Elena lay in the bed next morning, her head propped up on her hand as she watched Klaus sleep; her mind wandered to the night before, there time spent in the bathtub and the passion between there bedsheets, the images flooded her memory of the two of them intertwined in each other, she'd never felt so blissfully happy before now.

"Do you often watch me sleep?" He spoke sleepily and with his eyes still closed, a small smirk curling up on his lip.

"I think I've seen you sleeping about 3 times since we got together, so no, not that often," she grinned, bringing the edge of the sheet up to cover the lower half of her face, hiding her embarrassment of being caught.

"I'm not entirely sure how comfortable I am with this, it's rather creepy," he's said playfully, turning his body onto it's side to face her.

She nudged him slightly, laying her head down on the pillow to match his line of sight, "if you wanna talk creepy-"

"Let's not go there," he quickly interjected, hoping to avoid the long list of less than comfortable things he's done in the past; she laughed lightly, enjoying there extended time in bed together, "you look incredibly beautiful in the morning."

"You mean the bedhead and pale skin?" Just as she spoke, he brought her closer to him, placing a soft kiss on her lips.

"You're perfect, Elena and even with a 'bedhead', you're a work of art," he spoke on her lips, a small smile appearing on his face.

"I love you," she whispered onto his lips, her hand moving up his chest and trailing across the skin along his neck.

"I never thought I'd love anyone like I do you," his sweet whispers on her lips and his hands caressing her waist was fuelling a heat within her; she pulled herself completely into him, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck as there lips joined once again, barely able to stop herself from touching him.

She wrapped her leg around his waist and pulled herself up on him whilst forcing him onto his back, her thighs now straddling his hips; there kiss remained unbroken as she grinded her body against his.

A small groan escaped his lips, her friction causing him to hold tighter onto her hips; all he could do was admire every inch of her, her soft skin, the curve along her thighs leading up to her stomach and the innocence in her smile. Her kiss sent him into a frenzy and he brought her as close to him as she could be, his hand smoothing up the curve in her back and landing in her hair, bringing her face further into his.

She glided her hands along his torso and moved her hips slowly against his manhood, enjoying the moans that escaped his lips at the contact; she broke there kiss and started trailing her lips down his body, placing small kisses down his chest, crossing his stomach and reaching further down.

Her heart began to race as she wrapped her lips around his erection, her hand holding onto the space that couldn't fill her mouth; she moved her mouth up and down on him, her tongue encircling him as she pushed it further back to her throat. She fought the urge to gag and kept sliding her mouth up and down him, her tongue teasing the tip of his penis.

After a few long and pleasurable minutes for Klaus, he groaned so loudly, he couldn't take the desire exploding within him anymore; he used his speed to sit up, grabbing Elena and sitting her on his lap but she kept teasing, her entrance still moving against him.

She could feel how much he wanted her, his hands explored her body so vigorously, that she could feel his tension building up; she lowered herself on his manhood, not completely but enough so he could feel inside her.

He buried his head into her shoulder, his teeth grazing along her skin and his hands pressed against her back; she obliged his desire and slid herself onto him completely, small moans escaping her lips as he thrust into her, her wet walls encasing him.

He had built up so much frustration that he pushed himself inside her roughly, causing a loud moan to escape her lips; she pressed her hands against his shoulders and dipped back slightly, her hips slamming against him. He gripped onto her ass, his fingers causing small dents in her skin and he moved her harder against him.

She couldn't control the moans that elicited from her lips, she couldn't stop them from becoming louder the deeper he buried himself inside her; her whole body tingled, her wetness spilling out around him.

"Oh my god," she screamed out, throwing her body into his and wrapping her arms around his back; his groans where turning into growls the more she rocked on him. He used his speed to lay her down on the bed, his body towering over hers, she instantly wrapped her legs around his back and placed her hands on the back of his neck.

He thrusted deeper and deeper within her, his hips slamming against hers; she rocked rhythmically, matching his moves the best she could but her entire body was tingling and her hips bucked. His groans where becoming louder as he held onto her body tighter, spilling inside her, causing her to scream out once again as she climaxed again.

They stayed interlocked for a long minute, her breathing uneven and her body writhed as they came down from there climax together; he lay down beside her, pulling her into him, she rested her head on his chest and wrapped her arm around his waist, "I wish we could stay here all day."

