Here's my crack shot at writing an SCP fanfiction with knowing very little about the SCP fandom in general. Don't know if it's going to be a thing, or a one-shot...
"Date 2027, December 19th. Location, SCP Foundation site 354, containment zone for SCP-354." A gruff voice echoed off of bleached white walls, the sound filling the room. The tell tale sounds of a keyboard repeatedly clicking served as white noise for the office.
"Command has requested the continued testing of SCP-354, and approval has been granted." A sigh followed the words, the sound of a tired soldier who has seen his fate share of horrors. A shadow of a small desk fan continuing to rotate was the only sign of time passing within the room.
"Although all previous attempts have resulted in failure and additional loss of life, command has not changed their minds on the matter." A pause ensued momentarily, a pen clicking repeatedly. "They believe if tests continue then we may stumble across something useful to the foundation as a whole…"
"Personally I disagree with the idea, but I am not high enough on the food chain to call off this demand." The irate tone the man spoke with clearly conveyed just how he felt about such a request. "I believe enough tests have been run, and enough of my men have already been… killed by the anomalous entities that have escaped from SCP-354. Command should have enough information to complete their file, however they require more…"
"I've received information regarding the scientist the Foundation are sending in, apparently a specialist in her field. Command is very excited to have her here, no surprise there…" Another pause, this one dragging on longer.
"I'm trailing off topic. SCP-354 is a large red pool, located here in Northern Canada at an undisclosed location. The colloquially named Blood Pond is the source of a random number of entities, whether they be living being, or inanimate objects…"
"The Foundation thought not much of the entity at first, seeing as the only objects that came through were inanimate, and lifeless. But then lifeforms began to appear. Since that time, the Foundation has taken a keen interest into the anomaly."
A sudden knocking echoed throughout the room, stopping the man's audio document. He pried his hands away from the keyboard, turning to the source of the disturbance. A soft yet loud click permeated throughout the bland office room as a door opened on the far end.
"Doctor Bernard, the scientist sent from command just arrived. Says she wants to begin immediately." Interrupting the doctor's audio log was the man's personal armed guard, one of many that occupied the site. The now named Doctor Bernard let out a puff of hot air, not at all pleased with the interruption. He stood up, white hair shifting as he stood. He adjusted his black framed glasses, dark colored eyes glinting in the light.
"Very well, let's get this over with…" He grunted, saving the documents on his computer for later review. He slipped on his long sleeved white lab coat, pulling his smooth black gloves on tight. There was a chill in the air, but he'd worn a light blue scarf today.
Wanting to finish this foolish test as soon as possible, Bernard wasted no time in making his way to the location of SCP-354. He couldn't help but feel as if this was all about to go horribly wrong.
A tense silence ensued as the two men made their way down bleached white halls, passing multiple separate offices and even a barracks, before finally reaching a pair of heavy reinforced steel doors. Standing in front of the doors was a black haired young woman, dressed in a white lab coat with the SCP Foundation logo emblazoned across her breast pocket.
"Ah, Doctor Bernard. I'm agent Isabelle, I'll assist you in today's session." The black haired woman, Isabelle, introduced herself politely.
Doctor Bernard, for all his assumptions, couldn't believe the polite way the agent introduced herself. It was to be expected that most of the special agents sent by the Foundation were usually uptight assholes, no offense he swore. So this was a breath of fresh air. He was in no mood to play word games with people that believed themselves above everyone else.
"Greetings, Agent Isabelle. I'll apologize in advance for my behavior. I am in no way interested in further studies of the anomaly. The only reason this is happening at all is because of your boss…" The man stated gruffly, paying politeness with politeness.
If the woman was upset by his statement she didn't show it. "I see. Very well, I suggest that we begin immediately then."
After the short conversation, Bernard authorized access to the containment site.
The doors that barred access to SCP-354 slowly opened, revealing a large indoor location. In the center of the expanse was a large pool of red liquid, similar in color and composition to that of human blood. However, currently the pool was completely covered by a retractable bulletproof window, allowing personnel to see through, but preventing most anomalies from escaping.
Surrounding the pool were steel catwalks and barricades, catwalks that were currently occupied by an on-site assault team that was heavily armed. Just like the door to the area, the walls and the ceiling to the containment of SCP-354 was heavily reinforced. The chances of an anomaly escaping containment were very low. The Foundation was done talking chances after the last containment breach.
