A small drabble I wrote whilst on my most recent play through of Dragon Age: Origins. A small fic about my female Cousland and Alistair upon their return to the battleground at Ostagar.

Of all the lost faces to surface from the past, Athenril hadn't expected Bethany's to be among them. So when she spots her in Orlais, dressed in fancy white mage robes but without the silly mask (and it's definitely Bethany – still round-faced and fierce, and so tuggingly familiar), she follows her. The warden had betrayed the trust of his group. The meeting that they had agreed to have before entering the deep roads never came. Darren had given into his adrenaline and rushed into the deep roads without notifying the rest of the party, and it had been a grave mistake. Now back at camp, he must face the consequences before returning to finish his task.

One year ago the blood soaked war between the Templars and the mages was fought. I am given the opportunity to leave this land behind. There is nothing left for me here any more. Looking back I think about all the loses that have occurred around me, my heart clenches at the thought. Warning: Multiple character deaths. Rating might change.
