Isabella Swan
[Author's Note: This is just a quick one. I wanted to have a sort of connection chapter between what happened and their first interaction. I'm really excited to get to the chapters of dialogue between Bella and Rose and Rose and her family (which has been changed a bit in this story) and also Bella and the Cullens. And I love this version of Edward. He's chill because he already found his mate and has been living blissfully for a long time. Wait until you see who it is..]
It took Bella Swan an abnormally long time to fall asleep. She lay awake in her plaid-sheeted full sized cabin bed and stared up at the numerous skylights. When she closed her eyes, all she saw were the dazzlingly yellow eyes from the clearing. It was a terrifying image paired with what Bella had assumed happened earlier in the woods. But.. It did more than just frighten her. As strange as she felt to admit it, the memory made her pulse race and her mind get foggy in a different way. She was incredibly curious and entirely on edge, almost simultaneously.
It was a struggle to quieten her mind enough to sleep. And even when she did, she couldn't stop the dreams that came to her. They were all nearly the exact same- she was in the forest, the trees were a maze and she twined in and out of them without end for seemingly forever. It was only when she broke free from a line of trunks and saw the floated yellow eyes that the dream would begin again. It replayed over and over, the increase of anxiety the only amendment. Bella became obsessed with getting there, reaching the end of the race, meeting the gaze of the heavenly eyes floating in the canopy. Her sleep was restless with repetition, and she tossed and turned the entire night until, sometime after three, when she suddenly woke in a cold sweat.
