Harry's hidden power

Story:

Harry Potter had been at Hogwarts for five days now, he had been watching and listening. He knew his life at Hogwarts might not be a lot better than it had been at the Dursley's. But his life there got better, when he realised what he could do. Now he knew what he could do was in fact magic, he would have to be more cautious so no one finds out, but he would use his gift to deal with the bad people.

Harry had been told by the Weasley twins all about Snape. He had seen the man glare at him quite often yet the man had never met Harry. For some reason, Snape hated Harry.

Harry had to use his gift twice already, on his first friend, Ron. It seems Ron likes to speak before he thinks and began to insult many people. The last time Ron went to say something cruel to Hermione, Ron ended up choking then stumbled head first into the wall. Ron ended up unconscious where he spent that day and night in the hospital. The moment Ron was release, he found Harry sitting with Hermione and Neville. He began to call Hermione bad names because she was sitting next to Harry. Again, Ron choked and collapsed, hitting his head on the stone floor when he fell, so another trip to the hospital.

Harry, Hermione and Neville were questioned about what happened but all three said they had no idea what happened. Ron went to say something to Hermione when he fell. The three of them eating breakfast and others that were sitting near them confirmed what Neville, Hermione or Harry said, they didn't have their wands so it wasn't them that caused Ron to fall and get hurt. From then on, no one suspected Harry, Hermione or Neville.

After Ron was released, he seemed to be quieter and all he did was glance at Hermione, a lot. Harry wasn't sure but the look Ron gave Hermione made him believe that Ron thought Hermione had caused his accidents. Harry would keep an eye on the red head but wouldn't use his gift again unless Ron returned to the way he was. He would give people a chance to change, but so far, Ron hadn't. He would just watch and listen and if Ron stopped bullying people, then Harry would not use his gift on him again. He had given Draco Malfoy a chance, now he was waiting to see what the blond Slytherin would do and if he would have to use his gift again.

Now it was time for their first potions class. Harry already knew he would be using his gift. He had to make sure he didn't seem suspicious so he decided to sit with Hermione instead of Ron. Ron seemed to want to say something, after a few seconds he just turned away and sat next to Seamus.

Right after Snape gave his speech, he instantly glared down at Harry who was writing. He had been writing down everything Snape had been saying.

'Potter,' Snape growled, then he began to choke. Severus had seen Harry Potter glance up through his hair and smirk. It was right then that Severus knew that this small boy was dangerous. He was more than just dangerous, he was a killer.

Severus began gasping for breathe as he moved slowly forward. He ended up tripped and falling, hitting his head, hard on the stone floor. All that time Harry had still be writing until some girls began to scream, only then did he look up and act surprised.

After the matron got Snape up to her hospital, a prefect from Ravenclaw told all of the students who had been in potions to go to the library and read their potions book until their next class.

'What do you think happened to Snape?' Neville asked as he took a seat beside Hermione and across from Harry. He was sitting beside Dean, with Ron and Seamus at either end of the table and across from Parvati and Lavender.

'He was just about to say something to Harry when he grabbed his throat,' Hermione said.

'Really, I was concentrating on writing down everything he was saying that I didn't hear him call me,' Harry said, 'The twins told me to make sure to take lots of notes when in potions.'

'He seemed to trip on something but when he was taken away, I couldn't see anything on the floor that could make him trip,' Dean said.

'Unless he tripped over those long robes,' Seamus said.

'Probably, it's why I don't like them, they make me trip all the time. I was thinking of asking Professor Flitwick about a charm that might make them a little shorter,' Neville said.

'Why Professor Flitwick and not Professor McGonagall? She's our head of house,' Hermione said.

Harry noticed Neville looked uncomfortable about answering so he did.

'She doesn't look like someone I would feel comfortable approaching,' Harry said but he smiled at Neville who nodded, 'I heard that Flitwick, Sprout and Snape spend time in the common rooms to speak with the students. We haven't had one visit from our head of house.'

'I know Susan Bones, Hufflepuff, she said Professor Sprout said she wanted the students to feel comfortable with her. Best way to do that was spending time with them when she wasn't being a teacher,' Neville said.

