Family troubles

Story:

The first few weeks after The Battle of Hogwarts was, for the most part, trying to get their world up and running again. The funerals for all those that died fighting for the light were done within the first two weeks. The ones fighting for the dark that died, had their bodies sent through the death veil in the department of mysteries, which included the body of Voldemort.

Kingsley Shacklebolt and some of the order of the phoenix had taken complete control of the ministry for magic. They all wanted to make sure there were never anyone that followed the dark arts still working inside the ministry. They made sure those fighting for Voldemort and survived were put on trial but this time they had to take veritaserum before they would be found innocent or guilty. There would be no more people saying they were under the imperius curse, without proof. Veritaserum was all they needed to get proof. Those that survived that had been fighting for the dark, only three were innocent, the rest were guilty and were sent through the veil in the death chamber. No one wanted to take the chance that they could somehow escape to begin another war. No one wanted to go through what they had been. It was time for peace. But it wasn't just death eaters that were questioned with the truth potion. Kingsley decided that while he was in power, he was going to question every person who worked at the ministry with veritaserum. After seeing and hearing what people like Fudge and Umbridge were like, Kingsley was determined that they will never again have those types of people running their country.

One thing Kingsley changed straight away was laws on blood status. No longer would someone be hired just because they were a pure-blood. There was going to be set rules for hiring and one was the newt scores the person applying for the job had received. They also had to do an aptitude test. Sometimes people were just not good at tests but they were perfect for a job and could easily do the job. The aptitude test would show who would suit the job and who wouldn't.

Minerva McGonagall decided that since she was now headmistress, she was going to make some changes at Hogwarts. First, her and the staff had to repair the ancient castle so the students could return to continue their magical education.

Minerva had heard a lot of different complaints from students over the years she had been at Hogwarts. The other teachers had also heard many complaints. One thing that almost all of them complained about was the lack of peace and quiet while they tried to study when it was after curfew.

Many idea's were thrown around, like having curfew later or having study rooms set aside somewhere in each house rooms that could only be used for studying. But in the end it came to a simple solution. Minerva said that since this was a magical castle that could be changed, she decided that each student would now have their own dorm room. They were not big but big enough for a bed, a wardrobe, a bedside cabinet, along with a desk, chair and bookcase. There was also room to dress. Now each student could spend time with friends in the common room but if they wanted peace and quiet while they studied, they could do so in their own room.

One of the other complaints was about students from different houses who were friends being able to spend time together that wasn't in the library where they couldn't talk, or in the great hall where it wasn't very comfortable. Minerva had the house elves organise a dozen of the old unused classrooms to be turned into common rooms that could be used by all students. Special portraits had been placed in each room and those people in the portraits could instantly notify a teacher if there was trouble. The ghosts of Hogwarts would also be in and out of those rooms to keep an eye on all the students.

One thing that most of the staff agreed on, they didn't believe they would have to worry about dangerous students who were following Voldemort, or their families did. Those that had been at Hogwarts and followed Voldemort were either dead or in Azkaban. There would only be half the older Slytherin's returning. Those were from families who were neutral or light. There were the odd student from other houses that had joined Voldemort, they were also in Azkaban.

Another change Minerva made was stricter rules against bullying but also all students will have to show proof of wrong doings before anyone was given punishment. No student could get away with doing anything wrong, never again. The portraits all around Hogwarts would also act as witnesses, so if they saw something, they could tell one of the teachers exactly what happened. The house rooms would also have portraits, even in places like dorm rooms and bathrooms. The girls bathrooms and dorm rooms would only have portraits with female's in them and they were spelled to make sure no one else could enter them. It was the same with the boys dorm rooms and bathrooms. After hearing about how Luna Lovegood was treated by most of the students in Ravenclaw, Minerva was going to make sure no student had to put up with being bullied like that again. It had happened a lot over the years, to many students had been hurt, whether physically or emotionally, yet Albus always believed it was best to let the students handle their own situations. Minerva and most of the staff did not agree but they could not do anything about it, until now.

There was another change Minerva made. All first year students would start three days before the rest. They would be sorted, but it would be done when they would arrive in the morning so they could get to meet their teachers and ask the many questions that all of them always have. Right after dinner, they could settle into their dorm room. It would give them time before the older students arrived. Giving them three days without the other students would also allow them to find their way around the castle. Almost every first year will get lost trying to find their classes. Now they will be shown the way by different teachers. It will also allow the teachers to explain more about their subjects before the nervous first years stepped into their class.

