Arcturus Black was sitting in his leather backed chair, sipping on some Scotch, not any of Ogden's Fire Whiskey, but muggle distilled Ledaig Scotch Whiskey. He did not care what any of the Pure-Bloods thought, he would enjoy what he had learned to enjoy.
He was about to take a second sip when he heard a large thud come from the sitting room. He grumbled to himself as he placed his glass on the table and he got up to investigate the cause of the sound. Walking into he next room he noted a body lying on the floor in a dark cloak.
The venerable Lord Black had his wand in his hand in an instant. "What is going on in here? Who the hell are you? And just how in Merlin's name did you get into my home?"
The man rolled over slowly and raised his hands, showing that he did not hold a wand. "Let me explain, no, there is too much, let me sum up."
Arcturus kept his wand pointed on the man but said nothing.
"I know you're probably not going to believer this, but, I am from the future, I defeated Voldemort who was not, or is not, really dead. The wizarding world made my life hell, and I wanted to change some things so I travelled back in time," proclaimed the man.
"You still didn't answer my question," observed Arcturus.
"Potter, Harry Potter. I'm Harry Potter," said the man.
Arcturus scoffed. "Hah, you're clearly not small child. You expect me to believe that you're the Boy Who Lived? What, have you come back in time to kill off my useless grandson who is just rotting away in Azkaban?"
"Er, actually, no, I haven't," replied Harry as he rolled over and into a sitting position. "Sirius, I presume you mean Sirius, well, he's actually innocent. He was set up. And the people who set him up and left him in that place, they need to pay."
Arcturus eyed Harry closely. "You have Black blood in you, I can tell. Hopefully it evens out that Potter blood. Potters are historically too Gryffindorish and foolhardy. No, never mind, I'm sure that it won't." He looked closely at Harry's forehead. "Well, you do have that infamous scar that Dumbledore claimed you had, even if it is a bit faded."
Arcturus paused for a moment, keeping his wand trained on the young man who was now sitting on the floor in front of him. "Somehow you managed to break through the wards here, which I would have believed was nigh impossible, considering I placed most of them myself years ago."
"Oh, well, you see, I was already in this house. This is 12 Grimmauld Place, is it not?" Before Arcturus could answer Harry continued, "Of course it is, I recognise the furniture in this room."
"I think that perhaps we need to have a little chat," said Arcturus. "Your mere presence is intriguing enough, and your story, if it is true, is even more so. Why don't you get up slowly, and head into the kitchen area and have a seat in there?"
Harry nodded in agreement and made sure to move slowly as the dark wand was still pointed directly at him.
Arcturus led him to the kitchen table. Harry looked around and realised that the home wasn't as dark and dreary as he remembered.
Once they sat down, Arcturus called out, "Kreacher, bring me my finest bottle of wine."
Harry raised an eyebrow at the command.
Arcturus smiled, "This story, which I am sure you are about to tell me, will take some time. This will make it easier, for both of us. And as it may take some time, the wine should be better for such a chat than the Ledaig I was about to enjoy."
Harry sat down at the table facing Arcturus and looked around the room slightly. He then turned to face Arcturus, "So, wait you don't want to stop me?"
Arcturus rolled his eyes momentarily and then shook his head. "Merlin, No! Of course not! Never trusted that fool Voldemort. What the hell kind of name is Voldemort anyway? Sounds like a stupid made up name to me, and he bloody well isn't from an old Pure-Blood family. And I have strongly considered casting out any from the Black Family who supported him. But since you defeated him as an infant about 4 years ago, I didn't think I needed to bother."
Harry leaned back a little in response to what he had heard from this man. Clearly it was not what he had expected on ever hearing from the Lord Black. "But what about pure-blood supremacy and all that?"
Arcturus spat out his response. "That bunch of codswallop? Just old fools who don't like change. A little change is needed now and then. The damned old fools just refuse to see that." He took a deep breath and then he continued. "Now, you said Sirius didn't betray your parents. That he shouldn't be in Azkaban? I am less surprised to hear that only because it just shows what a bunch of bloody incompetent fools have worked at the Ministry." He sighed and took a deep breath. "So then, tell me what really happened, and then you can tell me just how you ended up here."
Harry nodded in response to Arcturus' words. "Oh, um, by the way, what year is it? I 'm not sure how far back in time I actually traveled. Is it 1985? You did say something about my defeating Voldemort about 4 years ago."
Arcturus raised an eyebrow at the question. "What? What year is it? Yes, it is 1985. This is April 14, 1985. It is a Sunday."
"Close enough," Harry said with a sigh. "Although I was hoping I would have gone back a little more."
Arcturus raised an eyebrow. "You are an interesting one. You arrive in my house uninvited and the wards didn't kill you or even harm you in anyway. You claim that you have traveled back in time many years, something that no one has achieved before. Time turners can't transport someone back more than several hours at most. And you clearly aren't holding a time turner. I would hazard a guess that what you did was more than a little dangerous and foolish, but you are admittedly a Potter. You clearly have a very important reason, at least in your mind, to do what you have done and what you're about to try and accomplish. Such determination is worthy of a Black. Perhaps the plan is a little bit crazy, which may further prove your Black family ancestry. So, this should prove to be the most interesting night I have had in quite some time."