'I could easily see myself going to Sprout or Flitwick if I need to know something,' Harry said and got nods from his fellow Gryffindor's.

Right after dinner that night, Professor McGonagall told Harry that the headmaster wished to see him in his office. She gave Harry the password before walking off.

'What does the headmaster want with me?'

'You haven't done anything,' Hermione said, 'so you can't be in trouble. From what I found out, only if a student does something very serious are they sent to the headmaster, otherwise our head of house deals with punishment.'

'I haven't done anything wrong and I've actually earned points. Oh well, I suppose I better go see what he wants.'

'You sound like you don't like Professor Dumbledore,' Ron said as he stared at Harry.

'I don't like or dislike someone until I get to know them, only then will I decide. I've know adults that act all nice but they are bastards. I wait to see what someone is like before I make up my mind. So far, I'm not impressed with the headmaster or deputy head, but it's only been a week so I'll give it more time.'

'Why aren't you impressed?' Dean asked.

'They don't seem to care that Malfoy comes to the Gryffindor table, to cause trouble and they just sit there. I mean it's obvious none of us like him, yet he makes sure to visit us just to try to insult us. He's showing everyone that he can do what he wants and the teachers will let him. It seems to me that even the staff suck up to people like Malfoy. Anyway, I'll let you know what this is about when I get back.'

'We'll be doing our homework,' Neville said. Even though Seamus, Dean and Ron groaned, Seamus and Dean nodded along with Hermione, Lavender and Parvati. Ron was the only one that didn't agree.

Harry walked slowly through the castle. He had to keep stopping and asking a portrait how to find the headmaster's office. He finally saw the gargoyles and gave the password. He saw the spiral moving staircase, he stepped on and allowed the stairs to take him up. He saw an opened door and moved towards it.

'Come in Harry,' Albus said, then gestured for him to take a seat, 'I expected you about ten minutes ago.'

'Well, I was told the password but not how to find your office...sir. I had to keep asking the portraits, when I found one that had someone in it.'

'I'm sorry Harry, I thought Professor McGonagall would have escorted you here. No matter. I wished to speak with you about what happened in potions today.'

'Well, I didn't see anything until people began to scream.'

'Why is that?'

'Well, S...Professor Snape was talking so I was writing down everything he said. I was doing that until I heard a couple of girls scream.'

'And what did you see?'

'First, I looked at the girls to see why they were screaming and I noticed them and others all staring at the ground. That's when I saw Snape lying on the ground, he was bleeding from the head. I saw a blond Slytherin girl run out. I moved back towards the other Gryffindor's and stayed there until the nurse came in. After they left, a Ravenclaw prefect told us to go to the library and read our potions book. That's about it.'

'Did you at any time stare at Professor Snape, especially his eyes?'

'No, I saw the looks he gave me in the great hall so I had already decided to not look at him if I could help it. The moment I got into the potions room, I took out my book, quill and ink. He began talking at once about stopping death, which I wrote down. I haven't gone back over what I wrote, so I don't know exactly what he said.'

Albus sighed, 'Very well Harry. You can go.'

Harry stood but stopped, 'Do you plan to speak with all the students who were in there?'

'I have not decided if that will be necessary or not.'

'Yet you decide to ask me, someone who knew nothing of this world until a month ago,' Harry shook his head, turned and walked away.

'I would say that you just made that boy wary of you Albus,' Everard said from his portrait.

'You singled him out over all the others even though all of us know that Severus will always accuse the Potter boy before looking at anyone else. He had already been complaining about the boy before term even started,' Armando said from his portrait.

'We all know what Severus is going to say the moment he wakes. You should have called all the students together and asked them, then you could tell Severus to stop telling lies,' Armando said from his portrait.

Albus sighed again. He realised the two old headmasters were right. By singling out Harry over the other students, he just gave the boy a reason to not trust him. Albus needed Harry to trust him.

Harry began to explain what happened in the headmaster's office.

'So first, you weren't told where the headmasters office was, so you had to keep asking the people in portraits,' Dean said, 'then out of all of us, you were the one he decided to question. Why?'

