An old friend of Gaius's reaches out for help when a plague strikes Camelot. When they discover it's sorcery, Arthur finds himself in the difficult place of working with a sorcerer under his father's nose. A task that is complicated by the discovery of a dark secret beneath Camelot.

Arthur meant to reach out to him, check him for injuries, but halted in his tracks when, for the first time, he noticed that it was a small girl that was cradled in Merlin's arms. "Merlin, who is this?" Merlin's grip around the child tightened, as though he feared she'd be taken from him. "She's mine," he said hoarsely. "Her name is Aithusa."

An aspiring American stage actor from this century is kidnapped and sent back in time to Camelot. Her dubious ties to the royal family are brought to question as is her intentions. Despite Arthurs' mistrust, this Queen and her King may have more in common with him and Gwen then he would like to admit.