"Me too," he placed a soft kiss on the top of her head and stroked her hair, "how about I take you to dinner tonight? I have some business to attend too in the day but I'd like to treat you tonight."

"Sounds perfect," she placed her hand on top of his, her fingers sliding between his and she reached up to kiss him. They stayed in bed for a little while longer, enjoying a blissful morning together.

An hour had passed, they where both up and ready to conquer the day; they made themselves coffee and began to discuss the events of the day, all whilst Elena whipped herself up a little breakfast, mainly toast and cereal.

"So, where are you going today?" She asked, before taking a small bite of toast.

"Marcel has asked me to stop by, apparently Father Kieran heard of what happened with the witches and isn't too pleased about it," he sipped at his coffee, his eyes flickering from his morning paper to Elena as he spoke?

"How much does Father Kieran know?" She paused for a long moment, her mind wandering as she gulped down her coffee, "obviously he knew about Marcel and Davina but I summed that up to compulsion."

"I'm afraid not, the town has several elders that try to keep the vampires and witches at bay, they fear the quarter will be completely lost to the vampires," he shrugged his shoulders lightly, "he has yet to see what is to come once I force Marcel to stand down."

"Just another day in New Orleans," she smirked slightly, before finishing off her cereal.

"Do you have any plans today?" He asked, folding his paper in two and placing it on the table, bored by the articles and dull news.

"I'm meeting with Davina, I said I'd take her too lunch, Rebekah is supposedly coming too but she's not answering my calls, I'm hoping she's still stuck in a bar somewhere with your brothers and not in danger," she stood from the chair and walked to the coffee pot, pouring herself another mug and mixing in the cream and sugar.

"She'll be fine, they all will be, celebrations for a vampire can last days," Klaus smirked slightly.

"I'll pop into Rousseau's on my way to lunch with Davina, check on them all," she sat down beside him once again, her hand nestled in his.

They finished there coffees together, enjoying what was left of the most normal morning they've had together alone without all of his siblings before; the aim for the day was normal, she wanted to have a quiet lunch, spend time with her friend and go for dinner with Klaus, hopefully she wasn't asking too much.

She grabbed her jacket and slipped her arms into it, her bag resting on her shoulder before she kissed him goodbye and jumped into her car; she drove off, heading for the compound.

She couldn't help but turn on the radio and have a singalong to some of the tracks aired; the sun was shining, the original parents where dead and the witches weren't going to be a problem for a long time, her mood was the best it had been in a long time.

Elena finally arrived at the compound, the gates where already open, so she parked up and headed inside; it was relatively quiet, there where only a couple of day walkers sat about the courtyard, they seemed to ignore her so her presence must have been planned.

"Davina?" She called out, glancing around the upper floor, "Marcel?"

"We're up here," she heard Davina respond and headed for the stairs, walking across the hallway into the main room where she was fumbling about to get ready, "sorry I'm late, I haven't been too lunch in nearly a year."

"She's been obsessing all morning," Marcel grinned playfully, happy to see Davina excited for something.

"You haven't seen Rebekah, have you? Even Kol and Elijah hadn't returned last night," she asked casually, before helping Davina to get ready by picking out a white summer dress and handing it to her, "where this, you'll look super cute."

"I left them in Rousseau's a few hours ago, we had a crazy night, they weren't finished," he smirked slightly, remembering the drinking and the dancing that stretched on all night.

"I'm definitely not going near that, I was gonna check on them before lunch," she grabbed Davina a denim jacket and her bag, holding them until the young witch was ready.

"I wouldn't, the bar was a mess, Cami wasn't happy, at all," he seemed to subconsciously smile at the mention of her name, even Elena noticed his eyes light up slightly.

"So, how do I look?" Davina walked out of the bathroom, sporting the summer dress and a pair of strappy wedges, a huge grin plastered on her face.

"You look great, D," Marcel stood from his chair, approaching the young witch, "have a good time, call me if you need anything, okay?"

"Thank you, Marcel, I will," she hugged into him tightly before releasing him, walking towards Elena and taking her things, slipping into her jacket and throwing her bag on her shoulder.

"You look so pretty, I feel wildly underdressed," she smiled kindly towards Davina before linking her arm to hers and heading towards the door.

"Hey, Elena, wait," Marcel followed behind, a slight hint of nervousness surrounding him, "you don't happen to know what Klaus is planning today with Father Kieran, do you?"

