Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto; it is owned by Masashi Kishimoto. Supergirl is owned by the CW, CBS, DC COMICS and Warner Bros Discovery respectively. I own nothing and I am just a humble fan.
Author's Note: Hello everyone, I am back with a new chapter. Please read and review generously. I hope you all enjoy it. I thank all who have favorite the story, who are following the story, and those who have taken time out of their busy lives to review; it all helps.
This chapter and the next two chapters are going to be focused on Naruto and what he has been doing on Earth-38. Without further ado, let us begin.
Chapter Six- To Keep Moving Forward
The chirping of the birds, the filtered rays of the sun hitting his window, and the ringing of his alarm clock woke a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man from his slumber as he sighed and turned off the alarm. After a few light stretches, he entered his bathroom and used the facilities before discarding his clothes and entering the shower. As the warm water cascaded over his body, the blonde-haired man known as Uzumaki Naruto was lost in his own memories; memories that he had moved on from, but still stubbornly held on to as to never forget his struggles and trials to survive and live.
He was lost in the memories of his childhood, how he grew up as a village pariah and worked hard to earn the love and respect of his village. He was lost in the memories of the few friends he had and cherished close to his heart; a raven-haired man, a pink-haired woman, and a silver-haired teacher. He was lost in the memories of a Godfather he wished he could have known better. He was lost in the memories of a white-eyed woman who loved him and who he grew to love.
He was lost in the trials and tribulations of his life and how hard he worked to earn respect. He was lost in the memories of the dead and the hard lessons that life taught him about never going back on his word and enduring loss in a world of super-powered ninjas. He was the lost in the memories of a man asking him what the answer to peace was as that man exacted his revenge upon his home for the atrocities that were heaped on his own home Even he knew the answer was not something easy to determine, but he knew that he would endure to find the answer and never give up on his path.
He was lost in the memories of finally triumphing over the man who targeted his home and convinced him to bring back all those who killed in the village. He was lost in the memories of people accepting him at last and people looking at him with happiness and pride and that he was a part of his village.
He was also lost in the memories of one day fighting his friend and to one day make the choice of doing what he could to protect life.
He was lost in the memories of the climactic world war that had claimed the lives of many people, and for the first time in his life, he was faced with the fact that he was unable to keep all the promises he made that he would never let anyone die; he was truly an idealistic fool.
He was lost in the memories of another great battle, a battle that had somehow brought his tired self to another new world with the realization that he would be unable to return.
His shower had ended as Naruto cleared his head of his musings and memories. He had grieved and he had mourned deeply, and with the help of his former enemy now dear friend, Kurama, he had learned to move on. It was not healthy to wallow and hold onto the past. The past was full of difficulty and he needed to heal and carve out a new life for himself. There was a positive to all of this. He no longer had to worry about being hunted by anyone. He could carve out an existence that could make him happy.
However, his new life was not without some difficulties. The new world that he found himself on was vastly different to his. There was no chakra on this Earth. Humanity had made great strides in medicine, technology, art, culture and many things. Some things did not change such as war and bloodshed. However, one big change was that humans and aliens lived alongside each other for the most part.
And then came another loss in his life. There was a woman that he had fallen in love with, a woman who had brought him great joy and happiness. They had made plans to one day get married to one another. And then, all of a sudden, she disappeared from his life as quick as she entered it. He had searched high and low, but he could not find her. He had wondered what he did wrong and could not find an answer as to why she left him.
Nevertheless, he refused to be bitter and focus on the past. He held onto these memories as to never forget the good times of his childhood, but he was determined to be better.
He dried himself off and made breakfast as he smiled to himself. He never thought in a million years that he would ever do this, but he decided to put himself through school. He eventually graduated with a Bachelor's and a Master's in Psychology. He originally thought to be a soldier or a diplomat, but he realized he had no interest in the former and as for the latter, he hoped to one day pursue such a path if possible.
For now, psychology would be the interesting field for him. He wanted to be a therapist. He wanted to lend an ear to those who wanted guidance and help and understanding. He was a good listener and he was patient, and he hoped he could help people. He had managed to convince and change many people in the Elemental Nations, and he hoped he could do the same here.
He had found a practice in the city that needed his services as a therapist, and the job was to start next week. He would have to build his own clientele list soon and he hoped he could build a good one. In the meantime, he accepted an offer posted on an ad at the National City University to speak about topics relevant to society and to people in general. The University's Psychology department had organized this for a few classes.
Naruto had decided on what he would speak about. The Cycle of Hatred was a topic that had been on his mind for some time, and maybe he could enlighten people on this topic. He had to wonder what students would think about such a topic. He had a feeling people would have a lot of questions and he was wondering what kind of answers they could be able to give. Uchiha Itachi was right- there would always come a time where men and women would have to learn to make the most difficult of decisions.