Bernard sighed lowly, scratching at the white stubble on his chin. He really didn't want to do this. "Alright, places people! I don't want another slip up. And believe me, neither do you…"
Just off to the side of the pool, with perfect view of the anomaly but shielded from harm was a blast window. The shield had two separate emergency doors that the operator could activate at a moment's notice, on the off chance this all went sideways.
In Bernard's personal opinion, this stupid shit always went sideways. But his personal opinion was rendered baseless conjecture at this point in time, so what the hell did he care?
Following his instructions, the team in place of managing 354 slowly began to open the cover. They weren't going to uncover the entire pool, but simply a smaller portion. Now whether any anomaly came through, was a living being, and or hostile, remained to be seen. Patients was a requirement for a job such as this, and was a good reason he was in charge.
At the request of Isabelle, small drones were sent into the pool. They were made to search out anomalies, seeing as the pool was so thick you couldn't reach any visual clarity. Echolocation and thermal imaging was crucial in this type of test, and was used heavily.
However…
Hours later, with absolutely no sign of any new anomalies, Bernard was beginning to have doubts. Usually any and all anomalies took the chance to escape whenever the hatch was opened, but this time they were met with nothing.
"I don't believe this is going to take us anywhere, Agent Isabelle." Bernard intoned, stepping out of the protective barrier and approaching the pool. Despite the warnings the soldiers threw his way, he didn't hesitate to get in close.
"D-Doctor Bernard! I wouldn't approach the site unless you are protected!" The unusually worried voice of Isabelle piped up, personally refusing to leave the safety of the blast window.
The man grunted something under his breath, but approached the pool until his feet were nearly touching it. His soldiers raised their weapons, setting their sights on the pool directly in front of the man. They would cover him, seeing as he decided not to himself.
Bernard bent down to a knee, staring the pool down with an intense gaze. He was hoping to provoke anything on the other side into approaching, but after a few tense minutes passed in total silence, he gave up.
"Tsk… Shut it all down. This examination is ove-" The scientist stopped suddenly, eyes going wide. The sound of a pin would've been heard dropping from the sudden and mute silence that filled the room.
In the pool behind him, with seemingly no warning given, bubbles started to float to the surface. Within half a second, twenty separate red lasers locked themselves onto that direct spot.
"Doc! The sensors picked something up! Something huge! Back the hell up!" The squad commander barked out gruffly. Bernard took one quick step away from the embankment, but nearly tripped when he suddenly found four long bony slender purple, finger-like digits wrapped around his ankle. They were tipped with claws that were easily ten inches in length.
"Doctor Bernard!"
"Doc!"
"Shit?!" The man tried to pull away, but the grip was surprisingly strong, yet it wasn't painful. He fell to a knee, unable to escape the hand's grasp. He could barely hear the sound of his soldiers shouting in alarm over the volume of his own heart thumping in his chest.
His eyes widened slowly in stunned shock as a smooth purple shape slowly crawled out of the pool. A vaguely feline face met his surprised eyes, the man only barely realizing what he was looking at.
Two glowing orbs of light, what he presumed were the anomaly's eyes, stared straight at him as it ascended from the pool. He'd been let go, but was frozen in shock, watching as it crawled up to stand towering over him. It was catlike in design, yet lacking in any fur or hair at all. It's legs were powerful, muscles flexing with every move it made. Two long pointed bat like ears framed its face, the top of its head and some of its face framed with markings that looked to be made of pure gold. The same markings were found on its shoulders, from there it's body extended backwards, long and slender before reaching a powerful rear end.
It's hind legs were easily twice the size of its front, extending down into long slim legs that ended with clawed paws. Waving back and forth, almost playfully, was a long thick tail extending from its posterior. The tail was easily twice the length of its body, ending in a space like shape that was tipped with gold. Although lacking any fur, red purple feathers lined its back and the top of its tail.
It was only after the doctor realized that he was able to readily take all this information in, that he was still alive. And what's more, the anomaly slowly crawled out from the pool, slowly and gently crawling over him, pinning him down underneath its body. The creature was easily twice the size a normal horse.
His mouth opened and closed probably ten times plus, unable to formulate a single coherent word.
Was this it? Was he about to die from this strange new anomaly?