"I'm not getting involved in vampire business today, it's just us girls," she cracked a smile towards Davina, eager for there day to start, "but no, I don't, he was in a good mood this morning though, definitely works in your favour."

"Thanks, Elena," he nodded his head towards the doppelgänger and they continued to exit the compound.

"So, what do you feel like eating?" She asked as they walked towards the car, Elena slid in the drivers seat with Davina climbing in next to her; they buckled there seat belts and she drove off, there day starting.

-w-

They had spent the past several hours together, Elena took her for food, a short shopping trip and too a movie, they had bonded a lot and laughed even more; they spoke about there past, Elena divulged her history in Mystic Falls with the Salvatore's, told her about her brother and how she had to leave everyone behind, her relationship with Klaus and her connection to his family and everything else in between.

Davina was starting to feel closer to Elena, she told her about her parents, how her mother allowed her to be a part of the harvest, even though she was aware she was going to die, she told her all about Tim and her friends at school and how she missed her normal life, they really got to know each other.

Elena dropped her off at the compound, walking her to the entrance and pulling her into a tight embrace, "I had a good time, the most normal day I've had in a long time, so thank you."

"No, Elena, I should be thanking you," the young witch held onto Elena for a long minute, "you saved me from that attic and the harvest."

"You didn't deserve any of that," she couldn't help but sympathise with Davina, she felt awful about the things that had happened to her, "I'll call you soon, we'll do this again, don't stay stuck in the compound."

"I won't," they both released each other from there friendly hug, a small smile on the young witches lips, "are you heading back now?"

"I wish," she sighed slightly, pulling her phone from her bag, reading over the lists of missed calls from the Mikaelsons, "I'm gonna pop by Rousseau's and save Rebekah and Kol from themselves, I'll see you soon."

She waved towards Davina as she walked further into the compound, she saw Marcel on the balcony and he waved to her too, relieved she returned the young witch to him fully intact and happy. She jumped back into her car and drove the short journey to Rousseau's, unsure of what to expect.

-w-

Elena pulled up at the bar, taking the key out of the engine and throwing it in her purse; she just stared at the building and let out a mild sigh, it had been 24 hours since she last saw the Mikaelsons and she didn't know what to expect, she'd only ever seen Rebekah slightly drunk before and that was intense enough, never mind throwing Kol and Elijah in the mix too.

She stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut behind her, walking towards the door and entering, "oh no."

A cursory glance saw destroyed furniture, louder than normal music, empty bottles of bourbon scattered around the floor and several humans partying along side them; she stepped over a passed out male by the door and walked further in, she found Rebekah tongue deep in what appeared to be a college student, Kol had 3 females surrounding him and Elijah was stood at the bar, laughing quietly to himself.

Each of them had dried blood on there chin and they looked terrible, she had no idea how she was going to drag them home.

"Oh, Elena," Rebekah excitedly called out to Elena, her head popping over the top of the booth, "I'm so glad you finally joined us, these two are getting boring."

"Speak for yourself, sister," Kol smirked, his eyes flickering from the girls to Elena, "I'm merely distracted."

"Yes, Elena, join us for a drink," Elijah had appeared beside her suddenly, holding a glass with a small shot of bourbon in it; she had never seen him so loose, she was surprised by what she was witnessing, "I rather enjoy your company."

"I'm actually here to take you all home," she shook her head slightly, a small smirk appearing on her lips.

"Booo," Rebekah and Kol spoke simultaneously, the pair of them laughing uncontrollably at synchronicity.

"We're not going anywhere, our parents our dead and we won the war with the witches, we may be here for several more nights," Rebekah spoke, her eyes fixated on the young male between her thighs.

"So, if we do not plan on leaving, then it would appear you must stay, for our own good," Elijah spoke so nobly, yet he didn't seem himself, Elena was intrigued, to say the least.

"If you want to stay here, drinking yourself into nothing, then fine but I'm heading back," as Elena went to spin around and leave the bar, Rebekah appeared in front of her, placing her hands on the doppelgängers arms and turning her back to the face the bar.

"Come on, live a little," the blonde vampire spoke, taking Elena's bag and tossing it to Kol, he turned the music up louder and Rebekah began dancing beside her, moving her body against Elena's.

