To be Whole Again

Last Time

But that was not the reason of his panic, the reason for that was that he would have to attend the Yule ball, and that would mean that he would have to dance…

"Fuck!"

Salena started hissing loudly which sounded suspiciously like laughter.

That was because she was laughing as she came to the same realization Harry did a few moments ago, and she remembered the dance lessons that Mistress Daphne had her Master go through and what followed.

Harry turned his head to glare at his laughing familiar, which in turn prompted Salena to laugh more.

Hufflepuff Common Room, Hogwarts, 8th November 1994

Kind blue eyes roamed over the people in the common room as she sat in the corner on a yellow loveseat. Taking in the chaos that was ever present ever since Halloween, when the selection of the champions for the Triwizard tournament took place.

--

The Great Hall, Hogwarts, 31st October 1994

The selection of the champions was going as smoothly as possible. The Great Hall was decorated to celebrate Halloween, students mingling among themselves on there respective House tables.

The students of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic were seated on Ravenclaw's table while the students of Durmstrang Institute shared the Slytherin table, both of which were elongated to make space for the visiting school's students.

While the staff table was also elongated to add space for the Headmaster and Headmistress of the two visiting school, being seated on either side of Dumbledor were Igor Karkaroff and Olympe Maxime. The Former with an ever-present sneer on his face while overlooking all the students and latter with a neutral expression quietly conversing with Hagrid, the gamekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts, and the Professor of Magical Creatures subject.

The Goblet of Fire still stood there in all its majestic glory, the intricate design of the stand it was kept on, the blue tinted glass that made the body of the cup, and the ever-present blue flames dancing in the cup.

The Goblet of Fire was an ancient artifact, used to select the best student from each of the competing schools, being used since the initiation of the Triwizard tournament. 'Champions' was what the students selected were called. Champions of their respective schools that were participating in the tournament.

The food as usual was enticing and mouth-watering as they were accustomed to as it was prepared by the hard-working House-elves that served Hogwarts and its inhabitants.

As the dining came to a closure the process to select the Champions for the Triwizard tournament was underway.

Professor Dumbledore and Ludo Bagman started with their speeches, speaking about the eternal glory winning the Triwizard tournament brought to the Champion, and also the 1000 galleon money prize that was to be given with the trophy.

Once the speeches were over, Professor Dumbledore walked over to the Goblet of Fire to begin the selection of the Champions.

The flames of the Goblet of Fire roared and a piece of parchment was shot out of the cup, caught by Dumbledore.

"The Champion for Durmstrang Institute is… Viktor Krum!"

The students of Durmstrang cheered loudly, acknowledging the selection of one of the favourites. And many of the Quidditch fans also cheered seeing as the Champion who was selected was also a Professional Quidditch player having returned from recently playing as a seeker in the Quidditch World Cup final for Bulgaria.

Viktor Krum stood up with an expressionless face, acting as though the pointing, whispering and students trying to gain his attention did not even faze him, which was expected as being a Professional Quidditch player would have trained him in how to handle fans and reporters. If rumours were to be believed, he was also a pretty powerful Wizard, which would make him the perfect candidate to be selected as the Durmstrang Champion.

As Krum walked into the side room that was connected to the Great Hall, the Goblet of Fire once again roared to life and shot out another piece of parchment which was summoned by the Headmaster.

"The Champion for Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is… Fleur Delacour!"

There was a polite applause heard from the Ravenclaw table where the Beauxbatons students sat, but while all the students of the school cheered, it was pretty noticeable that a part of the student body of Beauxbatons were only clapping due to it being expected of them to support the Champion and there being no real enthusiasm behind their applause, some looking at the Champion with jealous eyes.

And why wouldn't they be jealous, Fleur Delacour, if asked to be described in one word was gorgeous, silvery blonde hair, expressive bright blue eyes and a figure many professional models would kill for. As the girl stood up she noticed quite a few males students eye glaze over.

Apparently the Veela nature of the Beauxbatons champion being a bit too much for some of the boys as some of them started to droll. She noticed that the number of jealous eyes on the girl increased as she walked inside the same side room that Krum was directed towards.