Another small change was that all students, from first year to seventh years could visit the village of Hogsmeade every second weekend. She also changed quidditch so that if there was a storm or really bad weather, the game would not go ahead but played the following day or the following weekend. Quidditch was already a dangerous sport, she was going to try to limit students injuries, even if that meant making sure they didn't get hit with lightning or being blown off their brooms during a bad storm.

The last big change was in regards to the prefects and head boy and girl. Minerva was going to hire people to patrol the castle. Four through the day and four of a night. This way the teachers could relax of an evening but also this allows the students to study more. She never liked the fact that owl and newt students were the ones who had to leave their studying to walk around the castle, looking for trouble makers. There would now be students in each house that would keep an eye out for trouble makers but only inside their house rooms. When the ministry confiscated all the death eater vaults, Hogwarts got a big boost of funds. That allowed Minerva to hire more staff. She was also able to have enough new brooms bought so the four houses had all new brooms but also, there were new brooms for flying lessons. New books were bought for the library and a new greenhouse was also bought, which was filled with a lot more plants.

There were changes in regards to the staff as well. Filch was told to retire, he was given a pension to live on but he had to leave Hogwarts. He was thanked for his years of work but he was also told that he did not suit being around so many children. The other staff change was Hagrid. He would now only teach seventh year newt students in care of magical creatures. He returned to being the full time grounds keeper but also he got to look after all the creatures that lived on the grounds of Hogwarts.

Shops were again open, once they had been repaired and stocked. Now visiting Diagon alley was a once again, a safe place to go to shop. Each shop also got some funds from the ministry, to help repair or stock their shops. So many had been badly damaged or had their stock stolen. Now they were once again, up and running.

Many of the young heroes of the war rested. Apart from being younger than the adults, some of them had gone through some terrible times since Voldemort had returned. Many of them just wanted to relax but also try to put those terrible experiences in the past so they can start their new lives without having to worry about what they had been through.

Harry Potter, the saviour of the wizarding world was one of those that rested. He had moved into the house his godfather left him but now, thanks to his better relationship with Kreacher, the house was no longer dark or dirty. Between Harry and Kreacher, along with a lot of magic, they were able to make the house feel more like a home. Harry wanted some of the rooms expanded so he had certain walls removed to make one larger room instead of two smaller rooms. All the wall paper had been stripped and redone, Kreacher did that. The carpets were all new but some of the old damaged furniture was gone, replaced with new furniture. All the old furniture that was still in good condition was kept, just cleaned. Harry also wanted things gone, like the elf heads, the troll leg umbrella and the snakes that seemed to decorate a lot of things inside the house. It took nearly three months to get the house looking more like a home, a home that Harry liked.

It was during this time, while fixing his home that Harry received a visit from the new headmistress. First, she asked if he would like to return to finish off his last year. Right at that time, Harry wasn't sure. He did say he probably would, just to get one year at Hogwarts without facing life threatening danger. Minerva than asked if he would return but also, if he would do her a favour. Harry would be head boy for Gryffindor along with quidditch captain but this favour was due to the fact one of her casual staff decided to retire. She got injured during the battle and her injuries will now make it impossible to stay teaching at Hogwarts. Harry was saddened to hear that but also surprised to be asked to take over her position, just for the year. Harry said he would take the position, along with being quidditch captain. It would give the other players time to settle in so they could chose a captain for the following year. After Minerva left, Harry smiled but apart from doing something he loved doing, he wasn't going to tell anyone, not even his friends. They would find out when they returned to Hogwarts.

Harry did see his friends, when he visited the Burrow. He also resumed his relationship with Ginny Weasley, which was another reason he visited the Burrow a lot. All the Weasley's, apart from Arthur, mostly spent their days relaxing, swimming or playing quidditch down in the orchard. Harry enjoyed his time with his friends and girlfriend, but sometimes he wished he could be alone with Ginny. Whenever they tried to talk about anything personal, someone always seemed to interrupt them, especially Ginny's mother. To Harry, it was like she didn't trust them spending time alone, even if that was just sitting outside in the sun or in the living room when it was raining. Molly Weasley always seemed to find some reason to be wherever Harry and Ginny was. It annoyed Harry, to the point that he begun to spend less time at the Burrow over the last few weeks.

