The time had come, everyone had met at the mansion; Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Elena where all sat in the living room, Elijah had moved the coffins into the centre of the room, awaiting Klaus and Elena to be ready. They had to change out of the formalwear they had on for dinner, returning to there usual attire.

"You've only brought 2 coffins in?" Elena questioned, confused by the third she knew she saw when she had awoken Elijah, "who's in the other one?"

"That's a whole different story-" Rebekah wanted to bring that conversation to a close, not interested in rehashing the past.

"The original witch is housed in that coffin," Klaus didn't want to lie to her, he didn't feel the need to keep secrets anymore, "our mother."

"The coffin is sealed, our family being the only ones who know how to release her," Elijah explained, "she's a very powerful witch, she turned us into vampires with dark magic over a thousand years ago, she completely went against nature when she created us, her only wish now is to take it all back and kill us all."

Elena was really starting to understand why the original family had been so fearful all this time, both of there parents want them dead; She couldn't imagine how that could feel.

"So, we leave her in the box for the rest of time," Klaus smirked before walking towards the two coffins in the centre of the room, he lifted both of the lids and revealed his siblings, Kol and Finn.

"Finn is going to be so angry with you," Rebekah spoke amusingly, "he's be in there for 900 years."

"Seriously?" Elena sounded shocked.

"You heard right," Rebekah crossed her arms across her chest, tapping her foot rhythmically, "Kol for over a century."

"Then let's not make them wait any longer," Klaus pulled the dagger from each of there chests and tossed them to the floor, watching as they remained still, "this could take a while."

-w-

A few hours later, Kol had woken up, life returning to his once desiccated body; he had sat up in his coffin, a loud gasp escaping his lips as he filled his lungs with air once again, he looked around the room and saw his siblings, including Klaus.

"You," he growled as he used his speed to lunge for his brother, his hands wrapping around his neck; Klaus was unscathed by his attacks but will still happy to see him.

"I'm sorry, brother," Klaus pushed Kol off of him and stood up, helping Kol up with him.

"How long was I in that box for?" He spat, his rage not subsiding.

"Not that long," Klaus shrugged his shoulders, trying to distract him "Finn should be awake soon, we'll all be together again, a family."

Kol had ignored Klaus and went straight to his liquor supply, that's when he noticed Elena standing quite far back, she was staying out the way whilst they all reunited, she didn't feel like she should be there in the first place but both Klaus and Elijah insisted.

"She's human?" Kol questioned, his eyes locked onto Elena, "there's another doppelgänger?"

"I'm Elena," she smiled nicely towards him, this being there first meeting, she wanted to make a good impression.

"Good to know," he was quippy and sarcastic most of the time, throw a bit of brotherly rage in the mix and you could understand why.

"Don't be rude, Kol," Klaus snarled slightly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, brother, that tends to happen when I've overslept," he rolled his eyes at his brothers words before drinking an entire glass of whiskey, "I'm out of here, I might find a nice blonde to snack on."

Before he could leave, another loud gasp filled the room and Finn had sat up in his coffin too, he seemed the most confused; he had long hair and was dressed in clothes long out of date, Elena felt bad for him, 900 years was a long time.

He used his speed to attack Klaus, he hadn't even spoke; he was enraged at his brother, he look around the room, everything seemed so different to how he remembered it!

"That's enough now," Elijah stopped the fighting and the squabbling, "we're all together now, that's all that matters."

"Elijah, how can you defend this animal?" Finn growled, curling his hand up into a fist and colliding it with Klaus' face.

"I deserved that one, Finn but no more," he pushed his brother back away from him, the pair of them standing only inches away from each other, "I kept you all safe whilst Mikael was dealt with, some of you would have been dead if it wasn't from my protecting you."

"Fathers dead?" Kol asked, his attention back to the room.

"Yes, Kol, he's dead," they didn't know what to make of it, although he was there father, he was a monster, maybe even more so than his brother, "we can all move past this and start again, anywhere we want."