And now was the moment that most of Hogwarts was waiting for, she could see many of the senior eligible students that had entered their name into the Goblet siting on the edge of their seat, and some biting their nails in anticipation.

Again the fire in the Goblet came to life as a third piece of Parchment was shot out and caught by Professor Dumbledore as he proceeded to read the name on the parchment.

"The Champion for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is… Cedric Diggory!"

And the students she sat with on the Hufflepuff table exploded with cheers as one of their own was selected to be the Hogwarts Champion, and while they could hear some of the boos coming their way from the other tables they did not care as this was their moment, after years of being called the House of leftovers, they finally had a chance to bring glory to the House as one of their most talented student was selected.

Cedric Diggory was a crush of many of the female population of the school, with brownish blonde hair, an angular face, and an impress figure that was maintained by years of practice on the Quidditch field as he was the Captain and Seeker of the Hufflepuff House Quidditch team, she herself did not see the appeal it had towards other, if she was asked she would say that messy raven black hair and vibrant emerald green eyes appealed to her more.

As Cedric followed the same path the 2 champions before him had gone to, the side room where all the Champions were directed.

Professor Dumbledore once again took the stage. As he was about to disperse the students after few announcements something baffling occurred.

The Goblet's fire roared to life a fourth time that day, that caused quite the murmurs and speculations about what was going on, even the Judges of the Tournament looked confused. As they converged on the Goblet to inspect it a fourth piece of parchment was sent shooting out of the Goblet.

Four champions, in a tournament of three?

Just as Professor Dumbledore caught the parchment, everyone noticed as colour drained from his face and his posture stiffened, eyes roamed over the Gryffindor table as he called out.

"Harry Potter!"

Hufflepuff Common Room, Hogwarts, 8th November 1994

The following days were quite chaotic among the Hufflepuff students, since many believed that the Boy Who Lived deliberately entered himself in the tournament, not even giving a thought to the fact that the protections put in place were placed by Professor Dumbledore himself. A man many considered the strongest wizard since Merlin.

She still remembered what happened to those that tried to enter into the tournament but were ineligible. Fred and George Weasley, the two pranksters of Hogwarts had tried to get themselves into the tournament by drinking a potion, which she assumed was the aging potion and crossing the age line set up by Professor Dumbledore. But as soon as they threw their parchments into the Goblet, they were thrown back a few meters, and had grown a beard longer than Professor Dumbledore's beard.

She still couldn't figure it out how the student body were so idiotic enough to think that a fourth year student would be able to bypass security measures set up by a wizard with more than a century's worth of experience. Even if said fourth year student was the Boy Who Lived.

' Were they really so desperate for a target?' she thought to herself.

She was horrified when she heard of the plans that were being made by her Housemates to make Harry Potter's life miserable, some thought about pranking him, some thought of stealing his belongings and making him walk around naked, and some were straight up physical abuses that they had planned.

Though those plans were shot down quickly once Cedric returned from the Champions meeting, were he said he believed Harry about him not entering his name. And Cedric being a popular and respected student in the Hufflepuff house many listened to him, although a bit reluctantly. But the animosity towards Harry Potter among her Housemates remained firm and even if plans for physical 'retribution' were scraped off by Cedric, he could not stop plans for pranks from being made.

Whether Cedric did this out of the goodness of his heart, or whether he really believed Harry, or if he just did not just consider Harry as a competition to him, she did not know, but that did not mean she was not thankful towards Cedric from stopping her Housemates from doing something almost criminal against a boy she had come to admired from far.

Since her first year she had been intrigued by the boy, she wouldn't deny that she had started to get attracted towards the boy, with his messy raven black hair, the deep emerald green eyes, the high cheekbones, but all she had done till now was admire him from a distance. She never found the courage to go and talk to the boy, sometime it was due to her own insecurities, and sometimes due to Ron Weasley never letting anyone other than a Gryffindor near him.

She still remembered their second year, when the entire school had turned their back on Harry, called him a Dark Lord, the Heir of Slytherin, just because he had a gift of talking to snakes.