"If you don't stay, we may end up doing something we regret, you couldn't let that happen to us, could you?" Kol mused, a hint of snide in his tone of voice.

"You're acting like such children," she shook her head slightly, walking towards Kol and snatching her bag from his grip, "I'm going home, you should all join me and sleep."

"Well, I'd like too," Kol mumbled under his breath, his gaze on Elena drifting lower and a small amused smirk spreading on his lips.

"Kol, where is your honour?" He mused, holding the drink towards her and shaking it slightly, if he had been any closer, he'd knock her over.

She just rolled her eyes and walked towards the exit of the bar, stepping outside to make a call. She pulled out her phone and dialled Klaus' number, pressing the speaker to her ear.

"I'm happy to hear your voice, my love," his sweet voice rung in her ear, her entire stress related tension easing.

"I'm glad to hear you're safe," she spoke softly, "but you're not going to like why I'm ringing, you're family are insane."

He laughed slightly at her words, "this is not news to me, just come home, they'll soon return."

"Are you sure? I feel like if I leave, they'll do something wrong," she just shook her head slightly, she hated how much she sounded like the strict parent in this conversation.

"They're bluffing, they'll be back by the morning as annoying as they usually are," she couldn't help but chuckle at his words.

"If you're sure?"

"I'm sure, now come back to me, I have a surprise planned for you, my siblings will be fine."

"I'll see you soon," she smiled somewhat excitedly as they hung up there phones, she got in her car for the last time of the day and drove off, slightly worried by leaving them all alone.

When Elena arrived back at the plantation, she was relieved to be home, she hadn't realised how tired she was from the events of the day; she had been walking and driving around New Orleans for the majority of her time and then dealing with drunk original vampires was more draining then she initially thought.

She unlocked the front door and walked in, throwing her jacket and bag on the coat rack and stepping towards the living room; her lips parted slightly as she entered, the lights where dimmed and there was several candles lit.

"Klaus?" She called through the room, walking towards the dining room and pulling open the double door entrance.

"Oh my god," she spoke as she saw an entire candlelit dinner prepared, he was stood beside the table which was dressed in flowers and more candles, there was a bottle of red wine and two glasses set in the centre, "did you do all this?"

"Well, since I couldn't take you to dinner tonight, I thought I would surprise you with a romantic evening in, starting with drinks and a home cooked meal I had cooked by the most talented chef in the French quarter, right here in our kitchen."

"You're amazing, I can't believe you did all this," she grinned from ear-to-ear, her heart warming more and more by the second; she walked towards him, throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him into her, her lips crashing onto his.

They indulged in a long and heated kiss, her heart pounding against her chest at his contact; she was completely surprised by his actions, she had always known he was a romantic at heart, a troubled artist always is but to go to such lengths for her was completely new to her.

"Take a seat, my love," he pulled out a chair for her and waited until she sat down until he sat beside her, pouring them both a large glass of red, "you make me incredibly happy, so if I'm drinking to anything tonight, it's too you."

Her body heat had rose to her cheeks, turning them a bright shade of red, "I actually want to drink to us, I've never been as happy as I am now and it's all thanks to you, I love you."

"I love you, Elena, you're happiness is all that matters to me," he held his glass towards her and she tapped her own against his, both of them taking a small sip.

After a short while of engaging in casual conversation and finishing there first glass of wine, Klaus had brought in there meals, filet mignon with dauphinois potatoes and roasted vegetables, Elena was impressed and completely loved up.

"I still can't believe you did all this," the candlelight and the vase of roses was encouraging the romance within her to spark, placing her hand on top of his, "I didn't think it was possible to feel so strongly like this about someone, I can't imagine being any happier with my life than I do now."

"Elena," he paused for a long moment, her words causing his heart to pound against his chest, "for as long as I can remember, I thought I was unable to express my feelings and deepest emotions, I hid behind battles and bloodlust but the truth is, I've never had feelings like this before and all I want to do is tell you and show you how much you mean to me because you're everything, you're my reason for existing, I've just never met anyone that could spark some life within me and for that I'm grateful to you."

"Klaus," she spoke softly, the butterflies in her stomach kicking up a storm.

"I'm going to spend the rest of my existence ensuring your happiness and showering you in the love you deserve, you're the most special person I've ever met."