Elena had just stood awkwardly at the back of the room, just watching at the family dynamics between them; Rebekah had approached her and stood beside her, her arms crossed, "my family are a disgrace, want a drink in the kitchen? Leave the mad men too it."

"Definitely," she didn't hesitate with her answer, anything to leave the room; Rebekah had snuck the bourbon bottle from the table and they both scurried out of the room, a wave of relief washing over Elena.

They entered the kitchen, Rebekah grabbed two glasses from the cupboard and poured them both a drink; Elena took the glass and brought it to her lips, her head was still a bit woozy from the bottle of wine at dinner so she took her time with this one.

"I'm sorry for my families behaviour, it's typical of them though, should calm down eventually," Rebekah was swigging her bourbon like it was water, "I love them all but they are annoying."

"I don't even know why Klaus invited me to it," she commented, before taking a seat at the table with Rebekah, "I thought you would all want to be alone."

"Because he fancies you," she smirked at her words, as if she was a teenager talking boys with a girlfriend.

"No, he doesn't," she shook her head, laughing it off.

"Not from what I've heard," Rebekah playfully winked at Elena.

"What have you heard?" Elena's lips parted slightly, the fact that her and Klaus' relationship had become the main point of gossip amongst the Mikaelson's.

"Well, I heard that he has decided not to make hybrids anymore and if I know my brother, that would have took nothing short of a miracle, so a girl then," she chuckled slightly, "oh and Elijah told me you both spent the night together."

"I'm gonna kill him," it was nice that they could get along, Elena wasn't particularly enjoying the topic of conversation but she was trying to make an effort.

"Which one?" They both chuckled at Rebekah's words.

"Right now, both of them!" She took a large sip of bourbon, "but I'll let you know."

They tapped there glasses against each other's and continued to talk; Rebekah had told her some of the history behind there family, some stuff about her and Klaus' time spent together on the run before he daggered her, what happened with Finn and Kol but nothing much about there mother, Elena was growing increasingly curious about her, she had a bad feeling about her.

Elena had also divulged some information about herself and Mystic Falls, Rebekah was growing fond of it and a few people that resided there, one human in particular, Matt; she told her what she wanted to know about him, they where being really girly on the topic of boys and high school. Elena had not expected to sit with her for 3 hours gossiping but she was enjoying it, Rebekah too.

After a while, Klaus and Elijah had walked in to join the but they where completely shocked to see them getting along. They both laughing hysterically and when they saw them standing in the doorway, there laughing only grew louder.

"She's-" Rebekah words stammering slightly, "going to kill you both."

"Yep, that's what-" Elena gasped slightly and put her finger to her mouth, "shh, we weren't supposed to tell them."

"Oh no," Rebekah's lips parted before she face palmed, "I ruined it."

"Are you two drunk?" Klaus smirked at the sight of it, finding no end to his amusement.

"No, you're drunk," Rebekah protesting, the giggling continuing.

"I think we should get you both up to bed," Elijah exclaimed, shaking his head slightly at the entire nights festivities.

"Noo way," Elena crossed her arms stubbornly, "you go to bed."

Klaus ceased his laughing and walked towards Elena, taking her hand in his, "come on, love, you should get some sleep, big day tomorrow."

"Ooh, what are we doing?" She asked sheepishly before taking his hand and standing off the chair, she wobbled into Rebekah and gave her a hug, her words still slurring and giggly, "you're my favourite person in the whole world and I love you."

"I love you too, don't go," Rebekah kept hold of her hands when she broke the hug and kept trying to pull her back, a small pout on her lips.

"We leave you two alone for a few hours and now you're Cagney and Lacey?" Klaus spoke amusingly, before prying Elena away from Rebekah.

"You're no fun, brother," Rebekah poured herself another drink and watched as they walked away.

Klaus helped Elena up the stairs and into her bedroom, just as she walked in, she nearly tripped over a pair of shoes she left strewn about from her quick change earlier, her ankle twisted and her body fell, Klaus quickly caught her and held her, "we need to stop meeting like this, love."