She would agree that the hissing sounds did give her the creeps, but that did not mean that the person with the gift was evil, and if that was not enough, then the boy's own mother was a muggleborn, so why would he attack muggleborns in the school.

She had tried to talk to him even during their second year, trying to let him know that she did not blame Harry, and she did not believe in those ridiculous rumours labelling him as the Heir of Slytherin. But she never had the courage to do so.

But this time, she had made up her mind, if the opportunity presented itself, she would definitely let Harry know that she believed in him, and would warn him about the pranks being planned against him by her Housemates.

' Maybe I would also be able to get to know him better, and who knows where it goes after that' she thought to herself as she gathered the courage to talk to Harry as soon as possible.

But she was not sure how she would do that, Harry had not been spotted in the Great Hall during any of the meals since the evening of 5th November, and also as the Champions were allowed to miss the classes she was not able to spot in any of the classes they shared as well since the past 3 days.

Slytherin Common Room, Hogwarts, 8th November 1994

Daphne Greengrass, the Heiress of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Greengrass was sitting in the corner of the Slytherin Common Room along with her friends Tracey Davis and Blaise Zabini. Tracey was trying her best to gain the attention of Blaise who kept on ignoring her in favour of reading the book that he had with him.

Daphne was someone that could go toe to toe with some of the Veelas in term of beauty and win, with her silky honey blonde hair, dark blue eyes which appeared as cold as ice, pouty red lips, and a figure with curves in the right places that gave promise of even more beauty as she matured. Some even speculated if they had any connections to Veelas or if a Veela had maybe married into their family in the past.

But beauty was not the only thing she was gifted with, she being the heiress of a Most Ancient and Noble house she was trained from her childhood on how to read people, how to gain the upper hand, how to take advantage of any situation, and how to deal with people that did not take no for an answer.

She was known as the ice queen not because of her cold and indifferent nature, but because of her profanity with any magic ice related.

A year back in her third year, when they were finally allowed to go to Hogsmeade, a forth year boy made the mistake of not taking no for an answer when he asked Daphne to accompany him to Hogsmeade, the spell she fired that day still brought shivers to every boy's spine whenever her icy blue eyes were directed towards him.

It was rumoured that she froze the arrogant boy's family jewels with a family spell and the boy had to be transferred to Sanit Mungos' for treatment, and was not seen until the next month.

Today she was sitting with her friends trying hard not to show the amusement she experienced when she witnessed yet another one of Draco's annoying obsessive rants about Potter.

' How was that daddy's boy even got himself sorted into Slytherin is beyond me. The insults he is spewing out of his mouth for Potter are not even doing anything considering that Potter is not here, instead all he is achieving is making himself look like a petty and obsessive guy' Daphne thought to herself as she shook her head in amusement.

Finally getting tired of trying to get Blaise attention, Tracey moved her focus towards Daphne and brought up the topic that everyone was talking about since the Halloween night.

"So, do you think that Potter really entered his name into the Goblet of Fire?" Tracey inquired.

That really had been the talk of the town around Hogwarts concerning the Bow Who Lived and his selection into the Triwizard tournament. The Slytherin house itself was pretty much divided into groups where some thought that he did somehow find a way to get entered into the tournament, which would be quite impressive as that would mean bypassing Dumbledore's protections around the Goblet. While she herself thought that Potter did not enter his name into the tournament.

"I don't think so, I mean even if we discount the fact that the protections around the Goblet were placed by one of the most powerful wizards alive, there still needs to be a motive for Potter to enter his name in the Goblet" Daphne replied to her friend.

"Winning the Tournament would bring in so much fame, and don't you remember about the price money too, a 1000 galleon is a lot for a 14 year old boy." Tracey reasoned.

"Who was the last person to win the Triwizard tournament?" Daphne asked Tracey and waited for her reply, when none came, she continued.

"Exactly, no one even remembers the last person to win the tournament, while the entire world knows who the 'Boy Who Lived' is, so it can't be for the 'eternal glory', and he is also the Heir to the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter, which is considered to be one of the wealthiest families in Britain, so he does not even need the money" Daphne answered.

"So, do you think someone added his name into the Goblet? But why would they do that? What would they be achieving entering the Gryffindor Golden boy's name into the tournament?" Tracey asked.