'That's what I would like to know. I didn't think any of the staff would want anything from me because of the-boy-who-lived crap. Kids are different, they get influenced by the adults they are around all the time and they heard all these stupid stories. Adults should know better,' Harry said in a huff.

'What do you mean?' Hermione asked.

'Surely you aren't falling for the lies that I somehow, as a baby, kill some dark wizard. That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard and until I have seen proof, I won't believe it. What I believe, yet I can't find anything to prove or disprove, is my parents did something which allowed me to live and whatever they did, killed him at the same time. It makes more sense that my parents somehow was able to protect me from the killing curse than for me to be able to defeat him. What did I do, throw a dirty nappy at him or throw one of my toys at him, which destroyed him? Apart from me and my parents, not to mention Voldemort, no one else was there that night so there's no way anyone would know what happened. For some reason, someone made up that story about me and turned me into some hero. I'm nobody's hero. I'll help, do what I can but I will not place myself in harms way if I can help it.'

'I wonder who said you were the one. In the books I read about that night, it just says you somehow destroyed...him, by deflecting the killing curse off you onto him. You survived, he disappeared and your scar is the proof,' Hermione said.

'Well, that's basically proof it's a lie right there. I read up on the killing curse the second night here after you told me what was in those books like the rise and fall of the dark arts. It says that the killing curse leaves no mark what so ever, nothing. I would say it was either another curse that he used which is why I got the scar or I got the scar from the killing curse but it didn't kill me because of something my parents did to protect me from dark magic.'

'You do make sense Harry,' Lavender said, 'We all grew up hearing you survived the killing curse and had the scar.'

'Yeah but that's another thing. From what I found out so far, I was placed with the bitch sister of my mother because of some blood protection. I was hidden so no one from this world could find me because so many got away with their crimes, his supporters I mean. By just telling someone I had this scar, identifies me. I had these weird looking people bow to me when Petunia took me shopping to carry all her packages. If I'm supposed to be hidden away, why were they able to recognise me by my scar? That's basically painting a target on my back.'

All the other first year Gryffindor's seemed to go over what Harry said and they all agreed. None of them knew if they could find out what happened that night but they were beginning to believe Harry. His parents did something, not Harry, or it wasn't the killing curse. They also realised that what Harry said was true. By telling people about the scar, that identified Harry, which meant anyone could have found him. If it was a death eater, they would have killed Harry the moment they saw him.

The following day, the Gryffindor first years strolled out of the castle and down onto the quidditch pitch. They were having their first flying lessons.

The moment Madam Hooch and Neville disappeared into the castle, Draco Malfoy instantly began to cause trouble. Harry rolled his eyes as he tried to get Harry to follow him and all Harry did was smirk as the blond took off on one of the brooms. Harry made sure to keep talking to his friends and saying how much of an idiot Malfoy was, not to mention, he acts like a five year old. The way he acts shows his a spoilt brat that will never make anything of his life. Even though Harry was talking with the other Gryffindor's, he was concentrating on his gift.

Just as Madam Hooch was returning after taking Neville to the hospital, there was a loud scream and a thud. Draco Malfoy had fallen when the broom he was on broke apart. He landed hard on the wall of the quidditch stadium. If he wasn't dead then he would have a broken back. The screaming started, but only from the Slytherin's. Madam Hooch raced up to the boy while Harry and the other Gryffindor's all went into the castle to find their head of house to inform her what happened.

Harry had been planning on dealing with Malfoy since he knew the blond would continuously cause trouble and Snape would automatically support Malfoy. He also read that Lucius Malfoy was accused of being a death eater. That told Harry exactly what the Malfoy's were like. He was going to watch all the other Slytherin's, but so far, none of them had said anything to the Gryffindor's and only a few gave the Gryffindor's some nasty looks or laughed when Malfoy insulted them. He left them alone and would only use his gift if they tried anything. He would eventually get rid of Snape, for good, he just had to work on some plans so no one would get suspicious of him or any of the Gryffindor's. He was hoping to find a way to get rid of Snape while Harry and his friends weren't anywhere near the man.

After McGonagall dismissed them, Harry told the other first years that Hagrid had invited him for tea. All of them wanted to go as well, so Harry shrugged and the group walked back out of the castle and down to Hagrid's hut.

