Chapter 2: Ruby Rose

Two days later.

Kuro is finally given the last check-up as the doctor confirms his well-being.

"Looks like you are fully healed Mr. Sterling, no need to sign any papers as Mr. Xiao-Long already paid for our services. You can call this number if you are in need of medical assistance. I bid you a good day."

The doctor gives him his business card and prescribed medicine to curb any future complications. As Kuro carries his backpack and bag full of Earth's metals as he walks out the door.

"Thank you, doctor. Well, I'll best get out of your hair then sir."

The doctor suddenly grabs his shoulder saying something that made Kuro's eye widen.

"I noticed that your body is a bit different from the people, even in hunters, so I hope that you don't get any more injured here in Patch. Don't worry about me divulging your secret to the public, patient secrecy and all. There is no discrimination here if you're worried about that."

The doctor winks at him and walks away, leaving Kuro flabbergasted and surprised as he watches the doctor speak calmly to one of the nurses in the area. Kuro shook his head as he walks out.

As the door opens, Kuro hopes that Yang isn't standing in front of him at this very moment, but alas the wishes of a young man shatter, as she walks toward him wrapping her arm around his shoulder.

"Congrats on leaving the hospital alive Kuro, that place is so boring, I wouldn't survive being confined there for a day. Come on I want you to meet my precious little sister."

Kuro was being dragged across the street when he saw a little girl hiding behind a pole. Yang stops walking as the two introverts look at each other.

"Sis, meet the friend who saved me three days ago, his name is Kuro Sterling, I think you both can get along nicely."

Ruby rose is a little girl wearing a red shirt, with a mini-cape behind her, pants that complement her style, and her belt holding a scabbard. Her hair is black with red accents focusing on its tips, with her bright, silver eyes looking at him, before bashfully looking at the ground, embarrassed. She is holding what Kuro presumed to be a book full of fairy tales. Kuro thinks it's a great opportunity to break the ice.

"Uhh, what's that book you are holding? Is it a story about people? I personally like heroes, I think that they are super awesome."

At the mention of the book and heroes, Ruby's eyes sparkle, and runs very cutely to a respectable distance between her and Kuro, showing him the book. Ruby excitedly tells.

"You think so too? Oh sorry, I should introduce myself. My name is Ruby Rose and I thought that Yang was making up stories again but I was super surprised that you were real I mean Yang told me that you are a hero, like my mom. Speaking of my mom, she is a huntress, which is super cool, so I gonna be a huntress. I mean huntsmen are heroes right they are so cool fighting the scary monsters to protect people. Yang thinks I'm too young to be a huntress, but I'm grown up. I drink milk."

Kuro looks at Ruby as she goes on to her own world. Yang looks proudly at her as she knows that both of them are getting along wonderfully, and Ruby will not hog her time in weaponry books and hero stories.

"Wow, she really gets going"

Ruby stops talking and gets embarrassed, before hiding behind her sister, peeking to look at him. Kuro laughs and thinks that she is very cute, goes to Yang, and can't help but pinch Ruby's cheeks. Letting go satisfied, he starts to converse with her. "Not you too." She mumbles. The trio walks outside the town of Patch going to their home.

On the way to the Xiao-Long Cabin.

"Yaaaaang, why did tell him that story. Now he thinks I'm clumsy and can't be a good huntress." Ruby slumped, looking down on herself, before hearing Kuro's affirmation.

"I think you'll be a great huntress Ruby. I mean you have the skills, drive, and spirit of one. You have great potential."

Kuro remembers her being the main character from RWBY, the information he has may not be totally accurate here in remnant, but a lot of common things like kingdoms and aura are still the same last time he compared it from CCT information.

"You didn't mean that. I mean I'm not any good with my sword. And I don't even know my Semblance yet." Ruby looks at her scabbard, looking torn out from use, presumably from constant training.

He looks at her scabbard and how Ruby looks discouraged but determined from looking at it. This shouldn't be her main weapon.

"Why a sword?"

"I'm not good at CQC like Yang and dad so I tried to use the sword like my mom, combine a sniper rifle with it. I plan to make a weapon once I get into Signal, already have my prototype blueprints ready. I also made a calculator too as a test, but it got taken by a squirrel."

Ruby's face looks like she's going to prank you to oblivion. Kuro decided that a random tree is more interesting at the moment.

"Hahaha, don't worry about that, you can make another one right?"

"Yeah but I used an unknown type of dust too, I just found it lying on the ground when I was walking home. I didn't test what effects that dust will do, so I'm a bit mad about it"

"How about a scythe Ruby? They're cool."

Yang cuts in the conversation between the two.

"Like uncle Qrow? I mean she could've trained under him but he keeps disappearing for his missions so he didn't have time to train my sister. He is a cool huntsman that keeps us safe from the grimm but he is too busy to hang out with us. Ruby asked Qrow to train her but he said he was too busy to train anyone at the moment."

Kuro looks at Ruby guiltily and decides to guide her skills to be able to wield a scythe, looking at her he says.

"Hmm, you just need a suitable teacher then. I'm no fighter but I can give you ideas on how you will train."

"Really? Thank you thank you thank you." Ruby hugs Kuro as he struggles to breathe, he despaired that even a kid like Ruby is really strong with aura. He taps his hand behind her back desperately before Yang yanks out the little girl from Kuro.

"Is she always like this?" Kuro questions Yang as he wheezes out, and he regains some air. Ruby is now riding Yang's shoulder as she points both her hands to the sky, acting like a superhero.

"Not really, she only does that to people she trusts. Since I trust you, my sister also trusts you as well." Yang entertains her sister pretending to be a superhero as they run around the road. Kuro smiles at their relationship.

Well-placed fences starts appearing in the road, with a two-story wooden log house appearing in view. He looks at the home of the heroes in admiration as he gets excited before feeling nervous about entering.

Yang spins to him as she smiles like the sun looking at her home, beaming with happiness and love for her family as she welcomes him.

"Welcome to the Xiao-Long Cabin!"