Today was different, Harry wanted to see his friends since they were so used to spending so much time together. They were getting used to being apart but they still liked to get together whenever they could. But there was something he wanted to speak with Ginny about. Something that meant a lot to Harry, something personal.

Harry felt lucky. When he arrived at the Burrow, he could see Ginny flying around down in the orchard. He decided to go see her before her mother knew he was there. He stood behind a tree so he wasn't seen from the house, then he sent some sparks into the air so he could get Ginny's attention.

Ginny grinned as she looked down to see her boyfriend. She instantly aimed her broom down. Landing in front of Harry. She dropped her broom and wrapped her arms around him, they instantly snogged.

'I've missed you,' Ginny said the moment they came up for air.

'I've missed you as well.'

'I know why you haven't been around as much. Mum has always been like this, especially with me. But Ron and Hermione don't get watched as much as we do. Nothing will change when it comes to my mother.'

'She's becoming impossible. Anyway, apart from wanting to see you, I also want to ask you something.'

Ginny pulled them down so they were sitting behind the tree but also so they could snuggle.

'Okay, so ask.'

'You know how I've been fixing up the house, well, it's done. I think it's time I got some things from my parents house, pictures and little knickknacks, that type of stuff. I want you to come with me. I don't want anyone else in the house though. But this is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I was going to go alone but I figured since we're together, it was right to ask you to come with me.'

'Of course I will. So do you want to go today or were you just asking today?'

'I want to go today, which is why I came earlier than I normally do. I figured I could see Ron and Hermione for a while before we go. I know there's stuff in there that I want to put in my vault. Since I found out that I own the house, I've been trying to decide what to do with it. I know I'll never live in there and I know people would react badly if I tried to pull it down but I don't want it left looking the way it is.'

'Then you could repair it then just leave it as a memorial, like it is now.'

'Yeah, I thought of that but I have a feeling people will complain because it won't show the damage Voldemort did, which it why it was left the way it was. I've got time to decide but I just want to get some things to take to the house but also get some of my parents things put into the vault. Sirius told me my father bought my mother a lot of jewellery, so that's going to be put in the vault. I don't want anyone to have it but I also want to keep it, just because it was my mother's. Sirius also mentioned a jewelled handled letter opener that my dad had that belonged to his father. Sirius mentioned a lot of things that I want to put away in the vault. It's just in case someone somehow is able to get past the enchantments that Dumbledore did.'

'Enchantments like those can wear down after a while. Usually it takes years and it's already been seventeen years.'

'Yeah. I've checked it, they are still there but I think they are weakening, since Dumbledore died. Oh, also, I finally removed the old charms on the house. I plan to put on new ones now that the house is finished, except for some pictures to go on the walls.'

'Which you will get from the house in Godric's Hollow. I'm sure your parents had enough and probably not just scenery pictures. I'm sure there are family pictures around the house.'

'Yeah, there are, but I never got a chance to ask Sirius more. He just said both my parents had family pictures at the house but my mother loved meadow pictures. I want those for places like the library. That room should always be comfortable and relaxing.'

'It will be. But now let's get snogging before anyone finds out your here.'

Harry and Ginny spent the next hour snogging but they did talk a lot as well. One thing, they did get physical, but so far, they had not gone all the way. They usually used their hands and mouths to get each other off. Ginny kept saying she wasn't ready to go further, so Harry decided that would have to be up to her. He would never push her to go further than she was comfortable with.

When Harry and Ginny walked inside, Molly instantly asked when Harry arrived. He said not long ago. He knew Molly would go off if she found out that Harry had been there and alone with her daughter for more than an hour. Finally Harry explained that he wanted only Ginny to go with him to the house in Godric's Hollow so he could get some things for his house. Molly instantly refused but said they could take Ron and Hermione with them. Harry explained again that he didn't want anyone else in the house. Molly said it was not allowed, it wasn't right, Ginny was not allowed to go with Harry unless there was others with them. Harry didn't say anything, just walked out of the house, Ginny hurrying after him.

