Bella spent the day feeling as though she were floating on a cloud. What had happened the night before was hard for her to wrap her mind around. Sleeping in the arms of the most beautiful woman in the entire world.. Sleeping in the arms of a vampire.. A vampire that felt something for her and that had called her sweet names and spooned and cuddled her… A vampire that had said things and done things that had made Bella's body ache for carnal interaction.. Bella groaned remembering. If Rosalie kissed her fingertips one more time..
Lost in daydreams, the brunette park ranger went through the motions of her job, making her rounds and recording her field notes. She caught herself leaning against the trunk of a tree openly swooning more than once. She was crushing incredibly hard, threatening to drift into something deeper, knowing she would regardless. In the back of her mind she'd stored a thousand questions she wanted Rosalie to answer- How old was she really? How did she become a vampire? Where did she live before Forks? What was her family like before becoming a vampire? All of those could wait; Bella wanted to know the simple things that Rosalie had gotten out of her first. What was Rosalie's favorite color? Movie? Musician? Bella couldn't even begin to guess. But she had to know and made it that night's mission to find out. The vampire could be secretive and elusive with everyone else but Bella wanted more.
Late that afternoon, after lunch and after an insane amount of fantasizing, Bella was about a mile away from the watchtower. She had one arm wrapped around a small tree and was leaning far over a ravine to look at what she thought was an arrowhead laying on a ledge. If she extended her arm as far as she could she could almost touch it. She was just about an inch away and if she released some slack from the tree and extended a little further..
Her walkie buzzed then and Leah said, more emotional than normal, "Bella Swan!"
The ranger lurched, surprised by the sudden sound, and began to topple into the crevasse. The toe of her boot slipped on wet leaves and she nearly lost her footing. At the last minute, she tightened her arm around the trunk and twisted her body to keep from falling. The result was a painful yank on her shoulder and a considerable amount of mud on her ass. Safely back on flat ground, she got her walkie and said, sourly, "What Leah?"
"Oh good morning to you too," the other park ranger returned. "What did I do?"
Bella inspected the seat of her pants and grimaced. She'd have to do laundry sooner rather than later. "It's not you," she said, "I'm just still so fucking clumsy sometimes."
"It's one of your most endearing qualities," Leah said cheerfully. Then, "So I spoke to Jess today."
Leah and Angela were Bella's pre-college friends. Angela and Bella took almost all their classes in highschool together after Bella transferred to Forks. Leah went to the school on the rez, but she was over at Bella's house pretty much constantly. Jessica was Bella's college roommate and good friend. When she'd introduced the three girls, surprisingly they all got along. Angela, who was quiet and bookish had immediately taken to Leah, who was a sort of loud-mouth with an attitude problem. Jessica was preppy and liked to gossip but all the girls let her give them make-overs and she was content.
"And?"
"She wants to do the party at her place Saturday night. Beer, pizza, movies."
"Party?" the brunette repeated. And then, it doning on her she said, "Ohmygod. My birthday."
"Did you actually forget?" Leah asked her. "You forgot about your 21st birthday?"
"I've been distracted," Bella admitted vaguely but accurately. And then she thought about it- her birthday was this coming Sunday and she'd officially be 21. That meant that on Friday, she'd have to make the full hike into the station so that Charlie could pick her up for the weekend. That was only a couple of days away.. The thought of sleeping in her old bed at her dad's house or on a pallet in Jessica's apartment floor instead of in Rosalie's arms again made her sore with sadness.
"Distracted?" Leah repeated. "C'mon Bells, at least try and act like a normal young adult that enjoys normal young adult stuff like drinking alcohol and hanging out with friends."
"I am," Bella insisted, making her way back to the watchtower. "I've just been busy.. Working is all."
But she hadn't been distracted with work at all. She got the rest of the info about the sleepover at Jessica's apartment and then told Leah goodnight. She bathed and dressed and pretended to read for an hour or so until the sun started going down. Then her pulse began to race and the butterflies returned and she paced without meaning to until her true distraction came to her door.
