Don't own Amphibia
I Promise You
Sweat, she could feel the heat surrounding her body as she gasped as she panted. Exhaustion, she had been in this state for the last four hours when her water broke, not a moment to calm herself down. Pain, everything she had been exposed to in Amphibia somehow felt small in compared to the hell she felt now.
She wanted to give up, she wanted so much for this torture to be over. Begging to hear those screams of joy pass so she could finally end this punishment. Wondering in the meantime why all the episodes she streamed made childbirth look so easy. Why couldn't she get the same break her turn around?
Her parents where in the room next door, with her girls Marcy and Sasha. Funny she always thought Marcy would be the first one for having a kid. After all, the Vagabondia Chronicles games she played she was more then hyped to have a family of her own. Once this ordeal was over, she would give her best friend the full load down of what to expect in a pregnancy. ALL OF IT.
Finally, after one final push of strength Anne felt a silence come about in her womb, a baby panicked cry could be heard in front of her. Taking massive gulps of breaths Anne fixed her tired eyes on the small bundle the doctors where holding.
Anne tried to understand what was happening. When she was carrying the small being in her belly it was a simple deal of carrying for nine months. Her mother giving her lessons on the whole experience. Going to birthing classes, watching a billion YouTube videos on the whole thing. She should have been more then ready to see what was in front of her. To face this new challenge in her life.
So why? Did she feel more uncertain than she ever had done before? Even when she went to the other world on her birthday.
Fighting robots, insane wax museums, magical temples. Somehow her experiences from her childhood seemed to disappear. Even the confidence and determination she gained when she fought the core in their final battle.
Deafness filled her ears, as the understanding her life was going to change forever was dawning on her. This sound of silence was finally broken when the nurse came to her bedside with the new-born babe wrapped up in her hands "Congratulations Miss Boonchuy, you have just given birth to a healthy baby boy."
Anne blinked her eyes in the confusion. Forgetting the fourteen-year-old she had been and remembered the twenty-seven-year-old she was now. "Eh thank you." Was all the new mother seemed to be able to sprout out to the nurse.
"Would you like to hold him?" The nurse asked peacefully.
Anne just nodded dumbly "Of…of course." She stated yet not too confidently.
Once the nurse placed Anne's baby son into her arms. She left the ward to collect the people who were waiting for Anne. For those few minutes Anne would start to get acquainted with her son.
"My Son, my kid." Anne whispered looking at the baby's face. He seemed to take after her. The tanned brown skin, slight bushy hair. Anyone who saw them in that moment could tell they were mother and son.
So why didn't it feel this way for her? It didn't make sense. She could always find a way to become attached to people. Her time in Amphibia taught her that. She sighed, she really wasn't a kid anymore, was she? It wasn't age that made you a grown up. It was when you had a child of your own that truly ended your childhood, that made you're a grown up.
Perhaps that what she was scared of. She always welcomed change, the first one to op for it. Maybe this was when things truly changed for her. No way back to those days on her phone at school. That was it for her, she needed to take more responsibility than she ever had done. Even with Domino.
Her train of thought was interrupted by the crying of her baby. Just like that Anne's thoughts changed to one of intense concern. She curled up the baby to her cheek, doing her best to bring her son peace.
"Don't worry." She whispered, "I won't let anything bad ever happen to you."
Her baby began to calm down as she looked at him. The eyes locked to each other, both trying to reach what the other was thinking. Anne looked at her babe, a small smile formed on her as a twingle of a tear fell down her eyes.
"I promise you; you will never be alone. That you will never have to be scared or worried about your life. I will make sure you never feel unwanted, uncertain or undernoted. You are one of the most amazing things I have ever seen little guy and believe me I have seen a lot." Anne giggled to herself.
"Whatever happens, remember you are new to this world, but you are already so loved. You have two aunts who are going to adore you. Your aunt Sasha is going to make you a badass fighter, your aunt Marcy will make you an imitative genius. Your grandparents are going to spoil you rotten. Your Grandma may seem though, but she is one of the most loving people I know, wait till you try her gyoza. There to die for. Your grandpa is the best movie nut I know, in one week you will know more about cosmic wars then any kid."
Anne looked at the window seeing the rainy night clear away. Allowing her smooth smog to elapse the night-time. Glowing Dragonfly's swarm around her window, crickets chirped in the background, but of course the sound which made her smile was the sounds of frogs ribbeting.
She looked back at her baby "A long time ago, I would have no idea how to cope in this situation. I would be way more scared than I am now. I had no idea what to do with my life, let alone a babies, but a long time ago I met some amazing people, a baby with attitude, a old man who could give Shakespeare a run for his money and…." Anne stopped herself trying to find the words next to say.
"Your Uncle Sprig. He helped me be prepared for this. Without him, without any of them I doubt I would be anywhere close to being ready for this. Now I am thanks to them. They taught me I am ready for change, to take on these chances. To give you the life they gave me. I promise you one day will see them. You and Sprig are going to be a match made in heaven. The adventures you two have."
"Until that day happens, I promise you my little love, I will be there for you. To fight for you when you when you need it. To teach you when you need it. To help you see your true colours when you are ready too. No matter what I am your mum, and whatever happens I know you will hop to do amazing things." Anne stated.
Anne's son just stared at his mother's eyes. Trying to understand what she had told him. Anne knew he didn't understand a word she said after all he was a new-born. Then to her surprise her baby smiled back to her. No worry, no fear, just love and trust to the woman who was his mother. Anne felt tears pour down her eyes as she cuddled him into her chest in a loving embrace.
"Thank you for coming into my world, my baby. You are my son Dan Boonchuy and I will always be grateful that I am your mother." Anne stated proudly.
The End