'That's it, I'm not going to put up with being treated that way. We done, over, for good. You can't get closer to someone when they can't spend time together, alone. You had to be able to spend time alone to get to know each other, to see if we can work. She's making it impossible, so that's it.' Harry turned on the spot, disappearing from the Burrow.

Ginny stood there for ages, staring at the spot where Harry disapparated from. First she was upset, now she was just angry, not at Harry but at her family.

Ginny raced inside, 'Thanks to all of you, Harry broke up with me, for good this time. I hate all of you,' Ginny snarled before she raced up the stairs, leaving her mother, older brother, Ron and Hermione staring after her. It took a few minutes before Molly wiped her hands on her apron before going to speak with her daughter.

'I believe you two need to speak with Harry,' Molly said before heading towards the stairs.

Just as Hermione and Ron got up to leave they both shook their heads.

'I can't remember where Harry lives, can you?' Hermione asked.

'No, it just disappeared from my mind,' Ron said.

'He redid the fidelius charm, which means we'll never be able to go to where he's living,' Bill said.

'She's gone, Ginny's gone, along with all her clothes,' Molly yelled as she raced down the stairs.

'She couldn't have gone to Harry's place since we've all forgotten where it is,' Ron said.

'Unless he told her the secret,' Hermione said.

'No, he did it after she came in here. He would have had to tell her the moment he did it, he was gone, she was upstairs,' Bill said.

'We need to find Ginny,' Molly said.

They all decided to split up and try to find out where Ginny had gone. Ron and Hermione were also going to send Harry an owl so they could go talk to him. They hoped Harry would be sensible and allow them to know the secret of where he was living.

It took almost all day before Bill got the idea to speak with George. It was George who explained to his brother just how badly Bill and the others had messed up. To get to know someone properly in a relationship, you had to get some time alone. Because Harry and Ginny never got more than a few minutes alone, Harry told Ginny he just couldn't see if they were going to work as a couple and since it was her family interfering, Harry wasn't going to have anything to do with any of them, which included Ginny. Ginny knew she had made a mistake by allowing her family to dictate how much time she spent alone with Harry but she figured they would have time to get to know each other. Harry felt differently, now she had lost the man she loved for good.

That night at the Burrow there was a lot of yelling and arguing but so far no one could get Ginny to return home or even talk to them. Ron and Hermione's letter to Harry returned, unopened. He wouldn't even talk to them. They all said they would keep trying. George told them all something that Ginny said to him that could happen. Because Harry is more famous than he used to be, he had hundreds of girls, woman, after him. Harry might just decide to get together with one of them, if he thought he could finally have some private time with her.

None of them knew what to do or how to get through to Harry or Ginny. Hermione understood but because she was dating Ron and they were planning on marrying after they finished Hogwarts, she had to support her future husband. Ron kept saying that they had to be around Harry and Ginny until they got engaged. Ron was like his mother and brothers when he believed Ginny should be at least engaged before she could have sex. Hermione did agree with that but she also believed that Harry would be willing to wait for sex, he just wanted some alone time with his girlfriend so they could really get to know each other. They hardly spent any time alone, they couldn't at the Burrow, they couldn't at Hogwarts or when they were spending time with the order of the phoenix. Now it seems Harry decided he wanted nothing to do with any of them.

After Harry did the fidelius charm on his home, he did go to Godric's Hollow. Harry had finally made a decision on what to do with the house. Harry called Kreacher, between the both of them they were able to clean out the entire house of everything that was in there. From furniture, to clothes. From the baby toys to ornaments, along with all the books and pictures. Everything was boxed, shrunk and taken to Grimmauld place.

That night, after having a few drinks, Harry decided to go out for a while. He ended up in a muggle pub, then just sat there having a beer while he watched everyone. He always knew the wizarding world was old fashioned, but as he sat there watching people or watching couples he realised just how behind the wizarding world was. The clothes the people wore, especially the woman, would never be seen in the wizarding world. The way couples interacted was also something you wouldn't see in the wizarding world. Harry saw some couples touching each other while dancing. He saw couples get so turned on with each other than they hurried to leave. Harry knew what they were going to do. He always said he would never push Ginny for sex and he wouldn't but he thought after dating for so long, she would be ready. Harry wanted to see how they would go as a proper couple, if he thought they would work, then he figured they would eventually get engaged. But with the way everyone kept interrupting them or being where they were, they couldn't talk about anything personal. If they did get to spend time alone and he thought they might work, he figured once they finished Hogwarts, they could get engaged, then work on wedding plans. Harry didn't know enough about Ginny to get that serious.