But…
He was still alive, and the anomaly was seemingly non hostile. He shivered violently and the creature's face rubbed against his own, almost like a cat that wanted to cuddle. The fact that it was touching and not tearing his flesh like so many previous anomalies wished to do, was astounding. He felt sweat pouring down his face, his heart in his throat, his breathing ragged and eyes wide, but he didn't lash out.
It's head slowly tilted to the side, almost like an animal that was curious, finding intense interest in something new and exciting. And a instinctual euphoria was emanating off of it, akin to a house cat when it was purring. The glowing empty golden eyes of the anomaly met his in a strange gaze, and then its cheekbones pulled up into what he assumed was its form of a smile.
It cooed in delight, seemingly despite not having an open mouth he could see.
And that's when he realized that this was the first anomaly that did not follow the same format that every single other one prior had.
This one wasn't hostile…
This one was sentient to a degree so much more then any other, but seemed different, intelligent.
This is what command was hoping to find!
This one wasn't out for blood…
Yet…
"Get away from him!" The first words spoken in the last three minutes were a shout, which was followed by the tell tale sounds of anti-material rounds exploding into it.
And just like that, it was about to fall completely apart…
An unholy screech filled the air, the anomaly standing up, planting its feet over the stunned doctor. The bullets did little against its armored body, only serving to aggravate it.
It brandished it's suddenly sharp clawed fingers dangerously, the bladed digits flared in warning. It was hissing loudly, standing it's ground.
"Stop! Stop shooting! Hold your fir-!" Bernard struggled to shout over the rain of bullets assaulting the anomaly. The doctor shakily stood to his feet, standing mere inches away from the anomaly. It seemed to forget about him in favor of the newly posed threats that assaulted it.
"You're only going to piss it off! Damnit!"
"Doctor! Get away from there!"
"Wait! Hold your fire! That's an order!!" The hellfire stopped, but perhaps to little too late. He was forgotten in the flurry, the anomaly rushing the man that chose to open fire upon it. It moved seemingly too fast to keep track of, within seconds upon the man.
The sound of a rifle hitting the ground was heard, the man held up by his throat. Purple clawed fingers gripped viciously, with a death grip. The man's face went white as it cut off his air supply. The creature's tail vibrated aggressively behind it, a total tone shift from the playful wagging from before.
With one single move it could snap his neck like a twig, cut his head off with its claws, or rip him in half with the power held within its muscles.
Deciding to risk it he ran forward, reaching out for it. The other soldiers raised their sights, red dots all trained in on the creature. "Hold your fire!! That's an order!" Bernard shouted. He reached the creature, grabbing its back leg. It reacted instantly, dropping the soldier as it turned around to attack him. But the moment it realized that it was him, it instead bent down to his level, nuzzling it's face to his own.
Bernard felt his heart thumping wildly in his chest, sweat pouring down his face. His hands shook as he slowly raised them up to pat the creature's head. "S-She's okay! It's fine! Lower your weapons!" He called out. He felt safe in assuming it's gender when he noticed the obvious female genitalia underneath where it's wagging tail met its posterior.
"Doctor!" A soldier shouted.
"Doctor Benard! P-Please!" Isabelle squeaked from behind the blast bunker. She was shaking as she tried to calm her desperately fried nerves. "C-Can you stop petting the c-creature and return to the bunker?!"
The brown haired man's expression fell, dull eyes glaring back at the woman. The creature purred loudly against his face, rubbing her face against his own so aggressively that he had to plant his feet, lest she knock him to the ground. Her tail swung back and forth behind her, a simple and loud telling of her mood.
She was happy.
And a happy murder monster was a gentle murder monster. And a gentle murder monster would hopefully not eat, kill, maim, defile, or do any of the above to him.
So, to that end, he was going to continue trying to keep her happy. Whatever it took to accomplish that, just as long as he didn't have to have more of his staff die…
"Agent Isabelle… I think I'm safest right here…" He called out, voice nearly drowned out by her loud pleased cooing. "I thiiiinnnk?!" He tried before she knocked him over, rubbing her face more aggressively. His expression fell…
"Yes, you are…" It spoke suddenly, tone low and sultry. It's voice ghostly in its tone, echoing throughout the compound.
He felt his team raise their weapons again, but he waved them down.