Between all of them they explained to Hagrid about what happened during their flying lesson. Neville was the only one not there, since he got hurt when he fell, so he was still in the hospital, with a broken wrist.

Albus spoke with Rolanda Hooch about what happened but since she didn't see anything, he had to question all the first year Gryffindor's and Slytherin's. He decided to do what Armando said and get them all together. It would also give him an idea on who would try to lie and he might just find out if anything happened before Draco decided to fly without a teacher present.

Harry didn't speak the whole time the headmaster questioned the first years. Everyone else was explaining what they heard and saw. But it was Gryffindor's that explained about Draco taking Neville's remembrall, taunting Harry before flying off.

'Do you believe he wanted Harry to follow him?' Albus said but only glanced at Harry.

'That's what it sounded like Professor, but we can't say if that's what he planned,' Parvati said.

'He did say to Harry, come and get it, that he will leave the remembrall up in a tree,' Hermione said.

'It does sound like he wanted Harry to follow him. You did the right thing Harry by staying on the ground. No teacher was present, so the rest of the did the right thing. You may go.'

The Slytherin's didn't know what to do but they knew they could not accuse anyone, not without proof. They didn't see anything as they had been watching the Gryffindor's. None of them had their wands in their hands so they knew that none of the Gryffindor's had caused Draco to fall. The Slytherin's only looked away from the Gryffindor's when they heard Draco scream.

It was announced at dinner that Draco Malfoy had died due to his injuries. The governors began to investigate and found out that he fell because of the old brooms. It had split and broke apart which is why Draco fell to his death. It had been Lucius Malfoy who kept saying they could not afford to replace the school brooms. Because of that, he just lost his son. The other governors instantly ordered new brooms for Hogwarts, for the flying lessons and for quidditch. Lucius also lost his job as one of the governors for giving bad advice.

Snape had tried to get Albus to arrest Harry Potter but Albus had already questioned all the students. Harry was in no way responsible. Draco caused his own death by flying when there was no teacher present and Harry nor any other Gryffindor had a wand in his hand. When Severus stormed out of the office, Albus knew he would have to keep an eye on his potions teacher so he didn't do anything to Harry Potter.

During the night, Albus had a visit from a house elf. The elf informed him that Professor Snape was lying on the ground, outside. The moment Albus got outside, he instantly knew Severus was dead. He also noticed the Severus was directly below the astronomy tower. Albus had the house elf wake the heads of house but also the astronomy teacher. Those were to help him investigate what happened to one of the teacher. There were portraits or ghosts everywhere, so they questioned them to see if any student was out of their house rooms between the hours of three and five in the morning. By the time the sun came up, Albus found out that no student was out of their house rooms during that time, which meant that it wasn't a student who caused Severus' death. He did inform the aurors, who arrived to begin investigating. One thing Albus noticed with the aurors, most didn't seem to really put in much effort into their investigation. Albus knew not many people liked Severus Snape, it seems the aurors were only going to do the bare minimum and that was all.

The students were informed at the end of breakfast about Professor Snape. Only the Slytherin's asked who killed him, none of the other students looked upset or curious, most of them actually smiled. Albus knew that he couldn't accuse anyone just because they smiled when they heard that someone died.

It was not long after Professor Dumbledore explained what happened to Snape that Harry now knew for certain he did not have to be in close proximity or even looking at someone to get them to have an "accident". He knew now he could deal with the Dursley's yet Harry wouldn't be blamed since he was at Hogwarts and he was usually with others.

Harry knew the Dursley's routine, so he concentrated on the first Saturday of the Christmas holidays. That day was when Vernon, Petunia and Dudley went to pick up Marge Dursley from the train station. She would spend the Christmas break at Little Whinging. Harry was talking with his friends in the great hall but he was using his gift to make sure Vernon crashed the car, not just crashed it but made it flip over and over. Harry knew that sometimes people could survive bad car crashes, so he used his gift to make sure those four in the car, along with Marge's dog, all suffocated. That night while lying in bed, he got curious. Would he be told? No one in Little whinging knew where Harry was because they were all muggles. No one in the wizarding world would read anything about some muggles dying in a car crash. He ended up shrugging and realised he would not know until he got off the Hogwarts express or someone spoke to him, someone like the headmaster.

