'S! And it just.. UAAAHH. Fuck. this."
Danny fell backwards onto the floor, with his arms and leg spread, staring at the ceiling. Growing silent.
Jazz made her way over to her little brother, sitting down next to him on the floor. She smiled, patting his shoulder. "You done?"
"No!... But I think I'll cry if I keep going.. and honestly I think I've cried enough for one nightmare, thank you." Danny's eyes were watery and voice was stressed, showing how close he was. He hated already crying in front of the bats once tonight, and he be damned to do it again. At least like this.
Honestly, none of the bats would have blamed him if he did. The fact that he didn't was either impressive or sad, with how much stress he was pulled through.
Jazz nodded, smiling at Danny, brushing some of the hair from his face. Danny staring up at the ceiling with a frown, as he rolled the events in his head. His frowned deepened as his face wrinkled. He shot up into sitting position.
"Wait- no! Not done! Because FUCCCCCCKKK my life! Half-life! " He groaned smacking a hand to his face. He muffled a small yell, then huffed.
"Vlad isn't even the top of my worries! Because now that he's out free to do whatever the hell he pleases-I.. They're is going to be ghost.. EVERYWHERE.. and.. I .. Ughhh I'm BARELY a c-student! I'm LUCKY to get an hour asleep every couple days. Its a fucking MIRACLE no one has died yet in Amity! IF... ...I.. I can't be everywhere at once.. Even if I master duplicating!"
Danny curled up into a ball, knees pulled to his chest as his hands gripped tightly at his hair, trying to keep his breathing steady. "Someone's going to ..all because.. I-.. I should.. have..I.."
"Danny..." Jazz put her arm around Danny's shoulder, bringing him into a side hug. Her other hand trying to loosen his grip on his hair.
"Hey, not even Supes can be everywhere at once. So don't expect people to think you can." Dick walking over, knelling beside the boy.
"Why do you think they made the Justice League anyways? To play DnD?" Jason stood with hands behind his head, relaxed posed.
"Oh, could you just imagine! We should try to get them to do that." Tim chuckled.
"Father would have to improve."
"Only way B would agree is if we had him be dungeon master."
"Just convince him he can mess with the Green Lantern."
A grunt was heard on the comms, making all the bats look to the side with a fake whistle of innocent, but all grinning as they were making plans to sneak it in.
Danny blinked, his eyes peaking behind his hair, before bubbling into a laugh. He let go of his hair in favor of hugging his knees.. chuckling. The idea of a group of heroes playing DnD... Tucker would die.
"Batman made a promise and so do we, Danny. Besides I think we make a pretty good team." Dick poking his knuckle into Danny's cheek, with a grin.
Danny staring at Dick, then glancing to each of the bats simmering over that. Right. Batman promised he wouldn't have to do things alone. His eyes glancing down catching sight of Dick's bandaged chest. Fear rising again.
But because of him, they all did almost...
"Hey, my eyes are up here." Dick dragging finger from his chest to his eyes, then gave a wink.
Danny following the movement then chuckled. He froze for a moment, feeling a weight on his back, peering behind. Cass had sit down, back to back.
"Got your back."
Danny reddened, burying his face into his arms. It was embarrassing to have them all try to cheer him up, but he be lying if he said he didn't like it. It felt nice. He took a deep breath, then exhaled.
"What about next time? What if its a ghost, stronger than Frootloop? What if-"
"We'll worry about that when the time comes. Besides knowing B-"
"He'll already have started preparing." Jason said as he moved closer, kneeling down.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we found all our gear with ghost tech by the end of this week." Tim stated.
"Father is most paranoid."
Jazz smiling as she rubbed her cheek against Danny's making him frown with embarrassment. "We'll be ok, Danny. Everything is as it should be.. right?"
"Yeah, I guess," Danny trying to push his sister off, hand on her forehead. Jazz laughing as she kept a sticky hold of Danny.
"...When all of you are ready, I'll be waiting at the loading docks. I've restored the tunnel entrance to escape." Batman waited a moment before announcing that they have an exit. The static seem to have died out.
"Wait, how did you do that? The controls were melted." Tim asked.
"...I may have taken some pages out of Danny's book." Batman said as a static ghostly meow was heard in the background.
Everyone pausing to look at each other. Danny glancing at them, still having his sister pulled back from him, but not pushing as they stayed in a mid-pried position.
"Was.. that?" Danny asked with a grin. Feeling incredibly warm, even if it sounded ridiculous.
Batman tossing a sandwich into the giant ghost catfish's mouth, as it waited to be fed. "Affirmative. I made some.. negotiations."
The catfish purred as it happily chewed on the sandwich.
"Also, I'm afraid if anyone's hungry, we'll have to wait until we get home." Having just gave the catfish last of the food Alfred prepared.
Everyone started to laugh, because they could only imagine how serious Bruce was talking with the catfish. All except Damian, who crossed his arms, wishing he could have fed it instead.
"Ok, B. We'll start heading out. Hey, how long.. will your parents take?"
Danny and Jazz glanced at each other, then shrugged. "Depends. Though as long as they don't run into a ghost, it shouldn't take long-"
"AFTER HIM JACK!"
"ON IT!"
They could hear them cry out in the hall. They caught a glimpse of the wolf-moose ghost running through the walls.
"Bullwinkle!"