For some reason he get like this creature wasn't going to leave him alone…
"Date 2027, December 26th. Location, SCP Foundation site 354, containment zone for SCP-354." A gruff voice echoed off of bleached white walls, the sound filling the room. The tell tale sounds of a keyboard repeatedly clicking served as white noise for the office.
However, this time the white noise was also accentuated by the sound of alien-like cooing. The doctor glanced down, finding the head of the creature resting in his lap, eyes half lidded as she purred blankly. After appearing from the blood pond, she'd refused to leave his side. And unfortunately, no one here had the power to stop her from doing what she wanted.
Fortunately, she seemed to pose no threat unless threatened, so this subject matter was made irrelevant.
"Seven days ago command had issued me a scientist from site Alpha to come and assist with the testing. With the help of this woman, I had been promised a simple in and out run. Of course, in the week following that first test, I have been stuck with the anomaly that appeared from the po-." A low hiss cut into the audio. Bernard glanced down to find her glaring up at him, golden orbs heated. His expression faltered.
"Correction. I have been happily placed with the creature for the foreseeable future, and nothing negative has happened in that time." He corrected his previous statement with a dull expression. She cooed happily, nuzzling into his lap. He sighed, running a hand over her smooth head absentmindedly.
"For command's assurance, we have sustained no loss of life in the time since the creature's appearance. Quite the contrary, in fact." He continued, a small grin on his scruffy face. "Following experiments were called for by agent Isabelle, pertaining to the blood pond. With our luck, we were sure to run into trouble." He sighed, not stopping in his petting.
"On day two we suffered an attack from an anomaly that was doglike in nature, made from lava rock. It was immediately hostile, and had attempted to butcher the security staff. Fortunately, life lost was none. This can only be attributed to the anomaly fr-"
"Lillian." Bernard's eyes snapped down at the mythical voice that corrected him, finding the glowing eyes of the creature that refused to leave his side grinning up at him. She cooed, a pleased sound escaping her maw. He turned back to the computer, expression dull.
"Correction. Lillian here is responsible for the safety of my team. When we were very expectedly attacked by the new anomalies, she took them down herself with minimal injuries." He explained. The creature cooed happily at his restructured statement.
The man sighed, leaning back in his chair. Lillian took this as her chance to start nuzzling up against the underside of his chin. His expression fell at the attention she continued to give him without end. She'd start growling if he ever tried to push her away, so he had accepted his fate.
"Agent Isabelle had informed me that I wasn't allowed to keep her by my side. Unfortunately for Isabelle, Lillian didn't like that. The Foundation could try and waste their time and effort's containing her, however I am sure they've reached the same conclusion I have. It would be too troublesome to contain her by conventional means, so she has been admitted to stay by my side for the time." Bernard sighed, much to the creature's glee.
"As for Lillian herself, she has proven to be of moderate intellige-" He started.
"Adequate." She quipped, cutting him off.
"-adequate intelligence and is physical very powerful. Her body is designed with strength and speed in mind, with long powerful legs that allow her to leap large bounds and cover great distances rapidly." Bernard concluded.
"Hmm…" She cooed, eyes half lidded. "You're just trying to butter me up…"
Ignoring her, he continued with his log.
"My only other point worthy of note is her consistent attempts at wooing me to mating. That is, if I am reading what I am seeing correctly." He stated clearly, seemingly not at all perturbed or offset by claiming this with the subject of said point resting her head in his lap. One glance down to her found her staring at him with a half lidded gaze, cheeks glowing red lightly. It was hard to tell her expression or emotion properly, seeing as her eyes with glowing so brightly that he was still unsure if she had eyes, or glowing balls of energy that she saw out of.
"Mmhmm…" She hummed, confirming his suspicions. He hummed in thought, turning back to the computer.
"As a member of an unknown extraterrestrial species not of this earth, she has made her intentions known to me through… various means…" He stated, leaning into the microphone.
Lillian laughed, her ghostly voice sending shivers down his spine. He started sweating nervously, feeling her gaze locked on his back.
"All such attempts have been thoroughly thwarted so far, and I plan to keep it that way…" He sighed, resting his head on his desk. He felt Lillian nudge his lower leg, purring lowly. He promptly smacked her atop the head with an old newspaper. "No. Not happening…"
It wasn't the worst fate, if he was being honest. What with this foundation, he could find his neck being snapped at breakneck speeds, mind controlled into killing himself, or end up being teleported to an alternate reality where he's inevitably hunted down like sport from a crazy old man with flesh melting powers.