What Harry didn't know was that Ginny was like her family. She didn't believe in sex until the couple were at least engaged. She had been waiting for Harry to ask. What Ginny didn't know was Harry wanted to get more intimate to see if they would work as a couple. Acting like teenagers, dating, was all well and good but it didn't tell him if they would make it as a proper permanent couple. It wasn't really about sex, it was just being able to be alone, to snog and maybe some touching, but also, so they could talk about personal things. Harry was a private person, he wouldn't talk about anything personal with someone unless they were alone.

As he watched the people in the pub, he had a few more drinks. Add those to the ones he had earlier and he knew he was on his way to getting drunk.

When Harry woke the following morning, apart from having a hangover, it took him a few minutes to remember what happened yesterday and last night. He turned his head to see the woman who he went home with still asleep. He decided to just lay there and think about what he had done but also what he wanted out of his life. Now he was single again and he would probably stay single for a long time, he had to work out how he was going to live his life. Apart from thinking, it also allowed him to slowly get over the affects of how much he drunk the night before. He did conjure a glass and some water but he made sure the woman, who was a muggle, was still asleep. Water was always good after drinking too much the night before. When he had enough water, he banished the glass.

It was nearly an hour later that the woman woke. One thing Harry remembered from the previous night, the woman had no idea who he was, she was also only after a fun night. They did have fun, dancing at the pub before going back to her place, for sex and a lot of it. Harry thought she was nice and would love to stay friends with her. He figured having friends in the muggle world would give him more reasons to to spend time away from the wizarding world and all the staring.

After saying goodbye, Harry found a place to have some breakfast. He wanted to eat before heading home. He knew he would be begin to sort through his parents things. He also knew it was time to add some finishing touches to the house. He left a lot because he thought eventually he would be sharing the house with Ginny. First living together then if they did get on enough to stay as a couple, they would eventually marry. Now he was going to make the house suit him. He knew at least for the next year or so, he would remain single. He wanted to finish Hogwarts, then work out what he wanted to do after he left his education.

Harry knew, due to his reputation of being the saviour that he could probably have any job he wanted in the wizarding world. That was not Harry, he wanted to do something that would fulfil him but also give him satisfaction. From the moment Voldemort died, he knew he would never be a auror. He only picked that job as he figured it would help with the war. Now it was over, he knew that was not the type of job he wanted.

Harry began to put a lot of pictures that his parents owned, up on the walls. He also sat many on mantles or just sat them on book shelves, in between books. There were lots of scenery type pictures, which he did put in the library. There were lots of pictures of the Potter's and the Evans family. Harry was pleased that there were none of Petunia. There were pictures of his mother at different ages and some with her parents. He also read that some were with cousins or aunts and uncles. It was the same with the potter's, lots of pictures of his dad at different ages, along with many pictures of his parents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Harry was finally getting to see more of his family.

It was while he was sorting through the stuff he got from his parents home that he found something that gave him an idea on what he wanted to do. He decided to take a few days to think it through and if he felt the same, he would see if it was possible. Harry went back to Godric's hollow where he cast the fidelius charm, then he began to remove the house, vanishing it. There was now just an empty block of land, but no one would see it since the charm was done and he wasn't planning on telling anyone the secret of the house in Godric's Hollow.

Over the next week while Harry finished putting a lot of his parents things around the house, he got a lot of owls. There were many from Ron and Hermione, some from Molly and Arthur and a lot from Ginny. The only one he decided to read, for now, was from George.

He wasn't surprised to find that George supported his views on what had been going on between Harry and Ginny. George also explained that he was now in a serious relationship with Angelina, they weren't engaged, they weren't even talking about a future together. For now, they wanted to see if they would make it as a couple. George also wrote that he and Angelina spoke with Ginny, who was staying there at the flat above the shop. They explained to Ginny about their relationship and thought the way Ginny and her family were acting was wrong, which is why they supported Harry. Even seeing her brother and his girlfriend, Ginny still believed couples should be very serious before going further. George said it was because she was raised in a very old fashioned family. She didn't realises that even the wizarding world was moving forward and Ginny was going to be left behind. Harry was raised in the muggle world where it wasn't unusual for boys and girls to have sex when they were fifteen and sixteen and sometimes they didn't stay together.