It was only a few days later that Harry got another note that said the headmaster wanted to see him, again.

'Nothing else has happened so why has he called you to his office again?' Hermione asked.

Harry sighed, 'Your guess is as good as mine Hermione. I'll let you lot know when I get back,' Harry believed he knew the reasons, the Dursley's. That told Harry that Dumbledore had some person in the muggle world contact him. If it wasn't about the Dursley's, then Harry had no idea.

Harry listened to the headmaster explain how the Dursley's had been killed in a car accident.

Albus instantly noticed that Harry didn't seem upset at all, in fact Harry acted like those people meant nothing to him.

'I take it by your reaction that you did not care for your family.'

'They weren't family, I was just unlucky enough to related to...her. I hated them as much as they hated me. Is that all headmaster?'

'No, apart from informing you about what happened, I need to explain that we will need to find somewhere safe for you to stay. I was considering asking Molly and Arthur Weasley.'

'I would rather not. If I'm made to go there, I will leave.'

'Can you explain why?'

'A few reasons but the main one is Ron. He is a bully and I loath bullies. It's why I hardly speak to him. Anyway, why do you, a headmaster, decide where I have to live?'

'You are the-boy-who-lived Harry and many of his supporters would still want to kill you. I was able to use family as the reason to make sure some of those dark families did not gain custody of you. The ministry cannot deny a family member taking you.'

'From what I found out, all pure-bloods are related. I'm sure there is some relative of my father's that isn't dark.'

'There are a few but many of them are dark. A few I know of paid quite a bit of money to stay out of Azkaban and could have used money to bribe the right people so you would end up with them. Having you placed with your nearest relative was for your safety. I will do some investigating to find out if there is anyone suitable. I ask you not to mention that to anyone so word does not reach the wrong people.'

'Okay but didn't my parents have a will? I'm sure if they did they would have written down names of people who could take me.'

'Yes, that is true but we found many people who we thought was on our side were actually dark. If I get permission from you, I can see what your parents wrote, then and only then can I find out if anyone they named is not dark in any way.'

Harry stared at the headmaster, 'As long as I can read it as well?'

Albus would rather not have Harry read it as the will would mention Sirius Black. If he tried to hide it from Harry he could easily tell that the boy would contact someone in the ministry about his parents will. That would be dangerous.

'Very well. All I need is for you to write a permission note and sign it in blood, with a special quill. That will tell the department of magical births, deaths, marriages and contracts that I have permission to read the wills of James and Lily Potter. From the information I found, your father died first, so your mother's will would be the legal one. I'm sure your father named your mother if anything happened to him. I won't know until I read them. Just remember, if you have to tell your friends anything, just say the Dursley's were killed.'

'That won't satisfy Hermione. She will want to know where I'll end up living.'

'Just say you have a cousin on your mother's side. It might not be true but it would be safer. All your relatives on your father's side are second cousins or great aunts and uncles. The closest living relative has the most rights.'

'Alright, that'll work.'

'You can go now Harry.'

Albus watched Harry leave before he sagged. He could tell that the boy still did not trust him. He believed it was because of Severus. If he could find some good people to take Harry, it might show the boy he really is just trying to keep him safe. He had hoped Petunia would treat Harry like a son, seems that wasn't the case.

Just as Harry joined his friends, he had been concentrating on his gift. It was time to get rid of another staff member. Harry could feel the evil coming off Quirrell and he always ended up with a pain in his scar whenever he was in the defence classroom. That told Harry that Quirrell was somehow connected to Voldemort. This time though, Harry didn't make the man suffocate or fall from one of the towers. He had the man walk into the forbidden forest to where Hagrid said the acromantula was. Quirrell was to kill a few spiders to make them attack him. That would mean the rest of the spiders would kill Quirrell and there were hundreds of spiders. Quirrell wouldn't stand a chance.

'So what was it this time?' Lavender asked.

'The Dursley's were killed in a car accident, not that I care.'

'Where will you go?' Hermione asked.

'Dumbledore told me about a cousin on my mother's side. She's the closest living relative so she would have more right than anyone else.'

