EPOV
"Oh Bella, I just remembered something. I've an invite for New York fashion week. Would you like to accompany me?" Mom asked Bella when were on the dinner table, "I'd have like Edward to go with you, but he hates fashion shows, don't you, Edward?" she chuckled.
"Oh, I really hate them." I said.
"Oh, you said you didn't get the invite this time." Alice chimed in.
"I got it today." she told her.
Jasper put her arm around Alice's shoulder and squeezed it. Okay, I guess she wanted to go.
Mom was pathetic! Bella also noticed that. She should have respected Alice at least when Bella and her family were on the same table!
Then she turned her face towards Bella again, "So, would you like to come with me, Bella?"
Like, really? Not everyone was like you! I was glad Bella had noticed Alice's reaction. I was sure she was going to decline the offer.
"I'd love to accompany you," she smiled.
Wow. Brilliant! Only one snob wasn't enough in the family, you know?
"Cheers to the new beginnings." she said and Bella smiled.
Fuck my life.
Didn't I know how she was? Then why had I started seeing positive things in her?
I guess I had even begun to like her company!
Why?
I should have remembered that there was nothing to like about her!
What a moron I was!
She was exactly like Mom! Of course she was going to throw tantrums!
"You're so young." Mom said.
"I'm not saying I'm going to marry her tomorrow, but I'll marry only her."
"Don't be stupid! She's a drummer, and you do realize who you are, right?" she said.
"There's no need to look down on anybody's profession!" I said. She was getting on my nerves, like she always did.
"I will." she said, "You've lost your mind!"
"I love her, and I'm going to marry her." I said, "You can do whatever you want."
"I'm going to kill myself if you ever marry her." she said. "I'm not kidding! I didn't spend my whole life working on this business empire just for you to marry a fucking peasant and destroy our family's reputation and legacy!"
Like, really?
Bella was exactly like her!
She threw tantrums like a child only because she didn't get the answers she wanted!
May be this could have been avoided if I had given her straightforward answers. Why did I even expect her to have faith in me?
Didn't the point of getting married with conditions was that none of us wanted any issues that the normal couple face?
Why the hell were we fighting then? That was normal couple's job!
I guess I needed to tell her the truth, and we needed to go back to where we were on the first day. We didn't need to have any expectation from each other. That's the only way we were going to make this work.
As she was just like Mom, I was she was not going to call me first. I was the one who would have to keep my ego aside and call her.
But the point was, how could I call her without sounding stupid or desperate?