"I don't know, but I do know one thing for sure, it couldn't have been Potter who added his name into the Goblet. His scores in the classes are average at best, and even if he took the help of Granger, I don't know how she would have been able to bypass Dumbledore's wards" Daphne replied.

"So, who do you think will win?" Blaise nonchalantly, finally jumping into the conversation.

"I think it will be Potter somehow, he will do something crazy and win, haven't you heard about the rumours of Potter fighting that troll in our first year, and one of him defeating the Slytherin's monster a year after that? And if the rumours at the end of our third year are to be believed that Potter could conjure a corporeal Patronus then he could be pretty powerful" Tracey replied.

Malfoy, who so far had been ranting about Potter suddenly stopped and butted into their conversation as he heard Tracey.

"Really? You believe in those ridiculous rumours? Potter is nothing but an annoying attention seeking brat, that will get his due in this Tournament when he so foolishly decided to enter into this tournament. He is nothing but a filthy half-blood, but you would of course support him, being the same filthy half-blood" Malfoy sneered as he and his cronies sauntered over to them.

"Do not forget some of the most powerful Wizards were half-blood Malfoy" came Daphne's reply in a frosty tone as she defended her friend. She never liked Malfoy, especially ever since he tried to make himself the leader of their year when they started Hogwarts, throwing his father's name around.

Daphne noticed Malfoy's eyes leering at her as he turned to face her. That caused Daphne to narrow her eyes and tighten her grip around her wand.

"Nobody was talking to you Greengrass" Malfoy sneered.

That caused Daphne to raise her perfectly elegant eyebrow as if she was amused by the idiocy on display by Malfoy.

"Remember who you are talking to Malfoy, your family is only of Nobel standing, while I am the heiress to one of the Most Ancient and Noble houses in Wizarding Britain" One could clearly make out the icy tone in Daphne's voice as she put Malfoy in his place.

Draco hearing that paled considerably, as he knew the battle was lost, while his family was well respected and held many political ties, it was not an ancient family, and he knew that the Greengrass family held more political power and wealth than his own.

' I will show the bitch what happens when you insult a Malfoy once I become Lord Black, until then I have to tread carefully' Malfoy thought as he made a hasty retreat with Crabbe, Goyle, Parkinson, and Nott following after him as Tracey laughed at the cowardness shown.

"You should be a bit careful, there's only so much he will take laying down, and after some time he might snap and do something foolish that might spell trouble for you" Blaise pointed out.

"Don't worry, he is all talk and no action, the only reason he holds an iota of power in Slytherin is because of his father and his ties." Daphne replied.

"Anyways, so do you believe Potter has any chance of winning this tournament Daphne?" Tracey asked as she tried to change the topic.

"I do not know if Potter can win the tournament or not, but I do know one thing for sure though, this is going to be an interesting year" Daphne concluded as she bid farewell to her friends and walked towards her dorm room that she shared with Tracey.

Harry Potter had been a mystery for Daphne. From the start she had thought that he would have been an arrogant Gryffindor, who would have ego the size of Hogwarts with all the fame that he got, and considering the wealth of the Potter family, he would have been spoilt rotten.

But when she arrived here at Hogwarts for her first year, she was shocked to see Potter, he did not have any fancy clothes on, he did not walk around like he owned the place unlike a blonde pounce she knew, he was not boasting and throwing his fame around or his money. He was an ordinary boy who was friends with Weasel of all people and the clothes he wore did not do justice to the station he held in the Wizarding Britain.

As the first year went by she did believe one thing, that Potter was favoured by the Hogwarts Headmaster, with the number of rules he broke and never got punished for it, and to top it off the Headmaster had awarded last minute points to Gryffindor for showing 'Unwavering bravery in the face of Danger' but they were never explained what Potter and his group did to earn those points.

Similarly in their second year, at the end of the year Potter and Weasel were again awarded heaps of points and an award for Special Service to the school, but again it was never explained what they did to achieve those points.

This year was different though, because she really did not believe Potter would have entered his name into the Goblet of Fire.

