AU Prompt: Jim and Bones live in a terrible apartment complex. There's something enticing about him, his eyes make promises, his body speaks in volumes about adventure and danger and love of life, but his mouth has a split lip.

He's standing on the bridge, wondering what to do. He considers what would be worse, breaking Starfleet's Prime Directive or a life without Spock. The answer is easy enough. [Contains SPOILERS for Star Trek Into Darkness; written for a prompt at trekkink]

Jim Kirk is a strong man. He could easily handle the orders thrown into the face of every Starfleet captain and the stress of commanding the crew of the USS Enterpise. If only he was strong enough to tell Spock how he really feels.

Two years later he is on his way to San Francisco where Jim Kirk and his friends have found a spaceship. Khan and his people, working to build a new life for themselves on a planet they're secretly colonizing, are interrupted when the crew of the USS Enterprise discover them. Tensions between Khan and Kirk are renewed, fueled by the connection both men have to Khan's wife. But there is a greater threat than jealousy lurking in the dark . . .