Rosalie was holding what appeared to be a lunchbox in one hand and a bouquet of yellow roses in the other. She looked as much like a goddess as ever, with her thick pink lips and beautiful yellow eyes and her perfect body. What was very noticeable however was the dress she'd chosen to wear and how it hugged the blonde's waist in all the right ways and appeared rather tight over her breasts which were, what? C cups?
"Hello Bella" the vampire purred, immediately catching the brunette's panicked gaze when her eyes met hers in response. "Would you say you're more of an ass girl or," she leaned forward and added, "a breast girl?" When Bella huffed, the vampire chuckled lightly and slipped the bag of food into her hand and caught her chin in the other. "I would say eyes up here," she cooed, letting her intoxicating breath push against Bella's lips, "but I like feeling your eyes on me and you have permission to look at whatever you want."
Bella's eyebrows were furrowed in frustration when Rosalie stood up straight. "Not fair," she muttered, her heart racing.
"Who said I played fair?" Rosalie smirked. She motioned to the bag then. "So you said you like Carver's, right?"
Bella's eyes widened and she pulled the cooler up and opened it, the warm smell of roast and potatoes and all of her favorite fixings wafting up into her nose. "You did not get me Carver's Cafe!"
"Would you have preferred Al's Pancake World?"
The park ranger smiled brightly. "Rosalie.." Then her eyes fell on the flowers and they gleaned brightly with affection. "You got me flowers too?"
"I was inspired by my mother to bring you a bouquet," the vampire revealed, drifting over to get something to put them in. She settled on a small quart sized bucket beneath the sink. Then she leaned against the desk and motioned for the human to join her and unpack her food. Bella did so, opening Esme's bag and removing the Styrofoam container and a pack of prepackaged utensils and napkins. Immediately, the human fell into the desk seat and began to eat. After she was half way done with the meal she said, "These are all my favorites."
"I'm aware."
"You're not real," Bella announced after swallowing the last of her mashed potatoes and beef gravy. "You're literally not real."
"Then what am I?" Rosalie asked her, "A myth? A legend? A fairytale?" She extended one hand and sweetly petted Bella's soft hair. "One of your late night fantasies?" She smiled.
The brunette blushed. "Definitely one of my fantasies," she returned, quietly.
Rosalie's eyes flashed and then she got off the desk and crossed the room. Bella quickly finished her meal and then sat the trash in the kitchen and joined the vampire where she stood along the south wall, looking out at the evening view. The moment she was next to her Rosalie put her arms around the smaller woman and brought her in front of her, nuzzling her face against the side of Bella's head. The park ranger immediately melted in her arms.
"You know," the vampire said, "I shouldn't be holding you."
"Why not?" the brunette replied, her eyes closed, lost in the sensation.
"Because you're a bad girl that hid something very important from me."
Bella's eyes slid open and her eyebrows knitted together. "Something very important?" she repeated, confused. "But I.."
Rosalie's hands found the lapels of Bella's long sleeved over-shirt. Slowly, she pushed it down Bella's shoulders so that she could slide her palms down onto the woman's bare arms. The resulting shudder caused the vampire to take a sharp breath.
"What happens this weekend?" Rosalie asked her, letting the shirt fall from between them and hit the floor beneath their feet. Her hands encircled Bella's lower arms and slowly she began to caress the smooth undersides of Bella's arms with her thumbs. "Specifically, what happens on Sunday?"
"My birthday," the brunette hissed, staring in awe at the way the blonde had a hold of her. She tilted her head, letting her hair fall to the side so that she could feel Rosalie's breath on her neck.
"Your birthday," the vampire repeated, "Good girl. And you didn't tell me about your birthday because..?" Her tone was so sweet and innocent but what felt like the brush of her lips against the skin of Bella's throat was anything but.
"I.. I forgot," Bella murmured. "I've been distracted by.. By you."
"Have you? Have you been distracted?" One of the blonde's hands slid down and her fingers combed through Bella's. "And how have I been distracting you?" Her lips were definitely touching that skin now.
"It's hard to think about anything, when your..when your lips are on my neck.. Fuck."