' He did not have the skills to do so, and even if he did, why would the Goblet choose Potter as a Champion, surely there are many better candidates than him' Daphne thought to herself as she prepared to go to bed.

If rumours were to be believed, then Potter was being avoided by his own housemates, while some thought he was an attention seeking liar that entered his name into the Goblet, the others thought he used some kind of dark magic to trick the Goblet.

' The Gryffindor Golden boy going dark' that thought had Daphne laughing in her head, the possibility of such a thing happening was beyond impossible for her to imagine.

One would think that his best friends would stay by his side, but no, the Weasel was one of the forefront advocate of Potter being an attention seeker, and Granger was all but avoiding Potter. For the next 5 days after the choosing of the Champions ceremony the entire school noticed how Potter used to sit alone during meal times or in classes and everyone around him used to scoot away from him as if he carried some kind of disease.

And since the last 3 days Potter was not even spotted anywhere, not in the Great Hall and not even in the classes they shared, so where had Potter disappeared to.

Potter was a mystery and she was going to solve it.

The Chamber of Secrets, Hogwarts, 8th November 1994

A small smile formed on Harry's face as he finally harvested the Basilisk, for the last 3 days Harry worked tirelessly as he worked to clean up the Chamber.

The first thing he did after coming back in time was to secure Ravenclaw's diadem from the Room of Hidden Things in the Room of Requirements, he knew it was a horcrux, and while he had a way to destroy it, he would not be doing so right now.

As destroying the horcrux would alert Voldemort about someone having found out about his secrets and that could alter the timeline drastically, that would mean his knowledge of the future would have no value anymore. And that was the very same reason Harry did not want to prove Sirius's innocence right away, as that would also change the timeline in ways he could not be sure of.

Now some might consider Harry selfish for not helping out his Godfather, but Harry was a practical guy, and knew the consequences of altering the timeline, or rather he feared the unknown consequences of it.

But that did not mean he was not going to help his Godfather and let him be on the run while being chased all around by the Dementors and Aurors, no, he already was trying to think of plans that might help Sirius stay away from the Ministry and safe until he could be proved innocent.

And the fear of timeline deviation was again the reason why Harry was not going to oust the fake Moddy, while he would remain on his guard around Barty Crouch Jr, he won't be exposing him.

Going through the list of horcrux that he had prepared, he started listing down their locations

1. Dairy (Destroyed)

2. Diadem (Secured, CoS)

3. Locket (12 Grimmauld Place, Regulus's room)

4. Hufflepuff's Cup (Lestrange Vault)

5. Nagini (location unknown)

6. Gaunt Ring (Gaunt manor)

7. Harry Potter (Destroyed when travelled in past).

Harry had decided that he would leave the events to occur as they did in the past, with him making some minor changes that would not majorly affect the events and cause a deviation from the original timeline.

Hence Harry for now had decided to secure just the Diadem and the Slytherin's locket when he finally was able to get into Grimmauld place. That would the summer after his 4th year. He could try calling Kreacher and try gaining his loyalty, but he wasn't sure if Kreacher would bring the locket to him just based upon a 'Half-blood' claiming to be able to destroy the locket.

Next was the cup, Harry had no desire to break in to Gringotts once more, considering the relations that were damaged and the hefty fine that he had to pay last time around, so he decide to leave it there for now.

Regarding Nagini, Harry had decided to kill Voldemort's if the opportunity presented itself in the graveyard after the third task as it was easy to make it look like an accident rather than a thought out plan. Otherwise he could always deal with it during the final battle.

The Gaunt Ring was an entirely different topic, while he was aware of its location and hiding place after going through Dumbledore's journal in the original timeline, he wanted it to remain there, as it was the perfect way to get Dumbledore out of the way.

Dumbledore was not an evil guy per say, but his vision of him being the 'Leader of the Light' and manipulating everyone around him cost the wizarding world many bright souls. Also his unmoveable stance of second chance and nonlethal could potentially hamper many of Harry's plan. For that, he need to go.

Lastly, the horcrux in Harry's scar had been removed when he made the time jump, magic was a complicated and wonderful thing that worked in mysterious ways, so when Harry jumped, rather than his body being displaced, it was his soul and conscience that were removed from his body.