It was after reading George's letter and responding, he decided to read the others. He threw the ones from Ginny, Molly, Ron and Hermione in the bin, without responding. He did think of answering Arthur. Even though that letter was from Molly and Arthur, they both wrote their own opinions. It was Arthur who thought everyone was being too unfair to Harry and Ginny. A couple needed to spend time alone to really get to know each other, yet Molly, bill, Ron and Hermione never allowed Ginny and Harry more than five minutes alone. Arthur understood that Harry was a private person and wouldn't talk about things while others were around. If he wanted to talk to Ginny about anything personal, he couldn't because someone was always near them.

Harry did write back to Arthur. He said yes, it was unfair but it also showed him that no one in the Weasley family trusted him. They showed that so easily when he could not spend five minutes alone with his so called girlfriend. He wasn't one of them so he wasn't trusted. He could never forgive any of them for that and he will never again date Ginny because she never once complained to the others that she couldn't get any time alone with Harry. It was over, for good. He told Ginny that, now it was up to Arthur to explain to his family that they destroyed Ginny and Harry's relationship.

Harry used his invisibility cloak whenever he left Grimmauld place. He could apparate from the top step so no one could see him as the top step was inside the fidelius charm. He had seen Ron, Hermione and Ginny standing across the street, at different times but they never saw Harry. They didn't even hear him apparate as Harry's apparition was now silent.

Harry didn't remove his cloak until he got near the castle. He waved to Hagrid and some of the staff who were outside, still repairing the castle. He made his way up to the head's office, which now didn't have the gargoyles stopping anyone from going up the stairs. He knocked, hear the headmistress call out to enter.

'I believe you suit this office Professor,' Harry said in a way of greetings.

Minerva smiled, 'I believe I will do a good job as headmistress. Take a seat Harry.'

'Where should I take it?' Harry asked with a smirk making the woman roll her eyes at him.

'Your father said that to me many times Harry and he always ended up in detention. I did not believe I would hear it from you.'

'Well, I can finally loosen up Professor. I don't have to always be worried about danger, or death. I can finally have a bit of fun.'

'Yes which tells me I will see more of James coming out in you. Now, please, sit down.'

Harry laughed before he sat, 'So, what did you think about what I wrote in my letter?'

'I believe that is something you could easily do. But are you sure you do not want to get your newts Harry?'

'Yeah. Since about third year I knew I would never work for the ministry or be something like a healer. I realised after it was all over, that I didn't really need them. I would either work in the muggle world, work in something like quidditch or even just help George at the shop. When you spoke to me about filling in as the flying instructor here at Hogwarts, I began to think that this could be exactly what I want. I always loved flying and I plan to teach Teddy when he's old enough. I did help Colin and Dennis a few times they wanted to have a fly when the quidditch pitch wasn't being used.'

'I believe you would make an excellent flying instructor. You are able to connect with younger students since you are still young. Also, because of who you are and your reputation, I believe the students will never think of misbehaving on you. Which should cut down on injuries. If you decided to become our full time flying instructor and quidditch referee, you will have to learn not to be bias.'

'There were times when I wanted you to get stricter with some players on Gryffindor. If I see one of them doing something wrong, I will be saying something. I know not all the Slytherin's would be like the ones who were here over the last twenty years so I don't think they will cause any trouble. I really liked Madam Hooch Professor but she had one flaw, she could not do enough magic to protect the players. It's like when that rogue bludger went after me. She did not have enough magic to stop it. If anything happens, even something simple like falling from a broom, I can at least float that player so they don't get hurt.'

'Yes, you could. Rolanda always got upset when she could not prevent a player being hurt during a game or a student getting hurt during flying lessons. Even though her injuries will make it hard for her to keep flying, I believe her lack of magic is another reason she decided to retire. Alright Harry, you sound certain and I know you will do a good job so you are now one of the staff of Hogwarts. You may get called upon to take the odd detention, since you will have a lot more free time than the rest of us.'

'I don't mind doing that Professor. I'll help wherever I can. During my free time, I am mainly going to study, keep learning, I'll be able to always have use of the library. During my years as a student, I always had so much on my mind that I just couldn't concentrate on anything. Now I plan to learn while I've got time.'