His voice was so smooth and sexy, the dimples in his smile making butterflies kick up a storm in her stomach; her gaze was locked on his as she slowly wrapped her hands around his neck, bringing his face closer to hers, "thank you for saving me again."

"Anytime," she placed a soft kiss on his lips, her hands entangled in the ends of his hair, he pulled her up by the waist and brought her body closer to his, indulging in a long and heated kiss for a few long minutes, "bed time now, sweetheart."

"Stay with me for a bit?" She lay down on the bed, her eyes already half closed from the amount of alcohol in her system; Klaus lay down on the bed beside her, quite nervous by being with her so intimately, sex was easy for him, companionship wasn't.

But he did it anyway, he couldn't say no to her; he wrapped his arms around her and brought her closer to him, her head resting on his chest. He started stroking her hair and placed a soft kiss on her head, just for one night, he wanted to feel closer to her.

-w-

Elena felt like death the next morning, she managed to not vomit the entire contents of her stomach but her head was aching; she was still wearing the clothes she had on the day before and she had serious bed head. She went into the bathroom and ran herself a cool shower, any warmer and she'd throw up; she brushed her teeth, straightened her hair and threw on a pair of blue denim shorts and a black t-shirt, slipping into her black converse.

She walked downstairs and into the kitchen, everyone but Finn was there; the light shining in through the window caused Elena's eyes to squint.

"Good morning, love," Klaus smirked, amused by her current state.

"You are so loud," she rubbed her head and wait straight for the coffee, "aspirin, I need aspirin."

"Top drawer to your left," Rebekah said before pulling open the drawer and tossing Elena the pills, she just about caught them but she moved so fast she went dizzy, "I had fun last night."

"Yeah, me too," she smiled towards her before taking the aspirin with a large swig of coffee, "I'm paying for it now though."

She sat down at the table opposite Klaus and Elijah, both of them staring at her, "what?"

"Oh nothing, he's still bent out of shape about your death threats last night," Klaus answered, a small laugh escaping his lips.

"What are you talking about?" She asked, completely confused for a long minute, "oh wait."

She could hear Rebekah giggling under her breath from across the room, Elena just threw her head into her hand, more embarrassed about her behaviour than anything else, "I'm sorry."

Both brothers laughed, they hadn't truly meant what they said but they couldn't resist teasing her, "oh my god, you're torturing me."

"Can you really blame us? You two where hysterical last night and whilst we trying to mend our family, you both where in here talking about us all," Klaus tormented her.

"You heard us?" Elena suddenly went red.

"Not all of it, like Niklaus said, we where trying to mend our family," Elijah smirked, enjoying watching Elena struggle.

"You're evil and I hate you both," that was mostly the hangover talking but her whole body was aching so she got a free pass.

"Leave the poor girl alone, brothers, can't you see she's suffering enough," Kol finally spoke, he was sat at the end of the table reading a newspaper, catching up on the world as best he could.

"He's right," Elijah agreed, "we have more pressing business to attend too."

"Well, that doesn't sound like I'm gonna be able to curl up in a ball and feel sorry for myself whilst watching the notebook," Elena sighed slightly, wallowing in her hangover.

"It's Finn," Klaus suddenly turned serious, "after we all finished talking last night, he left with Kol to feed and when they came back, we where all in bed; he must have snuck out when he realised we where all previously engaged."

"Maybe he'll come back," Elena shrugged her shoulders, finishing off the rest of her coffee in her mug.

"He took mothers coffin," his voice turned solemn, his gaze turning to Elena's, she understood why this was a serious problem.

"You don't think he'll revive her, do you?" She questioned, sincerely hoping for a big no!

"Definitely," Elijah interjected, his demeanour unchanged, "he has always hated our existence, that's why Niklaus daggered him so long ago; given the chance, he'd revive our mother in order to destroy us all."

"We need to find him," Klaus continued to speak, "the only lead we have is New Orleans, there is a witch there that's powerful enough to bring her back and he already knows how to unseal the coffin."

"So, we get to Finn first before he has the chance," Elena suggested, "oh and whilst we're on the topic of family that wants to kill you all, are you sure you don't have any murderous uncles or cousins lurking about?"