Yeah…
Being stuck with a murder monster who didn't lust for his flesh was a much better reality then being stuck inside the chamber of Scp-96, god forbid.
"A-Ah?! Hey, knock it off…" He grunted, pulled out of his musings when she bit his ear. She laughed, a haunting ghostly sound echoing throughout his lab. When he turned to her, all he found was her cheek bones pulled up into a gleeful grin.
"See, now I'm aware that you're doing this on purpose…." He intoned blankly.
He supposed being stuck with a defensive space creature that was madly horny for him wasn't the worst fate. It was just starting to get annoying telling her off.
"You'll have to try harder to stop me…" She hummed, mouth not even moving. It was as if she was speaking through her mind. However, he deduced that wasn't the case, as her voice reverberated off the walls of his lab. His mouth opened in shock, eyes twitching. "You'll eventually give into your urges, and when you do i-"
He promptly smacked her with the paper again, surprising her probably more then it should've if the way she reeled backwards was anything to go by.
"No…"
"Do you think we should be worried?"
"What…?"
"I said, do you think that w-"
"No yeah, I heard you the first time dip dick…"
"W-Well why did you ask me what I said?"
"Because you're asking stupid questions! Of course we should be worried! Do you see where we work?!"
"Okay okay, damn, calm down…"
"Sorry, it's just… This place isn't the most comfortable place to work day in day out."
"You're telling me…"
"Well… It could be worse…"
"How..?"
"We could've been assigned to site 19…"
"…"
"Yeah… Take your evil. I'd choose to work here over any other site any day…"
The conversation was one of many that filled the mess hall of 354. This time of the day, the guard detail and workers alike were hitting the hall for food. The conversation above was held by none other then two of Doctor Bernard's personal guard's, one blond woman of American descent, and one black haired man of Asian descent. Their names were Samantha and Kline, respectively.
How the two found themselves as the guard detail to the man responsible for running site 354 was beyond them. But they didn't find it in themselves to really complain all that much. He kept them alive and fed, and it wasn't boring around the compound
That being said, the last week had been a…
Strange, point in time for them and anyone else on site.
Case in point, Doctor Bernard's new companion. The alien, or anomaly, whatever they were calling it. There was some level of amusement to be found by their site director constantly being accosted by a huge ass horny alien creature.
At least they were warned to not try and stop her themselves. Agent Isabelle was the perfect example. For when she tried to place her command and order that Doctor Bernard cease all actions with the anomaly immediately, Lillian nearly beheaded her in response.
Wisely, a rule was quickly passed around site 354. Don't get in the creature's way if you value your life.
That was the only rule.
So far, most had acclimated to that rule fairly well.
"Oh, here comes the man of the hour." Samantha quipped, elbowing her friend. Kline grunted, glancing across the mess hall to find a tired looking Bernard shambling into the lobby, moving for the coffee immediately.
"And his loyal companion…" Kline sighed, as the massive purple demon alien creature walked in after him. Everyone stopped to stare, but when Lillian turned to stare at them, they all looked away. Those glowing yellow orbs sent shivers down anyone that dared to stare back into them…
"You know, she can have him for all I care." Samantha quipped. "So long as it means she leave me alone, I don't really give a damn."
"Has anyone told you that you're brutally straightforward?" Kline sighed. The blond grinned widely.
"All the time."
"No!" A short gruff shout echoed out, quickly followed by a thwacking sound. Bernard was brandishing a roll of paper threateningly, glaring dully "I'm getting coffee… Go away…" He muttered, grabbing the tip of her tail that had been messing with his pants.
"Tsk…" She grunted, before finally leaving. He watched her walk away with a dull expression, eyes twitching. Finally left alone in peace he turned to making his coffee.
God, he needed his coffee…
"Doc! You keep drinking that dirty bean water and you're gonna crash!" Samantha called out. The blond stood up, walking up behind him. "Get some sleep, alright?" She said, patting him on the shoulder. She didn't say anything more, and didn't stick around long enough for him to say anything in response. Instead he just hummed to himself, eyes glazed over as he stared at his coffee.
He hummed.
Perhaps some sleep could be nice.
At least as a site director, all he had to deal with was this one, well, two SCP's…
He wasn't sure if he could handle more.
End?