According to what Harry could figure out, his soul had then merged with the past Harry's soul successfully and in the process pushed the fragment of Voldemort's soul out.

Now whether his magic came along with him or not was a discussion for another day, as many believed soul was magic and magic was soul for the magical population, while they were incorrect in that assumption, the soul and magic is so intertwined that it was easy to deduce what the general population speculated as true.

The next order of business that Harry did after securing the diadem was to open Slytherin's personal chambers inside the Chamber of Secrets. The entrance for that was besides Slytherin's statue, Harry had discovered this in the original timeline during his years of stay in the Chamber.

And was thankful that it was never discovered by Tom during his stay as a student, otherwise considering the knowledge the study held, would have caused Tom to be even more dangerous than he already was.

Salazar's personal chamber held many artefacts, like books on parselmagic and rituals, it had jars of rare potions, and most importantly, Salazar's personal journals along with a Pensive.

What many did not know was that while the now Headmaster's office once was Godric Gryffindor's chambers, the other 3 founders also had their own secret chambers, the Chamber of Secret was Salazar's, but Helga Hufflepuff's and Rowena Ravenclaw's chambers were yet to be discovered and each chamber held untold stories of the past.

And each founder had their own set of secret libraries and a pensive was bought by each of them for various reasons, if only to relive there adventures.

After verifying that everything was as expected Harry began the task of cleaning the chamber and harvesting the Basilisk, he knew he was a pariah in his own house, and the torments he suffered at the hands of those he once considered friends, so he had made up his mind to shift to the Chamber of Secrets for the remainder of this year.

After 3 days of hard work, he had finally completed getting the chamber ready, he had finally harvested the Basilisk for its skin, venom, and organs which are considered invaluable potion components.

He had also warded the entire chamber so that he could make sure that no one but himself and the people he brought could enter the chamber, anyone else who tried would be in for a nasty surprise.

As for the horcruxes, he had heavily warded and secured with the helps of runes a corner in Slytherin's personal chambers which only he could access to make sure that the horcruxes would remain secure and also prevented it from affecting the minds of any defenceless person.

Now, all he had to do was come up with a plan to get to know Susan and Daphne better, he knew Susan would be more receptive of his friendship as she was one of the people that did not believe he entered his name in the tournament and if the timeline had not changed much, he knew she would seek him out before the 1st task. That's when he would start building bridges.

The problem would be connecting with Daphne the most, as even though he knew she also did not believe him to have entered his name in the tournament, but she still did believe him to be the 'Gryffindor Golden boy' and the rivalry between their two houses would cause further problems.

' I will have to come up with a plan such that the house rivalry does not affect my relationship with Daphne, maybe a resorting? Gryffindor has anyways banished me from the house, convincing Dumbledore would be the only issue' Harry thought as he tried to come up with a plan.

" Master, I have comeback from listening in on the staff meeting that took place today, all are trying to find you, the man with hooked nose was insulting your father, while the old fool was talking about the wards not picking up on your location and the staff was concerned about your whereabouts " same Salena's voice as she came back from the Staff room where Harry had sent her to gain information.

"No surprises there, we will deal with them when the time is right, for now we shall wait and watch till the first task." Harry replied.

AN

First and foremost, I just want to thank all of you for the appreciation, and this being my first project means a lot to me, and in case you haven't figured it out yet, I have decided to continue updating this story and will try to give you all a new chapter every week.

Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, not much regarding the plot, but I just wanted to get the basic character building for Daphne and Susan out of the way.

Susan is trying to find courage to talk to Harry, while Daphne is planning on solving the 'Mystery' of Harry Potter, but currently will watch from the side lines.

And before you start commenting, Dumbledore is not bashed in my story, he is a good guy, and will have a complex roll, as even though he is a good guy Harry is not particularly fond of him, but does respect Dumbledore.

Bashings are kept to a minimum as you will see in the upcoming chapters if you decide to read along.

Let's see what Harry does different from cannon to gain Daphne's attention.

Next up the First task and then some Harry and Susan conversations.