"Ha!" Rebekah laughed, probably louder than she should, a smirk falling onto Elena's lips.

"Not that I'm aware of," Klaus answered, trying incredibly hard to resist her, she was endearing when she was sarcastic and mean, "and it's not long lost family I'm worried about, I'm convinced you'll be the death of me."

Elena laughed shyly, her head dipping slightly; she tucked her hair behind her ears nervously, he loved how she did that.

"Seriously, what is going on with you two?" Kol broke his silence once again, whipping his paper down onto the table.

"Nothing," both of them answered quickly and simultaneously, there eyes shooting to each others.

"Right," Kol rolled his eyes, completely suspicious of them both; he went back to reading his paper, deciding to remain ignorant.

"Anyway," Klaus cleared his throat and shuffled in his chair, straightening his back and returning to the matter at hand, "I've made arrangements to fly to New Orleans, the earliest the jet is ready is tonight at 11pm, so handle your affairs and pack, we leave then."

"I think you're the only brother here with affairs to handle, brother," Elijah quipped, his eyes shooting towards Elena sneakily; he smirked out of amusement and enjoyed the torture he was inflicting on his brother.

"Now, where did I put them daggers again," he toyed, Elijah simply chuckled before nudging Klaus' arm.

Kol and Elijah left the house, leaving only Klaus and the two girls; Elena had poured herself another coffee and started reading the paper that Kol had left.

"Well, I'm gonna go pack or something," Rebekah spoke, walking towards the exit.

"I'll come up in a second, we'll pack together," Elena offered, Rebekah nodded her head and left the room, leaving only Klaus.

"You feeling any better yet?" He nodded his head towards the third cup of coffee that she was nursing in her hand.

"Yeah, getting there, the aspirin helped too," she chuckled under her breath before closing the paper and putting it down on the table, she placed her arms on the table and leaned forward towards him, "I just wanted to say thank you for last night, when you got me into bed and stayed with me for a while, I was extremely drunk and probably annoying, so you didn't have to do that."

"I was surprised you asked me."

"Why?" A puzzled expression covered her face, her head tilting to the side slightly.

"I guess everything about this still surprises me," he answered as best he could, he could barely voice what was on his mind, "as much as I want to stay away from you to protect you, I can't."

"Then don't," she shook her head slightly before standing from her chair and sitting next to him, her hand taking his, "stop trying to protect me, I want you to just be honest with me."

"I can't," he looked at there now joined hands, his eyebrows furrowing slightly at the contact, "we have to stop."

"Then let go of my hand and walk away, I'm not going to stop you," her words stung him, more than he thought it would; he pressed his forehead to hers, his free hand stroking her cheek, "tell me you don't feel like there's something here."

"I will only disappoint you, Elena," he placed a soft kiss on her forehead before releasing her hand, his forehead still pressed against hers, he couldn't move, "everything that has happened between us was a mistake, you will end up hurt."

"Tell me you don't feel something here," she repeated, her heart hammering against her chest; he was silent, he had to push past his emotions and save her from him.

"There's-" she pushed her lips against his before he could finish, her arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him in; he wanted to fight her but he couldn't, he smoothed his hands over her body and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her onto his lap. She wrapped her legs around him and the back of the chair, her hands pulling at his hair and her body pushing against his.

She buried her head in his shoulder, placing hard kisses along his neck; he ran his hand up her back, his other hand still holding on to her waist as he pulled her in as close as she could be.

She landed her lips on his once again, her tongue massaging against his; he moved his hands around her waist and up her stomach, one hand wrapping around the back of her neck and the other caressing her boob. She moaned lightly on his lips and grabbed the end of shirt, pulling it over his head and moving her hands down his chest and squeezing into his waist.

She reached underneath her and unbuttoned his jeans, her hand rubbing against his erection; he groaned on her lips and using his speed, he took them into the living room, laying her down on the couch, her legs still wrapped around him.