However, there was another job that he had taken on that had brought him great joy. When Naruto referred to the fact that some things never changed, he really meant it. Though this new Earth had not undergone any recent world wars, there were some things such as bloodshed that remained a constant. Naruto had taken time to read up on the history of the planet and he was disgusted by many of the things he learned and read about the world.
He realized that peace was something that would be difficult to truly achieve. People hated just as much as they loved, it was something that could not be just changed overnight. Peaceful coexistence and understanding between people and the elimination of hate and getting rid of petty differences; this is something that would take time and Naruto hoped one day he could live long enough to see something like that happen.
However, in this new world, people would have to try to find that answer for themselves. He was going to carve a new path out for himself. When the Kryptonian Invasion occurred, Naruto quietly helped whoever he could to get to safety. He was absolutely disgusted by the amount of dead bodies he saw and lamented his failure to act and make a serious difference; he did not want to blow his cover and draw attention to what he could do.
He had witnessed Supergirl's fight with the leader known as Zod and his slaughter and her rage as the surviving Kryptonians driven away. Though there were many celebrations, there were also many funerals and many somber and quiet days. The crater where the most damage had occurred had been transformed into a grand memorial site where people could pay their respects and reminisce about better times in their lives.
Naruto felt sorrow for the lives he could not save and vowed he would do better and no longer be a silent spectator in the city. He had visited the memorial on occasion and placed white lilies at the Memorial Site. Though he felt sorry for the lives that were lost, he would not let it change him. He had goals and dreams and desires and he would see them through. He would not let the past weigh him down.
In order to bring a smile to the people of National City, Naruto had accepted a casual job as a clown, an entertainer. In the National City Square, he had entertained adults and children alike. He would use stuffed animals, magic tricks, conjuring birds and releasing them into the wild; Naruto did what he could to make people forget about their troubles.
The people indeed flocked to the square to catch the entertainment. Not because Naruto juggled bowling balls while balance himself on a bouncy ball. They did not come because Naruto had a fox on his shoulder. No, they came because his smile was infectious. There was such sheer joy and happiness on his face in making people happy, it was as if the sun was shining on him. It made people realize that their lives were not over and they still had happiness and a chance to live on and endure for the sake of their loved ones. They realized that there were still people out there in the city whose lives were marred by the invasion, but they chose to move forward and not live their lives tethered to a painful past.
However, Naruto knew this was not easy for all to accomplish. After the Kryptonian Invasion, Supergirl was nowhere to be seen and it had been an entire year. Naruto guessed that perhaps she lost someone close to her during this invasion and needed time to heal.
Naruto did not begrudge her this. He just hoped she could heal and come back to being the hero the city needed. Ever since Supergirl's disappearance, crime had gone up and the criminals had become more bold and brazen. There was also a string of alien and human deaths that had alarmed him and no one was wise enough to figure who was carrying out these attacks. Naruto surmised that it was someone powerful, someone with an ax to grind.

After the entertainment had ended, Naruto sat on a bench and soaked in the lovely weather. He was about to leave when a child had approached him and offered him a glass of lemonade and gave him a big hug, which Naruto quietly returned. The child then left and waved at him as she joined her family.
Looking at the family that had left, Naruto fell into lament. He was reminded of the family that he could have had with Hinata. He was reminded of the family that he could have had with Samantha Arias before she disappeared. Still, he felt no jealousy for that family. He hoped in his heart they could stay together for a long time and have many good times and memories. In his heart, he too longed for a family of his own. And one day, he would find the right woman.
As he got up to leave, he turned his head and sensed the presence of a woman who seemed intent on following him wherever he went, and had developed a keen interest in his life.
The subtle waving of Donna Troy's hand and the beautiful smile on her face as she watched him from a distance gave Naruto pause. This is what he got for saving a woman from a dark path and interfering in someone's path for vengeance- unwarranted and unneeded attention.
He sighed as he walked away from the Square, knowing that this blasted woman would be following him from a distance.
Naruto knew he could handle this woman. There was something else that was bothering him. Something in his gut told him that another great battle would take place. All he could do was hope that he would be ready for the invisible challenge up ahead.

The next chapter has Naruto at the National City University and a little bit of Donna Troy in the next chapter as well; fun and playful banter. There may also be an appearance from another character. I hope you all look forward to it.