She could feel herself well up slightly, her tears glistening against the candlelight and causing her eyes to sparkle, "I love you and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Niklaus Mikaelson."

They continued to engage in small conversation whilst they ate there meals; he spoke mostly about his life, divulging the more embarrassing and futile events in his history, he made her laugh more than she had done in a long time. he found amusement in the very few stories she had, they mostly consisted of teenage antics that occurred at high school, they could barely contain there laughter when she recognised how young she actually was compared to him.

The food went down well and the wine was flowing, the second bottle already cracked open and they had moved into the living room; they sat on the sofa together, Elena crossed her legs beneath her and turned her body to face him.

"We haven't spoke much about the future," Elena spoke, taking another small sip of wine.

"Would you like too?" He had never really planned a future with another person, he'd spent the majority of his life alone, so this was a whole new avenue for him.

"Maybe," she spoke coyly, "it could be the wine talking but I'd like to know what you think about for after you take back the quarter."

"I'm not the best at these particular conversations, Elena," his eyes flickered down to his wine glass, watching the red liquid swirl momentarily, before looking back at her, "but for you, I can try."

"We don't have to if you're uncomfortable," she tilted her head to the side, watching as his entire body tense up.

"It's fine, ask me anything," he shot her a kind a smile, forcing his usual air of confidence to radiate around him.

"Okay," she paused for a long moment, pondering her next words carefully, conversations like this won't happen too often, "what do you see yourself doing after the battle with Marcel is over?"

"If you had asked me that question a couple of weeks ago, I would have told you I wanted to stay here and rule over the quarter, my enemies would fear me because I will have an army of hybrids and vampires behind me, I'd be unstoppable, we could live in peace and safety."

"And now?" Her eyes where fixated on Klaus, curiously listening to him.

"And now, I'm not sure, to be completely honest with you, I'm not entirely sure if I want to rule over the quarter any longer," he admitted, baring his heart to her completely.

"What changed?" She was slightly taken back by his confession, the entire time they had been together , this was the plan, this is what she was planning her future around and now he was questioning himself.

"You did, Elena," his voice broke and emotion seeped through, his eyes locked onto her.

"Klaus-"

"I'll see it through, I'll take back New Orleans from Marcel so I can ensure our future safety but I do want you to know that it won't be permanent and it's not what I want for you, when I know we can live in peace without any past enemies coming back to haunt me, then we can go anywhere you like, live however you want to live."

"I don't know what to say," she smiled softly, tucking the loose hair that dangled across her face behind her ear, she had suddenly become nervous, "I'm happy to stay in New Orleans if that's what you truly want, I don't want you be unhappy."

He couldn't help but smirk slightly, amused by her choice of words, "I told you I may have past enemies, you accept I want to take back the quarter and all you cared about is my happiness?"

She laughed quietly, shaking her head slightly at herself, "enemies and battles don't surprise me anymore, there part of your life for now so I'll stand by you through all of it, no matter how challenging."

"You're something else completely, Elena, I just hope we can make it through all this," his eyes wandered to his glass again, concern etching on his facial features; Elena didn't want to pry but she felt as though he knew so,etching he wasn't willing to tell and she only hoped it wasn't anything too bad.

"We can make through it anything, I love you, that's all that matters," she reached out and took his hand in hers, he brought there interlocked hands to his lips and placed a soft kiss on her skin, his tension beginning to ease.

"I love you, more than anything," he stroked his thumb across her skin, caressing her hand "what do you want for the future?"

"I haven't quite decided yet, I'm feeling a bit stuck, I know there's several things I want to do, like go travelling, study in a good college and grow as a person but I don't know how all this normal human stuff fits into a vampire life without becoming a vampire," she always seemed saddened by the topic of vampirism, it was something she never thought she would want for herself but it would be something she'd have to consider at some point.

"Elena, you can do anything you please in life without turning into a vampire, these are things we can figure out when we need to, I love you for who you are and that isn't going to change, I will support all of your decisions, present and future," he moved his hand towards her face, the back of his fingers stroking the skin along her cheekbone.

She curled her fingers around his T-shirt and pulled him into her, her lips crashing onto his in a forceful and passionate kiss, pouring all of her love and emotions into it; in this moment, everything was perfect, nothing could spoil it, she dreamed of the future they could have together, regardless of the obstacles in there way and soon, those very same obstacles would challenge there relationship and everything they hold dear.