Minerva and Harry spoke for a while longer before she had Harry sign the forms that would make him an official member of the staff. That was the last staff member she had to find, now she could finally release the information that Hogwarts had a full staff and would be ready for the students when they returned in September. The first years who would be coming in the last week of august, by portkey, then the rest of the students who would start on the first of September, like always.

A house elf showed Harry to the quarters that would be his while he lived at Hogwarts. Because he was only a casual staff member, he was able to have two nights and two days a week away from Hogwarts. His fireplace in his quarters were charmed so he could leave from his room. It allowed Harry to have a life outside of Hogwarts, which would allow him to still visit muggle pubs. He wanted a separate life since he basically lived in the wizarding world and the muggle world.

It did make Harry wonder if he does end up meeting anyone, would it be a muggle woman? He had nothing against muggles, just the Dursley's and the people who lived around Little Whinging. But even thought he had time for things like relationships. He was going to concentrate on his new job and basically, his new life.

It was only a week later that the Daily Prophet had the story about the staff of Hogwarts, a picture was published as well. Everyone found out that Harry was now one of the staff of Hogwarts, as flying teacher and quidditch referee.

Arthur saw the story first and knew right then that no matter what, Ginny and Harry would not be getting back together. The staff of Hogwarts were all single, they could not marry or have relationships. He might not know that since Harry was only a part time staff member, he could still have relationships, he just could not bring the person to Hogwarts.

'It's done, there is no use trying to get Harry to listen to us or see Ginny.'

'Why would you say that Arthur? Harry just needs to understand how things work,' Molly said.

'Harry is now working. He signed his contracts, for the next five years with an option to sign for longer. He is now a member of the Hogwarts staff. All the staff of Hogwarts are single, that is a rule if anyone wants to work at Hogwarts. Even if two young people were working together, they could not be a couple if they stayed at Hogwarts. I will go see Ginny before heading to work.'

Arthur left the paper on the table so his Ron and Hermione could see it. They had also been part of the reason Harry broke up with Ginny. Now they will find out that even if they saw him, nothing they said would help. Harry signed an unbreakable contract. The only way Harry could leave Hogwarts before his contract was up was if the headmistress sacked him, but he would have to do something terrible to get sacked.

It was the following day that Harry received a lot more mail. He sent every letter back without reading them. He finished packing the things he wanted to take to Hogwarts with him, to make his rooms more homely. He sealed the house, told Kreacher to head to Hogwarts before he took the floo straight into his rooms. Even though students would not be coming to Hogwarts for at least a month but he figured he could help the rest of the staff finish repairing the castle. It was almost done, there was just some of the upper floors that still needed repairing.

As Harry joined the staff for lunch, he had no idea that there was a lot of yelling going on between Molly, Ginny, Ron and Hermione. Ginny stormed into the Burrow, told her mother she would never see her again, that she was leaving the Weasley family for good. She hexed Ron and Hermione before storming out. Ron had thought he could talk to Harry about changing his mind until Hermione explained how the contracts for staff of Hogwarts worked. The young couple finally realised they had not only helped break Ginny and Harry up, they had drove away their friend. He refused to answer any letters and they never saw him anywhere in the wizarding world. They could see him when they return to Hogwarts but he was a staff, they could not talk to him like a friend. Also, the only reason Ron could interact with Harry was when there was a quidditch game on where Gryffindor played. Hermione had no reason to interact with the flying instructor.

During the next month, before the students returned to Hogwarts, Harry got into a routine. He might only be a part time staff member but all staff had dinner and breakfast in the great hall. But Harry also got some tips from Rolanda Hooch while she was still healing. She remained at Hogwarts to continue her potions but planned to leave a week before the students returned. She was great with her advice which Harry soaked up. She did admit to Harry that even though her injures would make flying painful and difficult, she also believed they needed someone who could use magic, to prevent injuries.

Harry already planned to learn a few spells to help with flying lessons. He remembered how Neville got hurt but it was when Rolanda took Neville to the hospital that Draco Malfoy had flown off, he had followed Malfoy. Either of them could have been seriously injured so Harry decided he was going to learn spells to prevent the brooms being able to fly unless he was there. Harry had also found a charm to add to the goal posts. He saw many players hit the posts and ended up with broken bones. He decided to charm them to feel like they were padded. The player might still hurt themselves but they wouldn't end up with any serious injures.