He ripped her t-shirt in two and started to remove her pants, his mouth trailing along her skin as they slid down her; he was mesmerised by her body, her perfect skin and her smile, he couldn't keep away any longer. She sat up slowly, her eyes locking onto his as she held onto his neck and sat him back, she placed soft kisses along his stomach, pulling down his pants and sitting back on his lap, teasing the tip of his erection with her entrance before fully allowing him to slide into her, small moans escaping there lips.

She rocked her hips, sliding up and down on him, her breasts rubbing against his bare chest; he held onto her waist, moving her up and down as he thrusted into her, there movements in perfect sync. They moved harder and faster, there desire for each other becoming stronger.

He held onto her and used his speed to lie her down on the couch, his body towering over her; she wrapped her legs around his back and pushed herself against him, feeling him enter further into her. Her walls tightened around him and her hips bucked, she dug her nails into his back and pushed him further within her, he thrusted in and out of her, his speed increasing with each motion. She started moving her leg up his body, smoothing over his back and her thigh rubbing against his arm, he kissed her leg roughly, plunging inside her harder.

She moaned loudly and repeatedly as they moved rhythmically together, her hips grinding against him and he was inside her as deep as he could be, he thrusted into her hard and her body began tingling, her area becoming wetter as she writhed beneath him, her legs pushed into him and her back arched causing him to spill inside her, they remained entwined for a long minute whilst they came down from there orgasms together.

Her breathing returned to normal after a few minutes and they untangled themselves from each other; Elena slipped her pants back on and picked up the two pieces of her t-shirt, holding them up towards Klaus, smirking slightly, "I liked that shirt."

He smiled amusingly at her whilst he got dressed, pulling his pants up and slipping his shirt over his head; he couldn't remove his eyes from her, standing there with only her pants on, he grabbed her hand and pulled her in, placing a soft and long kiss on her lips, "you're beautiful."

"You're not too bad yourself," she smiled on his lips and kissed him for a little bit longer before eventually separating them, which was proving to be a difficult task.

"I better go pack with Rebekah," she rolled her eyes upwards, gesturing towards her, "she's probably heard everything and now I get to go talk to your sister about it."

"Good luck," he placed a soft kiss on her cheek and she turned away, her arms crossed as she tried to cover herself up; she went upstairs and tried to sneak past Rebekah's room, she had music blasting through the stereo whilst she packed. She went into her room and quickly took a shirt out of the case and slippedinto it, she walked back to her room and knocked on the door before entering.

Rebekah's clothes where everywhere and she had two cases opened out on the bed; Elena smiled kindly at her, walking further into the room towards her.

"What took you so long?" She asked, as she turned the stereo down and returned her attention to folding; Elena was starting to wonder if she was in the clear and she hadn't heard them.

"Oh, I was just finishing the paper," Elena offered the lie and started helping her fold some clothes, piling them up inside the case.

"Oh, really?" She nodded her head over dramatically and tossed an item of her clothing at her, "I obviously heard you, hence the music."

"Oh my god," Elena turned a bright shade of red and buried her face in her hands, sitting on the edge of the bed and incidentally, the clothes she had just folded, "you really heard us?"

"Ew, Elena, that's my brother," she shook her head in disbelief, tossing more clothing at her; she lay her head backwards on to the bed in between the two cases and placed her hand on her forehead.

"Am I crazy?" She rubbed her forehead, her headache still not completely gone.

"Yes," Rebekah responded abruptly, Elena sat up and tossed a pillow at her, both of them laughing, "I have noticed a difference in him lately."

"What do you mean?" Elena shifted her entire body to face Rebekah, her legs crossed beneath her.

"He hasn't been as intolerable as usual," Rebekah moved the case from the bed and sat in front of Elena, "don't tell him I said this, he'll deny it but he actually seems happy. I hoped you had something to do with it."

"Why?" She questioned, her brow furrowed.

"All Klaus has ever needed is someone he trusts, that's why he daggered us, he didn't trust any of us, some for good reason," she rolled her eyes slightly, referring to herself, she always chose other love over family, "Although he is a monster, I truly believe he can change."