'Do you have more family?' Dean asked.

'Second cousins and great aunts and uncles on my father's side. Dumbledore said he would need to investigate them since so many who he believed were good were actually dark. But again, my mother's cousin is the closest. I just hope she's nothing like Petunia.'

It was two days later that Albus got a shock. He was reading the wills of James and Lily Potter. He read something he didn't expect. He instantly left Hogwarts and went to speak with Amelia bones.

During dinner that evening, all the students ended up surprised when Dumbledore lead a group of aurors into the hall. But the students also noticed that other aurors walked right past the doors to the great hall.

'No one is saying why they are here but they look like they are making sure we can't leave,' Seamus said.

'Yeah, it does seem like that,' Dean said.

'Surely nothing else has happened,' Hermione said.

'It would need to be something very serious to call the aurors,' Neville said, 'like when Snape died. Malfoy was explained, the broom broke, just like the one I was riding broke. He died. Snape was just found and it looked like he had fallen or was pushed from the astronomy tower so it had to be investigated.'

'With how many aurors are here, it's definitely something serious,' Ron said, 'Not all of them came in here though so they must be looking for someone.'

'Then that someone must be dangerous to us to make sure we're all here with aurors,' Lavender said.

'Do you think we'll be told?' Parvati asked.

All any of them could do was shrug. They decided for now to just finish their dinner and wait to see what happens. The only thing they were told was they could not leave the great hall, yet. They would be told when they could.

'We can't read as our books are in the dorm room. People like Ron can't play chess since he's set is in the dorm room. What are we supposed to do while we're stuck here?' Hermione asked.

'Nothing, just talk I suppose,' Dean said.

It was an hour later that the students knew something was about to happen or had happened. Most of the aurors left the great hall, but a few stayed. One auror spoke with the deputy headmistress. Professor McGonagall stood up then told the students they could return to their house rooms.

Just as the group of first year Gryffindor's walked through the doors of the great hall, McGonagall reached them.

'Mr Potter, the headmaster needs to see you straight away.'

Harry waited until the woman hurried away, 'Now what?'

'It might be to do with that cousin Harry. She might have been contacted about you,' Hermione said.

'Yeah, it's probably that. Alright, I'll see you back in the tower later,' Harry knew it was probably to do with who he would be living with and it would be to do what was written in his parents wills.

Harry went to give the old password but the gargoyles moved aside as he approached. He made his way upstairs and saw the door to the headmasters office open. He stepped in but instantly saw Dumbledore wasn't alone.

'As I'm sure you guessed Harry, this is about your parents wills. These copies are for you to keep. But there is more to this than just finding out who your parents named. There was some information in the wills that explained about two people who were close to your parents. The moment I read them, I showed Madam Bones. She is the head of the department of magical law enforcement.'

'So boss of all the aurors?'

'Yes, you could put it that way Mr Potter. Now to what the headmaster found,' Amelia went onto explain about how his parents had gone into hiding under the fidelius charm. She explained how it worked and who was the secret keeper.

Albus then went on to explain that everyone had been led to believe that Sirius Black had been the secret keeper when he wasn't. The real secret keeper and who betrayed the Potter family was in fact Peter Pettigrew.

Amelia then went on to explain about Peter being an animagus that her aurors found in Gryffindor tower.

'So the big black dog I dream about is my godfather and my parents named him to be my guardian if they died?'

'I am surprised you would remember something from that time. You were only fifteen months old,' Albus said.

'I remember a flying motorbike. I remember a crazy type laugh. I remember a flash of green light. I remember my mother begging for my life. I remember pain that never went away, it's just not as strong as it was.'

'Was Mr Potter seen by a healer headmaster?' Amelia asked.

'No, when I saw him that night, it was just a faint scar and he was sleeping peacefully.'

'I believe a healer needs to examine that scar,' Amelia turned back to the small dark haired boy, 'We'll work that out soon. But you surprised me with how much you remember.'

'Well, I know the Dursley's always lied so whatever they said anything about my parents, I knew it a lie. I would concentrate on memories while I was locked up. I remember my parents used to smile at me all the time and my mother sang to me a lot. I knew from those memories that my parents did love me, not what Petunia said that they got sick of me and dumped me so they could have a better life. She wouldn't even tell me their names. She didn't tell me my name was Harry until I had to go to school.'