One thing Harry found out after he moved into Hogwarts was that he had an office. He wasn't expecting to have an office but since he did, he put a few pictures in there as well. He would add more, depending on how often he spent in there.

He was given the schedule for flying lessons, the quidditch schedule would be done by him after the captains put together their teams. Harry was now getting excited about his new job but also the fact that he got to stay at Hogwarts. He got a life outside of Hogwarts but the castle would now be basically his home and probably would be until he felt he was too old to fly. That wouldn't happen until he was very old. But Harry also knew that he could end up meeting someone and if he did and they got serious, then he would have to leave Hogwarts. It's the reason he only signed a five year contract. If he hadn't met anyone, the he would sign another but he had worked out with Minerva to sign year by year. She knew Harry could meet someone, this way he would be able to leave once the year was up.

Harry walked around the castle with the rest of the staff while they showed the new first years around. It was then that it really hit him that he was a member of staff and he could remain at Hogwarts for a very long time, if he wanted. For now, he was looking forward to introducing these small first years to flying a broom. He could already tell which ones would be looking forward to it and which ones weren't.

Even though the new first years were sorted into their houses, they all spent their days with all the other first years. There was only one large round table for them in the great hall. Minerva said it could help create friends without houses getting in the way.

Some of the first years that were raised in the wizarding world did stare at Harry a lot and he did hear them tell the muggle raised first years just who Harry was and what he did. Harry acted like he couldn't hear them when they spoke about him but otherwise he was friendly and answered most of their questions. He never answered anything about Voldemort but he did tell them that they would learn that when they were older.

The day before the students were due to arrive, Harry went out for a night in the muggle world. He had a few drinks before meeting up with the woman he had spent the night with. They ended up dancing, drinking and having a lot of fun before they ended back at her place. He did explain that he had to leave early in the morning as he was starting his new job. He said he was a sports instructor at a private boarding school. They ended up having a good night together before both falling asleep. Harry did charm his wand to alert him to the time he needed to wake up. He had done that in the bathroom so the woman, sherry, did not see magic or see his wand.

When Harry arrived back at Hogwarts, he took a hangover potion before showering. He then joined the staff in the great hall for breakfast. It was the first of September and all the staff were enjoying the last of their free time before the rest of the students arrived. After breakfast, Harry spent most of his time in his private quarters.

One thing Harry did learn weeks before, was where all the short cuts were so after the feast, he could sneak away without having the two Weasley's or Hermione trying to talk to him. He had learned another spell that would help him as well. It was the one that Dumbledore had used on his office door that would tell him who was there. Now Harry added that to his office door so Harry would know who it was and if it was Ron, Ginny or Hermione, he could ignore it. No student knew where the staff's private quarters were, they were hidden. Most students believed they were behind their classrooms and in a way, they were but the door at the back of the classroom led to a corridor that led to their rooms. Harry's room was in a corridor that was charmed to prevent any student from entering. Minerva had known that some of Harry's old friends might try to visit him in his room and Harry said he would rather not have any, so she charmed the corridor for him. It would allow Harry to have his privacy.

Now it was time for the staff to get to the great hall. Harry was seated between Hagrid and Filius. Filius was now the deputy headmaster but since the first years were already at Hogwarts, he didn't have to go meet them. Hagrid wouldn't need to meet them either and bring them in on the boats. Harry thought that was a good idea, especially that night due to the heavy rain.

Harry ignored all the students as they filed in and just kept talking to Hagrid. He ate but still kept talking. He made sure if he did look around, he never looked at his former girlfriend or best friends.

When the students were finished, Harry slipped out through the door behind the staff table. He made it to his room in a few minutes. He knew sooner or later Hermione, Ron and Ginny would confront him but he would just act like a teacher and he even planned to take points and give detention if they tried to act like a friend.

Harry had known that starting as a staff member the same time as Ron, Ginny and Hermione were still students, would give them the opportunity to talk to him. But Harry had been planning how to act and what to say if they did. But for now, Harry got through the first night the students had returned, now he just wanted a good night sleep.

Facing his ex friends and ex girlfriend would happen, but he just wasn't worried about it. He finally felt like he had the life he was meant to have and he was going to enjoy his new life.

The end:
