I had heard that the actual marriage problems start when the honeymoon is over, but well, nothing like that happened to us! Probably that would be case for the couples who gave too much important to 'love'. Edward and I were practical. It had been a month since we were back from the honeymoon and things were going completely fine for us.
We were back to our work. I had also joined as a board member at Cullen Inc. last week. Edward and I tried our best to allocate three to four slots per week to have either lunch or dinner together. We had a great sense of understanding. We haven't had a single fight till yet.
"I won't be able to join our annual bash next month." Jasper said after one of the board meetings were over and only family members were present. "I need to attend Alice's friend's wedding."
I had no words for this guy! How could he be missing this bash when it's so important for family's legacy?
"Enough is enough, Jasper. I want you to be there." Grandpa Marcus ordered before he left the meeting room.
"Please, big Pa. Try to understand! I can't miss Alice's friend's wedding." he said while typing ferociously in his laptop.
"I second that. I want you there, with or without your wife's presence." Esme said and left.
"Stop texting me. I'm not going to help you." Edward said once three of us were alone. Oh, so Jasper was actually typing messages to him!
"Of course, you will." Jasper laughed, "I'm not sure if you know it or not, Bella, but Edward is my rescuer. He always rescues me and I just know that he's not going to disappoint me even this time."
"I'm not going to help you this time irrespective of how much you praise me." Edward rolled his eyes.
I smiled. It seemed they shared a great bond. Actually I just realized that Edward and I never actually discussed anything about Jasper, so I had no idea what their bond was like!
"I know you will." Jasper winked, "Anyway, I need to meet Alice for the lunch. See you!"
"I'm not going to help you." Edward repeated.
"You're going to help him, aren't you?" I asked. I wasn't sure why, but I had a feeling that he would be!
"I think so." he said.
"It seems you rescue him even when he's wrong." I smiled.
"I do." he chuckled, "I really admire him." he said while emphasizing on the word 'admire'.
"Oh, why?" I asked.
I mean, he must have had some reasons to 'admire' Jasper which sadly I was not able to see yet.
"I don't think I will be able to explain it." he said. "Anyway, I think I will be free for lunch tomorrow."
Okay, so he had diverted the topic. I wondered what was his reasoning and why it was so complex that he wouldn't be able to explain it! I was curious, but I was not the kind of wife who would nag her husband to get answers.
If he didn't want to share, well, I was fine with that.