'I had hoped that Petunia would raise you like a son since you were blood family.'

'Blood means nothing. Will I be able to visit my godfather?'

'I will have some escort you on the weekend,' Albus said, 'You can leave now Harry.'

Harry nodded to Madam Bones before he turned and left, 'It seems he doesn't not care for you Albus.'

'No, he doesn't. First was that I sent for him when Severus had that accident in his classroom. He saw me as singling him out. Harry knows it was my decision to leave him with his aunt. But he found out that I never spoke with Petunia to find out if she would want to take him. It's a natural part of our world, if parents died, a family member will always take in the child, or children. I didn't know that muggles were different. I also believe that he blames me for the way Severus acted. It will take a lot for that boy to trust me, if he ever does. Hopefully once he settled in with Sirius, he may begin to soften.'

'You know my opinion on Snape. Susan's letter had been speaking with many about having that man removed. Now though, he is gone, just not the way either of us expected. Well, I need to return to the ministry and you need to return to your students. Hopefully nothing else will happen.'

'I hope so as well Amelia. We've had more than enough bad news.'

'One good thing, Lucius can't accuse you or Hogwarts for his son's death. If he hadn't been cutting the funds for the school, his son may not have died. And now he has no say about Hogwarts or any reason to come here.'

Harry finished explaining to his friends about his godfather and the real person who betrayed his family to Voldemort.

'Do you think your godfather might know if your parents might have been working on some spell or ward to protect you?' Hermione asked.

'From what Dumbledore said, my godfather and father were very close. If they were going to work on some type of protection, I'm sure they would have told him. I'll ask when I see him on the weekend.'

'Is he coming here?' Dean asked.

'No, Dumbledore said he would have someone take me to see him. He's in St Mungo's for years of exposure to dementors. From what Madam Bones said, most go insane within a year but Sirius was able to use his animagus which kept him sane.'

'But he's name was not in the registry for animagus,' Hermione said.

'All Dumbledore said was Sirius, along with the one that betrayed my parents and my dad became animagus but didn't register due to the war.'

'So your dad could change,' Neville said.

'Yeah, I don't know what, I'll ask Sirius when I see him.'

It was Hagrid that took Harry to see Sirius. At one time Hagrid left to go get a cup of tea so Harry and Sirius could get to know each other. Harry began to explain about his life, at the Dursley's and at Hogwarts. Sirius ended up furious.

'I thought Dumbledore was going to take you to see a healer which is why I allowed Hagrid to take you while I went after the rat. But Snape, I can't believe that death eater wasn't in Azkaban.'

'He caused a lot of problems. He didn't know me but he began to glare at me, for no reason.'

'Snape loved your mother, she married his enemy. You look like James.'

'I didn't know my parents, so it's not like I would be like them. Anyway, he's gone, thank goodness. We just have to wait to get another potions teacher.'

'There are not a lot of potion masters but to teach, all someone needs to know is all the potions that will be in your tests.'

'They also have to know how to teach and not be bias.'

'True, you'll just have to wait and see. Once I'm released, I'll begin to look for a home for us. But tell me about your friends?'

Harry went into details about all the friends he had made in Gryffindor and how recently he had begun to make friends with kids from Hufflepuff. It started because Neville knew some so he introduced them to the Gryffindor's. He did explain about Ron and how at first they were friends until Ron turned out to be a bit of a bully and Harry hated bullies. Sirius realised he would have to be careful what he told Harry about his days with James. Some of their pranks could be classes as bullying. They might have only pranked the Slytherin's who supported Voldemort but he wasn't sure if Harry would like to hear that about his father.

Harry did ask if his parents might have been working on some type of protection spell. He told Sirius his theory as he would never believe he killed Voldemort. He believed his parents did something. Sirius did say they were working a lot, on different ways to protect Harry, but because he was working for the order of the phoenix, a lot, he never found out what they might have done.