Rosalie laughed lightly. Bella could feel it. "Then what's your excuse for every moment before now?" She pressed a very deliberate kiss to the stretch of skin just above Bella's collarbone and then said, "What are you thinking about instead Little Bell? What are you imagining?"
"Kissing you," Bella admitted plainly, "and feeling your lips.." she paused when Rosalie's fingers slipped under the edge of her tee to touch the bare bones of her hips. "All over me."
"You know," the vampire purred in response, "I've been imagining that too," and then she stepped back and was immediately several feet away.
Bella spun around, feeling the loss of her touch automatically.
"You'll just have to make it up to me," the vampire told her, a smug smile dancing on her lips.
"Okay," Bella nodded, stunned. "How?"
Rosalie took off her heels in an instant, crossed the gap and lifted Bella into her arms. Then, swiftly carrying her over to the bed, she sat her in her lap and said, "By letting me throw you a birthday party."
"You want to throw me a party?" The brunette gazed into the vampire's amber irises. "With all my friends?"
"With whomever you wanted to invite," the vampire gushed, "and whatever you want to eat and whatever music you want to play."
"You'd do that?" Bella said, "you'd come and meet all my friends?"
"I'll work my way up to it," Rosalie purred, "would you like that?"
"Yes," Bella admitted, nodding, "but you don't have to. I've never had a birthday like that before and you definitely don't have to do it."
"What do you usually do for your birthday, Little Bell?"
Bella sighed. "I swear to god, that nickname.."
"Do you hate it?" Rosalie's lips were to her forehead now.
"I love it," Bella said. And then, with her eyes momentarily closed, "I go to dinner with my dad and then get together with some friends and.. Get a really lousy card from my mom." Rosalie's hands drifting softly over her back, her fingertips cool through the thin shirt, felt like heaven.
"Can you squeeze in one tiny party?" Rosalie asked her.
"Yes," Bella quickly answered, knowing that she was liable to say anything with Rosalie kissing her forehead and petting her like that. She tried to shift then to better see into the vampire's eyes and she felt the sore muscle in her shoulder spasm and she whimpered in pain.
"What is it?" came Rosalie's worried inquiry, "what's wrong?"
"I pulled my muscle today," Bella explained, reaching up to tenderly touch the source of the pain, "it's just sore."
Rosalie lifted her chin with a gentle fingertip beneath. "You got hurt today?"
"I slipped, almost fell into a crevasse trying to get an arrowhead. Stupid, I know."
"Not stupid," Rosalie returned, sweetly, but sternly, "but from now on you are absolutely not going close to anymore crevases."
"You know," Bella said, "when you're demanding like that it-" she shook her head.
"It what?" Rosalie pressed, "it turns you on?"
"Well," the brunette huffed, "yes."
Another smirk crossed the gorgeous blonde vampire's lips. "As though it wasn't already obvious that you were submissive," she teased, standing.
"I can be dominant," Bella argued, her heart lurching into a quick pound.
Rosalie laughed at her and sat her in the bed. Then she said, without context, "Take off your pants."
"My.. my pants?" Bella's hands were already on the button.
The vampire's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Down tiger," she quipped in a sexy growl. "I just know you don't sleep in them and I want you to be comfortable with me."
"Oh," her blush was obvious. "I've just been wearing them out of respect for you and I-" she swallowed. "Are you sure you want me to take them off?"
Rosalie's eyes flashed. "Yes," she said.
"Oh," Bella replied, "I, uh.." She unzipped them, "Alright." She nodded and took them off, folding them and putting them on the floor. She mentally thought about what pair of underwear she was wearing- a cotton pair covered in little rainbows. She glanced down at herself, her tanned skin sticking out from beneath a see-through white tee and a tiny strip of fabric elsewhere. Then, she scooted over so that the blonde could join her.
"You have to ask me," Rosalie told her softly, "this all has to be on your terms."
The brunette's heart skipped a beat. "Will you get in bed with me?" Bella asked the perfect angelic creature before her, "Will you hold me like you did last night?"