"I hope so too," she tilted her head to the side, delving further into her thoughts, "he keeps trying to push me away, claiming it's too protect me because he think's he going to hurt me."

"He probably will at some point, we all slip, just don't abandon him like we did."

"I can't imagine ever abandoning him," she shrugged her shoulders lightly, her mind easing slightly after there talk; they went back to packing and organising her things, Elena suddenly feeling more clear.

"Are you two still packing?" Klaus popped his head around the door and few minutes later, a sneaky smirk appearing his lips; he had been downstairs listening in to them, the perks of being a vampire.

"We're nearly done," Elena said, placing a few folded clothes into one of the cases, "I still don't get why she needs so many clothes."

"I've asked the same question for centuries," they both snickered, teasing Rebekah.

"Just in case," Rebekah rolled her eyes, "we could be there for a while or there is a really big party we need to murder, I'll need the right dress."

"Very funny," Klaus turned his attention to Elena, "when you're done, do you mind if I speak with you in private?"

"Sure, I'll come find you," they shared a long moment, there smiles and facial expressions filled with kindness and he had completely softened before he left the room; Elena's heart skipped a beat, the smile not leaving her face whilst she finished packing up the rest of the folded clothes.

"I still can't believe you two-"

"Shh," Elena quickly placed her finger on lips, bringing it up to her ear and tapping the space beside it, "walls have ears, Rebekah."

"You will have to tell me everything at some point," she moved in front of Elena and turned her around to face the door, "now go and pack your miserable little case and get to my brother, I can finish up here."

"Hey," she exasperated as Rebekah pushed her out of the room and closed the door behind her, Elena just rolled her eyes and laughed slightly, returning to her own room. She didn't have much to pack, only the stuff she had already wore over the last few days, she really needed new clothes.

She was curious as to what Klaus had wanted to talk about, she was slightly nervous in case it wasn't something good, after her talk with Rebekah, she was feeling good about there situation.

She threw the last pair of jeans in the case and zipped it shut; she left the bedroom and walked downstairs, she entered the living room and saw Klaus sitting on the sofa, nursing a glass of bourbon.

"Hey," she spoke, a smile appearing on her lips; before she sat down, he had stood up, placing his arm on the small of her back.

"My brothers have returned, would mind stepping outside with me?" He placed the glass on the table next to the sofa; Elena nodded her head and they walked through the mansion together, she was a bit more nervous now, he hadn't seemed as happy as he did before.

He opened the door for her and stepped out, he followed behind her and closed the door; he placed his hand on her back once again, leading her down the pathway away from the house.

"You seem nervous?" She questioned, he seemed really distant with her and closed off.

"Not so much nervous, more concerned," he started, stopping just before the exit of the mansion; he hoped they where far enough so his siblings couldn't overhear.

"Concerned about what?" She asked.

"New Orleans," he paused for a second, his gaze flickering from her and looking anywhere else, unable to look her in the eye, "my family and I lived there for a while, there's a whole history that you aren't aware about, I was quite monstrous then; we had the time of our lives, we partied, we fed and we had blended with society there, all our darkness came out at night and I want you to hear it from me, not anyone else."

"Don't," she pursed her lips, thinking for a long moment about the situation she was in, "I don't need to know, I trust you, if anything comes up, I'll talk to you about it. I understand you're past, Klaus and I can move past it, it's present you I like, just the way you are."

"Are you sure?" Elena nodded her head at his words, taking his hand in hers; he was truly compelled by her and her compassion, her willingness to forgive drew him in more, he'd never been like that before or known anyone like her.

"Of course," she reassured, tugging at his hand slightly, "come on, let's go inside, we'll have coffee."

"Wait," he said abruptly, stopping them in there tracks, a smirk appearing on his lips, "did you just say you like me?"

"What?" Her cheeks turned red again, she hadn't really thought before she spoke, she felt like a silly teenager, "no, I said I like-"

"Shh," he pressed his lips against hers, ending her rambling before it began, he brought her closer and spoke on her lips in a hushed tone, "you're beautiful, Elena."