It was right as Hagrid was about to return Harry to Hogwarts that a healer arrived. She explained that she had spoken with Madam Bones about examining Harry's scar. Since both Hagrid and Sirius wanted to make sure Harry was okay, the healer examined him in Sirius' room.

'Apart from a light trace of dark magic, it seems fine. I will say that during those few minutes of scanning your scar that the dark magic was fading. It seems it's taking a while but the dark magic is finally leaving you scar Mr Potter. If I was to make an assumption, I would say it's due to the fact that you are around magic constantly now you are at Hogwarts. The amount of light magic seems to be removing the remaining dark magic that was used that night.'

'That's good to know Ma'am. One question if I may. Can you tell what dark magic was used. You see, I don't believe I survived the killing curse. I believe my parents were able to find a way for me to survive. If it was the killing curse then my parents were able to give me some type of protection which allowed me to survive, but it was nothing I did. That's my belief anyway.'

'You could be right Mr Potter. But sorry to say, it's been too long now to find out what spell was used. It should have been investigated right after.'

'It's fine. I might never get an answer, but it does make me curious. Anyway, thank you.'

'You're welcome.'

'We have to get back to Hogwarts,' Hagrid said.

'The moment I find a home for us, I'll take you to see it on the weekend.'

'I can't wait,' Harry gave his godfather a smile before leaving with Hagrid.

Harry explained everything to his Gryffindor friends what his godfather had told him, especially about what his parents had been doing. He explained about the healer who checked his scar and how the dark magic is fading.

'So if you were raised in the wizarding world, it might have begun to heal years ago and you probably wouldn't have had any pain in the scar,' Neville said.

'Sounds like it. The healer couldn't tell me what spell was used though. It had been too long.'

'I've read that we can remove memories and watch them in an item called a pensieve,' Hermione said, 'I wonder if you could see your own memory of that night. It might be traumatic on you but it would probably give you the answers.'

'I could read up on it but also write to Padfoot and see what he knows about memories.'

'Hey Harry,' Fred called.

'We just heard you say Padfoot,' George said.

'Who is that?' Lee asked.

'My godfather, he's a dog animagus, his nickname is Padfoot.'

'Do you know of other names?' Fred began.

'Like Prongs, Moony and Wormtail?' George finished.

'My dad was Prongs, he turned into a stag. Moony was another friend but Sirius never told me why the name. Wormtail was the man that betrayed my family to Voldemort. He was a rat animagus.'

'We would like to talk,' Fred began.

'To you later, alone,' George said.

'Um, sure, I'll met you after dinner, if that's okay?'

The three boys nodded then went back to what they were doing.

'Wonder what that is about?' Hermione asked staring over at the twins and Lee.

'I'll find out later but it sounds to me like they have heard of my dad and his friends. Sirius did say that they sometimes played pranks on the Slytherin's, the death eater Slytherin's.'

'Fred and George like pranks,' Ron said.

Harry did speak with the twins after dinner. They showed Harry the map which technically belonged to Harry. They just asked if they could borrow it sometime, if it was needed. The twins also said it would be best if no one found out about the map or it might be confiscated. Harry agree with them and said they could borrow it anytime.

It was only a few weeks later that Sirius arrived while the students were having breakfast. He spotted his godson straight away.

'I found a home for us. There's a lot of land and I plan to have a quidditch pitch erected.'

'Brilliant. Have you spoken to the headmaster about me leaving with you?'

'I already worked that out. How about you introduce me to your friends before we go?'

Harry did just that by pointing at everyone and naming them. Sirius shook the boys hands, then kissed the back of the girls hands which made Lavender and Parvati giggle. Hermione just blushed.

Harry gave them a wave before leaving with his godfather. He hated apparition but he couldn't deny how quick they got from Hogsmeade to their house, which was in Wales.

Harry loved the house and thought his room was so big that it was almost the size of the whole ground floor of the Dursley's home. As Sirius showed him around, Harry kept thinking about his life now and what he had done which got him a better life. He got rid of two bad teachers and a bad student. He finally had someone that was like family but a family that actually cared about him.

Harry never found out what his gift was but he always said to himself that he would never use his gift unless he had no choice. It was mainly so he nor any innocent student would get hurt. He hoped now that he might never have to use it again.

The end:
